Speaker 3 (00:20):
It was yet another point worthy effort for the Crack
at Monday against Minnesota. However, the result didn't reflect that effort,
as the Kraken fell for a fifth consecutive time in regulation.
Seattle overcame a slow start and went into the third
time with the wild one one, and despite surrendering the
go ahead goal midway through, continued to pressure offensively. Unfortunately,
(00:43):
a pair of empty netters for Minnesota kept them in
front for good, sending them to a four to one win. Tonight,
the Kraken complete a three game homestand against the La
Kings with a chance to get back in the win
column in front of a very special group of people
as the Kraken Fathers and Mentor's trip kicks off.
Speaker 1 (01:03):

Speaker 3 (01:15):
You are listening to the pregame show served up by
Frost Grew Corpse Light Choose Chill al back to back
games Detroit and now Minnesota where Seattle has played well
enough to win, minimally well enough to get points, but
unfortunately the results have not reflected that hard work.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
They put in.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Yeah, and they've had a better effort in both those games.
They put themselves in a position to win. Unfortunately they
just come out on the wrong side of it. They're
gonna need just a little bit more from each player
tonight tonight, and we heard Jordan Eberley talk about that previously.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Yeah, after the game on Monday, some very points a
comment from the captain, Jordan Eberley, And if I'm putting
my fan hat on momentarily, you like to hear that
passion and the energy from Jordan Neberley.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Saying that he needs and we need quoting him. We
need more from every guy on this team.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Lane Lambert has routinely said we can't have guys being passengers.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Everyone's got to be bought in.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
So it seems like the gauntlet has been laid from
the locker room internally up to the head coach's desk
as well.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
I think sometimes when when you're taking out of the
lineup as a healthy scratch, you have a response when
you come back into the lineup. Tonight, we'll see Jamie
alexiak back into the lineup.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Let's see what his response is.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
But I think, as you said, Jordan Eberody, making that
statement is for the entire team. Lane Lambert talking about passengers,
He's talking to those passengers. There could be a big
response here tonight in tonight's.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Game, in that game Monday against the Red or against
the Wild. Excuse me, the Seattle krackt going three for
three on the power play. They've got a power on
the PK. Rather, they have a power play in two
of their last three games. After a four point drought
for the Seattle Kracket. They've gotten a perfect PK now
three times in their last five games after surrendering at
(02:56):
least one power play goal in nine straight. So I asked,
are we seeing the special teams improving? The most polarizing
topic as of late surrounding this team.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
Well, I think we're certainly seeing the PK improving. You know,
Lean Lambert talked about that this morning his avail where
he said they've simplified things a little bit. I think
that that helps a lot as from a penalty killer standpoint,
where you're not thinking do I do a B or C.
I think Lambert has said it's always ad way and
then we'll go from there, and I think that's been helping.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
On the other side of the red line, the LA
Kings come in here very similar to the Seattle Krack
and in that they don't give up a whole lot.
They don't get a whole lot either. They're four to
two and three in their last nine games coming into tonight.
They've scored one or two goals six times in that stretch,
So tonight could be a war of attrition, if you will,
(03:46):
between some two pretty stout defenses.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
Yeah, and depending on how much of this game has
played even strength, LA has this the third best league
league goals against average at two forty eight or two
point point four eight, and Seattle's right behind them at
two nine to six. So if most of this game
is played even strength, this could be a real low
scoring affair.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
It's a very special game tonight for both the La
Kings and the Seattle krackt. The Kraken kicking off their
fathers and Mentors trips is the dads and mentors. Male
mentors came in yesterday. They'll be here tonight, we'll hop
on the plane tomorrow go off to Utah and they'll
stick with the Kraken throughout the weekend. The La Kings
are wrapping up their mother's shrip here tonight as well
(04:26):
after a game in Utah as the Utah Mammoth. They're
going to be a part of two parent mentor trips.
But for both these teams, you are a parent yourself.
