Speaker 1 (00:00):
And the Cracking Power Play.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
This is the Kraking Postgame Show, brought to you by
Toyota of Olympia. Now for an in depth look at
your Krake and hockey. It's the post game on the
Global Credit Union Kracking Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Bhurtle. They Catton eating the fish.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Yeah here in Seattle, We're not gonna give it away.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
Yeats waiting.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
A big seven to four win tonight for the Seattle
Crack in a season high seven.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Goals here tonight.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Two goals tonight for Bertley Catton, two and one for Coppocco.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
This train keeps on rolling. Now points in nine straight.
Speaker 5 (00:40):
Well, you know the thing about it is too is
it's it started to become you know, the first the
first third of the season, whatever we talked about the
schedule in the pregame, franchise best start. They were winning,
but they were winning in overtime. They were winning one
goal games.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
They're starting to win games by two three goals.
Speaker 5 (00:56):
That they're starting to show that that when they get goaltending,
when they play their systems and they take advantage of
their opportunities, they can put teams away. And that's definitely
what they did tonight with Boston well, now, I mean
you look at the last eight games, I guess last
nine for Seattle.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Eight of those games Seattle has scored three or more goals.
For the Cracking, they've allowed one or two goals in
five six.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Rather of now those nine games. So defensively they've locked
it up.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Offensively, they've been able to find the rank connection who
said this team can't score Cracking now back to back games,
twelve goals in their last two games combined.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
Yeah, and again that's a big part of it. You
don't necessarily want to get into a mindset of out
scoring your problems.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
They still need to play their structure.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
But they've got goaltending right now. That's all above nine hundred.
Joey to Cord probably wants one of those pack teams.
He probably wants a little help from the referee on
one of them. But a fairly solid game tonight, now
that's best.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
But a solid game for him.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
Philip Grubauer his last five starts, he's averaging one goal
again over his last five starts. So they're getting bulton
and net which allows them to go out and compete
and win games two to one, three to two, or
in the case of tonight seven four.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Well, and it's also it's been the depth scoring. I mean,
you look at this evening, if you'll count with me,
one two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight nine ten
eleven players finding the score sheet cal flurry. They added
an assist for Copocaco, so he now has got another
assist on the season, but a two assists to night
for Matt Evaneers, one and one for mccamp, two assists
(02:30):
for Done, two and one for coco U, two assists
for Gadrou, two goals for Catton. I mean, you're getting
points from your best players, but you're also getting that
secondary scoring which is so important, especially for teams going
on playoff runs.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
Yeah, and again looking at the stats from my side
to you know, seven goals, not one of them from
a cracking defenseman, which you know typically you would see
with the depth of scoring of this team. Certainly they
contributed on the assists side, but all that scoring coming
from your front end tonight, that who is a great
message for your guys up front that they can get
it done, both on the on the penalty or TV
the power play.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
Going three for Fortnite and even.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Strength Kraken didn't get a whole lot of help in
the standings today is both Vegas and Edmonton one. Vegas
beat Winnipeg four to three, Edmonton one at home rather
by a six to three score, So as of now,
the crack Cans still remain one point back of both
Vegas and Edmonton at forty seven points, up two points
(03:30):
a three way tie in the Pacific Division, King's Sharks
Anaheim all tied at forty five points.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
All you can do is win. That's all you can do,
and whatever happens happens. Hey, they're doing their part right.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
We'll go to a time out come back with more

Bowl Cucko joining us two goals and an assist here tonight.
Congrats on the big night for you. Congrats to your
team on a seven to four win. Now points in

points streak eight oh to one in your last nine.
(06:26):
Just take us through this game and what you saw
from your view on ice level.
Speaker 10 (06:30):
Yeah, I think great elbow, We're all we did all
what we what we wanted. Then, yeah, we played yesterday
also about h E've already right away and like that
was a tight game about we find a way in
the end and score a couple of goals and yeah,
good win week.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
In for us.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
A couple oftentimes situations do good things for your locker
room and overtime win, a comeback win, that sort of thing.
What is putting seven up on the Boston Bruins tonight
do for the locker room?
Speaker 1 (06:55):
It does a lot, specially for cats.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
You know too.
