Speaker 1 (00:02):

Audio network. Ken Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM.
Here's Mike Benton, time to get you set up for
the final game of this road trip. Mike Benton with
you for Cracking this morning. On a Thursday, October twenty
third final game of six games on the road in
(00:23):
ten days, the Cracking might as well get Hi, my
name is name tags out for everybody when they come
back home this Saturday. All kidding aside, they'd take on
Edmonton for the first game back home, but before then, Tonight,
the Crack and take on the Winnipeg Jets five pm
from Canada Life Center. I'll have coverage for you by
the way, opening up four point thirty. We'll have a
(00:43):
special live broadcast for pregame, intermission and postgame coverage from
Tom's Watch Bar right across the street from Climate Pledgerina
Emissions Free. Come on down, enjoy the food that drinks,
the beverages, the friends, the whole night with us while
ever fits, you and Alcy have the call.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
From Winnipeg. We have a lot more to cover with
the Kraken setting up here for their first matchup of
the season against Winnipeg. Special teams could play a big
role in this game this evening. That plus a look
at the goaltending picture, the NHL debut of Berkeley Catton,
and much more in our conversation with Ian Forness, who
joins us. Of course, you can see him on the
(01:23):
TV side host for the Krack and Hockey Network, also
heard one to three weekdays ninety three to three KJARFM.
We'll have the internest coming up. Plus an exclusive conversation
with Berkeley Catton, who picked up his first career NHL
point Monday night at Philadelphia and was certainly in the
mix despite a four to one Kraken loss to Washington.
(01:46):
Back on Tuesday, Ian Forness and Berkeley Catton joining us
in just a bits. Here's a rewind from Tuesday night.
Didn't begin on the brightest of notes, but the Krack
and making one push right at the finish line in
the highlights right.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Masoft control backed by Washington. Here's old fetch getting nearside.
Chickrien shoots, Chickrit scores power play goal Ford Jacob Chickrin
had the Caps sixten their lead to a field goal
three nothing eight. Schwartz back to the line fresh off
(02:22):
the bench and a shot from Myers turned aside. Rebound
scoress Jana Schwartz from the near circle beats Logan Thompson
and the Kraken get their first goal in the game,
three to one, sixteen to ten to play here in
this third.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
What it was Jens Schwartz from behind the Capitol's net
that dug that puck out and recognized that the Cracking
were on a change. It was Ben Myers coming from
the bench that was coming back to the offensive zone.
Schwartz put it back up to the blue line. Ben
picked it up, got a big shot which ford Logan
Thompson to give up a big rebound rebound went right
to Schortz. This game's three to one.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Nows rims it around the boards.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
I want to put back door the net.
Speaker 5 (03:07):
Every shoots off the polls.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Holly caught Tompson leaning again Jordan Everly so close to
the second goal of the game for Seattle.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
And it was a feed from Berkeley Cotton who had
picked that puck up under the corner, cut to the
front of the net and saw Everly on the far
side that was a top him.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Every Tippenier shot turn aside rebound out of the race
of Yanny Knomany fanned on it all of three on
one short handed Wilson fair vari.
Speaker 5 (03:33):
Back door PLI of the goal.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Has that'll be set out of play.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Connor mcmichoal was right there.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Capital's four cracking one your final score at Capitol One
Arena on Tuesday, with Matt Murray taking the loss in
his cracking debut thirty one saves on thirty four shots.
Didn't get much support in front of him early on
the cracking unfortunately, just managing nine shots in the first
two periods before they put together their third period push
(03:59):
and the only goal of the night to Jayden Schwartz.
The Capitals one for two on the power play of
the Kraken coming up empty into opportunities and they now
turn their attention here to win a pag Berkeley Catton
a part of this lineup and also press into duty
because the Krack and have been going through health issues
up and down their lineup. Among those missing upfront Jared McCann,
(04:23):
Mason march, Mint, Freddie Gidreau and Compocaco due to injuries,
which has pressed Catton into duty and for all intents
and purposes, didn't look too much out of place in
the game at Washington, where he got increased ice time
in period three despite coming up scoreless, but also factoring
in on several scoring opportunities. Catton that evening, finishing with
(04:45):
eighteen minutes of ice time around two shots on net,
one hit, and one takeaway. Before our conversation with Ian Forness,
we cut up with Berkeley Catton in this exclusive to
the Global Credit Union Kraken Audio Network, discussing more on
his upbringing and adjustments to living by himself. Now, what
did mom and dad mean to you with your growth
(05:07):
as a hockey player beginning when you were young?
