Speaker 1 (00:01):
Thanks Mike Lane. It was a three to two win
for your guys. The other night against the La Kings.
You snapped the slide that you were on the power play,
getting three for seven on their opportunities. All in all,
pretty good night for Seattle.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
We I just thought we played well, and I you know,
I've been saying and I've been saying that for the
most part, we've been playing well, you know, and then
they went ahead with you know, five minutes left or
whatever it was, and and you know, it was really
a huge thing that we tied it up, you know,
with our goalie pulled and we're able to get the
(00:35):
victory because our guys have been working hard and I
just feel like they deserved a you know, a break
and a better fate.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Than maybe what we've been getting.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
And so it was good to see going into that
time out of the third period. What was that message
to your group?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Yeah, well, you know what I mean, at the end
of the day, you can't dwell on the past.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
You just got to focus on what's next.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
You know, after we gave up that peak a goal,
we still had another two minute kill, and I thought
our guys did an outstanding job of doing that. You
talk about timing and timely kills. You know, if they
score back to back three.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
One games over.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Yeah, so we had some We had some solid efforts
when we needed them, from both the power play and
the penalty film.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
You've got power play goals now in three of your
last five games. Do you think that this power play
has turned that proverbial corner from what you've been seeing
the last halfle.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Well, look at you know, I keep saying you're going
to go through little peaks and valleys, and you know,
with twelve shots on goal against Edmonton, everybody thought the
power play, oh was you know, in trouble. But you
got to look at the you know, you got to
look at the volume and the shot volume and what
(01:50):
was happening, and you know at some point we were
going to break out of it.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
And we did.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
We just found out earlier this morning. Jared mccannon back
on the injury reserved list three weeks with a lower
body injury. We could ask you this a million times,
but we'll ask you a million and one. What does
this loss mean for the Seattle Crackett And I guess
it's for on a personal note for Jared, I mean
it's got to be frustrating for him to not be
able to get this season off the way he wants it.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Yeah, I mean, you know, it's been a struggle for
him right from the start, with a variation of injuries.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
And not much time spent on the ice.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
You know, I feel bad for him, clearly, it would
you know, it would be tough to go through, you know,
and just got to somehow try and find a way
to move forward and you know, focus on his recovery
and his rehab. You know, for our hockey team, you know,
he's basically a point a game guy for us. You know,
(02:47):
it's really hard to replace that, especially where we haven't
been scoring a lot of goals. And you know, he
fits in real nice on that line with Viniars and every.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
So that poses a little bit of a problem.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
And you know, with Schwartz and cag and also being out,
you know, we're challenged.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
We're challenged offensively for sure. But at the end of
the day, you know, it is what it is.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
We have to find guys and find ways to step
up and win hockey games.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
There's always a way to win a game.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Earlier this morning in Mediaville, you said that there's some
guys who are battling some sicknesses along with the guys
you just mentioned who are out from injury. How does
that game how does that impact the game plan here
tonight against a Utah team that is skilled as fast
they they're themselves. One of the surprises of this league
early on? What is that game plan for your team
like tonight?
Speaker 3 (03:36):
It doesn't change, you know, just we plug different personnel
into different places.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
You know, whether we play eleven d and you.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Know, or eleven forward sorry and seven defensemen or twelve
forwards and sixty we don't even know right now. We've
got a couple guys that didn't even come to the
rink this morning. So at the end of the day,
the game starts at seven o'clock, you got to be
ready to go.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Dash Strip continues a kind of a weird quirk in Seattle,
the La King's mom's trip also overlapping with the.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Crack and dad's trip.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Have you ever seen two trips like that over overlap?
And now that we're forty eight hours in, what's it
been like having the dads around and seeing, you know,
again where your players come from and the people that
they've been able to turn into because of their parents.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Yeah, no, it's really good.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
And I don't recall seeing you know, sort of them
overlap kind of thing. But you know, for us, it's important.
It's important to see it. You know, you get you
get to see character traits you know that you know,
dads and sons have. You know, it's kind of interesting.
It's kind of cool to see that. I get to
(04:40):
know the parents on a little bit more personal level,
you know, with you know, going for dinner last night
with everybody. It was quite a crew, a lot of people,
a lot of numbers. Team services guy has been challenged
the last couple of days, but you know, just really
really nice to be able to see, you know, the
players and staff members share with you know, their person
(05:05):
whatever that might be, you know, share what their experiences
are and what they go through on a daily basis.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
We did meetings this morning.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
You know, they were all there for the meetings that
we have with the players and stuff.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
There's a lot more that goes into.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
A hockey game and getting randed for a hockey game
than just stepping out on the ice.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
So good for them to
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Be able to see what their sons go through on
a daily basis