Speaker 10 (06:59):
Two calls goal, their first first in the National Hockey League,
so big one for him and I think the whole
the whole team was excited for that.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
Good to see.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
Yeah, and specifically with Berkeley Catton obviously a big game
for him tonight. Do you do you see more confidence
coming out of tonight as a result of him getting
his first NHL not first, but two goals.
Speaker 10 (07:18):
Yeah. I think it's it's been there all the time,
like he's been getting chances and I think he's been
a little unlucky also, like there's been a great chances.
He's he's been playing well, I think, and finally he
got the got the couple of goals, so good for him.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Lately, you've been moved up to that line with Matty
Beniers and Jordan Everley. What have you liked about playing
with those two and how do you feel they've made
your game better?
Speaker 1 (07:43):
How have you improved? Have you improved my playing with
those two?
Speaker 4 (07:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (07:47):
I mean I played with Maddy the whole whole season.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
I was here last.
Speaker 10 (07:51):
Last year, so I know what he can do out there.
I think we've been playing well to getter, I mean
the last last season. I really like to play with him,
and I was happy I get to get to play
to him again this year. And yeah, EPs, I mean
we didn't play together last year, I don't think. And yeah,
he's been he's been doing well also, and I think
(08:12):
all our game has been getting better and better, getting
more chances and then you know the result of this
there also, we've been scoring goals and I'm not letting
too much in our net.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
Well, couple, I would just share this one thing that
you can share back with Berkeley K when you get
back in the locker room, that it had been twenty
seven games since he scored a goal. It's a good
thing he changed his number.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Right, it was seventy seven.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yeah, that was that was good. Last one for me.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
You were named to your first ever Olympic team for
your home nation of Finland. What was that moment like
when you received the call? And I mean, what emotions
are you going to be feeling when you you put
that country's York Country's jersey on in the Olympics for
the first time.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
Yeah, that means a lot.
Speaker 10 (08:54):
I think all the players all over here wants to
play for those games something especially are the only ones
in four four years. I mean it's been even more
because you know players here. Gun, I'm gonna make it
last time about a Yeah, I mean solo. That was
something I really wanted to be part of this this season.
And yeah, super happy to be there and excited for
(09:16):
those games.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
And what does it mean to be going with Ellie Tovenan.
Speaker 10 (09:19):
Yeah, I think he's he's helping me out with all
the flights and everything, so he's taking care of those
and I'm just following him, all right.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
So the the secretary for Copocco, Elliet Tobnan. Hey, Coppo,
big three point night. Thanks so much for your time, man,
Best of luck to the rest of the way. We'll
talk to you down the road.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Yep, thank you.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
Cracking forward Copocco following a big seven to four win
that I've been looking for him. There are a few
guys on this route, on this team that I love
talking to. We get to know these guys in their
personality off the air and whenever we can share that
with our fans on the air. He's one of those
guys and I look forward to talking to you every time.
Speaker 11 (09:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
I just I love the relationship that he has with
Ellie Toban as well.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
They live together, their roommates together, and when Yannie Newman
was here, it was kind of nice seeing the Finnish
big brother with those two as well. Seven four cracking
over Boston, big al over to you well.
Speaker 5 (10:09):
Key takeaways to me For me tonight were a great start.
I talked about that as one of the keys tonight.
The second period did not get sloppy tonight as we'd
seen in games pass, so the crack and tightening that
up there with three big goals that in that period,
the power play going three for four, that was a
huge part of the outcome tonight. Face offs cracking fifty
four percent. Usually they're kind of hovering around the fifty percent,
(10:30):
they were as high as as the mid sixties at
a certain point, so owning the dot was important. And
the last takeaway for me was Berkeley Catten. A lot
of first for him tonight. First goal, first multi goal,
first power play goal, first multi point game all in
one night, so a lot of first for him. Go
on to that puck that you only have so much
room to rent tape around the outside.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
James Stucky better have elite handwriting. That's all I got
to say.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
Three Stars brought to you by Mama Kay. Third star
goes to Vince Done he had two assists tonight. A
second start and went to Jered McCann. He had a
goal and one assist plus one on the night three
shots on goal as well, And then the number one
started no surprise, Berkeley Catten with two goals tonight plus one.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Big night for Seattle.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Mike Benton champing at the bit, ready to go to
recap this one over to you, Mike.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Take us home.
