Miss Mouth has flown off the Seattle Crackett.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Welcome to Seattle Kraken Hockey. Brought to you by Coor's Life,
by your Western Washington Toyota Dealers, by Beacon Plumbing Virginia, Mason,
Franciscan Hell, by Muckleshute Casino Resort Liuna and Buy Symmetra.
Seattle Kraken Hockey is an exclusive presentation of the Emerald
Queen Casino Krakenn Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
The Seattle Crackett began a four game road trip against
one of the Beasts of the East in the Carolina Hurricanes,
on Tuesday night, and they mounted a beastly third period
effort to kick things off on the right flip. After
the Hurricanes tied the game at two early in period three,
Yonnie Gord gave the krack In their lead back with
(00:46):
a gutsy net front effort, and with five minutes left,
Brandon Taneb gave the Kraken some much needed insurance with
his sixth goal of the season, and the Cracket held
on to snap their three game slide. Tonight, the crack
In head to the Big Apple for the first of
a back to back with the New York Islanders looking
to climb to within one point of that second and
(01:08):
final wildcard spot. Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, Welcome inside
of UBS Arena here on Long Island, el Moutt, New York.
Alongside Alconisky. I'm everet fits you. This is Seattle Cracking
Hockey on the Emeral Queen Casino Cracking Audio Network. Let's
see the pregame show served up by Frost Brewed Corpse Light.
Choose chill out for Seattle going into that game on
(01:30):
Tuesday down in CAROLINAUP. They've not been playing well over
the last week, week and a half of games. They'd
lost three in a row five of their previous seven
going into that contest. But for Seattle, they were able
to get some timely scoring. The lines were shuffled around
going into that contest, Schwartz, Tolbinen Gord and taneb all
(01:50):
helping Seattle to the victory. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
The things that's thought to me were the first goal
in the early in the game, Jayden Schwartz getting that
one nineteen seconds in the play of the middle six
you mentioned in the lineup shuffling. Big part of that
was that middle six. The intensity over sixty minutes right
from the start of the game. It continued through all
three periods and Seattle blocked a lot of shots as well,
twenty four over the course of that sixty minutes, keeping
(02:12):
Carolina away from their own net.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
And it was also a solid defensive effort for the
Kraken as well. They outshot the Hurricanes twenty eight to nineteen,
including fourteen to two in the second period. This was
the Hurricane's lowest shot total in over a decade. And
for Seattle, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and
the Cracking is gonna go back with the exact same
(02:34):
lineup as Tuesday night here tonight.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Yeah, and we anticipated that, but until you see the lineup,
you don't know. So I'm not surprised. You got what
you wanted Tuesday night against the Hurricanes, and not just
the outcome but the intensity as well. The Kracking continuing
to stay out of the box, only taking one penalty,
but Carolina was successful on it, so it was great
that they could stay at the box the rest of
the game.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
And on the other side of the red line. Like Seattle,
this Islanders team, they are within spinning distance of a
playoff spot. Here in the East. However, they are one
two and two in their last five games. They also
have been struggling with a lot of injuries. Anthony Douclair,
Matthew Barzol, Mike Riley, and Adam Pellick all out to injury.
(03:15):
Now de Claire, Barzol and Pellick are right in the
middle of that four to six, six to eight week window,
So December was about the time that they were going
to come back before the Islanders. They're a team that
they play slog hockey. They've already got seven overtime losses
shootout losses this season. They know how to get games
to that extra session and the Kraken have to be
(03:37):
ready for that here tonight.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yeah, as you said, Islanders in a very similar situation
with the Kraken. In fact, they have an identical winning
record at four to eight to one on the season.
This is a team that works hard, they play in
tight games. They've had more overtime than anybody else to
NHL with seven this season.
Speaker 1 (03:52):

you back at thirty two, bar and grill. The Cracking
record coming in right now twelve thirteen and one point
total at twenty five, tied for six in the Pacific.
The Islanders at nine ten and seven twenty five points.
