Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time to meet the Kruking with Mike Minton, brought
to you by Sea Town Electric Plumbing Heating in their
Washington's preferred choice for electrical page back and plumbing.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
The cop of First Off, a formal walking here to Seattle.
It hasn't been much time to get settled in, but
first Off a few days in. What's the first impression
of the guys that you've gotten to know in this
room so far?
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Yeah, I mean there was there was total one and
I knew him before I played played with him in
a Finnish national team, so he was the only guy
I kind of knew before I got here. But it's
been it's been like all the time I've been here now.
So a lot of a lot of good guys. I mean,
(00:40):
I think it doesn't take too much time to know everyone.
So it feels like we have a great team and
a lot of a lot of good guys.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
What was the first conversation, like getting a chance to
conect the troll V after the trade went down?
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Yeah, he tells the bexted me like when you when
you're gonna come here and something like that will come
so that that was kind of nice, and yeah, I
just get the Chicago and played the play the game
over there. But yeah, he was the first guy texting me,
and then then a couple couple other guys also.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
By the time that we heard this conversation, you might
have had several days in tender to get used to this,
but for the time we're spending together right now, this
is all still pretty much brand new. What have you
heard about Seattle versus what you have seen already about
the city and what you've been a chance to enjoy
as well.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Yeah, I mean we had the break so I kind
of I mean, I'm playing with the tall one and
also so we just they stayed there and had like
a kind of like finish finish Christmas, so that that
was that was a nice thing for me. But yeah,
it's it's still everything kind of kind of new. And
all the games we've been playing, it's been on the road,
so so finally tomorrow is gonna going to be the
(01:45):
first game at home. So that's what I'm waiting waiting
a lot. And and like I said, haven't seen the
city city yet that much, so I think, and I
mean we've been playing playing a lot also lately, so
so hopefully at some point, it's going to be a
little time to see what do we have over here.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Players When they grow up overseas, a lot of them
dream about being you know, Sokku Koivu, Tamu Solani as well.
Who did you enjoy watching the most when you were younger.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Yeah, I think so Koy was one of one of those.
I mean, he's he's from the city where I'm from,
so I think all the older kids were, you know,
watching watching him all the time. So I mean he's
gonna be one of those guys I can say Mikkranton.
And also he played back in Finland also when when
I was playing juniors over there, So I mean, right now,
(02:33):
good good friend of mine and you know, working out
together with him. So he's he's I mean, he's still
playing here. But yeah, if I have to say one
of those kind of older guys not playing anymore, it's
gonna be Soko.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
You have the choice pick three players all the time
at NHL history. If you can put him out there
for three on three in overtime.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
I mean, it's gonna be mac David, one of those
create Ski, I think Peter Forsberg. I think that's that's
gonna be a good good for you guys. I think
great player. I mean, there's still a good highlight video
on YouTube. I like the watch. I mean once in
a while, I think that's kind of the game I
(03:12):
would like to play. I mean, and what I'm trying
to do sometimes. I mean, he was a great player,
but like how good he was staying on the puck
and you know in the corners behind that, behind the end,
and all those rivers hits and and you know a
lot of nice goals. So it's I mean, if you
haven't seen that, go go to YouTube and check it out.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
What's the best meal that you can cook?
Speaker 3 (03:35):
I did a nice salmon soup first when I got
here the Tlvis house, so I mean they look happy
over there when I when they eat it. So I
think that's that's my special.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Every player has a way to get away from the game,
turn their mind off and just relax. What's the best
kind of off day for you?
Speaker 3 (03:55):
I mean during the during the season, you know, there's
a lot of a lot of games. So I just
like to sit on the couch and maybe watch some
movies or finish TV, or maybe play with my friends
back home, you know, PlayStation. I mean, I'm not a
good player, but just nice to talk with them and
kind of do something at the same time. So that's
(04:17):
something I'm usually doing.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Three go to video games.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Then FIFA NTL I've been playing, and maybe Fortnite.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
I go back to a few days ago when you
called this new chance a fresh start. What kind of
game do you want to be playing here for this
team by the end of the season.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Yeah, I think my game is still in the O zone.
Try to make plays over there, I mean, score some
goals as I still think I have a good shot
over here, so I gotta shoot more. But down low,
you know, behind the NED, close to their NED. Make
plays over there, heavy on the battles, I still think.
(05:00):
I mean, when I've been playing in New York, I
think my kind of the zone game has been getting
way better. When I got got here in the NHL,
I think that was that was something I didn't do well.
But I think that's I mean, all these these years,
I've been getting better and I feel I'm kind of
(05:22):
Q two way player right now. But I still think
INDI O zone is you know a lot of things
I can do over there, Like I said, make place
score some goals, try to keep doing those.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
What's the best piece of advice that you could give
to an aspiring youth hockey player who wants to improve
their game on the wing.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
There's a lot of a lot of things, but I mean,
you've got to try to make place. I mean, you're
got to make a mistake at some point, but you
still need to try and make place. I mean, it's
going to be hard. At some point. You early in
the game, you lose, lose the park and maybe they
to score a goal. So it's going to be kind
of hard to keep playing after that and try to
(06:04):
make plays. But that's something like you have to trust
yourself and you know, if you're a cute player, you
can you can make those and just keep trying.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Living here in the NHL a lot of players to
look up to, looking forward to more of these conversations. Copple,
thank you very much.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
Thank you.