Speaker 6 (05:09):
Yeah, I think it's pretty much everything. I mean, wouldn't
be here without them. That's a cliche saying, but it's true.
And you know, I remember my dad building me a
backyard drink when I was like.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
Two years old, before I could even really skate.
Speaker 6 (05:20):
So you know, he, you know, he wanted me to
play hockey, and luckily I fell in love with it,
and you know, we both have such a passion for it,
and you know, it's pretty cool that we've come to this.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Now.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Did you have flood lights up there to skate at night?
Or was this more during the Dayah, No.
Speaker 6 (05:31):
There was flood lights. I'm sure the neighbors got mad.
There was lights beaming through the windows and I was
out there all night. But yeah, that we had. We
had a great setup.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Actually, how late were you playing hockey till? Usually day
by day.
Speaker 6 (05:42):
I mean in Canada and the winters, and you don't
have a game that night, it's like just go with
your buddies and you'd be out there till ten, ten
thirty and then yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Did that lots as a kid, and they pull you
in and say it's homework time or it's bedtime, right exactly.
First time living away from home for you correct.
Speaker 5 (05:57):
First time being by myself.
Speaker 6 (05:58):
Yeah, so that's it's been pretty pretty interesting.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
What's the best meal that you would like to cook
once you get deeper and deeper into your pro career.
Speaker 6 (06:05):
Chicken and rice is always a classic. I like, I
like getting on the barbecue. I like steaks and and
all that stuff, So I'm pretty good with that. But
anything with the barbecue good. Everything else in the actual kitchen,
I'm got to learn a lot.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
How much, then, would you agree the secret to a
good steak is more of the seasoning or more of
how it's cooked temperature wise.
Speaker 6 (06:24):
Honestly, I mean the steak itself is pretty important, how
good of a steak it is, and then after that,
I think it's the seasoning is a big, big part.
But I'd probably put that before you know, how you
cook it, probably in New York and Meeta Mayor and
put a little seasoning on it.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
So the experience to go to Chandler Stevenson sous and
hang out with Ryan Winterton as well, but get a
nice home cook meal, how'd you enjoy it?
Speaker 5 (06:46):
Yeah? That was great.
Speaker 6 (06:46):
I think it's just you know, different pace of things
to kind of just go and chill out and be
around a family and you know, get a great meal.
You know Chandler and his wife, so nice of him
to bring bring us over there, and you know, there
was lots of fun to kind of hang out and
just talk and hang out with the kids.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
So really fun night.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
I heard poor tender lee was on the menu. I
heard chicken was on the menu. What else?
Speaker 5 (07:07):
There was corn rice, salad, some garlic bread.
Speaker 6 (07:12):
It was unbelievable. That was probably my highlight of that.
But no, it was awesome, really good meal.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Now, people who don't follow the WHL usually wonder what
the lifestyle is like when you move away from home
at first, But how important were your bill of parents
to you? Living in Spokane huge.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
I was just with billets moving away and stuff.
Speaker 6 (07:32):
I had two or three billets, so I got to
experience different households and whatnot. But all of them were
great and got to, you know, experience that and they helped.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
I was very lucky. All my billets kind of helped me,
you know, with the day to day stuff, cooking.
Speaker 6 (07:48):
Great meals and whatnot, so you know, made my life
pretty easy, to be honest.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
What's the one thing you can't live without in the fridge?
Speaker 5 (07:54):
Peanut butter.
Speaker 6 (07:55):
I know it's on the fridge, but peanut butters might
go to It's like, if I have to make a meal,
it's like peanut butter toast.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
Usually that's my favorite.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Calories don't count for one day. What's your go to
cheat meal?
Speaker 6 (08:05):
Probably some some ribs, barbecue ribs, mashed potato, you know,
some sort of veggie.
Speaker 5 (08:12):
I don't I know it's calories on count, but some.
Speaker 6 (08:14):
Carrots or whatever, fried carrots fried or not fried, sorry,
cooked carrots or cooked being something like that.
Speaker 5 (08:20):
So just a healthy meal, but I think ribs are
my favorite.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Well, you know, as far as fried food. If they
can fry butter at the fair, they can fry carrots also, right.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
Want to cut down up but no, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
What's the craziest road trip that you took in the whl.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
Lots?