They are last in the Metro Your osby BENMGM. The
(07:42):
line of the Islanders here for today at minus one
thirty and the over under is five and a half. Well,
this road trip couldn't have started on a better note,
but it got pretty dicey in period three after an
apparent three two lead for Carolina on Tuesday was on
the board, then taken off for goaltender interference.
Speaker 6 (07:58):
But after that here come to cracking right wing signed to.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
The corner for Schwartz trying to flip it out and
cron Twers gott it Gord right on the doorstep and
the Kracking take the three to two lead nine twelve
left in the third.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Well, some great corner work by Matty Beniers and Schwartz.
Schwartz is the one that comes up with the puck.
He gets his head up, finds Gordon a slot and
feed it straight across.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
For a goal three to two Kracking.
Speaker 8 (08:27):
So you talk about a big win in a big way,
four to two Cracking over the Hurricanes. They got goals
from Brandon Tannev who finished off the game in period
three later, Ryan Winterton getting his first NHL point on
the play with an assist Jayden Schwartz also scoring nineteen
seconds into the game, Ellie Tolben and also helping fill
in the scoring blanks. And this all came with a
(08:47):
major button Dan Bilsma push Andre Borrokowski healthy scratched in
that game for the first time this season. Daniels sprung
out third straight game, Ryan Winterton, Mitchell Stevens staying in
the lineup, Riker Evan also missing. He was banged up
last Saturday in a loss of San Jose after blocking
a shot the crack and yet holding Carolina the seventeen shots.
(09:08):
That's the Hurricanes lowest and the Rod Brendamore era and
lowest for them in ten years. By the way, Joey
Decord back on the winning track. He had seventeen saves
on nineteen shots. Beg your pardon, fifteen saves in the game,
good enough for an eleven six and one record. Jaydon
Schwartz earlier today, sharing more on the win, he said,
foot speed is at the foundation of Tuesday.
Speaker 9 (09:31):
Yeah, that we're just aggressive. They're moving our feet well,
played fast, support each other. Well, you know in all
three zones there's a fifty to fifty ballot. I think
another guy was right there to help out. And yeah,
it was something to build off for sure. You know,
both great players should do a lot of little things right,
sort of fun to play with.
Speaker 8 (09:53):
Shot total adjusted to nineteen Joey Decord good enough, but
yet the crack and walking away with the win based
on those elements that let us the attention. Now in
the second matchup of two against the Islanders of the
Kraken Gopher a regular season series sweep. Last matchup three
to two win at Climate Plage Arena on November sixteenth
in the Kraken record five and two all time against
(10:13):
the Islanders of Crack And aiming for their fourth win
in a row and fifth win last six games of
this series. They have won two of three on Long Island.
This continues to span of four games in six days,
all against the Metro Division the Crack and right now
holding pretty firm four and two against teams out of
that division and defensively pretty on point head to head
(10:34):
allow on exactly two goals per game in each of
those last four matchups as well. This evening's lineup looking
pretty much the same as Tuesday, as we shared earlier.
And why not Joey Decord back in net once again.
Second game against the Islanders for him coming up, as
he had twenty two saves first matchup last month at
Climate Pledge Arena, and that means Jayden Schwartz is back
(10:56):
with Maddy Vaniers and Yonni Gord on a line together
in that trio six points combined in the win at Carolina,
and Schwartz said the small new once plays with Beniers
made a big difference.
Speaker 9 (11:07):
Yeah. I mean he's a guy like he's you know,
he takes pride in all three zones. He does a
lot of little things right like I said, you know,
he's been digging on the face offs for us, makes
a little place like giving goes, moves to fuck at
the right time, and obviously has a lot of skill
in cc ice very well, so he can distribute the
fuck very well, you know, coming to the zone.
Speaker 8 (11:29):
Our kracking story lines, first off, begin with Brandon tanneb
number one, hitting five hundred career NHL games this evening.
