Speaker 1 (00:00):
And the cracking power play Lord.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
This is the Kraking Postgame Show, brought to you by
Toyota of Olympia. Now for an in depth look at
your Kraken Hockey. It's the post game on the Global
Credit Union Kraken Audio Network.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
But the Final Times a night welcome back inside of
Canadian Tires Center here and Canada, Ontario.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Alongside Big Al Kadisky.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Ever fits you back with here the crack and fall
four to three in a shootout here, Like Montreal, the
Kraken made some mistakes. I thought they rebounded well from
those mistakes, but again another late regulation, late third period,
game tying goal against, ultimately leading to the shootout loss.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
Here for Seattle, well, I think you and have talked
about it a lot, and I think we have a
sample size big enough now from preseason to regular season
where we know these games are gonna be greasy, they're
gonna be tight, they're gonna be defensive, and unfortunately sometimes
you follow on the wrong side of a defensive, low
scoring event. And that's the case tonight, it was a
case in Montreal. You do get points out of both
of those games, and that's gonna help in the long run.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
But unfortunately you're not.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
You didn't take advantage of a team that was playing
their second in a back to back, and.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Listen if you're Seattle. I mean a lots of build
off in this game. I thought the physicality was still there.
You out hit Ottawa by a twenty seven to nineteen margin.
Your face offs got better as the game went on.
At one point Seattle was in the twenties percentage wise
in the faceoff dot they ended up finishing with forty
(01:36):
six percent. You had seven takeaways to Ottawa's four takeaways,
so there are some positives to build off of. I
thought Grubauer would love to have a couple of the
goals back. He made some big saves when he needed.
The power play was one for three to night Chandler
Stevenson with two goals. So still a lot to be
proud of in this one the night for Seattle.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
And there's definitely some things to clean up that coaching
staffell lo at with film and talk to players about.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
But I think that they can they can.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
Respect and appreciate the battle of the team put in
the clean up of that first period into the second
and third, and that that no quit now they again,
they got all the way through to taking the lead
there in the third period, unfortunately giving up that goal late.
It's just a gut rencher.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Two games through this six game road trip, identical results
for the most part, extra hockey losses.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
But what have you made about Seattle through now?
Speaker 3 (02:31):
You know, three periods plus two over times plus a shootout.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Yeah, I mean what I've made is that these are
the kind of hockey games we're probably gonna see a
lot of this year. Four to three is a high
scoring game, even in a in a shootout game for
this club. I would say you're gonna see a lot
more three to two games, three one games throughout the year.
But tonight we saw Philip Grubauer for the first time
in regulation. I think there are a couple saves he
(02:55):
could have made. I think he came up with a
couple of big saves as well that could have changed
the outcome of the game. But I have to say
Linis Almark was the better goaltender in the third period.
He had a lot more highlight reel saves. All right.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Ow outside of that, anymore final thoughts before we get
out of here.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Yeah, listen, power play was one for two, so fifty
percent of the night. You can't worry about that. Limiting
shots in the second goal in the second period was
really good for Seattle. I thought there were too many
giveaways seventeen on the night. Again, that's part of that
cleaning up the play a little bit. Seattle continues to
be gritty. Twenty seven hits, twenty block shots. Didn't get
(03:31):
to that fifty mark that we talked about, but very
close to it. So that continues and that's a good sign.
Three stars tonight brought to you by Mama Kay waiting
at home to hear if any of her boys got
a star.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Third star does go.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
To one of them, Chandler Stevenson from the Seattle cracking
a couple of goals from him tonight. Second star goes
to linis Olmark nine went two save percentage, stopping thirty
one to thirty four, and the number one star went
to Shane Pinto of the Senators with a goal in
the first period kicking it off at the Senators.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
The best part about the East Coast road trips. Mama
Kay gets her three stars.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
I've got six fifty three PM Pacific show. She can
enjoy her dinner now he's got her fuzzy slippers on.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
She's getting ready to go settle in watch the rest
of the Mariners game. Mariners have some work to do
going into the bottom of the fourth down five to
one to Toronto, Cracking fall four to three in a
shootout here in Autawa.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Back at it.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
One of my bucket list items gets to be checked
off on Saturday Hockey Night in Canada, the national game
in Toronto. I grew up watching it as a kid,
and now I get to be a part of it.