Speaker 12 (11:18):
Hey, the food hasn't even arrived. Yes, the night is
still certainly young. Well, the Kraken's showing that, at least
for Berkeley Catton's sake, when you get a playmaker and
a goal scorer going confidence can be a pretty scary thing.
And we saw what that can do where he finally
breaks through in a two goal Knights. So what's to
come after this, Well, that'll be a lot of fun
(11:38):
to keep watch on. Here as a crack in the night.
Get eleven players on the score sheet, coup Ocaco three
point nine and Berkeley Catton celebrating the first two goals
of his NHL career as a Kraken, putting up a
season high seven goals, and they take a big bite
out of the Boston Bruins, moving their record to eight
zho to one now in the last nine games and
(12:00):
keeping pace one point back of first place in the
Pacific Division at the halfway point of the regular season.

They are now eight oh and one in their last
nine games and depth very much a central figure of
this right here, as they have seventeen different goal scorers
now over the course of this run, and as a
crack and cruise to a seven to four victory over
the Boston Bruins and finishing a sweep of back to back,
they are certainly getting the hang of this here three

committed the most minor penalties in the NHL this season,
and the penalty bug bink them again with two penalties
they commit in a span of nine seconds and Jordan

the season on the five on three that coming at
a fifty from Matty Benier's and Ben's done, the Bruins
(17:58):
oh tying things up with David Potter Asterknox first of
two goals on the night, beating an icing call and
slipping his eighteen goal of the season from a tight
angle right past Joey Decord at twelve forty seven. Niketas
Adorov and rat hous Nadenov as well pick up the
assists on the play. The game tied at one after
twenty minutes of play. But after that, what youngster gets
(18:21):
into the mix to give the Crack in the lead.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Trying to reset up top held on side, ask for

Well, that didn't take long here because already on the

we are getting a message in saying, hey, Mike, re
brand the talk show right now talking Catton for tonight
Talking Catton just needed twenty seven here that from Jeff
and the four to two to five. That's the way
to get us going here live from Tom's Washbar, right
across from Climbing Pledge Arena, the crack and hanging a
season high seven goals on the Boston Bruins, who says
(35:31):
they can score this season and they explode for a
seven to four win, now eight zero and one in
the last nine games, and yes, folks, you better believe it.
Halfway point of the season, they are one point out
of first place in the Pacific Division. Crack and fans,
The ice may be cold, with the energy at Tom's
Watch Bar is electric just steps from Climbing Pledge Arena.
(35:54):
Tom's Watchbar all the sports, all the time, and it
kind of feels like we're gonna be talking all the time.
I'm here for tonight based on a lot to unpack here,
al but I mean a seven to four victory. I
kind of put it here this way to the KJR
text line into those also at X and at Twitter
as well. We heard so much beginning of the season,
(36:15):
over and over and over. It's not sustainable. The Kraken
might be dead in the water, they can't score, they're
getting caved in. Well, guess what three weeks does a
lot here to turn matters around? And what's been a
very wild, chaotic and absolutely bonkers Western Conference and this
NHL season here and the Kraken are finding ways here
(36:36):
to survive. So because we heard it for so long,
but to be in one point out of first place
at the halfway point of the season, you had to
believe if you're offered this three months ago, you're taking
it and running all the way to the bank. So
what do you believe right now in this team with
their hype that has put them one point out of
first place? Four nine four five one.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
Well, I'll tell you what I believe.
Speaker 5 (36:59):
I believe this team knows is a roller coaster and
they're at game forty one right now, halfway through the season.
But let's just recap real quick. November twenty third, this
team's in fifth place in the league. December nineteenth, thirty
first in the league, all right, that's seventeen days ago
January sixth. Coming into the game tonight, nineteenth in the league,
(37:19):
tied third in the Pacific, and after the win tonight,
the seven to four win against Boston, they are fifteenth
in the league right now and sitting in that third spot.
This team has been a roller coaster so far. But
we're only halfway into the season. Last we still got
forty one more games to go, and I don't know,
hold on to your seat, kids, it's gonna be crazy.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
And I'll tell you this.
Speaker 12 (37:39):
If anyone is looking at the cracking about three months
ago and saying, well, hey, nice little boring team you
have there. If you ask anybody within three or four
counties us prop of Seattle, Washington proper win in any way,
shape or form, are you bored? The answer is a
flat out.
