Speaker 1 (00:02):
And you said you wanted some guys to step up tonight,
just there's some short handed situations there.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
What did you make of what you saw?
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Yeah, I thought again, I thought we had guys make
real solid contributions. I thought, you know, John Hayden did
a really good job. He helped out on the penalty kill,
you know, and and obviously you know Mahera with the
goal at the end, you know, stepping into a situation
or a position. You know, we've put him in in
(00:33):
that position and exhibition as well where he's played on
the power play.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
So you know he has it was.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
It was really good to see and I thought our
guys stuck with it.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
You know. It wasn't perfect by any stretch, but it was.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
It was a pretty good hockey game for us in
a very very good building.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
It it is early in the season, but is it
important to come away with two points in the situa
when you're playing an overtime game like that for the
third night in a row in.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
The previous two you got one to psychologically, Yeah, very
it's huge. Yeah, it's huge.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Yeah. You know, to maybe not come away with two
points tonight would have been super disheartening because we've been
in that situation, you know, the past couple of games.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
But you know, we're in tight hockey games. It's the
way it is.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
And you know, it's the fourth overtime game in a row,
so we expect to be in tight hockey games for
the most part, and we have to be comfortable playing
in those games. And it was nice to see our
guys get rewarded for what they've done.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
With playing all that overtime.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
How much do you kind of look at that when
it comes to, you know, last time, what you.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Know, what you need to adjust for this time with overtime.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Yeah, I mean you definitely take different looks at at overtime.
And there was a play in our first overtime game
where shafeied or got the pocket came down the ice
on Jordan Eber. They were trying to avoid those types
of situations, you know, so you you do some work
on it, but at the end of the day too,
I think our guys have done a really good job
of using their instincts and yuh on the three and
(02:00):
three and have.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Done a real good job of uh controlling the puck.
You know. For me, it's probably the best I've seen
for a while way.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
The uh five games you guys have played so far
this season, what have you liked about how you've approached games.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
In terms of the features.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Yeah, I've enjoyed that a lot. Actually, I think our
team's competing. You know, there's there's things that happen out there,
but they're not for a lack of trying. And you know,
that's really the the number one first message we had
at training camp, and our guys have embraced that and
they're doing a great job of it.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
What have you seen from Shane right, It's make him
so effective? Well, he's uh, he had a great game tonight.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
I think for me, Uh, Shane, when he's moving his
feet right and when he's having confidence that he you
know that he can keep the puck and.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Own the puck.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Uh, he's gonna continue to have more success.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
So I thought I had a really good game tonight, Wane.
You see the jersey you're wearing too.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
It was important for you guys to kind of do
that and express support for the Marriags as they go
for the World Series. So well, I think it's mutual.
I think, uh, you know, Josh Naylor supports us too.
We're just wearing our jersey after they won, you know,
in in in the locker room, and you know, I
(03:20):
it's again, it's about our our hometown, and it's about
our our fans and and our city.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
And I'll say it again.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Our city is a great sports town and we've had
you know, we have great fans uh in every uh
you know, in every sport, and you know, uh we're
supporting them just as they would support us.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
On a personal love is a win like this in
this building.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Specialty, well it's better than losing, you know.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
So uh you know I I again, I I you know,
I have a lot of respect for the organization, the
people in the organization from top to bottom, the players
that were on the ice tonight against us. But yeah,
I mean for me, it's it's you know, we get
we get a win, and we keep going and it
doesn't really matter who we're playing.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
What would you think of.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Tail jumping into the the role he did and getting
some powerfully time and kind of handling that role with money.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Out to Yeah, I thought he did a good job.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Uh you know, it's tough when you haven't played for
a little bit, and he I thought he handled that
very well. I thought he played well in exhibition. There's
a reason he's here right now. And you know he
played well and and and he's kept himself ready to go.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
UH.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
What people don't see behind the scenes is his UH
work ethic on UH days off and days when you
know we're having games.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
And he's not in the lineup.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
And you know, if you do that and if you
take the right approach, you give yourself a chance to
have success when you do draw into the lineup.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Thinks good.
