Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to Cracking this morning, a presentation of the Kraken
Audio Network. Ken Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM.
Here's Mike Benton.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
One and one now on the trips. So heading into
back to back, can the Seattle Kraken take the win
on Saturday and build back into more winning habits. Welcome
to Kracken this morning. On a Monday, December twenty second,
we're three days away from Christmas, two away from the
holiday break, and one away from the end of back
to back with a Kraken are zeroing in on more
(00:33):
success in southern California. Mike Betton with you tonight. The
Kracking take on the Anaheim Ducks Pug drops seven pm
from Honda Center. I'll join you for the call with
dal Koniski. Meanwhile, Andershurst has you from Network Central and
we'll open. Coverage is six point thirty on the Global
Credit Union. Crack In Audio Network, looking forward to having
you join us once again. We're gonna hear from head
(00:56):
coach Lane Lamber and his reaction from Saturday's game a bit,
and we'll also check in as well with Chandler Stevenson,
who's on an offensive tear and he's doing this at
the right time, looking back to the krack and began work
on the San Jose Sharks on Saturday. In period two,
with the game tied nothing nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Seattle off a change, here's tolban It shoots scars lle
tolman An.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
Off the bench, stumbles his way to the right circle
and our wrister in past Askarov. It's a one nothing
Seattle cracking lead, thirteen oh eight to play.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
In the second well, it's the puck battle right in
front of the cracking bench. I believe it was Stevenson
that got that puck free freed in freeing it up
for Tolbanan over on the far side. Tolben It gets
a step and these are left handed shots, and we
get to the inside and a quick wrist shot. You
didn't ask rob one nothing bracket up gone death, back
of an airline.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Racking rabbits holds stools. Riker Evans left point, flutters a
shot toward the goal, pull over the shoulder Askarov and
the Seattle crack in retie the game to two, eighteen
o five to go.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
On the third well, Ryker Evans with an elite keep
right at the blue line. His skates got outside the
blue line, but he caught the puck, knocked it down
inside the blue line. The line'sman waves it it's onside.
He gets a shot off and a flutter it goes
off a stick beat taskar rob. This game's tied at
two dred left circle.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
That say shot twos. Ryan Lendrin from the left circle
may have deflected in, but the Seattle Kraken back on top.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
It's a three to two cracking lead. Well, if this
goes down, his Lingering's goal to be his first of
the season. It was a great shot by him as
he waited for the screen going to the front of
the net. I believe it was Tolvenin heading towards the front.
It may have gone off of him. We're having to
look here and didn't redirect, but it could have gone
off of a Shark player as well.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Centering pass it front knocked away l A tolven In
from the red line torn in ahead shannoner Stevenson left circle,
cus front schools Chandler Stevenson two points. Tonight the Kraken
with the insurance goal. It's a four to two Seattle
lead with one twenty four to play in this.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
One while smart Byley Tobin too coming through the neutral zone.
He makes a move to create a little bit of space,
but he knows he's got Channer Stevenson up ahead of him.
He gets him the pass because he's the guy that's opened.
Channer Stevenson carries it to the open cage to make
sure it gets in. Four to two. Kraken Channer Stevenson
has extended his goal streak to four games ty in
his career.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Beck that Zeverra Fitzio and al Koniski on the call,
making it two wins out of three for the Kracking
over the Sharks this season. Regular season sets all done,
and that's no small feat given how better San Jose
is this season. But for a night that saw a
ton of pressure toward goaltender and Joey the cord, he
was great in handling it with thirty four saves on
thirty six shots and what also helped the Kraken lane
(03:57):
down the body to block shot. In this game, the
court was backed up by also three unananswered goals with
the Kraken trailing early in period three, add two to one.
Here's a reaction after the win, but that coach laid Lambert.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
Well, just the effort. There was a lot of commitment.
We spent some time in our on our zone in
the second period, but we had a lot of commitment, uh,
a lot of block shots, and you know, I thought
that we stuck with it even when we went down
in the third. So it was a total, uh total
team effort. What stood out to you about the word tonight? Uh, Well,
(04:34):
you know, again, they're playing hard minutes. Both those lines
are planning hard minutes, and I thought they did a
good job against you know, a couple of their top people,
and you know, and I thought they created some stuff
as well.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
You says Ryan Lincoln's game, not only because he's played
the game.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
Winner, but also defensively. Well, I mean he's always uh
given it everything he's got. Defensively, you know, he'll block shots,
he'll pay the price, he'll do uh whatever it takes, uh,
you know, penalty killing. He was good and you know
it was nice to see him break through and get
his first goal.
Speaker 6 (05:08):
Name you, Toby Goh was a great exampily with you
guys tying up celebrating, uh and the new tries and
he jumps in the jump say they gets the score. Yeah,
I think it was kind of going on all le
all night to night. It seem like something I'm sure
you're happy with him.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
Yeah, I thought we played fairly well through the Neutrals on.
They're a fast team and they like to stretch out, so, uh,
you know, they did get a couple of outnumbered rushers,
but for the most part, I thought we did a
pretty good job of trying to uh, you know, be
above them. And then uh, you know, stan oar Trous.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
Did Joey's night. He'd be pretty he saves it few times.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
He was good, really good. You know, he was good
when we needed him to be. And uh, you know,
I thought he played a great game for us.
Speaker 6 (05:51):
Is the third game in a row over the third grade,
yet this time you do lock it down and close
out the game. What was differentt night was a bost
the last year.
