sports radio kjar dot com. Let's hump into things right
here and a flu back from Saturday with the Kraken
going right down to the wire against the Maple Leafs.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
In the middle. Tolven it right circle, Mason Marshmint fires
turn a side rebound sane right scoress in his backyard.
Shane Wright puts the Kraken on the board won nothing.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
With twelve thirty one left in the first while Mason
Marchman getting a great feed cross the ice there at
the top of the circle, sells the shot, finally puts
it on it and Stars gives a big rebound up
off of his right side. It goes right to right.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
He puts the cracking up one night right works with
down the left side.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Marchmint drops back to right to Marchmint left circle in
the slot scoress.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Yochny new Man from the high slot.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Great puck movement by that line and the Kraken go
back up by a goal.

Speaker 6 (01:52):
Two one, five forty one to play in the second.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Well, Shane Wright wins a puck battle in the neutral zone,
finds me Marchman coming up that left side, shoved it
up to him and then Marchman with a feed over
to Yanni Newman and we see that trademark one timer
into the back of the net two to one.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Crack at up.

Speaker 6 (02:11):
Left link corner back to the line.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Tolling In holds it in for Seattle across.

Speaker 7 (02:15):
Done Scoos fits Don from the right side through heavy
traffic in front, Stolars got ran into.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
We'll see what this will be, but as of right now,
the goal will stand. And it was Brandon Carlow that
actually pushed the Kraken defender into Stolars.

Speaker 6 (02:37):
That was Jade Schwartz.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
So Carlo pushing Schwartz into his own goaltender. That should
not be goaltender interference and the cracking back on top
by a three to two skinners are.

Speaker 6 (02:49):
Out to begin.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
There'slanders jot right on and they scorn.

Speaker 6 (02:55):
Down four second kicks into the power play. Jehn Tavares
won the draw, went right to the front of the net.
Kneelander took the shot and then he buries a rebound
three three words at Toronto. Back in Joshua around Larsen
stop saying crock what a same by Joey the chord Wow, Wow,

(03:20):
Joey the chord was caught leading Joshua faked him out
and to Chord able to hunt that near poast and
keep the puck in the blue paint. My goodness, zick
wah back in near sign Loretz in the circle shot turn.

Speaker 7 (03:37):
A side rebound to Chord.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
What a same Oliver.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Reckman Larsen down the slot to Chord caught a piece
of it. It might have also been blocked by Matty
Veneers and the Kraken go to overtrah right to left
far side. Ever leave now Mahura gets by Stooshura his.

Speaker 7 (04:02):
First goal as a Seattle Kracking.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Win's it and overtime four three in Toronto.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Well I'll start it back at the end the cracking
in form her as he got that puck behind the net,
came out with a great feed depping up the side
of the boards. He got it back to him and
got a breakaway out of it, goes down that right side,
beat Stolars Cracking four to three, overtime win. Bring on
the final Cakes.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Josh Mhura getting his first goal since twenty twenty two
to twenty three, and the last time he scored a
goal it was against the same team in the Maple Leafs.
So a bother some draft is over. Josh Mhura on
the board, the Kracking going to ot for the fourth
consecutive game and they come out victorious now three to
zero and two. Still unbeaten in regulation under brand new

(04:50):
head coach Lane Lambert before the game the krack and
wearing Seattle Mariners jerseys in honor of the Mariners getting
to within one win of the World Old Series. Quite
a statement. And here's more with head coach Lane Lambert
talking about the significance of we're in the jersey plus
also what is reed is on the Kraken through five games.
After the win on Saturday.

Speaker 8 (05:11):
Again, I thought we had guys make real solid contributions.

Speaker 9 (05:14):
I thought, you know, John Hayden did a really good job.

Speaker 8 (05:17):
He helped out on the penalty kill, you know, and
and obviously you know Mahera with the goal at the end,
you know, stepping into a situation or a position.