He's been productive points in three of the last four
games and so far as six goals out of twenty
six this season.
Speaker 6 (11:42):
That's on pace, by.
Speaker 8 (11:43):
The way, for an eighteen goal campaign, and he's looking
to make a big impact here in a milestone game.
Second storyline third period navigation. The Islanders struggling in this
area this season. More on that in a bit, but
the krack end coming through on Tuesday, bringing up a
recent trend where they've got three comeback wins in period three.
Only the Flyers, Vegas and Flames have more this season,
(12:05):
and their plus nine goal differential in the third fifth
best now in the National Hockey League and finally Oliver
by York Strand riding a six game point streak. He's
got seven points in total in that span. He'll be
on the right wing here with Shane Wright and Ellie Tolbinen.
That trio terrific recently together as well. Let's hear more.
Jaden Schwartz said, this trip's out to a good start.
(12:27):
It's a foundation, but yet it is only a start.
Speaker 6 (12:30):
It's just one game.
Speaker 9 (12:30):
But obviously I can give this a little confidence with
how we can play, you know, just believing in what
we're doing, digging in for each other. You're just being
a little bit more focused and dialed in. It's just
one game, but we gotta do it again.
Speaker 10 (12:43):
Your name.

now for a look at the islanders tough start to
their season under head coach Patrick Watt. After it look
promising with him coming in the door last year and
the Islanders making the playoffs, but injuries have certainly taken
(16:09):
their toll. Matt Barzel, Anthony Douclear, Adam Pellick out among
the group hurt all out of various ailments. The Islanders
also playing in twenty six games. Nobody mentioned earlier has
more than eleven games in this lineup, and Do Clear,
their free agent pickup in the offseason, has missed all
but five games lower body ailment. Their most recent game
(16:30):
two to one overtime loss to Montreal. That was the
Islander's seventh loss in nine games, mounting just twenty goals
in that process. Third periods also have been an issue.
They've had a lead in the third period last matchup
against the Krack and of course the Krack and came
back and won the Islanders seven to two and two
when they lead after two, but it's more alarming when
they're tied one, four and four when the games are
(16:53):
that close after forty minutes and Dayton back. Last three seasons,
including this one, no team has settled for the loser
points in ot or a shootout more than the Islanders
twenty one and overtime and eleven in a shootout. Special
teams major issue as well, power play last in the
NHL just nine of seventy three penalty kill is thirty

Islanders afloat. They've got twenty points apiece tie right now

Speaker 8 (18:19):

Speaker 1 (21:23):
We're back at Ubs Arena on Long Island here in
New York City alongside Alkoniski. I'm ever Fitzyukrakeen and Islanders
wrapping up their two game season series. Seattle coming off
of a massive four to two win in Carolina on Tuesday,
some lineup shakeups going into that game. The Kraken going
to run it back here this evening. Al give us
(21:46):
some keys for this one on how the Krake and
can get a second consecutive win in the metro.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
Well, let's start by the same sixty minutes of intensity
that we saw the other night. The level of fire
and fury that Seattle opened the game with and continue
to display for that sixty minutes in Carolina kept Carolina
on the ropes all night. Bring that same level here
again tonight and you'll find the same result. Secondly, get
that first goal. Striking first is not a deal breaker,
(22:12):
but it's the preferred story to any game in Carolina.
Jaden Schwortz did just that nineteen seconds into the game.
That first goal lights up your bench, flattens your opponent,
and silences the crowd. Get out and get that first
goal again here tonight. And then third, goaltending superiority. The
cord was the better goalie last game, and that always
impacts the outcome. He needs to keep the puck in
(22:33):
front of him, track down shots, and defend the immediate
and most threatening attack and not cheat towards the attack
that banger may not come. Yes, the New York Islanders
are fighting for a spot as well the Hurricanes. They're
not as strong as the Hurricanes are, but you need
to play them the same way, bring that same sixty
minutes of intensity, get that first goal again, and if
(22:54):
Joey to Courd is the better goaltender, you'll leave Long
Island with two points in a two game.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
You know, we've had a lot of discussions about the
lineup this season and certain players needing to get going,
mainly Andre Berreokovski Matty Beniers at time, who seemed to
find his stride. How about Yonni Gord in recent games.
