Speaker 1 (00:00):
And the cracking power play.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Lord.

Speaker 3 (00:02):
This is the postgame show, brought to you by Toyota
of Olympia.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Now for an in depth look at your Kraken Hockey.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
It's the post game on the Global Credit Union Kraken
Audio Network.

Speaker 4 (00:16):
You know, normally I would say, for the final time tonight,
welcome back inside of whichever arena that we're playing in.
But we've got Mikey b spinning the tunes on the
ones in twos behind us, and he's gonna carry you
through the postgame show from live right here. So I'm
gonna shelve that greeting for Thursday Crack and Fall four

(00:36):
to one here to the Washington Capitals. And I think,
when when I go back and look at this game, partner,
it's going to be a little too.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Little, too late.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
As Seattle for the first forty five minutes of this
game didn't quite seem to have their legs about them.
There were some spurts late in the second period, but
it wasn't until maybe the five minute mark of the
third when the Kraken really turned things on. They had
some posts, they had some good chances, but still not
enough to get the win here in Washington.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Well, you know, there's a lot of things you can
look at for the stats to and see about the
second game in two days that might play into those stats.
And the one that said to me were takeaways. Takeaways
for Seattle tonight were three at the end of the
second period to seven for the Capitals, so over twice
as many takeaways. Takeaways come from tracking down players, winning
stick battles, winning board battles, which in your second game

(01:30):
in two days, you just you're not as energetic to do.
So I wasn't surprised to see and it didn't get
much better in the third period despite the number of
opportunities that Seattle had, they got one more takeaways, so
ending the game with four and the Capitals with eight.
So that takeaways column is usually something I keep a
track of. In those second of back to backs.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
We brought up the physicality as well in the first period,
and I don't think it ever really even doubt, but
I think the Capitals maybe I don't want to say
they backed off, but it wasn't as physical of a
game through the final thirty minutes as it was in
the first half.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Well, again, in that stat call him, there are a
bunch of singles on the hit column, and the cracking
ended with thirteen. Only one player that had three hits,
Jayden Schwartz. You know, and James Swartz plays a very
physical game, but he's very offensively talented as well. I
don't think he should be leading that particular column, but
as a leader on the team, he wanted to go
out and set the tone and play physical and he did. Unfortunately,

(02:27):
not enough other guys did the same thing.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
I can point to a number of individual performances. I
think tonight for Seattle, in my opinion, that that did well,
and for me that top line Cat and Beaniars. Everly,
they are really clicking. And you can see the speed
and the skill of Berkeley Catton every shift he plays.
You're seeing the confidence grow, the creativity. You can see
the synapses if you will, in his brain. Yeah, it's

(02:52):
starting to really click with him over the last two games.
But Shane Wright, Yannie Newman had some good chances here
night Winter Chin, even though we didn't call his name
a whole lot, he was battling along the boards. I
thought Stevenson, you mentioned Schwartz getting in the.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Mix as well.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
I think a number of individual players had success but
again collectively, it wasn't there.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah, I mean, I go, I'll go back to Jayden Schwartz,
only it wasn't the hits, but he had four shots
on goal as well, and in a game where the
cracket only ended up with seventeen shots on goal, I
think that's about a third of the shots on goals.
So a great game for him, and you want to
see that again in these back to backs. You want
to see good games from the leaders, because the leaders
are the ones that set the standard for the younger players.

(03:36):
And if you're a Berkeley Cat note there, if you're
a Yannie Newman, you're looking to these guys saying this
is how you have to play to win in a
back to back, or compete in a back to back.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Crack and fall four to one here in Washington. Al
over to you for your final thoughts and your three stars.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Yeah, I wrote down first effort matters and back to
back game is as exhausted as you can be. You
want to see that effort each and every shift night.
Over the course of sixty minutes, it got better and
better for the cracking, and you saw the results get
better and better. Finally getting on the board health matters
as well. With six players out right now and these
are all starters. This is Evans, Cocko Montour, Gadroau, McCann, Marchman.

(04:15):
So you're hoping maybe you might get one of those
back for the Winnipeg game, but you might not see
them until you get back home either. So here's hoping
that those guys get healthy soon. The cat and experiment
continues to be very positive. As I mentioned earlier, thirteen
minutes and forty nine seconds of time on the ice
and Philly one assist. Tonight he got eighteen minutes of
time on the ice. He was a plus one, so

(04:36):
things looking positive there. And then my last takeaway was
that no quit mentality will always stand out and whether
it's a positive or a negative thing, and tonight it
was a positive thing because you saw that from the
Kraken through until the final final buzzer. Three starts tonight
brought to you my mama, Kay mom. All three of
them are capitals. So Logan Thompson was your third started night.

