Speaker 1 (00:00):
And the Kracking power playfast.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
This is the Kraking Postgame Show, brought to you by
Toyota of Olympia. Now for an in depth look and
your Krakeing hockey. It's the post game on the Emerald
Queen Casino Kraken Audio Network.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
We're back inside of Climate Pledge Arena alongside Al Kaneski.
I am Everett Fits and the Kraken closing out the
home portion of their pre holiday schedule with a three
nothing loss to the Ottawa Senators. They now have been
outscored five nothing this season and both games to ottawas
so now they have to wait till next year pick
(00:38):
up a victory over the Sins. After the Kracking won
two of the first three all time meetings, the Kraken
have now lost for the last five with the Ottawa Senators,
including three shutouts, two nothing last season in Ottawa, three
nothing earlier this year, and three nothing again here today.
So if you're Seattle, I me, I mean you need
(01:00):
to find a way to go back to the drawing board.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
A big road trip coming up.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
But I mean, simply put, just did not have the urgency,
the intensity. You look back to what went wrong against
the Tampa Bay Lightning two games or a game ago,
two days ago, and.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
The chances were there, they just couldn't finish.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
And I thought, here tonight, and everything came from the perimeter.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
You knew you had to get to the interior.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
This is a team that you had to work hard
to penetrate, and they could not find anything this evening.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
Well, I talked a lot about the shot quantity in
the pregame that I would take quantity over quality. Yeah,
and I guess I need to add to that a
little bit. I will take quantity over quality as long
as the quality or the quantity of the shots are coming,
when there's screens in front, when there's guys that are
close to getting rebounds, when a goalies can't see shots clearly,
(01:54):
Because if you're gonna shoot thirty shots on net with
the goaltender seat every time, you're gonna see thirty, says.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Joey the Core tonight, not able to turned aside twenty
three of the twenty six shots that he faced.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Uncharacteristic performance for him to season.
Speaker 5 (02:08):
Yeah, I thought so too. I think that all three goals,
he might say that he'd like to have a shot at.
Certainly the first two that were again going back to
perimeter perimeter shots by Ottawa that they were able to
squeak by him.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Coming up now with Chicago on Thursday, they're a team
that at the bottom of the standing, but I mean
they've been playing better as of late. And then you've
got the always dangerous Vegas Golden Knights and then the
Colorado Avalancho. I mean, the history between Seattle and Colorado
dates back to you.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Know, year two in this organization. But Chicago, they've.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Won three of their last five games. They've been finding
a way to score goals. And I think if through
the crack and you cannot overlook this black.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
Hawks team, no, I think you cannot. You can now
look forward to games beyond that and say, well, the
tough ones are coming later. Right now, the next game
is the tough game.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
All right, out over to you for some key takeaways
and our three stars tonight.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
Well, I'd written down Joey to court again, but I
won't beat that dead horse. Second, all of all, a
shot quality. There weren't enough of those high quality shots
from from the interior. And then the third one penalties.
This team had not taken more than eight penalty minutes
and seventeen straight games, and tonight that got broken they
took exactly excuse me, they'd taken fewer than eight penalties
(03:26):
for seventeen straight straight games, and tonight that got broken
they took exactly eight. So that was uncharacteristic for them.
Mam mkay, you're three stars. They are all Senators, so
here you go. Third star was Noi Gregor. He had
and assist. He was plus one. Second star was Shane Pinto,
he had that first goal for the Senators. He was
plus one. And your first star probably no surprise, Lina
(03:48):
soul Mark with the shutout stopping thirty of thirty.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
That'll do it up for us up here in the
fresh box.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
But before we go, I know we're played on the
concourse around and folks listening. Merry Christmas, Happy Holo to
people in the building, thank you so much for tuning
in and for all that you do to support us.
And also, Terry Ryan, our producer up here in the booth,
is gonna get some much needed time off for him
not doing Huskies football for the bowl game, so he's
(04:14):
gonna finally get some time at home with the misses
and Andrews. So happy holidays. To everyone here at home.
We got three more though, listen to on Thursday. But
first up, Mike Benton over to you, what's coming up
on the postgame show?
Speaker 6 (04:27):
All right, ever it al thank you very much after
the nice three nothing final, A lot to cover here,
so glad you're with us. Friends, will have our highlights,
our scores back downstairs for a lot of reaction and
then some look ahead here for the road trip. Plus
also Curtis Crabtree will be along with us here for
talking cracking, So Texas right now. Four nine four five one.