Speaker 6 (08:35):
I mean even from my hometown in Saskatoon. From Spokane
and Sasatoon would be thirteen hours and then I remember
when you we went to Winnipeg, which add on another
eight or nine hours to that. And then I think
one year, you know, in playoffs we played Prince George,
So I mean back and forth with Prince George is
thirteen hours.
Speaker 5 (08:53):
And they're you know, in our division or whatever. So
that was that was a lot.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
What's the secret then to it being well on the bus?
Speaker 6 (09:02):
I think I've actually seen guys get little dog beds
and you know, put them around there, and that's one
I've tried that. It's okay. I like to just get
a couple of pillows and you know, kick my feet
up on the other on the other seat. So that's
the way I always kind of did it.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
It's a lot nicer when you get older to move
to the back of the bus, right, Yeah, exactly What
did last year mean to you from a personal growth standpoint?
Speaker 6 (09:23):
Uh? It was it was great. You know, after getting drafted,
it's that's a big year. And I think in your
draft year there's a lot of you know, pressure and stuff.
So to kind of get relieved to that and keep
it in contact with Seattle throughout the year was great.
And you know, built a lot and was on a
workout program and on an eating program, and you know,
I think built a lot last year.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
How harder was it do you think to learn how
to create scoring opportunities being that you were very much
a well known commodity for a player at your position
last season.
Speaker 5 (09:51):
Yeah, that's always tough.
Speaker 6 (09:53):
I mean getting a first line matchups and stuff, so
you have to find your way around that. And then
I think, uh, it helps getting you know, a guy
like Andrew Crystal, so there's kind of two of us
so and then shayev An Olm two at fifty goals,
so there's that we uh we had a really good
line and we're all threats.
Speaker 5 (10:09):
So that was a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
How much do you believe that your game this year
depends on the physical nature versus the skilled nature.
Speaker 6 (10:16):
Yeah, I think obviously there's lots of stuff physically going
into corners and making plays on the wall.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
There's gonna be physical. But you know, I think put
in a little bit of weight has helped me.
Speaker 6 (10:27):
But again, I think my smarts can can get me
out of those situations and allow me to have success. So,
you know, I think smarts and skill, if if you properly,
can can go a long way.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
So what defines the ideal year for you?
Speaker 6 (10:40):
I mean, sticking around here obviously is the main goal. Uh,
you know, I think learning a lot. There's so many
veterans in that room and guys to learn from, So
learning a lot, and you know, when I do get
my chance to kind of run with it, That's the
way I look at it.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
All Right, Time to dive into matters here for the
final game of the road trip. It's been a while
since this team has played home games, but we are
on the CUSP. They are back home this Saturday. Before
that Crack and Winnipeg Jets five pm Pacific time, and
the guy at the host desk for the KRACK and
Hockey Network joins us now in the mayor of Maple Valley.
(11:14):
That's Ian forness one to three week days ninety three
three KJRFM, mayor how are you?
Speaker 7 (11:20):
I'm good, Mikey, how are you?
Speaker 2 (11:21):
I'm hanging in there. I'm hanging in there. I think
from this last week and a lot of us are
kind of running through the whole gamut of Mariner's emotions
right now. And I'll tell you what I mean, a
crack and run to end this road trip with the
win and then come back home strong start. That would
be a pretty nice antidote here for what many of
us experienced earlier this week.
Speaker 7 (11:44):
Yeah, it would be nice. I mean probably a tall path,
depending on you know, who comes back into lineup. I mean,
what they've got going on right now, lineup wise, is
is a little bit scary. But you know, I think
what we've seen and as people try to play catch
up with the backing after the manner of games and
playoffs and all the focus it goes into the Major
League Baseball playoffs with in his town, you know, miss
(12:07):
it along the way. It's a good hockey team, and
it's a better hockey team the last couple of years.
It's a better coach team, and you know, they got
a lot going on. But with all the injuries, you know,
Brandon Montour, Riker Evans, I mean, they're just they're beat
up right now. It's a tall task to prot of
compete with the team that won the President's Trump I
told you last year.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
See here's where I look at what two losses in
a row make as far as a difference. And granted
the game wasn't clean at Philadelphia, it wasn't clean from
the eye test at Washington, but the matter of fact
is this when you're missing Compocaco, Riker Evans, Mason Marchmant,
Freddie Goodrow, mister jack of all trades in this lineup.