Speaker 5 (37:59):
No, no. It's it's been some entertaining hockey as of late.
And you know they're obviously they're winning. They're doing it
in a fashionable style. They still don't have a Montour
and a Schwartz in the lineup yet, So you know,
when this team fully becomes healthy again, I don't know,
sky's the limit.
Speaker 12 (38:17):
Yeah, we're gonna hear from Jared mccannon looking like here
in just a little bit. Plus also head coach Lane
Lambert as I want to get here to the important
parts of this one and again tell us right now
four nine four five one on the KJR text line,
what's your belief right now? What has really built the
cracking up to massive kind of hype that they deserve
through forty one games of the season, And hey, go
(38:37):
ahead and be truthful here, because again this is a
boker's in chaotic season, especially in the Western Conference. I mean,
you win, you know, eight games out of nine, you
know your sky high or one point out of first place,
and hey, look at Winnipeg, you'll lose nine games in
a row, go winless and ten you're right smack dab
in the basement and you know, one minor slip, it
feels like, can really take your right back out of
(38:58):
this race right now? But yeah, even without Vinstone, even
without Brandon Montur, no, Jared McCann uh No, Jayden Schwartz,
I remember this back at Los Angeles, calling that game
by your side at Crypto. You find a way to win,
and they're finding a way to win once again.
Speaker 5 (39:13):
Well, I'm glad you mentioned Winnipeg too, because big reason
for their their slippage in the standings is Connor Hellibuck
not having him. They've put all their eggs into this
basket of this. This this top goaltender, and he is
a top goaltender. But when you don't have that, things
fall off quickly, and you know, on the on the
kracking side of the ice, you've got not just doing
Joey Decord, which did he didn't play his best game tonight.
(39:35):
He played a solid game, but above nine hundred and
a save percentage. Coming into the game tonight he was
nine toh three. You got h Philip Grubauer. His last
five starts, now that's the last two none, the least
three yea. His last five starts, he's averaged one goal against.
So Matt Murray's waiting in the wings to come off
the shelf. He's he's at nine hundred save percentage. You've
(39:55):
got goaltending that's ready for this kind of compressed schedule.
That's a big reason, not the only reason, a big
reason for this team having success.
Speaker 12 (40:03):
See, it's not just for the fact that we're looking
at seventeen games right in the face of this month
heading into the Olympic break coming up this next month,
but also where do you figure that other teams are
going to be when they come back and they've got players.
I mean, Boston's got seven guys going here to the Olympics.
Vegas has got nearly that you know, same total as well,
(40:24):
and you know you have McDavid going, you have dry
Syttle going as well on their side. I mean, where
are we going to be at with the injury side
of this versus say, the limited amount of players that
are going here on the Kraken side. This is going
to be very interesting to follow coming up in March,
when it seems like there is a ton app play
(40:44):
to gain your spot in this playoff picture.
Speaker 5 (40:46):
Well, I think when you go to the Olympics, one
of three things can happen. Number one, that's the easy one.
Nothing happens. You go, you maybe you don't meddle, your
team loses out early or whatever, and nothing happens. It's experience.
The second thing that can happen you just mentioned it.
There's a possibility of an injury, and I know we
don't hope for injuries, but there's a possibility of injuries.
The other the third thing is you raise your game.
(41:07):
And we talked to Ellie Tolvin about this, We talked
to Coppococco about this. You know, Groubauer's going. We think
Oscar Fisker Bolguard's going as well. It could raise your
game playing with the best in the world, and that's
what you hope for when you send guys to the Olympics.
But with these teams that are sending a lot of guys,
the odds of an injury go up considerably. So to
(41:27):
your point, who knows what this looks like after the Olympics.
Speaker 12 (41:30):
Before we get here to the text line again, four nine,
four or five to one, tell us what you believe
in most on the crack and forty one games end
of the season, they're eight zero and one now in
their last nine games, one point out first place in
the Pacific Division. Again, four nine, four or five to one.
I want to get to Berkeley Catton because his first
goal felt like a long time coming. And maybe it
(41:51):
wasn't the prettiest, maybe that Jeremy Swayman should have had that,
maybe that that shot was going why, But I mean
to me, how much does that make up for the
eight thousand times he was snaked on other chances? It
felt like maybe in the last roughly month and a half.