Your biggest takeaway here on this game again four nine
(04:48):
four five one on the Tullamore dude text line. Both
times this season and three of the last four meetings,
Crack and have been held to nothing against Ottawa, so
they gotta be glad they're done with the Ottawa. But
they got to get their game back on the tracks
quick here with a four game road swing.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
All coming up postgame rolls on. We're back in a
bit again.

At thirty two, they stay four points back of the
cut line in Ottawa, improving to sixteen thirteen and two.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
They have thirty four.
Speaker 6 (08:14):
Points alone in the final wildcard spot in the East.
So time now for the highlights in this Seattle crack
and drive to the next score and recap is brought
to you. But all new Chevy tracks now bigger and
boulder tracks is a perfect assist for all of life's adventures.
Early in period one, the Senators putting Joey to chord
right to the test and what's his answer right here?
Speaker 3 (08:36):
It's a tens in right circle and that work fought
off as well, clad true. The stutslaw and Frod Sanderson
on the door step are called rather on the doorstep,
and that one turned aside by the.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
Cord, big safe by the cord there he had to
read that redirected really quickly.
Speaker 6 (08:51):
He wasn't as tested as much as leaning a soul
mark in period one, still yet having to make quality
saves and that was one of them. As the chord
turned away seven of seven an in period one to
keep this at a nothing nothing game, and of the
second period approaching twelve minutes left the Kraken still fighting
for scoring chances.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
But what does Ottawa do on one of theirs?
Speaker 6 (09:12):
Now?
Speaker 3 (09:12):
The Kraken turned the puck over inside the blue line,
pinto near circle, walks in shot, scores Shane Pinto down
the near side from the circle, a harmless wrist shot
beats the cord and with eleven to fifty eight to
play in this second period, Ottawa strike's first day lead.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
One number man.
Speaker 6 (09:33):
That give Shane Pinto his third goal in three games,
picking up his fourth on the season, coming at eight
oh two. Michael Lamadio had the assist on the play.
Ottawa would then bump their lead to two nothing from
a similar spot, Noah Gregor beating Joey to Cord clean
from the right circle. Ridley greg zach Ostapchuk with the
helper on that play for Gregor's fourth of the season
(09:55):
in Ottawa going up to nothing in the Kraken getting
into danger territory, trailing by that same score at the
end of forty minutes of play in the third period,
little over four.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Minutes in headed Tim stutch Law find open.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Ice, blow Jeru ox it free Ottawa up the ice.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Stuts La on a breakaway down the slot, shot tipped
off the glove up to Cord and they.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Score off Joey to Court made the initial save. The
fuck just.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Rolled up in the air over his glove. So the
tough night got even tougher.
Speaker 6 (10:25):
Tim Stutchla picking up his eleventh goal of the season,
breaking out of a seven game goal scoring drought at
coming at four to eighteen of period three. Adam Goaddett
and Claude Jeru as well with the helper as stutch
Lay got right behind the Crack and defense for a
breakaway goal to make it three nothing. Ottawa the crack
and pulling Joey to Cord extra early in period three,
(10:47):
but unable to break linas Olmark who picks up the
shutout thirty saves on the night. Three nothing is your
final score as all Mark now running is win streak
to six consecutive games, matching Ottawa's sixth longest stretch in
franchise history. Your final shots on net, the Kraken had thirty,
Ottawa had twenty six, neither team converting in.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
The power play.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
Krack and had four chances coming up empty in Ottawa
going zero for three on the night, and as we said,
Almar picking up the shutout victory thirty saves on the

Speaker 6 (12:18):
Oh, the water's parting right there for Joey to court
to Ty Cartier and the goaltender with the long bomb
feed tape to tape, which would have brought this entire
building out of their sease. P Carcier denied by Lean
and soul Mark, and that kept it nothing nothing at
that point. Later on in the second period, cracking down one,
nothing in the Ottawa coming right back with Gregor. Then
(12:39):
what happens here from a similar spot to Ottawa's first goal.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
Back through center three on three Dear's Gregor near circle shot.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Eddy scores a sweeping one timer. If you will from
the near circle. He caught the pass and beats.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
To Cord two nothing, Ottawa seven fifteen to play at
the second.
