Speaker 1 (00:00):
And the Cracking power play Lord.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Yes is the Kraking postgame Show, brought to you by
Toyota of Olympia. Now for an in depth look at
your Kraken Hockey. It's the post game on the Global
Credit Union Kraken Audio Network.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
We're back inside of a hracas climate Plagarina. The Seattle
Cracking take down the Edmonton Oilers by a three to
two score. Two goals, I'm the Captain, Jordan every thirty
one saves on thirty three shots for Joey the cord
and Ty Karsier leading the way on that fourth line.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Again again, the Kracking.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
They bent, they did not break throughout this game and
came away with two massive points against the Oilers.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Yeah, there were a couple of times throughout the game
where there was a lot of bendings, certainly the last
five minutes of the game, maybe even the last ten
minutes of the game as Edmonton made their push, but
the end of the second period with Joey Decour making
a big save there at the end, and a couple
other times throughout the night where he had to come
up big. The entire team playing the structure they needed
to play to clog things up late in the game.

(01:07):
That was huge.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Well, let's start at the beginning. Jordan Everley is first
of two. He bookends the Krack in scoring in this one.
Matti Vanier's Burtley Katten.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
Setting it up.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
They set the tone early in this game, and that's
something the cracking they've been doing a lot throughout their
first now nine games of the regular season, finding ways
to score within the first five minutes of a period.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
I mean, I can't underemphasize enough how important is it.
Is it a deal break or no, But you always
want that first goal. You want that first big shift,
you want the first hit. And when you can get
that first goal, especially at home here, especially coming back
off the road, just getting the fans into it, that
just amplified. But you see what it did to Ty
Cartson's scoring the goal there in the second period, but

(01:51):
getting that first goal, that goes into everybody on the bench.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Second game in a row, the fourth line anchored by
ty Carsha along with Ryan Winter, Tim and Myers really
making a difference. Connor McDavid held off the score sheet
for just the second time this season. Anytime that you
can shut down one of McDavid Drycidle or Nugent Hopkins.

(02:14):
The latter two got on the scoreboard. I mean, it's
a good day if you're in the opposition.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Yeah, I mean the seventeen Ollers team is just so talented.
You have to respect that. But you're probably not going
to keep them all off the board. But you know what,
if you can keep one of them off the board,
it raises your chances of winning significantly. And they did
that tonight with arguably the best player in the.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
World second consecutive game. In the third period, the crack
And had to survive the push. They were out shot
twelve to eight in the third in Winnipeg out shot
tonight twelve to five in.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
The third period by the Edmonton Oilers.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
You don't want to get in the habit of getting
down and having to weather storms.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
But I do think that with this system.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
That Laine Lambert is installing here in Seattle, you feel
comp if you're the crack And knowing that we can
go out protect a one goal lead if we stick
to what's made us successful.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Yeah, I think that's right. You know, you listen, You're
not gonna outshoot every game. You're not. You're not gonna
out block every team, you're gonna you're gonna be on
the wrong side of some of those columns. But over
a sixty minute game, Uh, when when you're playing the
structure that's been established that you've seen have success and
you believe in that as a team, ultimately you give

(03:28):
yourself a chance to win. And I think that's what
the Kracking have done over nine games so.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Far and one more player notes than I Joey Decourt again,
we I hate to keep going back to the Philly game,
gets pulled in that game, a bounce back, a shutout win,
and win a Pegan here tonight, back to back stellar performances.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Yeah, I mean thirty five has just been playing lights
out as of late. And when you've got a goaltender
back there like that, it gives you so much confidence
as a D man that you know he's back there.
He can play the pocket, he's gonna come up with
big saves when he needs to. As a forward, he
might hit me on the far blue line for a
stretch pass. If I do miss my guy in D zone,

(04:05):
he gets a good shot off, he's gonna come up
with the big save. When you have that kind of confidence,
you can play a little more loose out there, and
I think that you're seeing that from the Kraken as
a whole. But ninety three to nine save percentage for
Joey to Cord tonight. We talked about him being under
nine one the other night, knowing that he wanted to
get above that. These stats do that.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Tonight crackhet a three to two win over the Edmonton Oilers,
and'll tell you what. It's been a rough sledding against
the Oilers in recent games as the Cracket finally get
off the schneid. Coming in against the Oilers, they were
one two and zero last year, and that one win
snapped an eight game slide the Krack and now are

(04:46):
two eight and one in their last eleven games to
the Edmonton Oilers.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Big win for the Kraken.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
We'll step out one more time, come back with Matty
Beniers and more after this on the Global Credit Union
Cracking Audio Network.