Speaker 1 (04:34):

Up in forty eight hours time, But for now we'll
go back to thirty two.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Bar and girl, Mike Benton take us home.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
Hey, we know that you have the big game suit
ready here for Saturday, right Fellows. Great call, and unfortunately,
for the crack inside this evening, you play a good
enough game to win. Unfortunately it doesn't shake out that
way on the final score sheet, as they give a
late game time goal for the second straight game, a
shot by Dylan Cousins with debate of the glove side
of Philip Grubauer, and then it was finished off in
(05:04):
the shootout by Shane Pinto to cap off a four
to three. Comeback Ottawa over the Crack and your final
in a shootout Yet the Crack and still are undefeated
in regulation and we'll talk about it more. Coming up
in a bit with our highlights, our scores, more reaction.
Also back out in Ottawa to recap a night with
a Crack and get goals from Shane Wright and two
from Chandler Stevenson, but had to settle for a point.
(05:27):
Tonight Ottawa four Cracking three, your final score in shootout
play postgame rolls on.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
We're back in a bit.

Kraken once again, play well enough to win. Unfortunately a
breakdown late of some sort is a root cause. Here
for a comeback on the home side and the crack
and have to settle once again for a point getting
this one into overtime, forced to play extra hockey and
Ottawa emerging via the shootout four to three the final
(08:24):
over the Kraken and despite that, the Cracking remaining unbeaten
in regulation. They are now two to zero and two.
But given the facts of what happened here for the
second and third period, it stings a bit, but yet
a chance here to make up ground once again in
a very volatile atmosphere coming up two nights from now
on Hockey Night in Canada in Toronto, Ottawa with the
comeback win ends their back to back situation, improving to
(08:48):
two and three. One more matchup here for these two
teams to go for the regular season. Time now for
the highlights, and this diebokracking drive to the next scoring
recap is brought to you by the All News Chevy Tracks,
Bigger and Boulder Tracks is the perfect assist for all
of life's adventures. Kracken hadn't scored a goal in this
(09:08):
building in Ottawa ever since twenty twenty two and twenty three,
but they took care of that streak, ending it emphatically
at four fifty seven courtesy Shane Wright, who got his
first goal of the season cleaning up a Louis puck
at the front of the net. Brandon Montour Mason Marchman
had the assist to give the Kraken a one to
nothing advantage, but penalty issues came to men. For period one.
(09:31):
It would kill off the first to an Adam Larson slash,
but then Ryan Winterton offered, tripping Ottawa, then getting to
work with back to back goals in the span of
one p fifty three. Shane Pinto scored at seven forty
two his sixth from Lars Eller and Klaud Gerue to
tie it up, and then the power play goal which
hurt the Krack, and in this case it was David
Peran getting his first of the night, coming at nine
(09:53):
thirty five. Jeriu and Thomas Shabbat with the assist on
the play, and the Kraken had some more to do
down to one end of twenty minutes, but they would
make things right back up with Chandler Stephenson, the veteran,
getting on the board bar down on Lina's olmark as
pretty as it gets for forty the time of the goal.
In period two, Jaden Schwartz have the only helper and
(10:16):
the Kraken right back to square one, so to speak,
in a two to two tie with Ottawa at the
end of two periods of play. In two period three,
the Kraken going right to the man advantage and who
comes right back looking for the lead again in.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
The ears, drops it off to Montour.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
You'll skate left side, hand it off to Stevenson in
a circle and back up to the line from on
Tour Stevenson down low everly China shovel it in turn
aside rebound.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Stevenson scores.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Chandler Stevenson left circle on the power play.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Gives the Cracking the lead back.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
It's three to two, seventeen forty five left here the
third Oh was.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Every down that left side there, getting a good shot
on net just to get the puck up front there
and Stevenson picking it up and about finding the rebound
and beating Olmark to get the go ahead goal here
in the third period three two Kracking.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
Very promising signs to see veteran Chandler Stevenson get on
the board not once but twice and in multiple situations
have five on five and also on the power play.
