Speaker 1 (00:00):
This real has flown off Seattle.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Welcome to Seattle, Kraken Hockey. I'm the Global Credit Union
Krakenn Audio Network. Brought to you by Coor's Life, Your
Western Washington, Toyota Dealers, Virginia Mason, Franciscan Health, Muckleshoot Casino Resort,
and by Luna and Semetra.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
It was a Miles Stone night for the Kraken yesterday
in Coltown at Seattle pushed their points streak to eight
games following a third period explosion, Captain Jordan Everley skating
in his one thousand, one hundred NHL game, while Jacob
Molonsen netting his first goal in the National Hockey League,
and for good measure, Shane Wright scored his.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Seventh goal of the season on his twenty second birthday.
Philip Grubauer stopped forty.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
One of forty two as the Kraken us a four
goal third period to get to a five to one
win over the Flames. Tonight, Seattle wraps up there four
straight back to back against the Boston Bruins in the
first of two meetings over the next nine days.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Between these two sides.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, Welcome inside of Climate Plagarina
alongside big al Kiniski.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
I am ever it fits you.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
This is Seattle krag and Hockey on the Global Credit
Union Cracking Audio network is the pregame show served up
by Frostbrew course like Choose Chill.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
While the Kraken had.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
A streak of eight consecutive games scoring, the first goal
snapped probably wasn't the cleanest of first periods.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
But it's not how you start, it's how you finished.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Four goals in the third period, lifting Seattle to a
five to one win.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Yeah, Calgary hook shooting Seattle in that first period thirteen
to eight. Philip Krubaer having to come up with some
big saves, including a penalty shot on Jonathan Huberdo.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
And that's what you look for when your team SAgs.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
A little bit.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
The start of the game is your fulltender to keep
you in it. You did exactly that last night.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Once again, the fourth line continuing to dazzle for Seattle.
It was the first goal of his NHL career for
Jacob Milanson. Also Ryan Winterton, pushing his point streak to a.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Four game games. But not only that line, but if
big Caton had.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Some good offensive chances, as well. It's really been nice
to see the kids, these young players over the last
two weeks really starting to come into their own for Seattle.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Yeah, it seems like every game we're talking about Berkeley
Cat getting closer and closer, and other than maybe hitting posts,
I don't know how much closer he can get because
he's getting great a opportunities.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
And that that fourth line shine.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
It's bright right now.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
As you said, Winterton with up points of the over
the last four games. Malonson, he's got points in four straight. Myers,
he's got points in two straight. And when I liked
about the Malanston goal, it was Winterton setting him up.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
And it was the last game.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
That Milanson said wintered it up in a very similar play.
Those guys are really feeling the chemistry.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
And I even loved hearing Jacob Milanson after the game
last night telling Piper Shaw and the Klack and Hockey
Network it was even more special because Wentz set him up.
Because the Coachella kids are coming to play here at Seattle,
across the red line, the Boston Brilin's that points in
three straight to one in their last three and talking
to Lane Lambert this morning, he was telling me that

(03:04):
this is a very similar team to an LA Kings.
They're not gonna get a whole lot. They're not goning
to give you a whole lot either, but special teams
could be the deciding factor in this game. The Bruins
have scored a power play goal eight of their last
ten games. When they don't allow a power play goal,
they are fifteen to four in oher. But when their

(03:24):
PK isn't perfect seven fourteen and two.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
Yeah. Historically, these games tend to be high event three
three to one.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
And zhero overall for the Cracking against the Bruins, but
goals are games decided by at least three goals. We'll
see if that continues here tonight. The Bruins, coming off
of a three to two overtime win up to Vancouver
three days ago, which sounds like an.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Eternity they've been sitting here waiting the Crack is gonna
get an opportunity to wrap up a back to back
with a win.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Two oh and two this season. In game twos of
back to backs, they were oh fifteen to oh prior
to this current stretch.

the Corse Light Landing in section twenty for the Kraken
coming in and this heat reporting them one point back
of first place in the Pacific Division.

Speaker 5 (07:25):
Can you believe it?

Speaker 9 (07:26):
Their record nineteen fourteen and seven forty five points on
the campaign, this being game one of two in the
homestand and they are riding a streak of seven zero
to one in their last eight games. They face the
Boston team right now twenty two eighteen and two point total,
right now at forty six tony three points back of

(07:47):
the cut line in the Western Conference. The Kraken four
to three and one, had to head lifetime against the Bruins,
and this is the first of two matchups. They'll get
to know each other here quite a bit. Next time
out will be coming up a week from Thursday at
TD Garden Well. Last night, the Kraken had one mission
foot to gas in period three on a milestone night

(08:09):
with Ruman left wing Myers into.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
The zone, passing front to right.