To the final Time tonight, Welcome back inside of Climate
Pledge Arena evert fits you, al Kaniski alongside three two
Cracking over the Edmonton Oilers to the locker room We go, Maddie,
but airs to assists here tonight, Maddie, what a game
for you and your return home?

Speaker 4 (07:22):
First time in two weeks back under our roof.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
And you guys, I think a second consecutive statement win
for this group.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
Just take us through your thoughts on this performance.

Speaker 10 (07:32):
Yeah, great win, you know, everyone's a great win. But
you know, I thought we did a really good job tonight.
You know, we defended really hard, We made it pretty
hard on their big dogs, and you know, we capitalize
on our chances. So you know, I thought, I thought
we did a really good job the whole night.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Maddie. How much did mental toughness come into the game
prep tonight and over the course of the sixty minutes
is Edmonton started to make their push midway through the game.

Speaker 10 (07:58):
Yeah, I thought we did a pretty good job handing
their push. You know, we obviously had the lead, and
we definitely got back on our heels a little bit.
But you know, we defended really hard, and we we
were able to find some pucks and and find some chances,
you know, even when they were making their big push.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
So, uh, you know, I thought.

Speaker 10 (08:15):
You know, we can obviously work on that, get a
little bit more you know, on the attack. But I liked,
I liked the way we we did it tonight.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Your captain, two p two goals rather tonight. Jayden Schwartz
was a dominant force on that road trip. You know,
those two guys probably better than anyone on those team.
What what can you say about their performances early in
this season here not only leading by example in the
locker room, but on the ice as well.

Speaker 10 (08:41):
Yeah, they're beasts, you know. The only way to say
at Schwartze. You know, he's just an absolute animal. There's
song on pucks. He wins so many battles and you
know he puts bucks in the back of the that
you know, we obviously creates, you know, have second goal
with that battle on the wall. You know, does so
many little things out there and absolute treat to play with.
And you know, obviously the same with Ebbs, you know,

(09:01):
our leader, captain and you know, just a super skilled player.
But does again all these little things right that makes
it so fun and easy to play with, you know,
and obviously let us do a great win tonight, both
of them. So yeah, I can't say enough great things
about him.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
Maddie is a guy who's played fourth line a little
bit in his lifetime. It can be a thankless job.
What does it mean for Carcha and Winterton and Myers?
Getting in on a goal tonight for them humongous. You know,
I absolutely love it. I thought they've been playing awesome. Uh,
you know, this entire start of the year, they've been
you know, getting pucks low, holding onto pox, making plays,

(09:35):
getting opportunities, and honestly, it was only a matter of
time before uh, you know, they put one in the
back of the net there. But that's our team. You know, everyone's.

Speaker 10 (09:44):
Everyone's you know, pushing, everyone's you know, providing offense.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (09:49):
And that's a great you know, that's just what makes
a team great is when every single line's going, every
single line is producing.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
It was awesome.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Well, Maddie, hey, congrats on the two points tonight. Massive,
massive win here at home over the Oilers. Enjoy it tomorrow, man,
we'll talk to you on the road.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
Yeah, thanks, Betty, all right.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Cracking forward Matt eminiars two assists performance this evening, plus
two on ice rating as well. And I don't know
if I can say the word massive again, but massive
two points over the end of the Oilers here at home.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
When I look at the last two games, I would
say Winnipeg was probably the closest thing to be in
a perfect game for the Kracking, I would say tonight
was a grinded out. Yeah, you're gonna have to grind
it out with these oathers. You're just so talented they're
gonna keep coming. Not that Winnipeg didn't, but you know,
when you're when you're one nothing for the majority of
the game, you've got to play almost perfect to not
give up that tying goal. And they did that until

(10:39):
they got the two empty ninters in Winnipeg. Today was
a real grind not really gonna count the nurse goal.
It was tipped.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Joey was there, Kracking win three to one and a half.
Oh ow over to you.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Well listen, fourth line tonight they had five of ten hits.
It wasn't a big physical game for the cracking night,
but that fourth line had half of the hits tonight,
so they definitely deserve a goal, which they had there
in the second period. Joey Decord again lights out. He's
got a goals against average over the last two games
of one now. The captain Jordan Eberley two goals tonight,

(11:12):
including the game winning goal. He had a goal in
Winnipeg as well. That goal single goal I was talking
about until late in the game. He continues to be
on fire. And lastly, I'll just underscore once again the
mental toughness of coming back off the road with a
lot of positives into a homestand you it would have
been very easy to sit back and think this is
going to be an easy game. They recognized it wasn't. The

