Speaker 1 (00:00):
Is the Krekking Postgame Show, brought to you by Toyota
of Olympia. Now for an in depth look and your
Kraken Hockey, It's the post game on the Emerald Queen
Casino Kraken Audio Network.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
For the final time tonight, for the final time this season.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Welcome back inside of ball Arena here in Denver, Colorado
alongside Alconisky. Ever fitsy with you Cracking falling by a
five to score to close out this three game road
trip and all I think we're gonna look back at
this game and the score is not indicative of how
it was. I thought a very sloppy first period for
Seattle turned into some pretty good hockey in periods two
(00:37):
and three. They had a really good showing from Coppolcaco.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
He had a bunch of Hitsinnii had his first goal.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Seattle getting a number of opportunities, a number of chances,
but ultimately it was the Avalanche who got the victory
here on home ice.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
Yeah, the third period ended with two high danger chances
for the Cracking just one for Colorado. As I said,
it seemed like they were holding on as best they
could over the course of the game. It was fifty
seven fifty seven shot attempts for the Avalanche and forty
one for Seattle, so you could see how you can
see how they were putting the puck to the net
quite a bit more than the Kraken.
Speaker 5 (01:11):
I think.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
On on top of all of that, what were you
what would be your biggest differences between tonight's game and
the first two in Chicago and Vegas.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
Yeah, I think tonight's game that it was probably the best,
best of the three, but I think there's so much
more to go. I think that the first period was
a challenge, you know, the penalty, the penalties that were taken,
the kinds of penalties that were taken. But I thought
the team battled back when it was three to two.
You felt like there was a chance these guys could
tie this up and get this done. But Colorado pushing
(01:42):
a little harder than Seattle did.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
And like I said, this game not indicative of the score.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
You've had two lopsided scores back to that game six
to two last night, five two here tonight, Really it
was a three, three to two game if not for
the ul groan Yeah, empty netters to complete his hatchet.
But I mean, if you're the Krack and coming back
for next week, You've got Vancouver and then you've got
(02:08):
Utah at home.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
They've won eight in a row. You welcome in Vancouver again.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
You've got Edmonton, You've got the New Jersey Devils, and
then you go on the road out east for five
and that's not gonna be an easy road trip as well.
January historically for Seattle has been when they've put together
some pretty good bounced backs, and they're going to need
another one here this season.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Yeah, not just a bounce back like one or two games.
They're gonna have to string some together to get back
in this playoff hunt. And you know, going on the
road can sometimes do that, having a reset that Christmas
can sometimes do that for you. But they're gonna have
to get that done to get back in this playoff race.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
I want to remind people of something way back in
two thousand nineteen, Wow, Saint Louis blew, Way back back
when Mike Benson became an LA Dodgers fan. Way back
in twenty nineteen, the Saint Louis Blues were in last
place twenty nine thirty place in the NHL at the
end of January.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Al the end of January. The Blues go out to
a bar. They play Gloria a bunch of times.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
They run up a hefty bar tab Vince Done, James
Schwartz and the rest of the Blues go on to
win the cup. So I mean, it could be a
lot worse. It has been a lot worse. If you're
the Seattle Cracking, You're now fifteen nineteen and two going
into the break. Not ideal. The sky is not falling, however,
But you're right. They have to string together some solid performances,
(03:31):
good wins as well here over the next ten to
fifteen games to get back.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Into this playoff race.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Five to two loss here in Denver for the Cracking
to the Avs, al some takeaways and Mamakay's three stars.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Yeah for First of all, the penalties from the first
period were the than disappointed even into the second period.
A delay, a game, a trip, a hold, a hook,
mostly stick penalties won. Just a bad clear bite by Toten,
but that's uncharacteristic for this Crack team. I thought Copocaco
had his best game so far since he'd been here. Obviously,
he got the goal, had a chance to get the
(04:06):
Tiang goal, and maybe that would have changed things considerably
had he buried that. He also had five hits. You know,
we've talked about him being a big man out there
playing big. He's not afraid for the body around.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Either, and all of that were having no practices on
exactly well, he's learning this system on the fly.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
What we saw was a raw cop. That's what we saw.
He'll get refined here over the next half dozen games.
And then the third I thought Joey Decord played well
also when they when the game was three to two.
He was doing his best to keep his team in it. Obviously,
the two empty enners don't reflect poorly on him. Mama kay,
your three stars, they are all avs. Your third star
is Nathan McKinnon. He had to assist. Your second star
(04:43):
was Miko Ranton and he had two also, he was
plus one and your first star, no surprise you all.
Kildranta with the hot.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Trick, I don't do it, crack and fall five two
here in Denver.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Jesse Trachio up here in the booth, one of the
best producers.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
We've had, really good producers this trip.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Bill Karen Bellas in Chicago, Ray Raggle last night in Vegas.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Jesse here tonight in Denver.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Probably three of them, I think, probably three of the best,
though I know everyone in this building is wearing an
ugly christmaswater and Jesse is dressed for all business.
Speaker 5 (05:13):
Love it, buddy.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Thanks for all you do. We'll see you next year.
We're not done, Mike Benen coming up.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Joyus, Kwanza, Mary Festivus.
Speaker 2 (05:23):