Speaker 9 (05:30):
You know, we've put him in in that position and
exhibition as well, where he's played on the power play,
so you know he has it. Was.

Speaker 8 (05:38):
It was really good to see and I thought our
guys stuck with it. You know.

Speaker 9 (05:42):
It wasn't perfect by any stretch, but it was.

Speaker 8 (05:44):
It was a pretty good hockey game for us in
a very very good building.

Speaker 10 (05:49):
It is early in the season, but is it important
to come away with two points in the situa when
you're playing an overtime game like that? For the third
night in a row. In the previous two you got
one to the psychological.

Speaker 9 (06:00):
Yeah, very it's huge. Yeah, it's huge.

Speaker 8 (06:02):
You know, to maybe not come away with two points
tonight would have been super disheartening because we've been in
that situation, you know, the past couple of games.

Speaker 9 (06:12):
But you know, we're in tight hockey games. It's the
way it is.

Speaker 8 (06:15):
And you know, it's the fourth overtime game in a row,
so we expect to be in tight hockey games for
the most part, and we have to be comfortable playing
in those games. And it was nice to see our
guys get rewarded for what they've done. With you playing
all that overtime, how much do you kind of look
at that when it comes to you know what last time,
what you.

Speaker 9 (06:35):
Know, what you need to adjust for this time with overtime.

Speaker 8 (06:38):
Yeah, I mean you definitely take different looks at at overtime.
And there was a play in our first overtime game
where Shaye theed or got the pocket came down the
ice on Jordan. Ever they were trying to avoid those
types of situations, you know, so you you do some
work on it, but at the end of the day too,
I think our guys have done a really good job
of using their instincts and on the three nds and

(07:01):
have done a real good job of uh controlling the puck.
You know, for me, it's probably the best I've seen
for a while.

Speaker 9 (07:08):
Play the uh five games you guys have played so
far of the season. What have you liked about how
you've approached games in terms of your future? Yeah, I've
enjoyed that a lot. Actually, I think our team's competing.

Speaker 8 (07:21):
You know, there's there's things that happen out there, but
they're not for a lack of trying. And you know,
that's really the the number one first message we had
at training camp, and our guys have embraced that and
they're doing.

Speaker 9 (07:36):
A great job of it. What have you seen from
Shane right, it's making him so effective? Well, he's uh,
he had a great game tonight.

Speaker 8 (07:42):
I think for me, Uh, Shane, when he's moving his
feet right and when he's having confidence that he you
know that he can keep the puck and own the puck, uh,
he's gonna continue.

Speaker 9 (07:54):
To have more success. So I thought I had a
really good game tonight.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
When you see the jersey you're wearing to what was
important to kind of do that and express support for
the Marriags as they go for the World Series.

Speaker 8 (08:04):
So well, I think it's mutual. I think, uh, you know,
Josh Naylor supports us too. He was wearing our jersey
after they won, you know, in in in the locker room,
and you know, I it's again, it's about our our hometown,
and it's about our our fans and m and our city.

Speaker 9 (08:26):
And I'll say it again.

Speaker 8 (08:28):
Our city is a great sports town and we've had
you know, we have great fans.

Speaker 9 (08:32):
Uh in every uh you know, in every.

Speaker 8 (08:34):
Sport, and you know, uh we're supporting them just as
they would support.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Us on a personal mot is a win like this
in this building.

Speaker 9 (08:43):
Specialty, well it's better than losing, you know.

Speaker 8 (08:46):
So uh you know I I again, I I you know,
I have a lot of respect for the organization, the
people in the organization from top to bottom, the players
that were on the ice tonight against us.

Speaker 9 (08:59):
But yeah, I mean for me, it's it's.

Speaker 8 (09:02):
You know, we get we get a win and we
keep going and it doesn't really matter who we're playing.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
What would you think of Tail jumping into the role
he did and getting some powerfully time and kind of
handling that role with mine.

Speaker 9 (09:12):
Yeah, I thought he did a good job.