(11:32):
mental toughness was there and it showed tonight.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Back to back regulation wins following back to back regulation losses.
Now they turn their sights to Montreal on Tuesday in
a rematch of the nineteen seventeen Stanley Cup Final between
Seattle and Montreal. The Crack and looking to exact some
revenge following a five to four overtime loss in Montreal
back on the fourteenth Canadian Thanksgiving two weeks ago. On Monday,

(12:00):
two weeks of the day, the Cracking fell in overtime,
looking for some revenge on Tuesday Night.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
Mama Kay's three stars, she's standing by. Oh it's late tonight,
Yes right, sorry, let's go search start to night goes
to with that fourth liner, Ty Cartsheer with the goal.
He was plus one tonight. Second star goes to the
netminder Joey to Cord, stopping thirty one thirty three with
a nine to three to nine save percentage and your
number one star tonight, Oh captain, My captain, Jordan Everley.

(12:27):
Two goals plus two three shots on.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Goal couldn't have painted a better return home tonight for
the Seattle Cracking than this big owl next to me myself.

came back off the road trip provides yet another victory.
Here is a Kraken find a way to get two
points in the bag behind a pair of goals from
the captain Jordan Eberley and Joey to Cord once again
showing out in a thirty one saved effort to give
the Crack in a three to two victory over the
Edmonton Oilers. Mike Betton again with you back at climb
the Pledge Arena and by the corps light landing in

(17:23):
section twenty. Alkoniski will be with us shortly. With the win,
the Kraken improving out of five two and two. They're
building optimism. They have twelve points on the season opening
up the homestand here now back to back wins in
the all time series over Edmonton for the first time ever,
Edmonton falling back to five hundred at four to four

(17:44):
and one, they have nine points as a cracking improved
to three and zero on home ice, and yet it's eertly,
but they're back into a first place, tied now with
Vegas in the Pacific Division. And time now for the
highlights this see have a Kraken drive to the next
scoring recap is brought to you by the all new
Chevy Tracks now bigger and Boulder tracks is a perfect

(18:05):
assist for all of life's adventures. As we said earlier,
the Kraken could have used a jolt of energy to
begin this game here in this building. How did they
get after it? Early in period one?

Speaker 3 (18:17):
Sure the Caton, in his home debut, sends it up
to the ears left side two on one, Every fires Jordan,
Every finishing off two on one with Matty Veniers and
the Seattle Kraken take a one nothing lead eighteen thirty

(18:39):
seven to go on the first well.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
After Vince Dunn sets a toad with a shove to
throw excuse me to McDavid, the crack goes the other way.
It's Matty Veneer's down the left side. He makes a
great process feed top of the sortles to Jordan Everley.
Jordan every wastes no time beating Skinner one up the.

Speaker 11 (18:57):
Cracking energy serge and done on one end of the ice.
Dunton and coutmer David leading into Jordan Eberley's goal off
the rush, eating Stuart Skinner gloves side. It's Everly's third
goal of the season and third of his career against
his former team, Matty Veneers and the youngster Berkeley Catton
with the assist on the play just one minute and

(19:19):
twenty three seconds into the game, also giving Caton two
assists now in four NHL games. The crack and holding
a one to nothing lead at the end of one
period then into the second period, how does the fourth
line find their way to get into the mix?

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Here comes Ryan Richard timp they'll find a step on
Henry toss to.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Cartie stop Ty Cartier.

Speaker 17 (19:50):
What a shift from this fourth Five block shots and
a goal on.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
The other end.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
It's a two nothing Seeattle lead, but you're right up
for plucking two shots in the defensive end of the ice.
Ryan Winderdon picks the puck up, goes down that right side,
turns the jets on, pulls all of the defenders to him,
waits to the last second feed at the tight cart shape,
he'd beat Skinner tune up the cracking.

Speaker 11 (20:15):
I'll tell you what. When you can get your fourth
line going with block shots and then one winger feeding
another for the finish and slicing their way to the
Oiler defense like a hot knife through butter, you're cooking,
and the cracking doing just that. With ty car Jay's
goal first on the season coming at six thirty five
a period two and that shift right now in the
clubhouse lead, you'd argue maybe for shift of the year

(20:38):
Ryan Winterton and call up recent call up Ben Myers
with the assist on the play and the crack and
holding a two nothing lead in putting Edmonton into a
deeper hole. But the Oilers would respond Evan bouch Schard
doing what he does best, unloading from the right circle
a slap shot, beating Joey to Cord in the power
play at fifteen thirty nine, Lean Dry title who else

(21:01):
and Ryan Nugent Hopkins had the assist to cut the
crack and lead down to two to one and a
tight game, carrying over with that same score into period three.
The crack in that final frame, trying to find a
way to hang on, but you put veterans out there
at the right time. Guess what happens next.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
Bouncing buck back to the line.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
Let's yeah, I couldn't hold it in and the Oilers
break it ahead.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
Here's Frederick looking at.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Front on goal.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
What a same by Joey the cord.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
Joah filp angled his skate on that. You get his
stick was tied up. He angled his skate, which you
can do to try and redirect that bucket to the
back of the neck. But Joey the cord came up
big on it.