This goal coming on the man advantage at two fifteen
period three, as he snapped one home left circle on Olmark,
Jordan Eberley and Brandon Montour with the assist on the
(11:32):
play and the krack and holding the one goal lead
down to the final minutes and seemingly well in command
but giving credit where credit is due lead us Olmark
turning away several stops with the crack and trying to
put the game away and the leads still at one,
with Ottawa coming right back with less than two minutes left.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
And there it goes Olmark off to the bench, extra
attacker on here for Ottawa. Here side Cousins scores. Dylan
Cousins whips a shot from the right side just inside
(12:14):
the line and it's in by Groubauer.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Ottawa ties the game three to three.
Speaker 5 (12:23):
That was a tough one to recover from and get
right back up for the next shift. There as Dylan
Cousins launching a fifty footer from the right wing from
the outside as well. It be Philip Grubauer clean glove
side and Ottawa getting their building energized once again on
that game tying goal with eighteen fourteen gone by in
period three, so again the krack and having to fend
(12:44):
off a late game tying goal, just like in Montreal,
now in Ottawa with a game ti to three, cousins
from Drake Bathson and Jordan Spence. Officially that was a
play that went down on the score sheet and overtime
the Craken had two great looks Mattie Ben and Chandler
Stevenson come to mind trying to put it away. That
Lena Soulmark, who was a big part of this Ottawa
(13:06):
comeback keeping them in the game and it would require
a shootout as well. In round one, Drake Bathurston and
Jordan Everley turned away. In round two, Tim Stutzla scored
a goal, Jeed McCann turned away by Olmark. And then
to round three with Shane Pinto having the game on
his stick.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Right here, Shane Pinto can put it away for the
whole team right handed shot. Shane Pinto from the red line,
carries it over left side of the circle, now cuts
back to the slot, walks.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
In, shoots, scores and the Ottawa Senators.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Come back after the Kraken took the lead early in
the third, They score late in the third, survive a
push thump Seattle in overtime and get the win in
the shootout by a four to three score and.
Speaker 5 (14:04):
A heartbreaking way to go out here in this one,
the Kracking owning a pretty big advantage in shots. They
cleaned up the penalty game as well after period one,
but the game tying goal really turned matters around. And
of the shootout where it's a fifty to fifty game,
so to speak, as they say in this business, and
Shane Pinto had the last say in that the goal
to put it away right past Screwbauer and the Crack
(14:25):
and again having to settle for a shootout point tonight
as Ottawa takes at four to three. The final score
at Canadian Entire Center, your final shots on net in
favor of the Kraken thirty four to twenty three, and
to cat matters off as far as how well they
played in overtime trying to fight out the game tying goal.
He had six shots on net, Outawa had just won
(14:45):
power plays wise, Kracking goal won for three. Outawa goes
one to two in the main advantage and the win
in net. You give credit here Lean the soul mark
was sharp down the stretch and he picks up the
victory with a thirty one save effort on thirty four shots.
Philip Grubauer t the shootout loss with twenty saves on
twenty three shots. Time now for the cors Light Chill

No purchase necessary. Cors Light Juice Chill celebrate responsibly. We
rewind back to period one and just underway with the
(15:25):
Kraken trying to end a bothersome drought. Shane Wright got
the Cracking out to a one to nothing lead and
that ended a string of no goals in Ottawa's buildings
since the twenty twenty two and twenty three seasons, so
that question certainly answered. The Kracking ought to a good
start and Shane Wright getting his first goal of the
season of big moment at that part to period three.
(15:49):
Week go with the Crack and trying to put things
away and how it Lena's Ollmark answer the challenge.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
And Seattle able to jingerly fire this up the near
sign off the glass Larsen now Newman catch his shoots,
turn aside rebound in front oh Oh Mark another spectacular save,
Bill hold on past bat even ears barreling down on him.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
Eight saves on nine shots at all Mark made in
period three and plenty were from high danger varieties. So
a big part of Ottawa coming back in this game
had to do with the guy in between the pipes
and leanus Ollmark with that effort as well helping keep
Ottawa in the game. And part of this uh spark
for what was a comeback ending in the shootout that
(16:34):
brings us here to the big win now brought to
you by the Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling. And since
this the cracking in Ottawa and early game on the
NHL slate, once again we go back to last night
for a big win.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Right here.
Speaker 5 (16:47):
It was Chicago at Saint Louis and how would they
find a way to break out?
Speaker 10 (16:52):
Lucas Rachel folting through center in over the Blues line
on the left flank.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Shit, just go.