You've played high level hockey as well. Your parents have
seen you play. What's it like to have your mom,
your dad, brother, aunt, uncle, cousin, mentor in the building
watching you do what you do at the highest level.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Well, I mean when I played near here in Seattle,
my parents would drive down from the Vancouvery for every
home game, and it was always special having them in
the stands. It was a smaller arena. You could see
them in warm ups, and there's just something about going
out and showing them what they put all that time
and money and energy in those six am practices. I
remember making coffee for my mom because she was getting
up and I had to get my gear ready. You
(05:09):
give it's a chance to show them what all that
effort and commitment has done for your game, and you
get to go put that on display and.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Tell you what My gold calls are always a little
bit more crisper when Mama Fits is standing in the
press box in Detroit as well. Really looking forward to
hanging out with some of the dads and the mentors here.

their three game homestand facing a Kings team for eight
and seven thirty five points in holding down third place
in the Pacific Division, the Crack and trying to improve
on their seven seven and one head to have record well.
As Eevyett now mentioned, this evening a special one for
(09:14):
a family affair and for the Kraken it is the
beginning of their annual Dads and Mentor's trip, which means
the Krack and hosting family and mentors of each Crack
and player. They're in the house for tonight and they'll
also be on the road for Utah with their next
game coming up on Friday in Utah and for the
Crack in their mission get back into a winning form
(09:36):
with family in tow because they come off a four
to one lost to Minnesota, Jordan Eberley scored and the
only Kraken goal on the power play, and a tough
night which spoiled a terrific effort by Philip Grubauer which
now pushed the Crack and run to zero five and
one in the last six games. They are looking for
their first win since November twenty second at Pittsburgh in
(09:59):
the stretch of lou five in a row, the Crack
and trying to get out of a run of giving
up four goals per game that type for most in
the NHL in that span with Columbus and offensively, goal
has been hard to come by eight times this year
from this last game, the Kraken were held to one
goal or less. Afterward, Jordan Eberley's reaction included comments of quote,
(10:20):
we need to find a little bit more from every
single guy end quote here's a head coach Lane Lambert
felt about.
Speaker 9 (10:27):
That, agree with his assessment that we need more from everybody.
You know, we we have to have everybody playing well
and we just can't afford to have any passengers. And
I didn't think I didn't think everyone brought their best smake.
Speaker 5 (10:43):
So the crack and looking to amplify their effort, and
maybe an example of the latter. In Monday's game, Vin's
done with a massive hit on Matt and Zucarello matter
of fact, knocked a wild forward out of the game
and you kind of feel back of the situation, but
it was done, set a very clean one which set
a threatening tone for the rest of the entire game.
In the physicality department, we cut up with Don in
(11:05):
the Crack and dressing room this morning here to talk
about the art of a big hit, and we's got
here on the dads and mentors trips side, but also
with a pretty obvious idea for this evening, in which
is start fast. All that here in this one on
one conversation. Well, Ben's first off, I'll just begin kind
of in transitioned from a couple of nights ago. What's
the meaning of a good start?
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Tonight.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (11:27):
I think in our own building, it's definitely important to
gain territory and to put the pressure on from the
start of the game. I think we've had some pretty
good starts and some okay starts. I don't think we've
come out completely flat this season like maybe we have
in the past, but I think just not overwhelming ourselves,
trying to get more content to the nets and just
(11:49):
try to simplify right from the start of the game.
That'll get everyone into it and get everyone feeling good
for the start of the period.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
What's been the biggest difference as far as five on
five play and how this team has been moving the
puck recently and trying to generate more of action and
activity towards the front of the net opposite way of
your own goal.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Ten.
Speaker 10 (12:06):
Yeah, I think when pucks are going to the net,
it makes you kind of feel good about your own
individual game. I think it brings confidence to your line
and to be able to create offense.
Speaker 11 (12:15):
That's how you're gonna win games. And I think.
Speaker 10 (12:19):
Our shot volume and the attempts have been where we
want them to be the last few games, which obviously
sucks to see the results not go our way.
Speaker 11 (12:27):
But I think we just need to stick to that
kind of.
Speaker 10 (12:30):
Mentality and stay dialed in that aspect of the game,
and obviously continue our good defensive structure, which we've had
and it's leaked a little bit, but I think overall
our games have been pretty good.
Speaker 11 (12:40):
I know the scores maybe show a little different.
