Speaker 1 (00:01):
Thanks, Mike Lane. After the game against Colorado, you're talking
about the irony of how this team has been playing
well despite the results, and maybe playing better now than
maybe in those stretches when they were winning. Looking back
at the game against the Colorado Avalanche, what did you
like most about the game and where do you felt
where do you feel the Kraken may have faltered a bit?
(00:21):
And trying to pull that.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Over the line. We played with pace.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
You know, I thought our team was faster through the
neutral zone, and I thought we I thought we did
some good things offensively joining the rush obviously, you know
the ever League goal, you know, with Larsen going to
the backside, I thought, you know Wright's goal, with Alexiak
driving through the middle, We've created some more opportunity from
(00:48):
that standpoint, and we just played a faster.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
More direct game. You know, where did we falter?
Speaker 3 (00:56):
We make little mistakes that you know, end up costing us.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Just a simple control breakout where we you know.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Double double clutch, don't execute, take a penalty, and then
the next thing, you know, it's in the back of
the net. It's mind boggling, to be honest with you,
that you know, we play so well, and we we
haven't come out on the good side of things. But
if we can clean up that stuff, then we'll, you know,
we'll get back on the road that we need to
(01:26):
be on.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Not the first time we've seen Seattle play the top teams,
top stars in this league. Well, go back to a
couple of games against Winnipeg Edmondson this year. How do
you harness that momentum and that energy that we saw
last night moving forward here to tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Well, to be honest with you, it shouldn't be hard.
It's you know, players are professionals. They getting paid a
lot of money to play this hockey game, and they
need to be ready every night.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Any update on Brandon Montour, I know he was out,
didn't return for the third period after that skirmish early
in the period.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Can you share an update on him? He's he's out
tonight and that's all. That's all I know for right now.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Looking at the schedule for Seattle, you've got four games
on this road trip before the holiday break, all in division,
all against teams that are right with you or above
you in the standings. Do you put any more importance
or significance on these four games? Just given the spot
that Seattle's in right now.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah, obviously, you know we're you know, we came off
our road trip about you know, three weeks ago, we
had a nice stretch of home games. You know, we
haven't gotten what we wanted out of those home games
at all, and that just adds the significance of these
next four games before the holidays.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Some sickness going around the locker room, but it seems
like the cracket, at least in practice and in the
last couple of games, have been able to play through that.
What is the state of this team just given all
of that sickness and illness going around the room.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
I think we're I think we're good. I think we're
kind of getting on the good side of it. You know,
we were worse off last week than we are right now,
so that's a positive.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
You know.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
And like I said, there aren't any excuses. You know,
we have guys that have played sick. I think they've
played well when they've played sick.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Some guys that want a really good job of that,
and you know there's been guys that just haven't been
able to go. We're not at that point right now
with anybody.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Calgary Flames have a very strong penalty kill. They have
played a lot better their last ten games and they
did their first ten or fifteen games. What is it
about the Flames that presents a lot of issues for
your team tonight? Where have you seen the biggest growth
in their game from game one to where we're going
to see tonight.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Well, I think at the start of the year they were,
you know, doing what we're kind of doing now, making
a mistake here and a mistake there, which was costing them,
and it's tough to get off that track.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
But they've found a way to do that.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
They're special teams and certainly their penalty kill has been
very good for them, and they've got a balanced line
up it they're.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Big, and you know, they play hard, they play physical,
and you know that's kind of their mo o. And
our challenge.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Is we've got to come out and compete, and we've
got to come out in battle. You're gonna have to
win your one on one battles. The game hasn't changed
for one hundred and twenty five years. It's one on
one battles, and we've got to find a way to
win more of those, certainly on the walls in our zone.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Coming out of our zone.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
If you look at their second goal and even their
third goal, you know we lose wall battles last game
and it ends up in the back of our nets.
So you know, our players as we continue to grow,
and certainly players that haven't played in this league very much,
as they continue to learn and grow the understanding of
those imperative things, those little things that make all the
(04:50):
difference in the world, have to get better.