Speaker 11 (21:44):
That's one goaltender who's gaining experience, certainly in games like
these two his benefit. And then with a crack and
looking for another goal in period three, out of their
veteran forwards find a way to get it done.

Speaker 17 (21:55):
Who shark couldn't keep it offside? But here's ahead, every
boksa oh captain, Bye captain. That's two.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
The Seattle cracking back up.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
Bye two, it's a free one cracking lead well, krack
and put diesel pressure on the Oiler defense.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
When right the blue line they cough it up, Matty
Bineers finds it right at center, Rice sweeps enough to
every Everley goes blocker side top shelf free one cracking.

Speaker 11 (22:31):
Fourth goal the season for Jordan Emberley at twelve to
eleven from Matty Veneers to make it a three to
one leading. You figure that would be enough and it
would eventually hold it to be the game winning goal,
because well, Darnell Nurse made things interesting at fourteen thirty five,
first on the season, off a deflection from the ts
X Holmes shot Leandreisidtl had the assist on the play,
but the krack and was standing one last push. Steward

(22:54):
Skinner pull for the extra attacker and Vince Dunn with
a shot block maybe one of the biggest plays of
this game, blocking one last chance to end it in
a three to two victory for the Kraken over the
Edmonton Oilers. Your final shots on net in favor of
Edmonton thirty three to twenty three, the Kraken going zero

(23:15):
for three on the power play, Edmonton getting one, but
just on two opportunities. That was key, minimizing time in
the box here on the Kraken side to give Joey
to Cord the win who looked fantastic. He had a
thirty one saved effort and the last going to Stewart
Skinner this evening three goals on twenty three shots on

(23:35):
the night, and with the win here for Decord, he
improves to five to one and one on the year,
Skinner falling to two three and one. By the way,
Jordan Ebery surpassing seventy career goals here with the Kraken
that has the third different team he has scored with
as many, also matching totals in similar fashion to Edmonton

(23:57):
and with the Islanders. He's, by the way, the only
active player to score seventy with three different franchises and
the only players in NHL history to score seventy did
you know with more than three pretty slight company here
Jason Arnott with Edmonton, New Jersey, Dallas and Nashville, and
Jeff courtinall with Boston, Washington, Vancouver and Saint Louis. Time

(24:19):

Mike Betton with Al Koniski right back here by the
corps light landing in section twenty climb the pledge arena
and Allen. We put wins like these here into a
certain bucket of how big they are. It is still

(30:42):
early here, but as I said earlier, maybe when you
think of a win where you're trying to find a
way to win, this is how this team did it here,
bending but not breaking and also a slice of Joey
to Cord Well.

Speaker 4 (30:54):
It was so different than the Winnipeg game as well,
which was you know, they got that goal in the
Winnipeg game in the second period the Schwartz goal, and
then they just kind of held on and I don't
be held on for dear life, but they played defensive hockey.
They bottled things up and it wasn't until late in
the game where they got the two additional goals and
you know, see, it seemed like a bit of a
lopsided game, but it was a one nothing game for

(31:14):
most of the game. That wasn't That wasn't the situation tonight. Tonight,
it was a grinded out game where you just got
to keep chipping away. You bend, but you don't break.
You gotta block shots. The shot that to Vince Done
blocked right at the buzzer, that was huge. You don't
know where that puck would have gone had he not
thrown his body in front of it. And that's why
Joey Decord came over and give gave him a big
hug at the end. But it's little things like that

(31:36):
that really stood out to me in tonight's game.

Speaker 11 (31:38):
Well, I would hope to maybe get a glimpse here
from Vin's Done or Joey Tocord as far as what
was said at the final horn, because Done blocks that
shot right end of the back and the first thing
Joey Decord does when that horn blows, he goes right
over to Vin's dune and gives him a pat on
the back mask right to hellman. That's a big teammate
moment right there. So folks, you tell us what your

(31:58):
play of the game was for this game Texas right
now four nine four five one, and give me your
play of the game or your player of the game
here from this win four nine four five one, I
go back and think of so many plays ol from
that one to the fourth line shift that Carcier and
Winderdson hate, even that the hit that Vince Done had

(32:19):
on Connor McDavid really in the game. When you're looking
to get energy, that's where you want to go.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
To a shot right to the solar plexus of the
best player in hockey, putting him back on his back side.
That really set a tone for the way the night
was gonna go. Joey to Coord's big save at the
end of the second period there the fans really enjoyed
that one. Even though it may not account it was
right at the buzzer, but he still put on some
theatrics there. There were a lot of big moments in

(32:44):
tonight's game.