Speaker 10 (12:43):
I think special teams, you know, even six on five
at the end last game, can kind of skew the
scores a little differently. But I think overall five on
five we've been doing a pretty decent job. Now it's
about limiting is much more defensively, giving up a lot
less than we have, and to give our chances, ourselves
(13:04):
a better chance to win.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
For a moment, I would love to get back into
the hit you had a couple of nights ago and
in today's game, what do modern players have to learn
about the art of laying a big hit?
Speaker 10 (13:15):
Well, I mean, usually when you're committing to a big hit,
it's either going to be a big hit or a
big miss. Guys are really skilled right now and have
the capability of beating you one on one, and I
think a lot of guys don't really try that a
lot anymore.
Speaker 11 (13:28):
I think.
Speaker 10 (13:31):
Not that I was aiming for a big hit, but
I'm kind of angling off a player and trying to
persuade him to go down the wall and show him
space that I want him to go to to just
kind of rub them out and.
Speaker 11 (13:42):
Strip the puck off of him.
Speaker 10 (13:43):
And that's unfortunate to see any guy get injured on
a big hit when it's when it's clean, and that's
never my ten in my game play to injure players.
And I'm not sure too sure what's going on with him,
but obviously feel for him and hope he has a
speedy recovery. And that's but it's a physical, physical game
at a fast game. I think if it goes the
(14:05):
other way, like I say, if I missed that hit,
he makes quite a move on me, and I don't
really know what happens offensively for them after that, So
you know, it's it's a timing and an art. I
think you don't really see it that much anymore.
Speaker 11 (14:17):
Guys. Guys aren't really trying to make those.
Speaker 10 (14:20):
One on one plays, like I said, And you know,
sometimes you catch yourself without a choice to kind of
lay a hit like that. But yeah, it's it's the
physicality of the game that makes it so special.
Speaker 11 (14:30):
It's so fast and things can happen so quickly, So.
Speaker 10 (14:34):
Yeah, it's It's not the biggest part of my game,
but something I definitely enjoy is the the grit and
the toughness of the sport.
Speaker 11 (14:43):
It's so very effective.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
Now defensively, as far as what you this team wants
to get after this evening, how does that compare it
to two nights ago.
Speaker 11 (14:50):
I think as far as tonight, just focus on being patient.
Speaker 10 (14:52):
We're no both teams are very structured defensively, so we
know we're gonna have to chip a out of pucks
in and work twice is hard to get them back,
and I think to not get frustrated with whatever the
shot volume is either way or whatever the score is
from the start. I think we just need to be
patient for our offense and making sure that the special
teams really dialed in again tonight.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
Now this is finally the opener of the Dad's and
Mentor's trip, and I learned that you have your brother
on this trip. What's me to have him around?
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Now?
Speaker 11 (15:20):
Yeah, it's amazing.
Speaker 10 (15:21):
I think growing up playing hockey with him and against him,
it's a special bond that we've always shared as hockey
and small world enough that he played with Mason Marchman
growing up too, so it's pretty cool to just kind
of see everything come together and we're all in the
same place now enjoying something really special together.
Speaker 11 (15:40):
So it means a lot for me to have him here.
I know he was excited and has a lot of questions.
Speaker 10 (15:46):
And I think when you kind of talk about the
lifestyle you live and what happens on a day to
day basis, it's hard to really explain it until you've
actually lived it. And I think it's really special for
us to all bring someone significant here to be able
to live through us a little bit and kind of
see what goes on behind the scenes. So it's really
special to meet everyone's person that they brought along. We've
(16:06):
had some good trips in the past, and it's nice
to kind of make connections outside of the game rather
than just seeing your teammates every day. You start to
see different faces and learn a little bit more about
the people that you spend every single day with. So
it's really special to have them here, and I think
it's going to be pretty cool bond for us to
kind of talk about things, catch up on life a
little bit, and then also just enjoy the lifestyle again.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
I'm excited that's been done with a crack and trying
to capitalize on some potential extra energy here with the
dads and mentors in the house for this game against
the Kings, first of four meetings. By the way, the
krack and have one too of the last three, and
when they win, they tend to keep it on the
low end of scoring. They have held the Kings of
two goals or less in each win, except for, of course,
(16:51):
that famous game back on November twenty ninth of twenty
twenty two nine eight win in overtime, so you can
expect another two one or three two game if these
two teams have it their way. The cracking story lines
first up begin with the first period approach, and if
it's a race to two or three, the team who
scores first could have a massive advantage. The Kraken eight
(17:12):
three and three when they score the first goal of
the game. This season, they are ten four and two
when they lead or are tied at the end of
one period, and they're facing the Kings team pretty good
in the first period situations seven to one and one
when they lead at the end of one. Our second
story line, Captain Jordan Everley's also picking up the pace.
