Speaker 3 (00:26):
Eighty one down, just one to go.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
The sun is setting on the fourth season of Seattle
Crackett Hockey, with the home team looking to go under
the off season on a high note. There have certainly
been peaks and valleys this year, and despite the end
results not being what the team expected or envisioned, there
are still great strides having been made in a variety
of areas and the future is certainly a bright one.
(00:52):
With the National Hockey League's thirty second franchise. Tonight, Seattle
wraps up the regular season against the La Kings, looking
for a third win in a row against the Kings,
who are coming off of a dominant performance last night
against the Edmondson Oilers for the final time this season,
good evening. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome inside of Climate Fledge
Arena alongside Alconiski.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
I am Everett Fitzi.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
We are thrilled to have you back with us for
the eighty second and final game of the season. You
were listening to the pregame show served up by Frost
through course Light on the Emiro Queen Casino Kraken Audio Network.
Al I said, it not the way that this team
envisioned or saw the season going, but still a lot
to be proud of when you see the strides made
(01:36):
by Shane Wright, Joey Decord, Matt Evanier's Riker Evans blossoming
into an every day NHL defenseman, Jared McCann his third
consecutive sixty points season, Jaydon Schwartz now second goals goals
in his NHL career with the second twenty five goal season.
There may have been more valleys than peaks, but the peaks.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Were certainly hot. Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
You know Shane right, he's on the edge of twenty
goals season. He's looking at forty five points if you
can pick up an assist here tonight as well. And
you know Rayker Evans you talked about his physical game
has taken off this season.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
He's a force to be reckoned with back.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
There, Joey decord, he's gonna end up playing fifty seven
games starting tonight with the eighty second game. He's looked
great this season. And I agree Jared mccannon, another sixty
puss points season. He had that dip during the season,
but gosh, he sure picked it up since then.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
And speaking of the future, delle Otoveiden will make his
NHL debut.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Here's and I had for the Seattle crack in.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
The Big six five two ten defense been out of Ulu, Finland.
He is the eighth draft pick of the Seattle Kracken
to make his NHL debut this year in Coachella Valley.
He's got fifteen points across sixty six games, but last
year in his first full North American Pro season, thirty
four points from the.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Blue line in seventy contest. Absolutely, he'll wear number forty
six out there tonight. We believe he'll be on the
pairing with Raker Evans Mahura out tonight. But you know
he's gonna chance here to show with the coaching staff
what he can do back on the blue line. As
you said, you've got that big frame, two tens light
for a guy that's that tall, which means to me
he's just gonna put on muscle and become an even
(03:10):
tougher opponent.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
I was gonna say that that is ahl first two
years of North America to ten. That'll bulk up to
about two fifteen to twenty on that NHL diet plan.
On the other side of the red line, this is
an LA Kings team sixteen to four and.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Zero in their last twenty games.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
One of those four has come to the Seattle Cracking
last week. They've allowed two or fewer goals fifteen times
in those twenty and they are coming off of a
spirited five nothing win last night in Edmonton.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Yeah, second of a back to back tonight here against
the Kraken, And as you said, winning up with Edmonton
last night, they've got some guys under the lineup here
today as they look towards the playoff future.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Should be an interesting game from them.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
This game still matters for the Seattle Crack and you
want to go off into the off season on a
high note with an opportunity to win their third executive
game against the LA Kings. Down on the gorse Light

eighty two of eighty two is here, Mike Betting with you,
Glad You're with us. I'm back by the Corps light
landing in section twenty as a cracking record coming in
right now thirty five, forty and six point total at
seventy six the Kings, who have already locked up home
ice for the first round against Edmonton, they have two
games to go when they stand forty seven, twenty four
and nine point total at one hundred and three. Your
(07:45):
osby bet MGM the line with the Kings at minus
one fifteen, with the Cracking at minus one oh five,
and the over under is at five and a half. Well,
today is a game for lasting impressions and to set
the stage for the future. They'll play in game eighty
two the Cracking will and while there's not much enough
to play for but two points, there are pretty important
two points to give another pack crowd here something to
(08:08):
feel very good about, because right around the corner is
an offseason filled with potential and designed to put the
Kraken back on the tracks for the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
So it's fan Appreciation Night.
