(00:00):
Hannah you ready, I'm ready.Let's here we go. It's time for

(00:03):
non headline news with Scotty and Hannahon the New Mix ninety nine point five.
And this is the extended version wherewe talk a little bit more in
detail about some of the stories.Maybe we've covered, maybe we haven't even
gotten onto some of these on ourradio show in the Triad of North Carolina.
Look to get into it. Okay, we'll start out with graduation.

(00:25):
My goodness, this has gotten soout of hand. The cost associated with
graduation. I was looking at thetypical graduation cost is somewhere between three hundred
and twenty five hundred dollars. Wow. So let's talk about why graduation announcements.
Those are super expensive. Yeah, especially if you get the a basic
package like seventy four bucks. Butif you go de Luxe, it's up

(00:48):
in the multiple hundreds. We boughtthe small package and just gave it to
the favorite aunts. Yeah, aslong as the other ants don't see it
exactly. Caps and gowns twenty tofifty five dollars. By the way,
you have to buy these for kindergartenersand stuff these days. This is crazy.
It really is. Graduation party. The example they gave in this story
was one thousand dollars and this wasone hundred guests. They rented a park,

(01:11):
pavilion at picnic fair, and agraduation cake in decor. Then there's
the cost of things like this seniorportrait. Yes, I remember the senior
pictures. See I didn't have thisgrowing up. I know my son did,
so explaining in case someone doesn't knowabout that. Basically, it's a
photo shoot to celebrate the fact youare graduating high school. And it was

(01:32):
a big thing when I was inschool. All the girls I wasn't allowed
to do this had theirs taken inwater. They were like in lakes with
their clothes on, and you're justin the most awkward poses. Well,
I guess the idea is that theydon't want the one and done senior picture
in your yearbook, so you getto do your own photo shoot and submit
this picture to be in your yearbook. So if it's worth it, pay

(01:52):
it. But it's somewhere in thehundreds of dollars. Up to fourteen hundred
dollars, they said. The schoolyearbook itself the optional class ring. Now
you had an interesting thing with thecap and gowns. Yeah, so how
went high school? Went me,two of my cousins, and then my
brother one year after another. SoI got the new cap and gown and
then we just passed it on yearafter year. Now these were women as

(02:15):
well. Oh no, these weremy male cousins. So how was the
fit? Oh? As everyone progressivelygot taller, and my poor brother was
like six' to two and Iam five to five. So the cap
and gown situation was interesting there. They had a mini skirt by that time,
and my parents probably should have justbought a new one, but they're
like, now we're using Hannahs. It's a one ware thing, so just

(02:37):
deal with it. Let's talk aboutanother thing that is kind of crazy.
Sports betting is new in North Carolina. That's been a big story here.
But there was a story that cameout about a guy who tried to do
a parlay and it was one ofthose things where before the seasons all start,
you have to guess who's going towin the major championships. Okay,
so he had the Rangers winning theWorld Series, which they did, the

(03:00):
Chiefs winning the Super Bowl they won. He had bet one hundred dollars if
he gets the NBA champion, right, he wins one point seven million dollars.
Dang, But he bailed on thebet okay, because he had the
Oklahoma City Thunder and it was kindof like deal or no deal. They
offer him a lesser amount if hecashes out. He accepted eighty thousand dollars.

(03:23):
Okay, in hindsight, get welldone on your end. Well done
for the eighty grand. But atthe time he was getting ridiculed because they
were like, you just spend onehundred bucks. You have a chance to
be a millionaire, right, buteighty grand is still more than the hundred
you had before. Would you havehad the guts to stay with it?
Oh? God, I want tosit here and be like, yeah,
absolutely, But no, I thinkI'd be like, eighty thousand dollars.

(03:45):
It's safe. I'm happy with thatamount. It's more than I had before,
and it's life changing money. Imean, eighty thousand dollars makes a
difference. That's someone's student loan deadright. Okay, what's the sexiest accent
and the world a world? OhI'm thinking like an Australian or a British.
Okay, how about in the UnitedStates southern for sure. Really,
oh, no doubt about it.Yeah, Like, no one's being like,

(04:06):
oh, that North Dakota accent isso attractive, isn't it, Kenna
Like, no, no one.By the way, that was very authentic.
She's from Minnesota originally, thank you. So that was that was basically
the accent used for your when youdo your mom. Yeah, that's exactly
how my mom sounds. Actually sosouthern. Uh yeah. Matter of fact,
according to enjoy Travel, they didthe survey or whatever, Okay,

(04:29):
they said that the sexiest accent isfrom Texas. I believe it. It's
a slow Southern draw. I believeit. There was a guy who I
who I went out with once, and looking back at it, it must
have been the accent because he wasn'tthat cute or all that great. But
I was just like, you know, Hay, Hannah, I just but
now I sound like Forest Cup.I'm doing a horrible job at it.
But it was. It was alovely accent for the time being. Actually,

(04:53):
I was born in Texas. MaybeI should bring that accent for do
it. You know, it's it'sgone away over the years. You was
number two on the list. Isodd. It was Bostonians at boss it
really Yeah, I gotta go getmy khakis. Yeah, you gotta pack
the can and all that stuff.Dunk Donuts side on it. The worst
long island, long island, longisland, Jersey kind of thing. There

(05:18):
is just not probably not going todo it for the ladies. Okay,
TikTok that's where we go for ourhealth and uh well wellness and advice on
life. Right. Well, there'sa TikToker whose suggestion has brought us to
this part of the show. It'sthe part where we say, and now

(05:40):
we present Scotty and Hannah's things doctorsshouldn't have to say. Her name is
Brooke, and she says she fliestwo to four times a month, okay,
and these are about four hour flights, and she's found a very comfortable
way to sit. All do youhave to do right now? Do in
your chair? Okay, pull yourfeet up into your chair and so your

(06:03):
knees are up against your chest.Do this. Unless you're driving, you
try this as well. Okay. Now imagine your seat belt wrapped around your
ankles and locked into place. Yeah, no, thank you. That does
not seem that comfortable. No,I feel like this is how like you
kind of like move your legs andyou'd maybe sit like this for a few

(06:23):
seconds just to like move positions. But there's no way this is She must
not have knee problems. Yeah, she goes for like four hours, she
says, and it's very comfortable, she says, she's relaxed, her limbs
don't get on her neighbors. Okay, yeah, all these positive things.
However, there's another side of thestory. What do doctors have to say?

(06:44):
Yes, this appears to be oneof the dumbest ideas I've ever seen.
If there's an emergency, I'm guessingboth legs get broken. Yeah,
and if there's even mild turbulence,it could be another issue, probably a
head injury. I am surprisedly attendantslet her sit that way. Yes,
Like, I just don't foresee thatbeing part of the safety instructions in the

(07:05):
seatback pocket in front of you, although we wouldn't think it. Apparently it's
one of those things doctors had tosay but shouldn't have had to. You
can bring your knees down now, thank you can stretch them out. Takes
a deep breath, and we'll seeyou next time. I'm Scottie, that's
Hannah, and that's it for thisedition of Non Headline News. The extended edition