Speaker 6 (13:01):
The fining moment was put the crackt into too deep
of a hole at that point, as Gregor picked up
his second goal in the last four games, and you
could really kind of feel the energy dissipate here from
that point in the building. Unfortunately, the crack and unable
to recover it at all from that point on. And
as Noah Gregor made it nothing at twelve forty five
to put Ottawa in command, eventually winning it here three
(13:23):
to nothing, and again Leana Soulmart picking up to shut
out his eleventh of his NHL career and Ottawa's sweeping
the regular season series to Nook. Now time now for

Ottawa takes the rek of the season series sweep three
nothing over the Crack in here this evening and the
homestand ending with one win in four games, the Cracking
officially one two and one in na stretch. Well, Brandon
Montor logging the most if time out of anyone on
the Crack and with a pair of block shots.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Let's check in downstairs now as he meets with the media.
Speaker 22 (18:34):
All right, Brandon, it looked like you guys were getting
the shot volume you want in the first period. Do
you think you're getting enough guys to the net at
that point.
Speaker 23 (18:43):
No, I think that's kind of the story of Again,
I think we gotta look into ourselves in the mirror.
I don't know how many of you have been shut
out this year, but we've played less than thirty five games,
and we've been shut out six seven times. With the
skill we got on this team, obviously you know you're
gonna have games where it's not gonna go your.
Speaker 21 (18:59):
Way, but.
Speaker 23 (19:02):
It's too easy for these goalies. Again, we had some looks,
but again, shots no matter if Colie sees them all
the time. So obviously things we got to clean up.
Speaker 22 (19:13):
And what happened after that first period the day start
tightening things up because you didn't really.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Have a whole lot of shots.
Speaker 23 (19:19):
Yeah, I mean again, I think we just kind of
you get away with consistency, even preaching that spurts where
we like our game spurts that you know, we play slow,
we let them dictate the game. But getting consistency huge,
Consistency is huge, and then obviously when you get behind
the eight ball and you let two, you let three up,
it's tough to kind of get by and you had.
Speaker 22 (19:40):
You had a situation like this a few weeks back,
and then you went on the road and the team
really regained focus.
Speaker 24 (19:47):
I mean, is that something you're you're looking to do here.
Speaker 23 (19:50):
Or is that just yeah, I hope uh. I think
it's one thing. You know, these home games, these home stands,
you got to take advantage of it. And you know, obviously,
you know, you like your game a few you if
you back there, beat some good teams, get some games
like this, get away from us. And now we got
a couple of tough road games that we have to
kind of fix things up and get back to you know.
(20:12):
Over five hundred.
Speaker 6 (20:15):
That's Brandon montor meeting with the media. So going back
to the first answer, pretty blunt with his reaction, and
for the fifth time the season, the crack and kept
off the board by the finish line here tonight in

hour or so, or wherever you're headed off to Additionally,
you're hanging out here with us, Mike Benton with you
once again. Happy holidays to those who joined us inside
the building here for this seeding, this of course being
the last Crack and home game before the holiday break,
(33:18):
so looking forward to having you back out here once
again once the Crack can get right back to play.
First game back out of the holiday break is that
last Monday of the calendar year against Utah Hockey Club.
But the attention right back here to tonight. The Kraken
unable to generate much, if at all, anything against Ottawa
and they fall through nothing here to the Senators on
(33:40):
goals to Shane Pinto, Noah Gregor and Tim Stutzla as
well and Enjoey Decord early on facing seven saves on
seven shots with then see more of the volume and
of high grade kicked toward his way in period two
and unfortunately for the Crack in that second period, just
too much here to overcome. And Leana soul Mark and
the two much once again here for the Kraken to overcome.
(34:03):
This evening, he plus Outawa goaltending have combined to shut
out the Krack and now three times in the last
four games this evening, it was Zulmark who looked as
dialed in as he did last week gone route to
third Star honors, and he picked up a thirty save
effort for his eleventh shutout of his NHL career, looking
every bit the part that Ottawa hoped that they would
(34:25):
get when they swung that trade with Boston right back
in the offseason. So this is your reaction, this is
your place, this is your show, and this is talking crack.
And so I want to invite you to Texas right
now four nine four, five to one. What was the
biggest issue for you this evening? The krack and need
to fix on this next road trip coming up when
they take on Chicago, Vegas, Colorado and then the Vancouver
(34:49):
Canucks as well. Textas at four nine four or five
to one. I got something near to sweeten the pot,
and once again it will involve food. Pretty tasty version
as well, pretty iconic aditionally kJ rfham line open two
O six two eighty six nine and that's two oh
six two eight six.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
Nine, five nine to five.