(17:32):
He's got points in three straight games nine goals this season,
which puts him on a twenty seven goal pace, by
the way, which would be his best in the NHL
since twenty thirteen and fourteen with Edmonton, when he potted
twenty eight goals last or that season. And in this
series head to head, he has been terrific for the Kraken.
He's got thirteen points in twelve games against the Kings.
(17:54):
Our third story line Brandon Montour and his impact on
the blue line the team, of course, pledging to shoot
the puck more. In his last game eleven shot attempts,
a game high against Minnesota and against the Kings, he
has been very good ten points in just sixteen career matchups.
He's got goals in three of his last four head
to have meetings, So Montors certainly could make a big
(18:15):
difference on the blue line. And here's more with Montor.
We also got him back in the Crack and dressing
room and learn more about his dad on the trip,
a heavy schedule this month, and how the Crack can
respond after the captain's comments from Monday, but Brandon, first off,
Jordan's said that there's a lot of talent, how do
they make up with some of the parts that can
snap out of this recent skid.
Speaker 12 (18:35):
Yeah, I mean guys have played veteran players. Again, there's
some stuff obviously we need to clean up, be consistent
games that we want to have back. But it's not
like the guys aren't trying the effort levels there. You know,
we just got to come together and find ways to
you know, get out of this, and consistency is one
(18:58):
of them.
Speaker 5 (18:58):
Considering what you're up against this evening, what's the meaning
of a good start tonight?
Speaker 12 (19:02):
Again, another team that's in their division tight, a team
that's obviously played together for a long time. They know
what it takes, what it what it means for their
team to be good. And it's gonna be a you know,
I would assume less interested or interesting game, you know,
low action, defensive game. But that's how they play, that's
how we play. So we got a smart picker chances
(19:25):
stay tight to their obviously their team there their Ford group.
We got a lot of high end talent and do
you like to move? And good team over there.
Speaker 5 (19:33):
What's the biggest key for you with managing a pretty
heavy schedule here before Chris is in the holiday break.
Speaker 12 (19:38):
Much, to be honest, to recovery, sleep, make sure bumps
and bruises are good, but mentally, just be ready to
go each and every night.
Speaker 5 (19:47):
I know that here this is the opener for the
dads and mentors trip. You have your own father around.
What's the meaning of having him here for a few days.
Speaker 11 (19:54):
Yeah, that's great.
Speaker 12 (19:54):
I mean, obviously they they live a ways away, so
to be just here, uh, being a part of this.
You know, he's done what four or five now, so
he's kind of a veteran to it. But being a
part of this, be a part of the meeting other dads.
But I was also you know, just being in Seattle,
seeing my family, the kids. You know, I know he's there.
(20:15):
He's excited about just seeing my kids and having fun
with them. And obviously, you know, traveling to another city
like Utah will be cool for him. He's never been
there obviously, so for them to check out different cities
as well as pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
It was the most important thing he told you, as
far as being a player on or off the ice,
growing up, so enjoy.
Speaker 12 (20:34):
What we're doing, having fun. He's one that you know,
seems like he never has a bad day. I think,
you know. I take that, you know, and learn from that.
But enjoy what you're doing. Always have fun competing and again,
at this level, you're playing with the best players in
the world, win or lose. You want to compete against
the best, and you know you enjoy doing that.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
As Brandon Montour two points off the scoring pace right
now on the crack inside and right now facing an
update here for the injury side, Matt Murray, of course,
we said out nine games lower body, Jaden Schwartz out
four games lower body, ailmen both on IR near to

cup winning teams about to retire. That's on Jay Cope
Patar making one more tour across the league this season.
Made his debut at age nineteen back in oh six
to SOHO seven. In for context, Shane Wright was two
years old, Berkeley Canton was nine months old back then.
(24:22):
Time certainly flies Cope Patar scoring Monday at Utah. The
Kings won that game for two, and he completed a
Mammoth task against Sammmmoth. He's now scored a goal against
all thirty two teams in the NHL. Utah was the
last team for him to check off on that list.