is fun.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
We hope it is safe, full of great food, great
drinks and great people. We will talk to you next
Saturday in Vancouver. Mike Benten, what.
Speaker 6 (05:35):
You got all right?
Speaker 5 (05:36):

Speaker 7 (05:36):

around the competition.
Speaker 6 (09:31):
First period, the.
Speaker 7 (09:32):
Avalanche went up one nothing, Cale mccarr and the power
plays scoring his eleven through traffic Miko Rantonen Nathan McKinnon
as well with the assist to put Colorado up by one.
And if anyone's played Colorado, they know this season how
tough the Avalanche are with a first period lead after
twenty minutes. So what does the Shane right line have
(09:52):
to do with this response?
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Back to right in front? Shut? But can scoress shared?
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Look?
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Can off the snide and the Seattle Cracket have.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
This game tied to a five left in the first
one one?
Speaker 4 (10:08):
Well it's a beauty too is Ray gets that puck
down the right hand side from a field feet from
mc gordon finds McCann in the hash marks area and
mckenn puts it glove side.
Speaker 7 (10:18):
Up under the bar and with that a brand new
game as a Krack in make it a one to
one tie, Jared McCann getting the Crack in their first
five on five goal for a Ford in ten days,
five games in twelve periods as well Shane Wright setting
up the play with the assist Yanni Gord as well
with a helper coming at seventeen fifty five. Yanni Gord
(10:41):
as well hitting a benchmark with that assist, marking the
two hundredth of his career on that goal to make
it a one to one game again, Gord earning his
two hundredth career assist and becoming the sixth active undrapped
player with as many as well on that one one
one tie. Into the dressing room after one period of
(11:03):
play and into the second, the Kraken get an offensive
zone draw and a new forward ready for the spotlight.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
Right here, Coppo.
Speaker 13 (11:10):
Coco shoots spotzs Cocko off the face off hammers it
in his first goal as a member of.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
The Seattle Cracking, and the Cracking take a two to.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
One, need fifteen fifty nine to play in the second A.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Coco's a a leeftenant shot, but he's over on that
right wing. Matty Veneer's wins the face off softly over
to his side and I talked about quick shots. Coco
steps over, puts it on.
Speaker 7 (11:36):
Net two one, cracking Matty beniir is going eight to
thirteen to the face off circle and that one a
big one. As far as a draw one to set
up the cracking two to one lead in Coppo Cocko.
Speaker 6 (11:47):
That trade already paying off.
Speaker 7 (11:49):
He gets his fifth goal of the season coming at
four oh one, and also in a game where he's
starting to really thaw out for his game and also
showing what he can do as far as five on
five with his line here for the sevening along with
Matty Beneers and jayde Schwartz. That trio the sevening looking
pretty good here in this contest thirteen to three, as
(12:10):
far as shot attempts at five on five showing a
lot in Copocaco with a bullet right past Mackenzie Blackwood
to make it a two to one game at four
oh one into period two, again Matty Beaneers with an
assist on the play, but Colorado coming right back swiftly.
Eleven seconds after the goal, Valarry Natchushkin tied it up
his eleven for Nathan McKinnon to make it a two
(12:33):
to two game four twelve into the second period, and
then later on Yoel kivy Ronta getting his game, his
night and the wheels reveed up ice ol foot.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
Race to the buck you know, the offensive zone comes
racted to their side, kivvy on top score.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
He resident down in the left wing, gifts it up to.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
And the Avalanche take the lead three to two, seven
fifty nine to play.
Speaker 7 (13:03):
With the second period in kivvy Ronto would just be
getting warmed up.
Speaker 6 (13:07):
That made it again a four to two game.
Speaker 7 (13:10):
Beg you pardon three two to twelve oh one of
the second period, Miko Ranton and Kale mccarr as well
with the assists. And then in the third period it
was a matter of close but not close enough here
for the Crack and Jayden Schwartz stopped in a breakaway
Coppocaco winning a battle at the net, nearly flipping a
loose puck right past Mackenzie Blackwood to tie it. But
then kivvy Ronta getting his second of the game to
(13:32):
make it for two at seventeen twenty six a period three,
his ninth on an empty netter, and then wrapping things
up with a natural hat trick on the second empty
netter at eighteen twenty a Parker Kelly and Klee mccarr
with the assist on the play, and with that Kivy
Ronta getting his first regular season hat trick after his
first coming in Game seven of the second round in
(13:54):
twenty twenty, and also getting the Avalanche's second natural hat
trick of the season to the score at eighteen twenty
at a period three, and that wrapping up as the
final here this evening shots on net in favor of
the Avalanche twenty nine to nineteen, the win in net
going to Mackenzie Blackwood with a seventeen save effort as
record improving out of nine to ten, and three lots
(14:17):
of net going to Joey Decord twenty four saves on
the evening two goals also courtesy emptyntres supposed to acount
against him is record though yet falling to twelve nine
and two on the season. Time now for the Cors