Speaker 6 (35:09):
And again wan to remind you, Telmore Doo is the
original triple blended smooth sipping Irish whiskey made for the
great moments in the game. When it's game time, it's
totally time, right on time.
Speaker 4 (35:20):
As well.
Speaker 6 (35:21):
Is Curtis Cramtree joining us here from Fox thirteen as
he just emerged here from the crack and dressing room,
and plenty of reaction here as well, Curtis, I want
to get here to the first period. It looked pretty
balanced here for the krack and both goalies got tested,
but both had solid saste.
Speaker 4 (35:36):
But yet you could feel maybe despite.
Speaker 6 (35:38):
The krack and winning the shot battle, where was the
offense coming and it was way too much from the
outside And that would be symbolism here for this evening.
Speaker 24 (35:48):
Yeah, they're the most dangerous shots in the period, despite
it being what fifteen seven against at the end of
the period were was by Ottawa. They had the most
dangerous shots in that frame despite the volume that Seattle
had in the period, and they just weren't able to
When you saw Lina Salmark make that glove save on
Ellie tolbyin and on the power play, he had a
couple of those glove saves that were pretty impressive early on,
(36:10):
It's like, Okay, they're gonna need to do something special
to beat him tonight. Because he looked pretty dialed in.
He's on a great run for them. He just played
two back to back games for Ottawa because they had
Anton Forrestburgh go down and warm up the other night.
He had to play it on back to back. Played
terrific in that game too. He's just really playing well
in netting Vesna winner two years ago and put Boston.
He's playing to that level again now with the Senators,
(36:31):
and they needed to make things a little more uncomfortable
for him than they did in the first period. I mean,
they had their shots, but they weren't super dangerous. I
don't even know if any of them were technically classified
as high danger chances in the first period. And then
after that, the last forty minutes it was all, you know,
tilted in Ottawa's direction, with them getting the unfortunate goal
on Joey to Cord that was one I'm sure he
(36:52):
would like to have back. And then you're playing from behind,
and when you have a goal tuner on the other end,
you don't can't really find a way to beat It's
gonna make it tough to try to find a way
to come back. So they were playing uphill the rest
of the way, I.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
Mean the second period it felt very very sleepy.
Speaker 6 (37:05):
I mean, Lina Soulmark got clean looks once again, and
you could tell he was stopping everything that he was
seeing in the crack and had to get more traffic
in front of him, and it didn't come. And you
reference this, I was tracking it. They had no high
danger chances at all period five on five until late
in that second period. So the one nothing goal you mentioned,
that's a harmless shot in the right wing, and that's
(37:27):
that's one that the Cords got to have. And then
the two to nothing goal another one that the Chords
gotta have, same spot, same result, clean look and it
got past him.
Speaker 24 (37:35):
Yeah, that one at least came off of a cross
ice pass to you know, to where you needed to
move to get in front of it. As well, He's
definitely gonna want the one that goes back through as
through the five hole on and from Sean Pinto. That's
when he's definitely gonna want to have back. But you know,
Joey has been so good for them through the first
couple months of this season. You're allowed one of those
every now and again. I mean, they didn't score, they
(37:56):
weren't beating anybody. They didn't score, so that's continues to
be a bugaboo for them in general. I thought some
of their forwards had pretty weak efforts tonight and they
weren't able to keep up with with onaway. And now
they're kind of back to where they were in that
road trip where they were needing to dig themselves out
of a hole to try to keep in this thing
as we get to the twenty twenty five year and
(38:20):
they're gonna have to fight uphill again, just like they
did in the game tonight.
Speaker 6 (38:23):
Brandon Montour had six shots on net in this game,
leading everybody. He's a guy who can generate offense from
the back end. Jared McCann had five shots on net
plus five as well that miss and that the puck
was coming off his stick a ton. Matty Baniers had
no shots on net here for this game. Andre Berakowsky
had one shot on net here for this game. I mean,
(38:46):
where are we at right now at the stage of
the season where you got to have certain players playing
at their best to put this team in position here
to win games?
Speaker 24 (38:53):
Yeah, I mean them not Look, I generally think I
like the games that Mighty Ben years and Andre Berrukofski
been playing late in their totality, but you need those
guys to score, and they're just not and they're they're
missing Yanni Gord. They're definitely missing Jordan Beverley, who we
saw downstairs after the game tonight. He was in the
building as he works back from his surgery and everything.