And then you get to the goal scored in period three.
It effectively put this game away after Coppocaco made to
(42:13):
five to two. But I go back and think, beware
of a natural playmaker and score when he picks up
confidence no matter what age, and that finish he had
in period three I thought told us a lot as
far as potential.
Speaker 5 (42:28):
Well, his first goal, I'm glad it wasn't a highlight
reel goal. I think that's because it wasn't a highlight
reel goal. It's a reminder to him that to score
in this league it's very difficult. You've got to put
shots on net, you've got to have some luck, you've
got to go hard to the front of the net.
And that time there it was a simple given goal
with him and McCann. But as I mentioned on the
broadcast early in the season, this is his twenty eighth
(42:51):
game tonight. Early in the season, he might have taken
that pass back from McCann, circled behind the net, looked
for a feed out front. Not now. Now he's got
more confidence, he's been playing with more confidence. He gets
that pass back from a camp boom, it's on net.
Swiman doesn't make the save. He wants to make a
bit of a dirty goal, but it counts as its
first goal. And then he gets one later in the
game that is a highlight reel. It's a give and
(43:13):
goal with Freddy Goadril Goudrow sends him down the middle,
four hand, backhand upstairs. How you doing.
Speaker 12 (43:18):
He looked like a fifth year veteran finishing that play
back in period three. It was a filthy backhand.
Speaker 5 (43:23):
It was It was a filthy backhand. So you got
you got his first, his first goal. You got a
highlight reel goal on the breakaway. Now he's playing with
even more confidence. After taking care of that stat, you
could we can argue in a separate conversation about whether
he should be at this level, whether he should have
been this level at the start of the season. Injuries
gave him the opportunity he's been developing over those twenty
(43:45):
seven games, and I think it's fantastic that he wears
twenty seven and after tweven to twenty seven games of
not scoring, he gets one in the twenty eighth.
Speaker 12 (43:51):
By the way, the Crack and wins seven to four,
also picking up their first win, their first win in
the third jerseys. I can say that loud and proud.
I'm a big fan of them as well, so it
was it was a matter of time coming here.
Speaker 5 (44:03):
Yeah, that also felt good, you know, and I mean
a lot of first tonight, in fact, not just the
first and in the in the alternate jerseys, but going
back to Caton, it was his first goal. It was
his first multi goal game, first power play goal, first
multi point game. So a lot of things got ticked
off the list tonight for for players in the team four.
Speaker 12 (44:21):
Nine four kjir text line again Texas right now, we
get one here for the two five three. Happy birthday
to ever it fits you fits. Yeah, no, you're listening
back there in the right home. Ye, Happy birthday, Happy,
happy twenty seventh birthday. By the way, live it loud
and proud again two five three, Happy birthday to fits
as well. We get one here for the four to
two five belief is high. After mixing and matching some lines,
(44:44):
they have found something. All lines applying offensive pressure, the
Benier's line, Malonson's line as well on the fourth line
Shane Right, Berthley Caton as well noticeably improved confidence. There
is a lot of upside here for this that from
the four to two five one question post and a
fair one here from the two five three just making
out of the Mason Marshman trade the crack in eight
(45:05):
ozho to one. Ever since that trade as well, so
there has been some new life that reaction from the
two five three out. We talked to players a lot
in the room and they're gonna point to a lot
of I think stability across the lineup which happened after
this trade.
Speaker 4 (45:20):
But what was your rate on this?
Speaker 5 (45:22):
Yeah, I mean it's you know, two things don't always
have to equate to each other. Yes, they happened at
the same time. Sometimes a change in the locker room.
It's like it's like making a change in your goaltender
during the game. Yeah, your goaltender gives up a few
bad goals, you make a change.
Speaker 28 (45:36):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (45:36):
Sometimes it's just something like that to spark your team
that gets them going in the right direction. Maybe it
was the trade, maybe it had nothing to do with
the trade.
Speaker 12 (45:44):
Two five three is saying do they need Brandon Montur
and Jayden Schwartz back, but who do they bump in
depth is really good here in this last half of
the season that from the two five three.
Speaker 4 (45:55):
Here here's where I look at.
Speaker 12 (45:57):
I mean, Brandon Montour has Ryan Lindgren by his ko
Floria has done a terrific job of filling in that
gap ever since the Krack and loss Montor due to injury.