Speaker 11 (32:44):

Are gonna hear from Lane Lambert later on. But there
to your reaction right now at this point and now,
when I think when you consider coming in off a
road trip. How many times last season even the year
before did we talk about what you need to get

(40:18):
the building going, what you need to get a jolt
of energy here? And you're facing an Edmonton team that
has given this cracking team so many fits over and
over and over and over. But you know what I
believe right now, these are wins that help you build
an identity. And yet despite being out shot, you put
it in the category of finding a way to win.

(40:39):
So to you on a scale, what does this win
mean here for the Kraken, Well.

Speaker 4 (40:44):
There are very few wins in the NHL that are
easy wins. And I would say easy wins don't build
team morale, team character, team culture. It's wins, like you
said tonight, It's like wins in Winnipeg that do that
on the road. And I think that, you know, many
people think that coming home after a successful road trip
into a homestand that first game is a bit of
a trap game where you're carrying all that confidence from

(41:05):
the road. You think it's gonna be easy. It's never
gonna be easy against the Sidminton older team. It wasn't tonight.
It was a grind And I think the team. The
Kracking team prepared well for the game. The mental toughness
you asked coach Lambert about that. The mental toughness was
probably more important than the finish tonight, and it showed
on the ice.

Speaker 11 (41:22):
Because I think for me, the first sign of this
was when you have Vince Done laying the body right
into the arguably the best player on the entire planet
and Connor McDavid, and then not just for that hit
to set the tone, but then you go right back
down on ice. How Jordan, every pot one gloves st
on Stewart Skinner. That's how you get a jolt going
in this building.

Speaker 4 (41:41):
Yeah, you absolutely do. And the Kracking did not outhit
the others tonight, but situationally, the one you just mentioned
with Vince Dunn, that's set the tone for the way
the Cracker were going to play tonight. And you know,
now your nine games into the season, five too and
two record. Four of those wins have been against teams
that were in the playoffs last season. You've got Edmonton, Tonight, Winnipeg, Toronto, Vegas,

(42:06):
like the cracketer beating quality teams and courtesy of my
stats analyst Zack Stevenson, thank you for that note on
the playoff wins, but you know that those are the
kind of games which start to give you an idea
of what this team is capable of and how they
can battle again.

Speaker 11 (42:22):
Four nine four or five one texas your play of
the game or your player from tonight's game as well,
four nine four or five one on the KJR text line.
And I want to get to one of your three
keys that you brought up in pregame showed time clamp
down on McDavid and dry Title and listen, Leon dry
Title had two assists. I mean, I go back to
the old phrase we used to hear on sports highlight shows.

(42:43):
You can't stop him. You can only hope to contain. Nonetheless,
dry Title. I began to see a desperate player late
in the game shooting pucks, maybe not just out of desperation,
but also at of frustration. Sharp Bengals the court had
those covered on top of that. Conor McDavid, you hold
him scoreless minus one twenty three fifty two face offs,

(43:06):
just two wins, ten losses. Matty baneir as I saw,
was matched up with his line early in the game,
and there was some switching going on here. But to me,
the the fining moment, and this is where I think
where Lane Lambert has some of the magic juice in
what he's got. Going back on that bench, he found
the ideal time to switch things up. And this is

(43:27):
no nothing on Berkeley Catton, because he looked great and
I thought he made some solid plays here for tonight.
But in a tight game, you're putting veterans out there.
He then bumps Jayden Schwartz right back up with Benier's
and Jordan Eberley against McDavid's line, and guess what happens next,
Boom every three to one.

Speaker 4 (43:43):
Yeah, you know the point about Catton. His last game
he played ten minutes. Tonight he played eleven. It's not
a penalizing situation. It's a who do I need on
the ice in this situation. It's not that I can't
trust Berkeley Catton. It's that he's still learning this structure.
He's still learning the game at the NHL level. It's
gonna take him a while to crystallize that. And Leanne

(44:04):
Lambert knows that. So you're gonna see him get a
lot more ice time, maybe when the score is a
little bit more one sided. But I think in these
tight games, especially in the third period, you're gonna see
him go to his veterans.