He has also found his Stride's point points in five
of his last seven games. But I like this approach
(23:21):
for Dan Biosma. Andre Berrekovski out again. You and I
had a little conversation off the record with him earlier
today and basically calling it a reset, similar to Shane right,
similar to Oliver b Roudstram, And you're hoping that he'll
use this as fire and fuel to get back to
his game. But if you're Seattle, if this lineup is
making you successful, no reason why you can't go with it.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Again, No, absolutely, and you want to go with what works.
So I don't see a change happening now. If Seattle
goes on a four or five game winning speak, they
might have to do something at some point, but certainly
as this road trip goes that, if they continue to win,
I don't think you're going to see a change.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
In the lineup.
Speaker 3 (23:58):
On the Brerekowski side, you should be upset when you
get healthy scraped, you should be mad, But it's what
you do with that emotion that matters.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Funnel that emotion.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Back into your game, back into your practices, back in
your morning skates, and you'll be back in the lineup
with a different level of your game.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
I mentioned Yanni Gord a few other players that have
been getting back to their games here as of late.
Chandler Stevenson's got seven points his last nine games. You've
got Jayden Schwartz nine points his last thirteen. Jared McCann
he's got eight and eleven his last twenty two. Ellie
Tolminen has been finding the back of the net. Six
game point streak for Oliver Byorick Strand. I say this
(24:33):
to say, for a team that is predicated their success
is predicated on that full roster mentality, that depth scoring
we talk so much about. It's really good to see
these guys starting to lighten the lamp and contribute offensively.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Yeah, we talked a lot about that middle sixth group
last game and all of them contributing on just about
every goal, and it takes a little bit of pressure
off the Jared McCanns and the Magicineers a little bit.
But at the same time, you think about when you
can get both that middle six going and that top line,
the Matty Paneers and the Jere McCanns, no one can stop.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
You, you know, cannot be stopped as well. Mike Betton.

be stopped? Also, that's ever fits you Al Kiniski. They
have the call in about eleven minutes from now. Well,
more insights on this one with head coach Dan Bilesma.
He's standing by right here with ever fits.
Speaker 13 (27:50):
You back with cracking head coach Dan Bilesman. Dan, you
get a big win in Carolina to kick off this
road trip. Where do you feel the biggest differences were
between the last three games for Seattle and the win
against Carolina. I think.
Speaker 25 (28:08):
I I I just think we you know, we tiptoed
into the games in San Jose and against Anaheim and
reacted to reacted poorly to the flow of the game
and the ebb and flow of the game. And you know,
we uh, we've had success in the seven prior games,
(28:31):
limiting teams two goals or less, and you know, we
we just let it be too easy for for Anaheim
and San Jose to to be in the game and
to get opportunities to score. And you know, I think,
you know, getting punched in the gut with those three games.
(28:54):
I think, you know the challenge of a tough road
trip and some tough places against some tough teams, and
you know, also the realization that we we can't we
can't tiptoe in the games and see how they're going
to go. We have to be we have to be aggressive,
we have to be on our toes, we have to
be North. We have to play with speed and that
emotion and that energy makes us an effective team. And
(29:19):
you know, I think so you you probably our best
game of the year against Carolina. You know, not the
prettiest of games all the time, but you know, direct North,
hard plays from our D. Had to win wall battles
in the wall, had to get it behind their D
and did that repeatedly. And you know what's the result.
(29:40):
The result is his goals in the offense at the
other end of the rank. But it's also you know,
preventing the team from getting to their game. And you
know that's that's a tough opponent to do it against
it they're notorious for shot volume.
Speaker 8 (29:54):
And it's a less tiptoe, more aggressive. That's the message.