This is where it gets more interesting here, I think
with Jaden Schwartz, because you've had Coppo Coco, Benier's every
playing so great up Brunt and then I mean we'll
have to wait and see here, but Berkeley Catton getting
(46:19):
two on the board, Shane right, Jereed mccannon by his side.
I mean you got to fit Schwartz in there somewhere
because he brings again leadership, the ability to move the puck,
and of course that NetFront presence that we talk about
all the time.
Speaker 5 (46:30):
Yeah, I mean, he's gonna want to slot back into
probably the second or first line. You got Jared mccannon
on the third line right now. I know he's itching
to get up the lineup as well. But Mikey, these
are good problems to have. You know, it's nice when
you're healthy and you can decide.
Speaker 12 (46:43):
It's not just a cliche, but it's internal competition. We
heard that all along and this is where it's also applied.
Speaker 4 (46:48):
You know, it absolutely is. So you know, I don't
know what the answers are.
Speaker 5 (46:52):
They're gonna have to be some tough decisions though, because
there will be some healthy scratches for guys that are
playing well right now. You've got a fourth line right
now tonight of Carchie, Myers and Malanson that also Winterton
was playing on. So really four guys that can play
on that three man line. With Schwartz coming back, he's
got to occupy one of those wing spots. Something's got
to be slid down. We've also got the trade deadline looming,
(47:15):
which you have to factor into these discussions. What it is,
if it's anything, we don't know. But again, these are
good problems to have.
Speaker 12 (47:22):
I had a very interesting note from our friend Chris Crawford,
who's a big baseball fish, not of of course in
this town, but also follows a Crack and a ton,
and he was of the belief that you have to
look maybe look at being a buyer now at some point.
But this is where it gets tricky, I think, because
you have so many teams who are so close right
now in the Western Conference and the Eastern Conference, and
(47:45):
it leads you to the question how much are they
going to now kind of slide back into a position
of we want to hang on to what we have
right now because we don't know yet if we're going
to be out of this race in three weeks or
if gonna be in prime contention now.
Speaker 5 (48:01):
Well, I mentioned the roller coaster that the schedule has
been on over the over the first.
Speaker 4 (48:06):
Three months of the season.
Speaker 5 (48:07):
You don't want to see that roller coaster go back
down again.
Speaker 4 (48:11):
But you don't know.
Speaker 5 (48:12):
And I think if you're management for the Crack, and
you've got to figure out pretty quickly here over the
next month, month and a half what you need to
get you into the playoffs and get you deep into
the playoffs.
Speaker 12 (48:22):
Jared mckinn is waiting back down stairs that climbing pledge
arena right across from here at Tom's watch bar of
the Krack and win seven four over the Boston Bruins,
and here's McCann meeting.
Speaker 4 (48:33):
With the media and went over it's.
Speaker 29 (48:37):
The best I said, finally, you know, it's he's been
working really hard. We were due. You know, it's just
keep plugging away. I'm, you know, really happy for him.
Speaker 5 (48:46):
He said, a lot of you guys have been going
over on in the in the dressing room and trying
to keep his spirits up because he's never gone this
long with that.
Speaker 4 (48:52):
What kind of stuff would you say to him?
Speaker 29 (48:54):
Just keep your head up. You know you're gonna get
these chances. He's had a bunch of chances last couple
of games here, and just stick with it, stay positive,
and eventually it's it's gonna come in ways. So you
saw tonight obviously made made a pret skilled play there
in the second goal, and you know he's he's great
to play with. This morning, Lambert said that you've been
a whole on mentor to two linemates. Does it feel
that way to you, I'm getting old, That's that's what
(49:16):
it feels like. Yeah, you know, I went through what
they went through, right, and I'm I'm uh, you know,
I've learned from it, and obviously I've had my my
ups and downs in my career, so I'm just trying
to help them those more.
Speaker 30 (49:28):
Second the goal you scored, it looked like you were
looking for some confirmation, like did that go in? You
look like somebody tell me if I should bother celebrating.
Speaker 31 (49:38):
No.
Speaker 29 (49:39):
I as soon as I looked up, I saw the
light on, so I didn't know if it if it
got it on time. So I looked at the bench
and everybody's like kind of looking at me downfound it,
So I didn't know, and I don't think they did
really either. So but yeah, no, luckily it wouldn't time.