Speaker 7 (05:57):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (05:58):
I thought we did a better job of managing the
pot in in that moment, and I thought our bench
was good. I thought everybody was, you know, completely on
board with how we need to play. And you know,
from that standpoint, it was nice to see, uh, and
we you know, we made sure we manage the puck well.
You know, you look at the shift by Winterton, Karcha
(06:21):
and Myers there towards the end, just keeping the puck
down low, killing off time. I thought it was an
amazing job from that standpoint. So let's hope that you know,
we continue to grow from that and uh and you know,
and and understand what it takes to win.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Chandler Stephens said, now has points in eighth straight games.
Here's his reaction afterward in San Jose, with a refreshing
win in the books.
Speaker 6 (06:45):
For a lot of reasons.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
What you what do you like most about what the team?
Speaker 6 (06:48):
How the team?
Speaker 7 (06:50):
Yeah, I mean I think obviously it's nice to win.
Feels good, but yeah, I think we know how it's
been here as of late, and obviously gonna enjoy this one.
But I think, you know, I like how we played,
and just gotta take this into sand Or, into Anaheim
in LA and try to get as many points there
(07:13):
before the Christmas.
Speaker 6 (07:13):
Breaks all year. And he had some good opportunities scoring.
You must have feel good about been scoring but also
being able to set him.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Up playing that.
Speaker 7 (07:25):
Yeah, I mean, he's a really good acquisition that we got,
you know, just from defensive p K kind of shut
down standpoint. You know, it's always tough playing against them,
and I mean you can see, you know, him being
on this side that he's always in a good spot,
always kind of has a stick on things, always kind
(07:46):
of has a body on things. He's just kinda he's
always there. And uh, I mean that's huge. I mean,
you really appreciate those guys, you know when they're on
your team, and I know that you know, the guys
appreciate him that just the way he plays, i mean,
blocking shots, he's just kind of doing all the things
that go unnoticed to win a game.
Speaker 6 (08:07):
What were you seeing on that play of good Church
of setting up.
Speaker 7 (08:10):
Said to him about I mean, they just kind of
gave me a little bit of time there at the
blue line, and yeah, I just tried to see who's
on the weak side and saw him and Tolby and
just threw it there and not sure what it went
off of, but I mean obviously huge goal, go ahead
goal and his first of the year versus the krack
and so obviously that's gotta feel good. And yeah, hopefully
(08:34):
you can find some confidence.
Speaker 6 (08:36):
It might be a dumb question, but it won't be
the first time for me. But in terms of winning
a game like this, Does this make every pretty feel
like Okay, now we can go win some more and
you kind of get down on the street game off.
Speaker 7 (08:49):
Yeah, I think, you know, obviously it's hasn't been good
here as of late. We haven't like we're not completely
out of it. We understand that. I know that there's
games in hand and all that stuff that you can
look at, but you know, they don't really matter if
you don't win games. So I think right now we're
just focusing on a game at a time here. Tonight
(09:11):
was TV timeout at a time, just trying to do
little things to kind of get us going. And yeah,
I feel like the guys battled all night. Second period,
you know, they had a lot of momentum, but you know,
once third period kind of rolled around. First period was
great and just kind of shut things down and Joe
played great. I mean, it was just a good team
(09:32):
kind of grease the road went.
Speaker 6 (09:35):
Third game, I already got a leave a third period.
This time, you walk it down, you hang on to it.
What was different tonight as opposed to the last team.
Speaker 7 (09:42):
I think just kind of felt like the guys were
just like enough is enough. I mean, it's been like
that for a while here now, and yeah, you could
just kind of feel that we weren't letting that one
get away. Guys on the bench just felt really good,
felt like we could just shut it down, lock it down. Nothing,
(10:04):
nobody's being too cute, just making them come, getting out
of the zone every time and making them come. So
that's always frustrating when you know you're on the other
end of that and you have to just go in
the note zone, into your zone and get the fucking
come back, and they just keep flipping it out. So
we just tried to kind of play simple, stupid hockey,
and yeah, it work in our favor.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
What you need to know about tonight, the Krack and
are still fighting tooth and nailed to inch closer to
the cut line in the West. The win two nights
ago was pretty big at this point all things considered.
It helped the crack and keep pace. Their gap is
now back to seven points out of the cut line
point total at thirty two Utah and the Kings at
(10:44):
thirty nine. So this evening's game will be the second
meeting with Danaheim and the first since opening night where
the Kraken are facing a Ducks team that can be
very potent, but had handled pretty well ten to four
and one head to head, along with an astounding five
to one and one reck in Orange County. Anaheim comes
off of four to three win over the Blue Jackets.
(11:04):
They're two points ahead of Vegas for first place in
the Pacific Division under head coach Joel Quinnville. They can
fly hard in the expression goaltending, though at times have
raised a few questions. Their teams say percentage at eight
A two twenty six in the NHL. But the Krack
can know how to stop the ducks, and with that
(11:25):
it means to neutralize. They're a young core led by
Leo Carlson, Jackson Lacombe, Troy Terry, and much more so.
Can the Kraken turn that into another two point nine?
We'll talk about a beginning at six thirty four year airtime,
Bob dropping a little past seven o'clock from hon to center.
Certainly looking forward to having you for Krakeen this morning.
(11:46):
I might bet you're home.