Speaker 11 (44:14):
Two or two shots on goal. For Catton eleven minutes,
he had one assist and also a plus one rating,
and we're starting to see the game better stats than
Conor McDavid. Seriously, Berkeley Catton, take that to bed with
you here again, four nine, four or five to one
Player of the game or texas your play of the
game right now. But when you consider the games that

(44:35):
Berkeley Canton is building up, what is left for him
to check off to prove that he belongs at the
NHL level long term?

Speaker 4 (44:43):
I think you need to see so his playmaking is
definitely there, hands down. He has the ability to make plays.
Made a fantastic sauce pass to two uh veneers I
think it was in the second period a on a
three on one situation. What I think I want to
see from him is I want to see score a
goal and I don't want it to go off of
his leg, off his ankle, although you know what, in

(45:04):
the case of Janny Newman, the big guy playing in
the front of the net, they're going to go in
that way. What I want to see him do is.
I want to see him snipe a goal. I want
to see him make a great move on a goal.
I want to see him talk one behind an NHL goaltender,
something that shows off his offensive scoring, I think is
his next level. And then obviously he's got to take
advantage of the other end of the ice as well.

(45:25):
But there's one thing that we haven't talked about yet
that I think was a key tonight was an X
factor and we didn't even talk about it in the
broadcast booth up top. You know what that was? Brandon Montour. Yes,
the Brandon Montour factor tonight played into this game. And
I can tell you that I've never played on a
team where a player experience lost like he did. But

(45:47):
when an player experiences something negative in their life and
they go away from the team and they come back,
you rally around that guy. You give every thing for
that guy. And I have to believe that this cracking
team did tonight for Brandon mount I'll.

Speaker 11 (46:01):
Tell you this, it was the heaviest press conference scrum
I've been in here for my entire career.

Speaker 4 (46:06):
I mean, the room was silent. The room was silent.

Speaker 11 (46:09):
You feel so bad for a guy like that and
what he had to go through and to come right
back and play a game like this, and what he did,
he almost I think scored, you know, two or three
goals may be based in he had. He was fantastic
put back out there in late game situations. But he
just had a feeling walking out of the building that
from this morning at morning skate, there was going to

(46:30):
be a complete and total rallying around Brandon Montour, not
just a teammate, but also a leader for a big
game like this tonight.

Speaker 4 (46:38):
Yeah, he had an assist tonight. He had three block shots,
three shots on goal, like he didn't missed a step.
I saw a couple of shifts where he ended it early.
I think with the way he plays his game, he
needs his card. He would to be probably higher than
anybody else in the team because he plays a full
two hundred foot game. He's even as a defenseman. I
think there were a couple of shifts where he had
to get off the ice sooner, but that'll come back

(46:58):
really quickly. But the fact that the other guys on
the bench rallied around him and what he'd gone through
over the past week, you could see it in their
game tonight.

Speaker 11 (47:07):
Four nine, four or five one. Let's go right now
to the KJR text line and from the five to
zero three is saying the whole sequence that began with
car Chase skate block and ending with his goal was awesome.
That was my play of the game. Great to see
the fourth line finding chemistry.

Speaker 4 (47:21):
Yeah. Absolutely, I had him down for two blocks in
that sequence. They had them for three in the game.
I don't know if two were in that sequence, but
I called it out right away and said, you know,
twelve blocking shots, not one, but two there and then
they get going the other way and you see him
get rewarded with an opportunity to put one in. That
feels so good as a fourth liner that you can
take care of your own end first and then when

(47:42):
you get the chances, go down and bury one at
the other end. Help your team win.

Speaker 11 (47:45):
From the four to two five saying love down Lane
Lambert trusted kids in big defensive sponsor for tonight. They
got the job done. And more reaction here from Twitter
and x here from the handle of the Flame saying,
either one of Jordan Everly's goals, great passing from Matty
Benier is in an amazing game. Against the high powered team,
kept the top line quiet tonight, which is not an

(48:07):
easy thing to do. From the handle spell Man five
to two three. Vince Dunn's blocks at the end maybe
a bit of a recentcy bias again that for the
handle s bell Man five to two three, But so
many plays were the building blocks here for tonight.

Speaker 4 (48:22):
Yeah, and listen, there were a lot of blocks in
the game tonight the crackhead nineteen in total. You can't
put one out there and say that was the difference.
But in those last seconds of the game, when you
know that Edmonton is just throwing everything possible, they got
an extra man on the ice, They're shooting from everywhere.
To see twenty nine Vince Done throw his body in

(48:42):
front of a big, heavy shot from the point. Again,
it says something about the character of Vince Dunne, the
character of this team and what they're willing to do
to win hockey games.