(04:58):
He had a good game. He had to come up
with a couple of big say saves, stopping all seventeen
or eighteen shots on goal for the cracking second star
goes to Ryan Leonard. He had a goal and he
was plus one. And your first starting night goes to
Jacob Chickrin. He had a goal as well. He was
also plus one.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
It's six forty one in Vancouver.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
I know.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
I mean, dude, dinner is being put on the table
right now.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
Mama, kay I get don't get used to it.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
I'm sorry. We're coming back home soon. Yeah. Yeah, we're looking.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
At ten thirty ten stars coming up more often after this.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
That'll do it for Al and I.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
The cracking fall maya four to one score here in Washington,
the Seattle never mind, hold on, I was talking to
Al in my mind. I just said that out loud.
We're good, cracking in. We had a peg on Thursday.
We're all delirious.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
I want to go home, Shelle Less, I miss you.
I love you. Three days.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
I'll take the trash out, all that nonsense for one
cracking fall.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Mike Bitton, get me out of.

Speaker 6 (05:58):
Here, guys, I feel it is a real thing. Well, hey, tonight,
the crack and chasing a game early on. They picked
up the pace in the third period here, but unfortunately,
well the hourglass ran out on any comeback hopes here
for this evening in the first matchup of two and
the crack and fall for one of the Washington Capitals
here at Capitol one Arenas so a lot more to
cover here at postgame coverage.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Glad you are sticking with us.

Speaker 6 (06:21):
More to come, including our highlights, our scores, more reaction
from downstairs and look ahead here when the Cracking complete
this road swing on Thursday and Winnipeg and then Everett
al and I can get back to trash taking out
duties as well your final score once again. Capitals four,
Crack and one. We're back in a bit. This is

the Kraken, having to play from behind very early in
the third period certainly showed some signs of light, but
unfortunately the Hourglasses ran out on any comeback hopes after

(09:15):
they cut the lead down to two despite some promising
shifts by Berkeley, Catton and crew, but Washington gets the
final say, wrapping things up empty that goal by Tom
Wilson and your final score this evening the Capital's four
and the Kraken one in this fifth game of six
on the road. For the Kraken, who fall to three
two and two, they stay at eight points on the season,

(09:38):
Washington improving to five and two they have ten points
now completing their four game homestand.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Timing out for the highlights.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
This Sevil crack and drive to the net scoring recamp
is brought to you by the all new Chevy Tracks
now bigger and Boulder Tracks is the perfect assist for
all of life's adventures. The crack and a couple of
good looks early period one, trying to get the legs
all sorted out here for the second game of back
to back and nearly cashing in on Logan Thompson, but

(10:08):
approaching the eight minute mark, who comes right back on
the Washington.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
Side, Brandon Deoham down the right wing against Vince dunn
Ay to the slot, Carlson in front, back door tap
in they score Nick down in transition for the Capitals
down the right side, gave the puck up, stuck.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
To the back door, and womped right in I'll have
it thirty to play. Hey, you're the first cap strike first.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
One nothing, Well, conventional wisdom says in hockey, second game
of back to back, if you're playing from behind, that's
aftly a big hill to climb, and the Cracking unfortunately
falling behind in period one and that's where their issues began,
as Nick Down got his first goal of the season
from John Carlson and Brandon Douham to make it a
one nothing advantage, Carlson extending his point street to four

(10:59):
consent scutive games. As a Cracking unfortunately we're lost back
in transition defense and Dowd converting to make it a
one nothing game, that score holding up into period two,
the Cracking trying to find a good shift early on
or a moment to get them started, but Washington with
other ideas, and who comes right back here in the

(11:20):
first minute of play, Jayden.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Schwartz back to the line fresh off the bench, and
a shot for Myers turned aside rebound SCORESS Jana Schwartz
from the near circle beats Logan Thompson and the Cracking
get their first goal of the game, three to one,
sixteen ten to play here This third well, it was

(11:46):
Jayden Schwartz from behind the Capitol's net that dug that
puck out and recognized that the Cracking were on a change.
It was Ben Myers coming from the bench that was
coming back into the offensive zone.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Schwartz put it back out to the blue line. Ben
picked it up, got a big shot, which fourth Logan
tops in to give up a big rebound. That rebound
went right to Schwartz. This game's three to one now and.

Speaker 6 (12:07):
It was a Kraken who sees that moment in period three,
But unfortunately it was after the Capitals got a pair
of key goals in the second period, scoring in a
span of one minute and eight seconds. Ryan Leonard twenty
five seconds in his third from Alexei Protus.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
And Martin Farravari made it two nothing.