(39:15):
And the offense has kind of, you know, been super
inconsistent without those guys in the lineup. So I'm curious
to see what happens when Yanny Gord gets back in
the lineup. I'm assuming probably on the next game on
the road trips, since he's been back skating here the
last day or so. But they they just need to
get more from a couple of their you know, more
highly priced players on the roster offensively to kind of
(39:37):
you know, balance things out. And Jared m cann is,
you know, he's he's snake bitten right now too. The
only goal he scored in recent memory was the empty
ntter against Boston, So they they need to get more
out of their Ford group. I didn't like Chandler Stevenson's
game tonight. I thought it was pretty pretty hum hum drum,
not much to write about, and yeah, they they just
(39:57):
need to do more and more often, more consistently. And
when you you don't have that elite, high end scoring
piece on your team, you have to bring that collective
effort every night or you're gonna not be able to
score your way out of games like this where you
just can't find one.
Speaker 6 (40:10):
Now, we're looking at here the numbers as far as
metrics in this game, and I just take Matty Baniers
here for an example. He finished on the upper hand
actually tonight as far as shot attempts here for this game,
and then shot quality finished on the better end. But
they need more efforts like that out of a guy
like Matty Baniers. And you look at the shot quality
share at five on five. I saw this here before
(40:31):
the game. Austin Matthews, John Tavares, Nathan McKinnon, Leon dristidele
Connor McDavid, all north of fifty percent, some almost touching
sixty as well, but years before this game was at
forty eight percent. He's young, he's twenty two years of age.
Some centers, of course, been sure at a different rate
here than others here, but there is something right now
(40:52):
that's clearly affecting his game and the crack and are
hoping that at least tonight is at least a hint
where he can get things pushed right back in the
right direction.
Speaker 5 (41:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 24 (41:00):
Like I said, I generally like his two way game.
I think he's stronger this year. He's not getting pushed
off the puck as much. He's better with the puck
control when the puck is on his stick. There's a
lot of things about Matty Beniers' game that has bounced
back this season from last year, but the scoring still
hasn't bounced back yet to what you saw two years
ago when they made the playoffs, and they need that
for sure from their top overall pick ever so to
(41:22):
eventually become that guy.
Speaker 6 (41:24):
How much do you figure with the Jared McCann scoring
draft right now? Part of that has to do with
Jordan Eberley.
Speaker 24 (41:31):
It's definitely a part of it, for sure, And I
mean I think part of it's probably playing with Chandler
Stevenson too. I don't know that that's clicked a ton
through the time that they've been paired up together and
trying to find the right circumstance to get Jared to
flourish again. It's tough to because We know he can
score and when he's in that left side ability to
rip it with his wrist shot that he has, it's
(41:52):
so good. That's kind of where you like to have
him be. But I think he's worried about the other
parts of what's going on with his offensive unit when
they're on the ice a little bit more than focusing
just on looking for his scoring chances that he has
been comfortable getting in the past to where it's just
not been there. So I don't doubt anything from Jared
McCann's ability. I think there might have been a moment
(42:13):
where he might have been lacking a little confidence recently,
but I don't think he should. I think he's got everything.
He's got everything he needs to be that score. He
just needs to, you know, maybe that lack of having
Jordan there with him is a bigger deal than we
might have thought.
Speaker 6 (42:26):
All right, So fending here for the night as the
crack and fall through nothing to the Gyatawa Senators as
they are looking to get their game back on the
tracks again Thursday to open the road trip against the
Chicago Blackhawks. Check it in down stairs once again, and
here's Jared mccannon.
Speaker 22 (42:38):
Shots in the opening period, it didn't look like you
were getting really in front of line of allmark.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
Enough to really really distracting. What were you seeing out there?
Speaker 5 (42:46):
Yeah, yeah, we didn't.
Speaker 17 (42:47):
We didn't get in his eyes. I know something I
kind of said we should do it before the game.
But you know, I think we're kind of just like
a one and done team right now. You know, we're
trying to trying to just score off the rush and
and you know, I make that backdoor play or whatever.
But you know, when things aren't going well, you got
to get to the front of the night and dang
went home.
Speaker 22 (43:06):
How do you change that dynamic? I mean you were
able to change it on the last road trip. What
do you think it is too.
Speaker 17 (43:12):
I think it's on mirandset, Like we we know we
can do it. We beat some good teams in this league,
and just a matter of you know, getting the leadership
group together here and then I'm trying to try to
come on the top of my son, Jared.