Speaker 11 (48:51):
We're gonna step aside here and come right back with
more reaction plus here from crackinhead coach Lane Lambert, and
take a look at what's ahead next in the Montreal
Canadians as the crack you better believe it. Now three
and zero at home five two and two, and tonight
they take down the Edmonton Oilers in a three to
two victory accline the Pledge Arena back shortly after this,

Speaker 1 (49:44):
Bye two, it's a free one.

Speaker 4 (49:46):
Cracking lead well krack and put diesel pressure on the
oiler defense. When right the blue line they cough it up.
N anybody heers finds it right at center Rice sweets
enough to every everley goes blocker side top shelf three one.

Speaker 11 (50:01):
That holding up as the game winner. And yet when
you see a big goal like that, like Everett Fitz
you spoke of at you are channeling your inner Walt Whitman.
There the crack and a three to two win over
the Edmonton Oilers. Mike Betton alkiniski with you back here
for talking crack and I climbing Pledge Arena let's check
downstairs for more reaction now with crackenhead coach Lane Lambert.

Speaker 24 (50:20):
And how important are the performances of Jordan ere Billy
and Joey declared to your team tonight?

Speaker 13 (50:25):
Well, both of them were fantastic. I mean, Joy was great.

Speaker 25 (50:28):
He was great rate from the very very start of
the game, obviously, and you know.

Speaker 13 (50:32):
And we we needed him to be and he.

Speaker 25 (50:34):
Was abbs to you know, two great goals. H certainly
contributions from everyone on the team, though, you know, like
it was a it was a complete team effort at
some point or another.

Speaker 13 (50:48):
Uh, everybody contributed to this hockey game.

Speaker 26 (50:52):
Coach, you're talking it must be you talk about a
complete team effort. You guys limited to a McDavid to
two face off wins outside of that set him out.
Talk about what went into that? Was it the complete
team effort? Just to folks on defense and presence?

Speaker 25 (51:06):
Yeah, we know he's you know, obviously we know he's
he's an amazing player, and you know, so I thought
our attention as best we possibly could, our attention to
staying above him and trying to limit his chances and
you know, keep him away from our nets, so to speak.
You know, you're not going to stop him completely. But

(51:29):
when we needed some big saves, we got them from
our goalie.

Speaker 27 (51:33):
Coach of Vince Dunn didn't earn a star, but I
thought he deserved one from knocking McDavid on his wallet
and the first minute till the block and the at
the buzzer, and then in the middle period, I was
really impressed. He anticipated that his de partner Larson was
going to get caught flat footed and he raced back

(51:55):
into the defensive zone and stopped a scoring chance from
even half happening. So would you tell me what you
thought of his play.

Speaker 13 (52:04):
It's a great observation. I thought he was great.

Speaker 25 (52:07):
I think Vince, you know, for me anyway, Vince has
been really good all year long. You know, he's steady,
he makes plays, he's been good on the power play,
and you know he's hard to play against, and he
you know, tonight was no exception. And you know, to
your point, you know the play he made right at

(52:28):
the end of the game, that's total commitment. And you know,
I love to see that from from our leaders plane.

Speaker 4 (52:33):
You gotta go from the fourth line tonight.

Speaker 13 (52:35):
But what'd you like about their play overall?

Speaker 25 (52:37):
Well, I thought, and I think, you know, over the
last few games here, I think that fourth line's been
they're like, you know, they're like a dog on a
bone and they're hounding and you know, they're creating, they're
getting in, they're creating four check, they're getting bumps and
they're going to the net, and it was really really
nice to see them get rewarded with with that goal tonight.

Speaker 4 (52:58):
With Berks in particular, we're releasing him grow his game
with his second point of the year.

Speaker 13 (53:01):
What did you think from his development tonight?

Speaker 25 (53:04):
I think he's getting better and better. Uh, you know,
I think the thing that is really good is, you know,
and we always talk about this with younger players, and
you know, his responsibility level without the puck and it's
it's it's good and it gets better every day.

Speaker 13 (53:23):
So you know, kudos to him and we need him
to keep going.

Speaker 24 (53:26):
Wayne, you mentioned the rush chances you created late there.
I know you put Schwartz together with Ben years and
everly down the stretch to kind of combat that top
line effort. What did you like about that group when
they were playing together late and the goal that they
were able to smark for Jordan out of those opportunities.