Speaker 10 (16:57):
Lucas Racle gets the goal right back he had home
for leaning kind of in an awkward way and slim
it in behind him from deep inside the blue zone
about five feet above the goal line in the left
wing corner, and the Hawks retake.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
The lead at two to one.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
John Wideman had the call there on WGN Radio for
the Blackhawks, as Lucas Reichel that goal he's scored all
a part of a three point nine had two goals
as well in Chicago, routing Saint Louis eight three for
their second straight win. By the way, Connor Badard had
three assists with the black Hawks playing a pretty inspired
game without Captain Nick Folino, who took a leave of
(17:35):
absence because his twelve year old daughter having follow up
surgery related to her congenital heart disease as well. So
the Blackhawks win a three and Saint Louis. We'll come
back after this from thirty two bar and grill your
final score in a shootout Autowa four and the Crack
and three. You're listening to the Global Credit Union Cracking

You guys had control for a large part today and
then gets away from you lates, how's.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
The team that feel like coming away from a game
with It's just in.
Speaker 13 (21:21):
Totality, I mean, I think you've got to feel good. Obviously,
a lot of chances. Omar played great, Groomy played great.
Maybe it's some big saves for US two and yeah,
it's just one of those games that you know you're
early on in the season and you want to be
able to close those ones out. I'm sure all I
(21:42):
wanted to be able to close that one out. But yes,
it's still early, still figuring out a bit, a little bit,
different systems somewhat. So yeah, I think nobody's uh panicking.
Speaker 15 (21:56):
But at the same time, you know.
Speaker 13 (22:00):
We were in the lead, so pretty nice to be
walking out of here with two points, but you know,
we'll take one, especially on the road.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
You had some new line mates tonight, although you you've
seen him before, I mean, how did how did you
feel out there playing with them?
Speaker 8 (22:12):
Usually obviously got the two goals or something that's working.
Speaker 13 (22:15):
Yeah, good obviously, just yeah, the chemistry with uh Tolby
and Shortzy is good like the Shortsy majority of the
here in Tolby through parts. So yeah, I I I
I think you know, Tolby's a shooter and Shortzy's kind
of like.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
A dog on a bone, so.
Speaker 13 (22:37):
He uh gets a lot of pucks and I mean
that was all him on that goal. I said to
shoot it. So yeah, I I think you know, Toty
is another chance makes a great say, but great play
by Shortzy uh to find him on the weak side,
and yeah, I mean it's kind of power play. You know,
both units are looking really good, so getting a lot
(22:59):
of looks chances PK maybe you know a little bit better,
but all in all, yeah, you know, we're uh fairly
happy with uh.
Speaker 9 (23:09):
I would turned out despite them ultimately telling him late
they were.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Chasing the whole third years and they only got six
shots and can you guys walk away like thinking, we
actually defended that league pretty well in the final.
Speaker 13 (23:19):
Frame, Yeah, I mean somewhat. I mean, kind of weird shot.
I don't know if anybody knew that he was gonna
shoot that from from the wall, but yeah, I think
that that's something that you know, we wanna be good in.
I mean, it's uh the NHL, it's gonna be a
(23:40):
lot of one goal games. You know, it's gonna be
we're gonna be down one pressing, and that's just kind
of there's not many games where you have comfortable lead
in this league. So I think, yeah, as the season
goes on, the more comfortable guys will get in those situations.
And obviously losing pretty you know, really good base off
and he's own guy for us that you know would
(24:02):
have been nice to have out there. But yeah, I
think all in all, I mean, if you want to
win every game, I know it's not realistic, but you know,
especially when you're in the leader, you want to have
two points. But you know, we're I don't want to
say I said, we're happy with one, but obviously two
would have been nice. But we're happy with the effort.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
And still unbeaten in regulation this season. Those comments from
Chandler Stevenson meeting with the media in Montreal, and we'll
see if the change in the lineup here unlocks something
for him. So far, so good for night number one,
paired with Jayden Schwartz and the left wing and Ellie
Toulvenen on the right wing, but also the cracking maybe
having to figure things out with a loss of Freddie
Goodrou who left the game early, would not return, so
(24:45):
we'll see if he can come back here for the
next one in Toronto. We'll talk about that after this.
As a crack and fall again tonight in a shootout
your final score Autawa four Cracking three. You're listening to