The Kings led wire to wire in the win. Darcy
Kemper made nineteen says, which down puts them third in
(24:43):
the Pacific, three points ahead of Edmonton and two points
back of the Vegas Golden Knights. Previously, they had a
massive breakout game six nothing win over Chicago. Because they
have been struggling here for offense much of this season
five on fine goals, thirtieth in the league with forty seven.
Power play, by the way, is last in the NHL,
just one of the last fifteen over the last six games.
(25:06):
The underhead coach Jim Hiller, what works for them a
defensive heavy approach. They are third right now goals allowed
per game two point four and they're six also in
the NHL in shots allowed with just twenty six per
game as well. Here's Jim Hiller with an interesting connection
on the Kraken side and also on what the Kings
are trying to get after in this first matchup.
Speaker 16 (25:29):
I know the coach while we coached together for years
in the Islanders, really good coach. We'll put an emphasis
on the defensive game for sure. So we've seen that
right if you look at their numbers, strong defensive team,
so we'll be ready for that.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
That's referencing Jim Hiller's time with Lane Lambert. The two
coaching back with the New York Islanders for three seasons
between twenty nineteen and twenty twenty two, all under the
watchful eye of head coach Barry Trotz. Their King storylines
first Out begin with first off the Kraken, trying to
find a way to handle kempe He's got points in
four of the last five games and against the Kraken
(26:04):
six goals head to head, top line guy out there
with Alex Leferrier and and Jacob Patard. Those six goals
he has, by the way, ty with Trevor Moore first
against the Kraken among all Kings skaters. Secondly, it's finding
a way to handle Kevin Fiala, who is a playmaker deluxe.
Sixteen assists against the Krack and that's third all time
of anyone against the Kraken head to head, and it's
(26:26):
twenty one points right now, second behind Kempe on the Kings.
Also ten goals that ties him as well with Campey
and third and last as well Anton Forrestberg in net
his first appearance in the last five games. He is
three to one all time against the Kraken and a
pretty hard guy to get through nine two nine say
percentage last game nineteen saves on twenty shots on the
(26:48):
twenty ninth of November, and the Kraken trying to stop
him from getting wins in back to back games for
the first time this season.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Everetten.

This is Gene Schwartz forward for the Seattle Cracking.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
This is Mason marsh Fan. This is Maddy Beiniars.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Now back to Krakin Hockey on the Global Credit Union
Kraken Audio Network.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
We're back inside of Climbing Pledgerina Verard fits you Al
Kaniski alongside Kracking, wrapping up a three game homestand with
the La Kings trying to snap a five game regulation loss,
six game overall losing streak. O five and one are
the Kraken in their last six games, but still as
(29:38):
of tonight as we enter this game, just three points
back of that second a final wildcard spot with the
Kings tonight the Utah Mammoth coming up here on Thursday.
So the Kracking win both these games and they're right
back in the playoff spot, which goes to show you
how tight this league is this season. And I feel
like every year a six game losing streak would take
you out of it.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
But this might be the year where a team potentially
could come back. But you've got two teams. You are strong.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Defensively, It's gonna be a battle out there tonight, Partner,
What do the krackt need to do tonight to break
the slot?
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Well, first of all, they have to own the middle
of the ice.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
The Kings love clogging up that neutral zone like it's
rush hour on the four or five. The Kraken need
to punch through that traffic with speed, smart chips, and
a little controlled chaos. Win the middle and the Kings
will be stuck trying to merge with foggy windows. Second,
get greasy in front of the net. La loves pretty
defensive structure, so the crackt need to make things ugly screens, tips,
(30:36):
hacks whacks. Think of it as turning anton Forstrom's crease
into a construction go So the more net front chaos,
the more the Kings start looking like commoners. And then, third,
stay five on five and keep it simple. The Kings
thrive when it could turn the game into a special
team's talent show. So the Cracket must keep this thing
it even strength as much as humanly possible. Smart sticks,
(30:58):
clean exits, and zero heat of the moment, penalties will
go a long way. If Seattle keeps the game five
one five, the advantage tilts firmly towards the guys with tentacles.