Speaker 10 (08:12):
He's gonears eighteen oh three left in period three birthday
boy on the spot, Shane right driving the front of
the that picks up his seven gold this season, and
the Kraken have taken the lead for the first time
this evening at two to one.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
Well, it's Ben Myers done that left side. He's got
a full head of steam. You can hear his linemates going, go,
go go, and he flies down that left side. He
puts a saucer pass cross legs for Shane Right to
put up over the blockers side on Dustin Wolf.

Speaker 9 (08:45):
Two to one Kraken, and that was a catalyst that
a four goal third period with a Krack and knocked
off the Flames five to one. Milestones galore across the board.
We mentioned Shane Right a game winning goal in his
twenty second birthday, Jacob Alanson getting his first career NHL goal,
Jordan Everley in game eleven hundred of his NHL career,
plus two rating, one block shot, Adam Larson point two

(09:08):
point fifty of his career, and Philip Grubauer having a
remarkable season picking up a season high forty one saves
in the win where the Kraken overcame a slug as
start grew. Bauer also stopping a penalty shot on Jonathan
Huberto and the Kraken in that third period. Their four
goals that tied for the franchise most in the third
period of one game, and now the seven to zero

(09:30):
to one record they owned last eight games is the
second best in the NHL since December twentieth. Afterward, not
hard to guess the kind of reaction Jacob Malonson would
have the scoring his first career NHL goal.

Speaker 11 (09:43):
That's only a dream of as a kid. I mean,
like I said before, playing the NHL game is cool,
but getting our first goal is unreal. And it's cool
that a game from wins, so it means a lot.

Speaker 9 (09:53):
So for the Kraken and Jacob Malonson. They left Calgary
their emotions dialed up sky high, and now it requires
a quick turn of the page asking can they dial
it back up once again against the Boston Bruins. This
game is the seventh ending of back to back situations
and it shows the crack and maybe in the recent
going they're getting the hang of this. They are two

(10:14):
to two in two this year in the second game
of back to backs, but last four outings to zero
and two, allowing just one point seven goals per game.
As well, when you think about the previous fifteen games,
all fifteen losses, they gave up three point nine goals
per game, so they are certainly tightening the screws defensively
when they have to in these tough matchups, but yet

(10:36):
facing Boston it could be another tough matchup out of
the Eastern Conference. The cracking three to five and six
against the East this year, but against the Bruins they
own a three to one record over the last four outings.
So the Kraken could really use two points here for
the seating because up next it gets a little bit
tougher as well. They're back home here but facing a
ret hot Minnesota team with Quinn Hughes on Thursday, and

(10:57):
then on the road against Carolina on Saturday, which opens
up a five game road trip Hurricanes first, then the Rangers,
New Jersey, Boston and Utah as well. With a crack
and right now having to navigate one change in their lineup.
Ellie Tolvenin is out this evening due to illness. It's
his first game that he'll miss all season, which means
Ty Cartier is back in after sitting in the last

(11:19):
four games. Ryan Winterton also as a result, moving up
to Ellie Tolvenan's spot in the lineup and he'll play.
It looks like with Chandler Stevenson and Freddy Goodreau, our
cracking story lines. First up again with the fourth line,
Wrecking Crew Winterton previously a part of that moving elsewhere
this evening, but Tykart back now with Ben Myers and
Jacob Alanson, and that line on the score sheet each

(11:42):
of the last four games, Millonson in particular owning a
four game point streak. Second storyline Joey to coord Innett
North andover origins he faces the Bruins. Last four appearances
for him, he's been sharp at three zero and one,
and he owns a nine to five seven say percentage
in two appearances of his career against Boston. Finally, it

(12:03):
is Vince Dunn's impact last night's goal for him in
period three, moving him to within one goal of becoming
the eight player to score fifty goals with the Kraken.
And he loves home ice. He is one of three
players in the NHL who've got more than seventy five
percent of their offense at home. For players to get
twenty points or more here for this season done owning

(12:24):
sixteen points out of twenty one overall at home. The
only two of the heavier load at that it's William
Neilander of Toronto and Connor McMichael of the Washington Capital.
So we'll see again if home cooking helps out. Vin's
done and the Kraken here for tonight, let's hear more
from them. Here's Jacob Alanson with more on the fourth line,
who have been very supportive and seene support as well

(12:46):
in this entire team as far as their impact.

Speaker 11 (12:49):
The whole group here has been very, very supportive of
me and very welcoming on me. So, I mean, it's
so much easier going out there and laying my body
on the line for a team like this that supports
me in every way.

Speaker 5 (12:58):
So I can't thank them enough.