Speaker 6 (43:23):
What did you feel like change in the second period
where they sort of took control of things.
Speaker 17 (43:27):
I think we sat back, you know, like you said,
he we're just a one and done team tonight. You know,
you shot from the point they got the rebound and
made an easy exit.
Speaker 6 (43:35):
So all right, that's Jared McKinnon with his brief reaction
downstairs as the crack and again fall three and nothing
to the Yatawa Senators want to again invite you to
Texas right now. Your biggest issue facing this cracking team
that they got to clean up heading into the road
trip Texas right now at four nine four or five
to one, Curtis, Jared mentioned a lot of one and done's,
and again that is befitting of a team that is
(43:58):
just trying to get back to it's game, and that
they've been preaching as well, looking for more second chances
and looking for more to play at the front of
the net where this evening it was too few and
far between.
Speaker 24 (44:07):
Yeah, I mean, like I was kind of mentioning earlier,
when you don't have that like elite scorer on your team,
like you have to do it some other ways. And
when Omark was as sharp as he was tonight, you
weren't gonna just beat him on a clean looking shot,
and they they didn't, so they they needed to do
more to take his eyes away, find a way to
have something bounce awkwardly through, you know, and those things
(44:29):
just didn't happen for him tonight.
Speaker 6 (44:31):
Let's check the Tellmar Dude tex line right now at
four nine four five at one. And I also want
to invite you to Texas here because we're going to
sweeten the pot. So now that the game is over,
it's time for a Dix run. So what's your go
to when you make a Dix run? Is a two
cheese burgers and some fries. Maybe you're a deluxe and
shake kind of person, how about a special burger and
a Sunday I'm hungry already and it's pushing well well
(44:54):
past ten o'clock. Well, for seventy years, Dix Driving still
serves up the best food at the best price in
the shortest times. Up in to one of the nine
Puget Sound area Dick's drive in locations today for one
lucky listener who text us, we're awarding a Dix T
shirt plus twenty dollars in Dick's gift cards. If you
text us at four nine four five one and tell
(45:14):
us your biggest takeaway here from this seeding again text
us at four nine four five one, you'll be entered
to win the Dicks T shirt and twenty dollars in
Dick's gift cards and the five to ZHO three is
saying need to work on the basics. Fire the puck
at the net, have someone there for rebounds, improved passing,
for a smooth transition in the neutral zone heading north
(45:36):
to the offensive zone. We just need more solid playmakers
and momentum building players, especially when Yonnie Gord is out
backyard of the Manny Baneers thing. How much do you
look at change may be when they can get Gord
healthy and back on that line.
Speaker 24 (45:50):
Yeah, I think you have to look there. I wonder
if they look to shake up mccamm's line to try
to get him going in with somebody else. It's it's
tough to find the exact fit because of where they
are with their roster at the moment. But I would
definitely expect Gord to go back to the wing of
what Ben here is when he's back in the lineup,
because one, I think Mitchell Stevens has been really good
as a fourth line center on this team since he's
(46:12):
jumped into I think.
Speaker 4 (46:13):
It's gonna be a while until he goes back to Cochell.
Speaker 24 (46:15):
Yeah, I don't know if he will yeah, I mean
like with the way he's playing on that role, he's
playing penalty kill minutes for him, I think doing pretty
well in.
Speaker 4 (46:21):
That role as well.
Speaker 24 (46:23):
It'll it's it does lengthen their lineup a little bit,
giving them the option of having Gord on the wings.
So I don't think that that's going anywhere anytime soon.
Speaker 6 (46:31):
And we'll see if Mitchell Stevens gets some of the
most coveted words that any player can get when they're
called up. Hey guy, go find an apartment here for
the five oh three, we know this team is more hustle,
and then then we saw tonight it's lack of consistency
across games that's worrying. Also one from the five to
ZHO three. Frustrating here with a team that's got skilled
(46:51):
just with the mistakes they made delaying shots on net
until Olmark and the defense got prepared and just looked
out pace here for this evening. But also props here
to Brandon Montour a great job, but need more players
working hard and working smart as well.
Speaker 24 (47:05):
Son to watch, I.
Speaker 6 (47:06):
Found it funny even even when when when when this
game was already three to nothing and they had pulled
Joey to Cord.
Speaker 4 (47:13):
You've got Montor laying down.
Speaker 6 (47:15):
At the front of the crease to block a shot
with his chest, then goes right back and almost sets
up Shade right for the first goal of the game.