Stick to the plan, control the middle, recavoc in front
of the net, and stay out of the penalty box,
and the cracking will tilt the ice right out from
under the Kings. Keep this at five one five, and
suddenly all that royal swagger looks more than a costume
(31:21):
party gone terribly wrong. Seattle will dictate the style, the pace,
and probably the movie here at CBA, and by the
final horn, the Kings might be asking to abdicate the
throne voluntarily.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
You did it again. It came I got abdicated game
and Kings the Coliners. That was great. Let's pause real
quick for a station I d on the Global Credit
Union Kraganautio network.
Speaker 3 (31:46):
Well, al, I think in that game on Monday against Minnesota,
we the fan and and and the Kraken UH community
got what we've been looking for the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
A bone crunching.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
Game, changing hit, clean hit, Vince Done laying out Matt Zucarello.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
He did not return to that game.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
And obviously one of the one of the better good
guys in the NHL all around, as Matt and Zuparello.
You're hoping is something long term, but that's the way
hockey goes. When you see a hit like that. You
saw the response in the corner. We haven't seen a
whole lot of that, that team toughness that we've been
talking a lot about the last couple of years.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
It was really good to see that hit from Done.
Speaker 4 (32:29):
It absolutely was. And whether you're the giver of the
hit in the case Vince Done, or you're on the
bench watching the hit, it gets you fired up. And
I always remember as a player, you know, getting into
a hockey game, especially that first ten minutes, those first
few shifts, trying to set the tone.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
One of the ways you do that is physicality.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
And if you can get a hit like that early
in that first period, not only do you get in
the game, but it gets your team into the game
as well.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
Speaking of physicality, a couple of line changes here to
I Jamie Alexiak comes back in for Josh Bahera Ben
Myers called up yesterday. We'll take Ty Carcier spot on
the left side of that fourth line. So another opportunity
for Ben Myers, who when he's played here for the
Seattle Krack and you and I, amongst other folks on
this press row here have been really impressed by his play.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
Yeah, he stood out too times he's been up here
to play with the Kracking and I'm looking forward to
see how he does here on the wing with Goodreau
in the middle and winter Throw on that right side.
It could be a real gritty line or physical line,
a line that can go soften the opposition out there.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
That's what he brings.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
And then as far as Jimiy Alexiak coming back in
the lineup, you know, Jaden Schwartz is out right now.
He leads this team, this cracking team in takeaways. Takeaways
is such an important part of the game.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
It's when you lift a guy's stick and literally take
the puck away.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Well after Jayden Schwartz, it's Brandon Montour and Jamie Alexiak
at twelve in second and third place. So you get
Alexiak back in the lineup, you get takeaways happening a
little more frequently.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
That means you just have the puck under stick bore.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
We've got a great off the ice story line these
next seventy two hours for Seattle, it's the annual fathers
and mentors trip for the Crack and they'll be off
to Utah tomorrow with the team as well.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
Weirdly enough, the LA Kids Mother's trip concludes here tonight,
so you've got.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
One suite of dads and one suite of moms going
at it here tonight. And we touched on this earlier
here the pregame show served up by Frostbrew Course Life.
It's got to be such a thrill for these guys
to play in front of their parents in the NHL,
and we talked to Lane Lambert about it earlier today.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
A small opportunity for them to say thank you for
all those six am rides to the rank when I
was a kidding.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
Absolutely, And for some of those moms and dads on
on both sides of the ice, it's their first time
doing this. For some it's their tenth time doing this,
and they all want to do it every single time.
It's a great opportunity to, you know, get close to
your what your son does for a living again, see
those investments you made over probably ten to fifteen years
of early rides to the rank early morning practices, paying
(34:55):
off here at a professional level.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
You know whose dad is. I'm just so proud of him.
Do you know whose dad is?

Cracking trying to get out of an zero five and
one skid in their first of four matchups with the Kings,
which opens up here this evening, Mike betting with you
back at Climbing Pledge Arena. Right now, here's that coach
Lane Lambert standing by what ever fits.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
You, Thanks Mike Lane.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Second game in a row, the Cracking have gotten a
solid effort, but unfortunately now for the sixth game in
the row, the results have gone the other way. Just
take us back through that effort against Minnesota two nights ago.