(12:51):
Jared McCann's out Brandon Montour on Lee for a family matter.
We hope that he's back at the right time. But
that's a significant chunk of your roster that is missing
and can play a big contribution right here. So when
you look at this here from the lens of two
straight losses, Lane Lambert said, no excuses, but but I
mean it's pretty apparent. And I took a run on
(13:11):
Twitter and took a look at this and with that
responses after the game Tuesday against the Capitals, where there
really is a lot of the mission that the only
thing that this team needs to bounce back on Thursday
this evening against Winnipeg is health.
Speaker 7 (13:28):
Well you forgot Jerem mccamp.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Jerem mca yes, yeah.
Speaker 7 (13:32):
Right, I mean, because there's so many guys out right now,
and so yeah, it's hard. I mean, I think when
you look at the lineup and the way it's structured
right now, you know you've got your number one line
includes a kid that's nineteen years old playing two NHL
games in Berkeley cast. Uh, you know your number two line,
you know had a guy made some marchmen on it.
No longer there, you know, out for whatever day to day.
(13:55):
You know, Janny Newman is scoring goals, is a nice pace,
but you know he he needs to help. He's not
a creator, he's a finisher. And then Brandon on tour,
you know, while with n's done a great buck mover
and so it's tough. I mean as far as plenty
of that somebody to day they're like, well, you know,
I mean other teams are missing guys. I said. This
(14:18):
team's built on depth, for sure, but at the same time,
you can't take high end depth out of your lineup
and expect to have the same results. So I think
what we've seen, you know, Philadelphia and Washington those two games,
the team was just they're just too shorthanded. And you know,
obviously back to back is tough. I mean that's been
(14:39):
a problem nowt for a couple of years. But I'll
tell you this, I love what Matt Murray did the
other night, and they're gonna need assuming Joey goes, you know,
tonight on Thursday against Winnipeg, I mean, they're gonna need
him to play at a high level because frankly, he
hasn't on this road trip. He is great at home,
he hasn't played well on the road and made him
to be really good. So a health and a better,
(15:01):
better goaltender, at least your number one guy have to
come to fruitions against the Jets.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Before I get to Joey and to the goaltending as well.
Berkeley Catton, what do we make out of his first
two games to begin his NHL career.
Speaker 7 (15:15):
Well, I think you watch him and you see a
guy that fits in. You see a guy that doesn't
look out of place at the age of nineteen to
the NHL, and I'm not surprised by that. I know
some maybe listen, you know, whether it be Celebrainy or
Layne Hudson or you know, Connor Bedard, et cetera. There's
(15:36):
a lot of young guys to step in. I mean,
he wasn't drafted quite as high, you know, eighth overall,
but if you're watching the games, it's pretty simple to
see coronor badart fits in at age nineteen in the NHL,
there's no doubt about that, and it would be and
I dare say it would be worthless to send him
back then as Vulcan and the dub. I don't know
(15:58):
what will happen when guys get healthy, But you watch
him his creativity, I mean, I think you could make
an argument. And maybe some numbers sell many a different story,
but watching him on Tuesday in Washington, I think he
can make an argument. He was one of Seattle's best players.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
And what did this tell us? Also ian from the
fact that who was the guy that was getting tried
to back out there over and over and over with
the crack and showing signs of life in their game,
trailing but showing signs of life. It was Berkeley Catton.
Speaker 7 (16:31):
He creates he sees the ice he's got great vision.
You know, he had an opportunity. You know, in the
first two games, he had opportunity to score and he will.
That'll happen. But yeah, I mean, I think, you know,
this team needs creativity and the guys that can finish.
You know, McCann can finish, Newman can finish. Maddy needs
(16:52):
to finish at some point. But you know, it's wild.
I mean, I love the line. I love Veniers every
and and Catten together, I really do. And I know
when McCann comes back, they got to find a spot
for him. I like that line in the preseason. I
like that line, you know, the last couple of nights,
and we need jeremccamn back in this line if there's
(17:14):
no doubt about that, that's a no doubt about that.