Speaker 5 (47:22):
Yeah, he is.
Speaker 24 (47:23):
He is a really, really good player. Be very happy
that he is on this team for the next seven
years because he is. He is a blast to watch.
Speaker 6 (47:31):
Looking like worth every penny right now for the four
to two five from Jeff saying solid start to this one.

seven hundred and fifty dollars to date. We'll keep you
updated here throughout the seasons. To Hearts Cracking No Fall
three to nothing this evening to Ottawa Mike Betton, Curtis
(51:04):
Crabtree with you here for talking cracking back and climbing
pledge arena before we get to Dan Bilesma more reaction
via the totalmore Dude text line and for the four
to two five saying the only time the crack And
have scored on Ottawa last two years was in January
last season. The five to one loss to Tampa Bay
was difficult, but like back to back losses from the
Sharks as well, this game was tough.
Speaker 4 (51:26):
Hopefully they can get it together here on the road.
Speaker 6 (51:29):
Do you look at scratching Matty Beneers to give him
the bump that worked on Shane Wright and Oliver the
York strand that from the four two five Curtis all
sets you up here. You have to use that scratch
button with an element of caution because not every player
reacts to that exactly the same.
Speaker 24 (51:46):
No, they don't. And the thing is, Maddy's just not scoring.
Like I said, I think I like the other parts
of his game well enough. It's not like he's lacking
effort or doing the wrong thing all that often. It's
just he's not getting the scoring on production that you
would like to see him have. So I don't know
that that necessarily does anything for me. Because then you
(52:07):
get I mean, you would put Gord back at center
there and then you would go with basically the same
winger construction you have now. I don't know that you're
getting anything out of that across the lineup in general
as it is, so I don't think it does anything
for me. I can understand the thought process, but it's
not just you know, push button get improved performance sort
(52:27):
of correlation with the decision to scratch somebody. I think
you have to do it for a specific reason, and
I don't know if just not getting some scoring production is.
Speaker 4 (52:34):
Enough to do it.
Speaker 6 (52:35):
And we've already heard from Dan Bilesman about the effort
that he is certainly putting in here. So you have
to find alternative measures here to try to generate something
as far as offense out of your top guys. Right,
let's check back in downstairs as e co. Dan Bilsman
right now is meeting with the media, and.
Speaker 21 (52:50):
You have a lot of the early shots you were
looking for.
Speaker 22 (52:52):
It didn't look like you're getting a lot of players
in front of the goalie's vision.
Speaker 21 (52:55):
I mean, how much she like that intatic what we
saw early on and then what happened from there. I
you know, I think it had a huge impact. I
would say just because we we did have some good looks.
Speaker 11 (53:10):
We did.
Speaker 30 (53:11):
We were I think it was fifteen shots in the
first period. We threw bucks there, We had the you know,
a shot on our mind, and you think he saw that.
But I think all Mark Saul, you know, all of them.
He's a big goalie, he's playing well. I think he
(53:32):
probably had to come a little more dirty than than
we we gave him.
Speaker 22 (53:36):
And when they score after all those shots, when they
when they scored the first goal, I mean, how much
do you think that just changes a little bit of
your team's approached I don't know, maybe psychologically at that.
Speaker 3 (53:46):
Point, or.
Speaker 30 (53:48):
I think the you know, the game, I thought we
dictated a lot in the first period, and I thought
the game, you know, in the second period changed a
little bit in terms of, you know, they're they're they're
good team right now, they've won four, are gonna last five,
(54:08):
and they're good teams because they're a hardfore checking team.
They're a heavy team in the offensive zone. And even
in the first period, I thought, you know, we did
a we did a good job against that. But in
the second period, it was just a little too much,
you know, them dictating the pace and where the game
(54:29):
was played.
Speaker 21 (54:29):
And yeah, I think the you know, the goal, you know,
the goal going in kind of just added to the.
Speaker 30 (54:40):
Frustration of not having looks, not getting shots in Omart coming.
Speaker 21 (54:44):
Up big, you know, repeatedly in the first period. The
goal going in kind of exacerbated that.
Speaker 17 (54:54):
Dan, what did you think of your team's response and
pushback as arwas started.
Speaker 21 (54:59):
To take control in the second period.
Speaker 1 (55:03):
Well, not.
Speaker 30 (55:07):
Not not good enough, I'll say, you know, I think, yeah,
you gotta respect the opposition and you gotta respect what
they're bringing. But you know, it's it's your job too.