Speaker 9 (38:06):
Well, like you said, I thought it was solid. I
didn't think we started the game well, there's no excuse
for that, you know, coming off of you know, the
losses that we had and coming out at home. I
thought our goaltender played very well. But then after that
I thought the game was extremely even. You know, it
was going to be another one of those games like
Detroit or even like Dallas at home where you know
(38:26):
someone was gonna put away an opportunity. You know, unfortunately
we we failed to do. So, you know, told the
it at the crossbar. We had a goal post. So
you know, for the second game in a row at
home to you know, come out of that game without
any points is really disheartening and stings.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
You can sense the frustration from the captain Jordan Ebley
after the game saying that, you know, paraphrasing, he needs more,
he wants more will and passion from the players. You
agree with those comments postgame now that we've had a
thirty six hours to sit and marinate on that. Just
your overall thoughts on what he said and the challenge
that's been laid down to this group.
Speaker 9 (39:10):
Yeah, I mean I agree with them, and I think
that there's certain guys that are you know, able to
give us more. How we let's put it that way.
And you know, we are a team that needs everyone going.
We've said that right from day one. And when we
(39:31):
don't have everyone going and we have a couple of passengers,
it makes us harder. It makes it harder for this
hockey team to win hockey games.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
You've played this game for a long time, you've coached
this game for a long time. Undoubtedly you've been in
slumps before. How do you pull yourself out of something
like this?
Speaker 1 (39:48):
Uh?
Speaker 9 (39:49):
You just you have to stay positive, You have to
have the right mindset and be determined. You know, nobody
feels sorry for you. You can't feel sorry for yourself,
you know. And sometimes it gets better worse before it
gets better.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
It just it's the way it is.
Speaker 9 (40:03):
But if you come in with the right mindset, you
continue to stay determined and you continue to believe in
the process, you know, for me, you'll get out of it.
You know, we have played very well this year. You know,
our first twenty games were really good. And you know,
it's not like we can't do it. We have to
(40:23):
get back to what we're doing and get back to our.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
Identity despite the dip in the season. Right now the
crack and still within reaching distance of a playoff spot,
a lot of hockey left to go, and two teams
coming up that are ahead of you in the standings
in LA and Utah starting tonight with the Los Angeles Kings,
like Seattle, very defensively structured, they're not going to give
up a whole lot. What type of game can we
expect when you essentially have you know, two strong defensive
(40:50):
teams going.
Speaker 9 (40:50):
Up against each other, Well, it's going to be a
game that is going to require determination to get to
the other teams that they're a big hockey team for size,
you know, the defenses is very big as well, So
the battle is going to be you know, at the paint.
I don't think you can expect, you know, to make
(41:13):
a whole bunch of tic tac toe plays. You've got
to get greasy and you've got to get pucks to
the net. That's just the way it's going to be.
So I would expect that type of game, and you
know you have to stay patient in that and you know,
not come out of character or take too many risks
because that's what teams like us and teams like them
are looking for. And then you know you want to
(41:35):
transition and you know, take advantage of those opportunities. So
be a very very very very heavy challenging hockey game tonight.
Speaker 3 (41:45):
It's the dads and Mentors' trips, So an opportunity for
the players to show their their dads, their mentors, their uncles,
whoever may be, that all of those six am drive
to the rink, we're worth it. At one point, what
does a trip like this mean for the players? You
yourself as a father, you know, all of that that
goes into showing that appreciation for the men who helped
(42:06):
get these guys to where they are now.
Speaker 9 (42:08):
Well, that's it, right, Like nobody would be here without
you know, their dads, and you know, some of those
that don't have you know, their dads with them anymore,
they have mentors and you know, so it's an honor.
I think it's it's honoring them and you know, it's
(42:28):
a nice way to include them in their sons' lives
and the daily happenings of their lives. You know, we
play in the National Hockey League. It's a privilege. It's
the best league in the world and we get treated
very very well. So it's nice for the dads and
mentors to come and be able to experience that. You know,
(42:48):
in the LA King's mothers are on this trip too,
so it's just everyone involved. It's really nice to be
able to, I guess quote unquote give back, but really
showed an appreciation for all the sacrifices that they've made
for our guys to be here.
Speaker 5 (43:02):
And that's why it makes this week extra special. That's
a coach, Lane Lambert, stay tuned your lineup start next.