Speaker 8 (09:14):
You know, it's tough when you haven't played for a
little bit, and he I thought he handled that very well.
I thought he played well in exhibition. There's a reason
he's here right now, and you know, he played well
and and he's kept himself ready to go.

Speaker 9 (09:32):
What people don't see behind the scenes.

Speaker 8 (09:34):
Is his work ethic on days off and days when
you know we're having games.

Speaker 9 (09:42):
And he's not in the lineup.

Speaker 8 (09:44):
And you know, if you do that, and if you
take the right approach, you give yourself a chance to
have success when you do.

Speaker 9 (09:49):
Draw into the lineup.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Gonna be a pretty busy week ahead here for the
Crack and when they take on Philadelphia tonight, Washington tomorrow,
Winnipeg to end the trip on Thursday, and then come
right back home to face the the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
But the Crack and so far passing many tests. Right
now at three zero and two to preview matters, everet
fits you, Al Konski and myself dive into it all

(10:13):
a part of crack and weekly.

Speaker 5 (10:14):
You can't afford to take the Flyers lightly right. You
know you heard John Walton talk about how this is
gonna be a team that they're gonna struggle to score goals.

Speaker 9 (10:20):
This year.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
You bring in Rick Tockett, so you know, I think
that's another team that, like Seattle, is going to have
a change of identity. We saw what he did in Vancouver,
and I think he's the right man.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
For the job.

Speaker 5 (10:31):
But they're still a very young team. And going through
all my player notes for the game here tonight, you
know they've got fifteen guys who have five or less
years of service time in the NHL. So this is
a pretty young team in Philly. I hate the phrase
trap game, I really do. I'm not even gonna use it,

(10:53):
but this is a game that potentially for Seattle, you
can't afford to overlook them because you've got Washington to night.
I think Philadelphia, you know, they're they're a team that
can score if you let them. Dan Vladar six one
in one all time against the Kraken. He's five zero
and one in the last six against Seattle. So if

(11:16):
Vladar is the guy going tonight, uh that that doesn't
bode well. You know, historically for Seattle, this is a
game that even though you got Wash coming up tomorrow,
you cannot afford to take them lightly.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Funny you mentioned Dan Vadar because I thought the same
thing as well, And I looked back at the game
logs for the Flyers so far, and they flip flopped
every game. It's been Samuel jis Arson, Daniel Voladar, back
and forth. And if that holds true, it should be
Samuel Arrison tonight. I don't think it's gonna be if
you look at that record with Dan Voladar. So we'll see.
But you know, the thing about it is with a
ricktocket coach team is you know, the compete level is

(11:48):
gonna be high. You know, then no quit level is
gonna be high. You know, the workff effort's gonna be there.
I think that's a lot of the Kraken identity as well.
So it's gonna be a battle.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
For what it's worth. Lane Lambert, looking for his first
win head to head against Rick Tockett, too, previously faced
off when Taka just took the Canucks job, succeeding Bruce Boudreau.
Lane Lambert was back with the Islanders. But I mean,
as they say, coaches often can be changed men when
they get into their second NHL job here and Lane
Lambert right now doing some pretty incredible things. So he's

(12:18):
looking to get his first win against Rick Tocket. Had
to head here for this evening before we move on
to the ideal week ahead and our three Stars picks.
I didn't want to kind of put the spotlight on
the Matty Beaneer's line because we talked about so much
during the offseason. Where Matti beaneers goes, this team could
go as well. And again Everett, you mentioned we hate

(12:38):
talking about twenty twenty two to twenty three. It's getting
up there now with comparing you know, the expansion draft
here to Vegas way like back five years ago. But
Matty Beaneer's that set the bar for his production. But
now the league figures you out and what can you
do to win that cat and mouse game to get
back to your ideal numbers? Right now, Beaniir's with three