How where were you of exactly what the timing kind
of situation was there?
Speaker 31 (49:57):
Close?
Speaker 5 (49:57):
Did you know it was that close to the end?
Speaker 29 (49:59):
No, no, on at all. You know, Jenner made a
hell of a play there, and I just try to
get off a quick as I couldn't sure.
Speaker 32 (50:04):
There is a lot of offense in this game at
both ends. It was kind of your take on just
how this one played out and how you guys performed.
Speaker 29 (50:10):
Yeah, it was kind of a running gun type of
game tonight, not something we're used to kind of playing.
But you know, we showed that we could score goals.
But you know, again, we we know we can be
a bit better defensively for sure, and.
Speaker 12 (50:24):
You know, I want to make sure again Jared mccam
meeting with the media downstairs after the crack and beat
the brewin seven and four of that, that fourth goal
gets some part of the conversation here out because that
could have been a major turning point, and the goal
did beat zero's on the clock. That's what defines a
good goal or no goal as well. But I mean,
on the flip side of this, if if it comes
(50:46):
too late and it's still a three to two game,
I mean, Boston's going back to that room kind of
feeling as if that they have new life, which you know,
I thought a lot of us had a big sigh
of relief that that goal was going to count.
Speaker 5 (50:59):
Well, you never rest on any two goal lead in
the NHL, and that's what it was after that second period.
But when it's a one goal lead, it's anyone's game
at that point. So yeah, it would have definitely changed
the way the third period looked had that goal not counted.
And you know, Boston fought hard. Give them a lot
of credit to get back in this game and make
it close there at the end and make it a
two goal game late in that third period.
Speaker 12 (51:20):
Yeah, they end their five game road trip right now
with a loss, and you can tell maybe at the
end they had some tire legs going out there. But
they're still very much in this mix right now, three
points back of the cut line in the Western Conference Pittsburgh,
and all the retooling that they're doing, they're still holding
down wild card spot number two, winning five in a
row under head coach dam Mwtes. There have been some
(51:42):
terrific head coach additions paying off in beginning right here
with Lane Lambert as well.
Speaker 5 (51:47):
Yeah, I mean the guys have bought in. They've bought
into this system where they know that if they play it,
if they play it well, they'll take care of their
own end. First, they'll take care of their their jobs defensively,
but when those opportunities arise off relatively, they've got carte
blanche to go out and execute what they did tonight.
Speaker 12 (52:03):
Speaking of Lane Lambert, we'll hear from his reaction after this.
We are live at Tom's Watch Bar, Mike Benton, al
Kiniski and you after the Kraken Cruz seven to four
over the Boston Bruins eight oh and one. Now in
the last nine games. This is Tucking Krakeing on ninety
three to three KJRFM.
Speaker 2 (52:22):
If you've got to come in about tonight's cracking game,
make sure we hear about it. Just text us at
four nine, four five one. Now back to Tucking Kraken
with Mike Benton on Sports Radio ninety three point three
kjr FM.
Speaker 12 (52:37):
We are across from climbing the Pledgerina at Tom's watch bar.
Mike Betton, alkiniski with you seven to four Kracking gone
with the Boston Bruins and back downs here as we
go for more reaction right now with Cracking at Coach Lane,
Lambert Well Coach.
Speaker 33 (52:51):
About a month ago we were in here talking about
the team needing find needing to find ways to win
in very low scoring, defensive games. Now four games straight,
you guys have scored four or more goals. What is
that the result of?
Speaker 4 (53:02):
In your mind?
Speaker 31 (53:04):
Pucks are going in for us? Uh? You know, I
mean we we had some opportunities in those games when
we were low scoring, where you know, we maybe couldn't
quite find the back of the net. But things are
going in right now. Uh, sometimes it has a way
of you know, ebbs and flows of the season kind
of thing. Power play was outstanding again tonight.
Speaker 33 (53:24):
How did you see your team build confidence and kind
of build some swagger throughout this one?
Speaker 31 (53:29):
This game, well, I thought we uh, you know, I
liked the way our team, you know, these back to backs,
we don't use anything as an excuse.
Speaker 4 (53:38):
I thought we battled.