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Ivan gets back up, a little shaking up, but he's
gonna stand it.
Speaker 7 (15:05):
Play And with that the Kraken showing that they were
up the task as far as the physicality and the
hit category as well. This evening, Yeah hit Colorado twenty
nine to fourteen, and that indicative of what they were
gonna be bringing. Coppocaco, by the way, leed the crack
in five hits on the night. Yanni Gordon also with four.
Ellie Tolbnan additionally with four. Late in the second period,
(15:27):
it was Joey to Cord face to face with Cale mccarr.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Put all the brakes in the blue line.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
Now the ass get it, here's a breakaway the car
and b e same, Joey's a card with the club.
Speaker 13 (15:40):
He goes down and robs kalemcr so keep this a
one gold deficit.
Speaker 7 (15:46):
And Joey to Cord for that second period eight saves
and maybe none bigger they had in that second period
than that big stop on Cale McCarter to keep the
Kraken in the conversation, but the Colorado eventually pulling away
with the two empty nutters in period three for the
five to two final time. Now for a look around

Speaker 19 (20:50):
Ered tight games, I've had some good champions especialated third period.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
What was your thoughts tonight? I thought, I hope we
played pretty well obviously the first on two.
Speaker 12 (20:59):
Periods, but uh, when you give give 'em you know,
three power plays and for shared, it doesn't uh doesn't
help your cause. Right, They're they're deadly out there. So
you know, after that all lay were kind of chasing
the game a little bit and uh, but so we
had some good moments and I we gotta try to
build off.
Speaker 19 (21:14):
Up in terms of that that third period, you had
a great chance. Uh Cocko had one Evan hit the post.
I mean, do you guys feel like maybe that game's gonna.
Speaker 5 (21:25):
Turn to that point? Yeah? Yeah, we Uh, we had
some good chances. You know, we were playing well. We
were playing good defensively too.
Speaker 12 (21:30):
And then just kind of you know, one may stake
lat to another and hands up the back of the.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
Blackwood had another pretty decent game. Against you guys. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
he seems to seem to do that all.
Speaker 19 (21:41):
So tough question. But how do you guys come back
and regroup after the break?
Speaker 12 (21:47):
Yeah, I know it's gonna be tough. You know, we
need to uh just kind of forget about hockey for
a little bit here and come in with a clean,
clean slate. You know, we we obviously have a lot
of ground to make up here, and but uh, you
know we we believe it each other listener, So we're
not gonna rely on anybody else's.
Speaker 5 (22:03):
It's gonna come from.
Speaker 7 (22:05):
Its Sharon McCain with the media out of ball Arena
and the holiday break coming at a pretty good time here.