Speaker 11 (13:00):
We're just playing simple and getting puckst deep and we're
getting rewarded for that. So, I mean it's good.

Speaker 9 (13:04):
It means physicality, it means offense, and it means production.
And Shane Wright said, as far as the crack and
are concerned for the totality of this and the depth
on the crack inside, it is a growing factor right
now in this eight game run.

Speaker 12 (13:17):
Yeah, I mean, it's it's four lines, all sixty both goalies.
It's it's a total team effort. You know, it's not
one line. You know every single night that that's you know,
producing and scoring every goal, and yeah, I think everybody's contributing.
Everyone's pitching in their own way, and yeah, you know
when we're doing that, I think we're a real dangerous team.

Speaker 9 (13:34):
So the Crack and looking for a similar formula facing
Boston will take a look at them. Coming up after this,
you're listening to the Global Credit Union Crack at Audio Network.

they are fighting to stay in this race right now.
Just three wins over the last ten games, but yet
remain three points back of the cut line in the

(16:33):
Eastern Conference and matters are still very fluid as far
as this playoff mix. This five game road trip has
put Boston here to the test, certainly, but they're two
to one to one in that stretch, winning back to
back games and also coming into this game two days
of rest here in Seattle. They have two players that
have helped put them in the upper half of offense

(16:55):
in the league, twelfth in the NHL at three point
one goals the game, which means they have been top
David Pasternach forty six points leads the Bruins. Morgan Geeky
remember him, forty one points, he's second next closest. He
goes down to twenty six points here, tied with Pavel
Zaka and Elias Linholm in that respect. So right now,
Posternach and Geeky doing a heavy load. As far as

(17:17):
carrying this offense right now and keeping the game at
five on five, that's been an issue here for them.
The Bruins taking fourteen point two penalty minutes per game,
that's most in the NHL. They have taken one hundred
and eighty three minor penalties that is most also in
the NHL, which means the penalty kill and as we're
seeing the pretty big workload. Seventeenth overall in the league,

(17:38):
they are twentieth on the road, allowing thirteen power play
goals in the last twelve games. We'll see if the
Krack can take advantage of that. Bruin story lines first
up again with the return of Morgan Geeky, the former
kraken Ford as well last year hitting thirty three goals,
and this year's total said, well watch this, twenty five
goals in forty two games at right now tied for

(18:01):
third in the NHL. So he's enjoying a massive run. Yeah,
he comes in a bit cold right now, no goals
in six to raight games, a Crack and trying to
keep him at bay. Also, second storyline, keeping David pasterernach
at bay. Ten points in eight games against the Crack
and he owns all time. He's got five points as
well over the last two games as well. Let's hear

(18:23):
more from the Bruins, and they come in again, as
we said, with two days of rest and also feeling
a little bit more confident their power players three of
six last two games, coach Marco Sturham said it has
certainly validated how they felt recently.

Speaker 17 (18:36):
I think overall the game without the pocket it's been
it's been much better. Power Bay's back clicking again. I
think that that's a big difference. And I think also
to Goldie this way he gives us to that save
we need a certain time in the game. So I
think overall, and it's also a confident thing. You know

(18:58):
when things go so are not as tight. So there's
a culmination a little bit of things I just said,
and overall we feel pretty good.

Speaker 9 (19:07):
Jeremy swimming will be a net here for the Bruins
this evening. He'll be a part of Team USA at
the Winter Olympics, one of seven Bruins by the way
going to the Olympics. He is two to one in
three career games against the Krack and with a nine
to one to zero save percentage. Everett, Now have your

Point streak in team history.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
A little bit of a ways to go to get
to fourteen, and we saw a couple of years ago.
But hey, the boys are on their way, cracking a
five one win last night against the Calgary Flames, trying
to kick off a wrap but rather their fourth consecutive
back to back on a high note, keep the streak alive.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
What do they need to do out to get it
done well?

Speaker 4 (22:08):
I wrote the first one down last night after the
first period, A better start. The Kraken don't need a
slow burn tonight. They need a spark, a jolt and
maybe a few legal body checks in the first five
minutes of the period. In the top third of the
league and with thirty seven goals four in the first
period the season, Boston loves jumping on teams early, so
puck management, smart pressure, and skating like your uper's waiting

(22:28):
for you. It has to be a priority. Start on time,
tilt the ice early and make the Bruins chase instead
of posture. And then, secondly, trust the Kraken structure. When
Seattle plays connected hockey, five guys moving as one, multiple
layers in the neutral zone, and no freelance dezone adventures,
the game gets real uncomfortable for the opponent. Stick to