(12:59):
points in five games. He's playing also with Jared McCann
near point per game, leading goal scorer on this team,
and Jordan Eberley four assists through five games. But you're
not looking at just a baseline numbers here for Beneers.
I've looked over and over and over at one on
one foot races and I'm not groaning. Oh, he should

(13:22):
have had that one. He should have had that one.
It's wow, what a play. He took the body, he
laid the shoulder in. He's doing damage back in his
own zone in a good way and finding the exit
lane for this team. But also he's finding a way
to produce. Help out McCann, help out Eberley, and this
is what you want. Can you find your guy who

(13:44):
now has taking a leadership role even more with an
A on the front of his jersey and having played
a complete two hundred foot game. Matty Beaneers, so far,
so good.

Speaker 5 (13:55):
Yeah, we talk about the crack in every game they play,
it seems like you're saying to yourself, man, this might
be the best game that I think we've seen this season.
And I feel like with Matti Beaneers, every game he's played,
I feel like I find myself saying, man, this might
be one of his best performances in the last couple
of years here in Seattle. And it's not a bad thing, right,
It's just him maturing and growing.

Speaker 6 (14:17):
You know.

Speaker 5 (14:17):
Coming into the season, they were talking about him as
a Selkie dark horse for you know, one of the
top defensive forwards in the league, and he's turning into
a defensive minded, responsible two way player. And you're right,
I think now that he is, you know, going through
the league for the fourth time and he's seeing a
lot of these teams again, and you know, you start

(14:37):
to know what it takes to be at your best
every day and bring you know, ninety percent minimum every
single day. Right, You're finding out what it takes to
survive in this league, and it's paying off dividends and
watching him play this year. This is the Mattivaneers that
the Kraken drafted. This is the Matt Evaneers that they

(14:58):
expected to get when when he came here to Seattle.
And I think he's just getting started this season.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Yeah, you and I have talked a lot about him
over this past week. And the thing that I'm seeing
is another element to his game that I didn't see
over the past two seasons. Over the past two seasons,
you know, when given the opportunity a plus in offensive ability,
but he struggled on the defensive side of the puck.
I'm not seeing that as much this year. And you know,
for the kids out there, it's like unlocking a skin

(15:27):
for your character in a game where they become stronger,
they become bigger, they become faster. Maybe it's a suit
of arm or whatever, but that's what I'm seeing in Mattyveners.
His game has grown to a new level and it's
exciting to.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
See cracking ready to face off and matchup one up
to this season against the Flyers, and they've had a
pretty good taste of success in their franchise history against
the Flyers at five to two and one all time.
They are two and two against Philadelphia and won both
matchups last season by scoring a combined ten goals. Then's
done to point getting leader right now five points in

(16:01):
five games, and not too far behind him Jared McCann,
Chandler Stevens and Shane Wright, Jayden Schwartz, Mason Marshman and
Jordan Eberly all with four. Brandon Montour, who is not
available here to the team away on personal leave for
a family matter. He's got four points as well. We'll
look forward to getting him back in the course when
the time is right. But the Kraken also recalling defenseman

(16:22):
Ville Ottovinen one day after Ryan Lindgren left the overtime
win against Toronto when he got a puck deflected right
in the facial areas. So we'll see how the lineup
shakes out here for this one this evening with the
crack and still trying to tap into the next man
up mentality, Copocaco, Riker Evans, and Freddie Gudreau all on
ir montour away from the team and the status of

(16:44):
lyn Gren right now. Will wait and see.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Bill.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
We'll look forward to having you join us here for
this seavening with the Kraken take on the Flyers. I'll
be on the call with Al Koniski beginning at four
o'clock from expenit Tee Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. Everyt Fitzu's
got TV. He'll be back in the right radio share
tomorrow night for Washington and Andrewsharst. This evening has got
you covered from Network Central for the Frostbured Cores live
pregame show Choose Chill. Thanks for joining us once again,

(17:10):
enjoy the game this evening and for cracking this morning.