Speaker 6 (12:23):
Jacob Chickrian following up on a power play goal one
thirty three into the second from Alex Ovechkin and Dylan Strom.
But then Schwartz and the goal that you heard helped
get matters going for the Kraken into period three after
they had just nine shots on net in the first
forty minutes, and it was Schwartz's second goal the season,
part into a gaping cage from the right circle. Ben

(12:46):
Myers fresh office recall from Ahl Coachelle Evalley picked up
the assist and the Kraken on the board, trailing by two,
and we're looking to get back into it even further.
They had a couple of key power play chances, including
two great looks for Yannie Newman on the subsequent power
play after they got on the board, but a couple
of posts and also a key stop by Logan Thompson

(13:08):
kept them at bay, and then it was Tom Wilson
wrapping things up on the empty net goal of nineteen
ten a period three, Nick Dowd and Protus had the
assist to officially wrap it up Tom Wilson's fourth, making
it four to one capitals over the Kraken, and that
holding up as the final score shots on them heavily
in favor of Washington thirty five seventeen.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
The third period, though, told.

Speaker 6 (13:32):
A very valiant story as far as the Kraken and
their efforts to get back into this game. It was
even up at a to piece and also forcing Washington
into a pair of early penalties. The Kraken, though coming
up empty on those power plays. More on that in
a bit, but as al Kadiski mentioned earlier as far
as back to backs, playing from behind, and for the

(13:52):
Kraken specifically the personnel that they had out of the
lineup here, you certainly felt that strain as they were
trying to seek any kind of answer to get things going,
and unfortunately it was too big of a battle here
on this Tuesday eighting with players like Mason Marchman out,
Jared mccannon out, Brandon Montour on the back end, Coppocaco
on Ir, Ryker Evans on IR, Freddie Gadriu on IR,

(14:16):
and the cracking. Certainly, you need to get some bodies
healthy here, very very soon. The win and that goes
to Logan Thompson sixteen saves on seventeen shots, Lawson net
goes to Matt Murray, who turns in thirty one saves
on thirty four shots. Time now for the cors Light

to find some way to get right back into this game.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
Even first there not ears rims it around the boards.
I just want to put back toward the net.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Every shoots off the poles. Holly caught Thompson leaning again
Jordan everly so close to the second goal of.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
The game for Seattle, and.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
It was a feed from Berkeley Cotton who'd picked that
puck up under the court, cut to the front of
the net and saw every on the fire side. That
was a tap him.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Oh.

Speaker 6 (15:23):
Berkeley Canton seeing his seis time elevate in period three
and put into some pretty high leverage spots and one.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Big instance right there.

Speaker 6 (15:30):
If they can find a way to connect and get
this game to within the three to two score, they're
all of a sudden back in business. But of the
post sitting Washington on that play the crack and then
go to the man advantage about approaching halfway through period
three and again looking for a way to cut the
deficit down to one.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
Every Tippeneir shot turn aside rebound out of the reach
of Yanni Knuiman, he fanned on it alt of three
on one shorthanded Wilson fair vari.

Speaker 6 (16:00):
Back door plight of the goal.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
Has that'll be set out of play.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Connor mcmigoal was.

Speaker 6 (16:05):
Right there krack and go zero for two in the
man advantage. And again if they can find a way
to convert on one of those great looks, they're right
back in business. Here for a big third period push
that unfortunately fell short this evening and had a big
moment to keep the score at three to one, where
Washington finished things off at a four to one final
That brings us to the big win now brought to

Speaker 17 (26:57):
What did you see different between what you're seeing that
compared you know, the first half of the game. Well,
I thought we I thought we made more plays in
the third period. You know, we had times we got
we we inflicted pain on ourselves by turning bucks over,
not making plays quick enough, you know, certainly early on

(27:18):
in the game, and you can't do that. We have
to be better than that. But you know, in the
third period, I thought we made more plays, and I
thought we had a pretty good push in the third period.
But you know, you can't. You can't put yourself in
a position where you're down through nothing in this league.
And it happened really fast at the start of a second.

Speaker 4 (27:39):
Well, you've said this isn't an excuse for you before,
But how much it's having all these regular guys out
impact let's say, the cohesion between guys that are used
to having there.

Speaker 17 (27:49):
Well, I mean, certainly there's you know, there's a maybe
a chemistry when you have your players in there as
opposed to don't. But you know, that's that's just the
way it goes. You know, we had some guys step up.
I thought Ben Myers played well tonight after traveling all day.
Look at we we have an opportunity here. We can

(28:10):
lament on the last couple of games here. We have
an opportunity here in Winnipeg to you know, go five
hundred on this road trip through the adversity that we're
going through and.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