(22:49):
the system, win the walls, and let the structure do
the heavy lifting. It's not flashy, but it's effective and
it drives skill teams absolutely nuts. And then third dim
the ruined stars. Boston's big names don't need a spotlight.
They're already They already have one. I'm talking about guys
like Pasternad mackavoid even geeky, take away time and space,

(23:09):
finish checks, and make every shift feel like rush hour traffic.
Fourth their stars to work for oxygen, and suddenly those
highlight real guys start looking very human in some Start fast,
stay disciplined, and make Boston earn every.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
Inch of ice like it's taxed.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
Play the kracking way, choke off the middle, and turn
star power into frustration. If Seattle does those three things,
the Bruins won't be singing. They'll be grumbling and Clement
wwitch loud, proud, and very satisfied.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
Last four game twos of back to backs for Seattle
the Kraken are two to zero and two in those games,
And I think a lot of it has to do
with the system that Lane Lambert's put in play.

Speaker 5 (23:48):
I talked him.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
We talked to him earlier in the week, and he
said that is where the system should went out. When
you're in these back to back situations, you rely on
the defense. We saw Nashville a couple of games ago
in here. You could tell by the middle of the
first period, early in that second period their game, their
legs started to go.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
It's gonna be very important here.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
Tonight for the Kraken to push through and find that
second gear.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
Yeah, there's lots of ways that you find trust in
the system. It's not just about scoring goals at the
other end. It's when things get a little awry in
your own end. You've got to trust what that system.
You're gonna play that system. Eventually it will pay off.
And sometimes you've got to give up a goal to
go get too. That's okay, that's what how the system's designed.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
I also look for a big game tonight for Jacob
malonsiks for his first goal last night. Forty six hits
in just eleven games this season with the Kraken.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
His hits rank fifth on the team.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
However, forty six hits in eleven games, he's first.

Speaker 5 (24:40):
For my money, He's hitting.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Everything that moves.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
We talked a little bit about those young players in
the open, but they're gonna be very important here tonight
as well.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
Yeah, he's getting a hit about every two minutes, so
we'll call that every two ships.

Speaker 5 (24:51):
He's lay in the body.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
He's also taken twenty four hits in the games he's
played as well, so you know he's not afraid to
bucket up with there, and I think that's what you
need in a power.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
Winger on that fourth line.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
You do have Kertschie on the other side tonight, I
think krts can play a little bit of that style
of game.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
I'm looking forward to see what the fourth line breaks tonight.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
You know who our mucker, our grinder is the guy
always playing the hits. Mike Benton. Mike Betton, back of
the course night Landing Section twenty. He's standing by. He's

Cracking and Bruin's coming up in ten minutes. Let's past
ten seconds for a station ID on the Global Credit
Union Cracking Audio Network. Mike Betting with you back at
back by the corse At Landing in section twenty. Here
in this first matchup between these two teams, right now,
let's go back downstairs head coach Lane Lambert standing by
right now, what ever it fits.

Speaker 21 (27:54):
You, Thanks Mike Lane. We talk a lot about the
vets on this team. The Schwartzes and the McCanns and
the Eberlize, but lot lately has been centered around the
younger players. Not only that four F line, but Berkeley
Catton has been getting a number of great a scoring stances.
It seems like it's a matter of time before he
gets his first goal. Cale Fleury's come in and I say,
he's a young guy. Ha's got over two hundred games

(28:14):
in the league, but he's been playing well. What have
you liked about the younger players, these draft picks that
are now starting to come up and make their presence
known in the NHL.

Speaker 22 (28:25):
Well, I think it's important, certainly for any organization, and
in particular organization, to have our young guys come up
and contribute. What I've liked about them as they've added spark,
we've added energy, and all the while we're developing on
the fly to a certain degree, you know, and they're

(28:48):
getting better and better. You know, each segment, I guess,
if you want to call it that, each game of understanding.
You know what it takes to play in this league,
it takes to win in this league. It's a different
league than anyone's ever been to and ever seen. And
you know, they're doing a good job of sort of

(29:09):
developing into that and their energy has been much needed.

Speaker 8 (29:14):
For our hockey team.

Speaker 21 (29:16):
I guess sticking with that, do you put any added
pressure or responsibility on those veteran players, the Everlys and
the Duns and the Larcens, the Schwartzes to help bring
those guys along to mentor or do you just see
that as a natural way with those guys.

Speaker 22 (29:33):
Well, that's a joy of having what I would call
good leadership and good people and good character people. Is
they are really doing it organically, you know, certainly we
talk about that, but you know they're good, good vettering

(29:54):
guys that I think, and you always remember how you
came up. And I'm pretty sure that Jordan Eberley when
he was a youngster head somebody mentor him, you know,
when he remembers that.

Speaker 9 (30:06):