Speaker 25 (53:39):
Well, I think, you know, Schwartz, he's just you know,
he's a little you know, he may be a little
bit more responsible at this point in his career defensively.
So we we felt like, you know, and I knew
they were gonna to load up. You know, those two
guys a lot. If you look at their ice tim
they you know, they probably would have played half the

(54:00):
aid at least, And you know, I thought they did
a for the most part, they did a great job,
you know, and I thought Matty Beaneers had a heck
of a game as well. You know, he was matched
up against McDavid most of the night. Stevenson was against
dry Citle, you know, when they were separated, and I
thought Maddy had a heck of a game. And so

(54:21):
you know, they they they were responsible defensively, and it
turned into you know, odd Man Rushes and.

Speaker 13 (54:29):
Ebbs did a great job of finishing.

Speaker 11 (54:32):
That's that coach Lane Lambert after the crack and knocked
off the oiler three too. Mike Benton Alkoniski with you
first off on Matty Beaner's game al two assists here
for tonight. He also had two shots on that but
BACEOFS ten or fourteen have said so much of this.
Will say it again, the impact that Matty bean hers
also will directly impact your this cracking team.

Speaker 4 (54:52):
Yeah, you know, he's just turned himself into a leader
of this offense out there, and you saw a lot
of it in the you know, the first couple of years,
but I think you're starting to see his two hundred
foot game really show itself. He's battling for pucks and
winning a lot more. He's he's back checking harder and
coming up with turning two on ones into two on twos.
He's keeps finding pucks in the defensive zone and starting

(55:13):
plays that end up being goals, which you know you
see in the most talented guys in the NHL. So
his game is taking another step forward so far this year.

Speaker 11 (55:22):
See also what I really appreciate him being pointed out
here with Vince Dunn and his impact, and he's looked great.
You and I were talking about this earlier here, but
he's taking a load of ice time over the last
several games, and you know, he's not exactly foreign here
to the concept, but tonight it dialed a bit of
a bit back down twenty five forty two because you
get Brandon Montur back in. He played twenty two to

(55:44):
forty eight, So you're taking a big load off that
top deep hair.

Speaker 4 (55:47):
Yeah, and that's what you want, obviously, you want to
share it across the board. But you know there was
a game on the road trip for Adam Larsen at
twenty seven minutes. I just think that's way too much
for a defense. I mean, you want to spread that
as much as much as you can that as far
as is that what it allows you to. There are
situations in the game, whether it be special teams or
injury situations that don't allow you to do that. But

(56:07):
getting Brandon Montour back in the lineup allowed the coaching
staff to spread some of that ice time out a
little bit again.

Speaker 11 (56:14):
Three to two, krack and knockoff the Edmonton Oilers and
Brandon Montour's emotional return here to the lineup for the
Kraken up next second chance. Here at the Montreal Canadians,
I think we're learning al with a team on the rise,
and yet this is the youngest team in the NHL
and there's seven and three now on the season, so
they're starting to show that there for real and they

(56:36):
have a spectacular young player in Ivan Demodov.

Speaker 4 (56:38):
Yeah, it was a tight game, losing an overtime for
the Krack in Montreal. And I've got to believe when
you when you lose an overtime in a tight game,
you know, one nothing, two to one, something like that,
that's different. But the Crack can put up four on
on Montreal and and I think that that that that
gives them confidence coming to this game playing them here
at home, that you're right though they are a young team,
they're a team that does penalties and you can take

(57:01):
advantage of that if you play them appropriately. But I
guarantee you they're gonna come in. This will be Tuesday
just as big of a test as they saw here tonight.

Speaker 11 (57:09):
So can the Kraken take advantage of that? Tonight? On
the power play they came up empty, But we talked
about this in pregame power player. Looking pretty sharp here
to begin this season in the Crack and trying to
avoid the season sweep at the hands of Montreal, losing
their first matchup five to four in overtime at Bell Center.
That's all the time we have here is the Crack
and pull out the three to two win over Edmonton

(57:31):
with Jordan Eberley getting two goals, also chipping in the
fourth line Ty Cartier in the second period. Enjoy the
court spectacular in that turning in tonight a thirty one
save effort. Cartier your third star to Cord your second
star in Everly your first star. Our thanks again to
Travis Muger, our technical director. Also to Terry Ryan, our

(57:53):
on site engineer. Is that will do it for here?
Friends once again, join us here live at Tom's Watch
Bar right across the street starting this next Tuesday again
when the Cracking take on the Montreal Canadians late started
time take note seven point thirty butt. Come on and
hang out with Al myself and plenty of others as
well at Tom's Watchbar right across the street. For Al Kadisky.

(58:17):
This is Mike Benton saying good night from Climbing Pledge
Arena and thank you for joining us. Your final score
once again, the Seattle Crack in three the Edmonton Oilers two.
This is talking cracking on ninety three to three kjrft