But Berkeley Catton has some pretty good chemistry. I don't
know if you just keep Catten and been Hears together,
maybe you throw a Marchman on that line and move McCann,
which I mean I think right, I mean, I like
Maddie and Berkeley together. I don't know if I think
(17:35):
you can move on from Eberley and let him go
somewhere else. And I don't know I wouldn't mind seeing
twenty seven on that line. To be honest with you, Hell,
I mean that is never going to happen because I
can tell what Lane thinks right now if Yonna Newman,
but I wouldn't mind seeing thirty eight on that line. Yeah,
like a guy that can finish. If two guys are great,
the guy that can finish. I will say this with
(17:56):
Lane Lambert, I think it's safe to say, Mikey and
I think you degree they this is a coach is
not afraid to shake things up and what your resume
says and what you've done in the past, unless you're
Vince Don and Adam Larson and you're just gonna be
carried together forever an eternity like you. Let that happen.
He's got no problem with the guys around which I want.
I think that's good.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
We saw at Philadelphia, sat a bit at Washington as well,
and we'll see what happens here for the lineup as
the crack and get set for the Winnipeg Jets. I
did want to get onto goaltending Ian and I think
you kind of opened this up a little bit here.
I would tend to agree maybe that it's going to
be Joey Decord's game. And at Philadelphia, first goal coughed
up puck, second goal beaten up high, third fourth goal
(18:41):
really so much not as fall Travis ConnectNY wide open
front of the net, and then a shot through traffic
which gets on through. And then the fifth goal, which
pretty much end of the night was a sharp bangled
bid from Owen Tippett that leaked on through. I mean,
goals that were just uncharacteristic of what Joey to coord
tends to let versus stop. His say percentage right now
(19:03):
is eight ninety. Philip grew Bauer is at eight nine seven.
Matt Murray only won game for a sample size here.
But if it's Joey to Cord, I would be led
to believe you've got one potentially fired up goaltender to
get ready here for Winnipeg.
Speaker 7 (19:17):
Yeah, I mean it's probably the Joey I I he's
just got to be better. Like let's just let's just say,
I mean, we can be nice and you know, no, man,
he's got to be better. Joey's the number one guy
Lane Lambert handed in that job. Didn't hand it, he
earned it. Like let's let's like he's earned it. But
you know when Lane says, you're the guy, and you were.
(19:39):
He was great those first two home games against Anaheim
in Vegas. They don't come out of there with four
points about Joey. But he hasn't been good on this trip.
He just hasn't. And uh for the last goal that
short side the leap through, that was a bad goal,
such a bad goal and.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Also let all the air out of the balloon as
far as any kind of come back effort that they
had built up.
Speaker 7 (20:01):
Right right right, And I think, you know it's going
to happen during the course of the year, but you
know there's certain staves in the game you have to make.
I thought Edzo said it, well, you know in Washington,
you know, Murray was really good. The power play goal
is a bad goal that a glove on. It just happening.
And you know, this team is not built to where
(20:22):
they can afford to have goaltenders, you know, letting goals
that are that are not expected to go in. Murray
ended up being on the positive side of that, by
the way, on Tuesday, he was on the positive side
of the goal same about expected, So good for him.
I thought he looked really well. I thought, you know,
outside the one goal, I thought he looked calm. It
was really we talked about on TV Alison and Bretton.
(20:44):
I did that that he looked really very confident in there.
I thought. I thought Murray looked really good. And maybe
one of the bonuses of having three guys is you know,
if if somebody stumbles along the way, you're going to
have somebody that can that can step up and and
make the play. Let me just point out Joey made
a save in the final three seconds of the game
(21:05):
in Toronto that got them two points. Yes, I mean
you got that left pad down. That was an incredible shake.
But overall he just has to be better and he
will be better because he is better. But yeah, I didn't.
I haven't loved this game on the trip for the
most part.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Cracking. Part of me cracking. Are going to face a
Winnipeg team that still has plenty and I mean plenty
of an arsenal for their special teams and when you
look at power play points, Alex Eyah follow with three.
Jonathan taves Hey, who'd have thunk we call him a
Winnipeg Jet eventually for his career he's got three, Nino
(21:40):
Nita Ryder three, Kyle Connor three, Mark Schifley two points. Already,
this team tied for third best in the NHL, the
Kraken opposing that power play not too bad right now,
hovering just above middle of the pack. Penalty kill ian
they've taken their lumps so far. They're twenty ninth but
(22:00):
only coveny nineteen minor penalties. That's sixth lowis in the NHL.
So for a game like this, I mean it's pretty
obvious against Winnipeg, you have got to stay out of
the box.