Speaker 31 (53:39):
I thought we worked. I thought we were uh, you know,
we got a little fortunate right off the hop they
hit a couple of goal posts. But you know, for
the most part, I thought we were dialed in and
ready to play. And you know, I thought I thought
we did a lot of good things tonight.
Speaker 30 (53:58):
Lane, I'd like to stay with the confidences theme. I
wonder how much you attribute the team's turnaround to confidence.
Just like when you get in a slump, it feels
like nothing's going to work now, you know, cat and scores,
and then a couple period later he scores again. Maddy
Benier's hadn't scored for ten games. He scores, and then
(54:19):
he scores again.
Speaker 4 (54:20):
You get one.
Speaker 30 (54:21):
Power play goal, then you get a second and a third.
So since it's largely the same team, how much do
you attribute to the confidence that now thinking it's going
to work.
Speaker 31 (54:32):
Yeah, no, there's no question. I mean, once once things
goal for you, you can gain confidence. It's a huge thing,
you know. And through that whole stretch that we had,
you know, it was a mental battle to try and
keep your confidence, you know, doing a lot of good things,
but when things aren't going your way, you have a
(54:53):
tendency maybe to squeeze your stick or lose your confidence.
Right now, we've got guys with their swagger back, which
is nice, you know, and we just have to make
sure that, you know, we continue going on a nightly basis.
There is no complacency allowed coach.
Speaker 32 (55:06):
Obviously, Berkeley Catton was happy to get his first goal
and the guys were happy for him. From a coach's perspective,
I mean, you've seen him go through his struggles where
he hasn't been able to produce and he's so used
to doing that in his career. What does that mean
for you as a coach to see him get off this.
Speaker 31 (55:20):
I thought it was awesome, you know, And I've said
a few times, you know, prior to now that once
he scores, I think he'll you know, he'll score a
few you know, obviously he's caught another one tonight as well,
So beautiful goal by the way, and uh, you know,
it's huge. He's a he's a well like teammate. He works,
(55:42):
he's learning, he's growing, and you know, I've said it
many many times. I love the way he wants the
puck and it was nice to see him get that
first NHL goal.
Speaker 12 (55:53):
And that reaction from Crack and heead coach Lane Lambert
capping off Caton's first career NHL goal night and first
multi goal night as well. By the way, Maddy Benier's
halfway point of the season on pace for fifty two points,
so even more of an uptick last year from forty three,
and you can cap that off to with this two
way game as well.
Speaker 5 (56:11):
Yeah, Maddie's a fortieth multi point game as a cracking
as well, So him getting it getting it today was huge.
Speaker 12 (56:18):
Minnesota Wild up next on Thursday, and this is going
to be quite able to climb just based on the
fact who they got this last month and that blockbuster
trade for Quinn Hughes with the wild Cat think up
nine goals last two games to the Los Angeles Kings,
and they come off a foward.
Speaker 4 (56:34):
To two loss.
Speaker 12 (56:35):
So you think about it, the Quinn Hughes trade massive
bump on their back end, massive bump in leadership. But
also I think about how much they've also given a
bump here with that to Carell Caprisov. He's a star.
Matt Boldy, he's a star as well. Forty nine points,
forty eight points respectively. And you have Joel Erickson Eck
thirty two and forty four and one of the best
net frond presences in the entire game out.
Speaker 5 (56:57):
Yeah, sitting at third right now in the Western Conference
with fifty eight points, but tied with Dallas, so tied
for second in the Western Conference. Uh, this is a
this is a tough team to beat. They they're they
They're They're stacked with the talent. They've got Queen Hughes
on their team. Now they're looking to go deep in
the playoffs, and uh, the Crackling cannot afford to uh,
you know, off the gas, so to speak. They've got
(57:19):
to come into this game preparing, just like they're playing
color out every single time. Minnesota's no difference. They're a
tough team, they're big team, they'll play fast, very skilled.
Speaker 12 (57:27):
That's on Thursday, seven o'clock, and I'm sure a lot
of folks here in the building will do the same
thing here for us, the crack in one point back
at first place, the halfway mark. We raise the glass
to that.
Speaker 4 (57:38):
Shall way.
Speaker 12 (57:38):
Cheers, friends, come on down and join us here at
aol Yeah, Dia Cooke. Here in this one glass, water's