It's our job to dictate, you know, the game and
how it's played. And you know they they can't they're
allowed to have some success in the game, but you
(55:27):
have to you have to answer, you know, with with
your play. And I think in the second period it's
a little too much frustration and not getting results in
the first and then getting down by one, you know,
set in a little bit, I thought, And I thought
the third period was was better in that regard, but
(55:48):
it's you know, gotta kill penalty, gotta kill four on three, uh,
and now you're at a point in the game where
it's six seven minutes left and and the push has
got to come, and uh, you know, just I say,
too little, too late, but it's uh it it just wasn't.
Speaker 7 (56:08):
Enough, Dane.
Speaker 24 (56:09):
You guys got playing pretty well there through the Boston game.
What do you look at at these last two games overall?
Do you think there's a step back you've taken collectively?
How do you kind of process the last two and
how you guys have kind of been here?
Speaker 30 (56:23):
Yeah, I think you just gotta take a look at
the scenario of the setting and and where we're at
in the season, and I think the that desperation has
got to creep into our game on a nightly basis,
and when it's not, it's evident. And you know, the
the Tampa Bay game, I don't think it was at
(56:44):
the level. I don't think anyone thinks it was at
the level that we need to be at to to.
Speaker 21 (56:49):
Have success and play good night and night out.
Speaker 30 (56:52):
And you know, I think, you know, I I I
think the way we stepped out in the first period
was was you know, it was great. You know, you know,
you gotta again, you got to give respect to the opposition,
and what they're good at and what they do. But
you know the way we played the first period, Yep,
(57:12):
we'd like tomorrow traffic on Almark.
Speaker 21 (57:14):
We'd like to get more. You know, there's probably a.
Speaker 30 (57:18):
Few more opportunities we could take to shoot the puck
on them, but you know that's the mindset.
Speaker 21 (57:24):
We need to play it every night to have success.
Speaker 6 (57:30):
All right, that's cracking head coach Dan Biosma and his
reactions so ever since the Boston win, Curtis the crack
and trying to shake off a run of being outscored
eight to one. So when we talked desperation, as he said,
we've heard you know things tonight like not good to
even looking at themselves in the mirror. And this is
the kind of stuff that is a stiff smelling salt
to a team that can really use it, really use
(57:51):
it in the form of offense chances at the net
wins and use them quick.
Speaker 24 (57:55):
Look, you're below five hundred, you are four points out
of the list, playoff spot right now. You're facing a
couple good teams on this upcoming road trip in Colorado
and Vegas who are ahead of you and the standings.
Those go the wrong way much like the last road trip.
When you were getting ready to head. In that last
road trip, you could find yourself staring up very at
a very long list of teams in front of you
(58:18):
between you and a possible playoff spot. As it is
right now, there's already three teams between you and the
final playoff spot. And I get that it's not even
you know, the end of the calendar year yet for
twenty twenty four, but it can get late late, early,
and we're starting to get to that point where you're
threading that line a little bit and if you can't
get things going a little bit more consistently, here you
(58:39):
getting to a point where as we said, they're below
NHL five hundred right now, you're getting to a point
where you're looking at having to play well above six
hundred hockey the rest of the season to get to
a point where you're in the playoff conversation. And given
what we've seen of them through thirty three games right now,
I don't know that they've got that in their bag.
So that's the concerned that.
Speaker 6 (59:00):
You have before we go A points on the table,
where's the bar set? Six points? Seven points are all
a points?
Speaker 15 (59:07):
You?
Speaker 24 (59:07):
I mean bare minimum, you have to split these these
four games with the four games heading in the.
Speaker 4 (59:12):
Breaker, three three heading into the break, and then then
one after.
Speaker 24 (59:15):
And then the Vancouver went to open after you. I mean,
you have to at least get two of those four
games to to and probably the ones against your division rivals,
like probably Colorado because they're ahead of you in the standings,
and probably Vancouver. Those are the two if you have to,
if you can pick the couple, like, you need to
get those games to make up some ground. Obviously you
can't kick the Chicago gun necessarily either, but it's it's
(59:36):
starting to be go time for them, like you, Like
I said, you know you're not getting Jordan every back
until February, maybe March. You know, like at some point
in time, this is a team that's gonna have to
do it to get to keep in the race long
enough to be in it. And like I said, you're
getting to the point where you need to start putting
that foot down a little bit and getting some wins
stacked together to to keep up.
Speaker 6 (59:57):