Speaker 7 (22:11):
Yeah, I mean cave And and Schiffley got the game
winner to get the two goals in the two one
win over over Calgary, right, you know night and but
that would give me hope saying, hey, they struggled against Calgary,
a team that's one and six this season, like they
they they struggled against the Flames. So the penalty kill
is weird. I would have thought that would have been
(22:32):
better under Layne Lambert. But I think it will get better.
And I think also and part of that's goaltending. Like
I think we can point to some power play goals
going in and I think you would expect your goaltender
to say, whoever that goaltender is, There's been three of them,
But the power play is really encouraging. Chris Taylor's done
a terrific job. And I fires fill Chris Utah, Grisily
(22:53):
and and you know worked with him down there in
the early two thousands. But but Chris is a Chris.
Chris is obviously changed the power play like he's the
movement on it. We've kind of shown and illustrated on
TV a lot. Ali is in a great job with
this showing the movement on the power play. It's a
fluid movement that's always going on. It's not stagnant, and
(23:16):
I think we're seeing that payoff. So I love the
power play. Kinty'll get better. Listen again, I've said it before,
Tall taps the beat Winnipeg. In Winnipeg period end the story.
You can sneak out of the peg with a point
that would be huge coming home and still be above
five hundred. I think that would be awesome. But hey,
(23:38):
worst case scenario, come home three, three and two, and
you're okay with that with that early schedule.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
Because we know the great as a fundamental of this team,
we know that there's a caality is a fundamental of
this team. But again, it's going to come down to goaltending.
I mean, if they show up consistently, that's going to
be the big difference here. So we'll see how that
shakes out for Winnipeg coming up this seven. Oh by
the way, Ian, how is Portland?
Speaker 7 (24:02):
Portland was great? Uh yeah, shout out to Portland. They
stick caps all the way around. Uh big, big thank
you to the winter Hawks, the Junior one Hawks, everyone
down there. We had a great time. We've got we've
got another at least one more trip coming up to
a Western Hockey League city that may or may not
be located in the Inland Empire and Spokane. But uh
(24:25):
yeah it was. It was really fun. We had a
great time down there. Brett and I went down and
you know, the crack and street hockey team and they're
not street hockey three team plus uh some others were
down there, but we was there all week and just
some clinics. It was really awesome. Wetland shown out. We
had a great time and I you know, big thanks
to Mike Johnson too, the from the winter Hawks. He
(24:46):
was he was there for us and it was really fun.
I'm glad we got down there. Uh you know, Rose City,
Rip City is is definitely cracking down and we had
a ton of fune. I can't wait to get back.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Yeah, that was cool seeing Jerseys right behind you guys
for setting on the TV side that night. Portland is
certainly a part of us here as far as kracking
country one to four A Philliates by the way in
Oregon on the Global Credit Union Kraken Audio Network shout
out to them, Ian looking forward to my mayor, my man,
thank you very much, have a good show, Mikey.
Speaker 7 (25:18):
Thank you. I'll see you on Saturday night at Climb
and played Gerena.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Finally, all right, Mayor, great talking with you. Ian for
Neesh joining us here as we get you set for
the Kraken and the Winnipeg Jets here for this evening.
It's their first match up of the season, with the
Kraken trying to salvage a road tripper. If they win,
can finish their mark at two to two and two,
and if they can get a win against Winnipeg in
a tough place to play, it would certainly get them
(25:43):
some fuel coming back home to jump right back into
this next home stand, a five game variety opening up
this Saturday. Winnipeg's a pretty tough place to play for
the Kraken. They're aiming for their third win all time
against Winnipeg, and they have gone winless in five of
six trips there last season, the Jets sweeping all three
games against the Kraken, and kracking looking for their first
(26:05):
win against Winnipeg since March fifth of twenty twenty four,
a four to three victory at Winnipeg. Mark Shiflee without
question the guy to stop on Winnipeg. He's writing a
red hot fine game goal scoring streak. We'll see if
Jordan Ebery can also be a factory. He tends to
save some of his best games against Winnipeg. He leads
a cracking right now head to head scoring with twenty
(26:27):
points in twenty nine games. And here's a fun did
you know his first game against this chess franchise came
back in February twenty eleven when the Jets were back
then known as the Atlanta Thrashers. Well, the Kraken trying
to get after it this evening and end the road
trip with the victory, and they take on the Jets
once again five pm Pacific time in Winnipeg. Everett, Now
(26:49):
have the call. I will join you for thirty pm
for your pregame show served up by Frostbrewed Corps Light

Tom's Watchbar right across the street. Come on down and