Speaker 14 (08:19):
Presented by Amazon in the building, giveaways and prizes galore
in the air before this one. A lot of chatter
and more importantly confirmed game planning here from CEO Todd
Leiwikie on what fans can expect, and we're gonna have
more on that coming in the first intermission, and a
lot of it on the good news side witho ticket prices,
a third Jersey roster building and much more. But this
(08:41):
final homestand wouldn't begin without a special treat that happened
back on Saturday.
Speaker 15 (08:47):
Crud Hour, a save to win it Jimmy Snuggeroo.
Speaker 16 (08:55):
For Saint Louis in his sixth to get algate stuggery.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Dere circle to the slot I can't.
Speaker 14 (09:10):
And that was a sweet treat indeed for Kraken fans
who saw this team battle all the way to the finish.
And it was a four to three winning a shootout
over Saint Louis where you could call it the duality
of hockey. The Kraken led one nothing for the first
two periods and then both teams combined for five goals
in the span of eight to forty seven in period three,
Shane Wright eventually tying things up at three, Philip Groupauer
(09:32):
stopping five of seven in the shootout, and the Kraken
putting a speed bump into the Blues playoff plans. That
spot still up in the air as of this morning,
and so that sets up this final matchup of the season.
The Kraken aaming to take three or four from the
Kings this year in a game where Los Angeles is
cruising in on fumes. They beat Edmonton five to nothing
last night up north, and the Kracking can guarantee a
(09:54):
record above five hundred at home if they get to
ot here for this evening. They stand right now of
eighteen seventeen and five plus also put a numerical stamp
on their direction since the trade deadline records at nine
to seven and two gold differential at plus three. So
signs of progress are starting to come around and where
the Crack and want to go here for the off season.
(10:15):
Here's Captain Jordan Eberley from this morning, who shared more
on leadership taking control.
Speaker 17 (10:20):
Yeah, I think we've done a good job of, you know,
trying to find a silver lining in where the season
was at that point. Obviously, get rid of two guys
or three guys, and you understand.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
That you're a bit of a seller.
Speaker 17 (10:33):
And I like the way that we've competed since then,
trying to build something and moving into next year. I
think that's kind of been the message as far as
not making this a waste and understanding that doesn't just
end here and pick up next year. So you know,
we still have another opportunity tonight to do that, and
you know, you go again. It's a good team and
the last chance to give our fans something.
Speaker 14 (10:53):
For our cracking story lines. Opening up with Villy Ontovine
and making his NHL debut the Crack and calling the
defenseman on an emergency basis. Monday, he was just out
here for his rookie solo lap and he'll wear number
forty six, bringing a super sized brand on the blue line,
a right shot six foot five, two hundred and twenty
five pound frame, becoming the ninth to suit up on
(11:16):
the Crack and Blue line this season and the fifth
from their draft class of twenty twenty one. This year,
he put up fifteen points in sixty six games for
AHL Coachella Valley. Second storyline, Jaydon Schwartz, coming off more
hardware nomination and just this morning the NHL announcing he's
the Cracking nominee for the King Clancy Award, and this
one's for humanitarian and community work.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
He right now leads the.
Speaker 14 (11:38):
Krack and by the way, twenty five goals, that's his
most for one season in ten years. One more goal
makes it his second most for one campaign. And Swart's
also going to play in Game eighty one, which will
be a new career high for him across fourteen seasons
in the NHL. And finally, more Kraken nearing milestones. Jared
McCann three points shy of four hundred in his NHL career,
(12:01):
Matty Vanier's one goal shy up twenty for the second
time in his career, Shane Wright one goal short of
twenty in his first full NHL season. By the way,
Adam Marson back on the blue line, one more goal
needs eight that will match this career high set first
two seasons in Crack in history. And let's hear more.
Our fan appreciation Night is of course about the fans,
and Everly went back four years to share on what
(12:23):
they mean to him.
Speaker 16 (12:24):
They've been amazing.
Speaker 17 (12:25):
I think I look back to even year one obviously,
when you know we didn't win a lot of games
that year, and you know they were there every single night,
you know, brought in and obviously the next year and the
next year, next year. You know, the last couple of years,
things haven't gone the way we've wanted and they've still
stuck behind us. So you know, that was the one
thing coming into this, the expansion Draft that I knew
(12:46):
as far as the sports fans that we have in Seattle,
from the Mariners to the Seahawks, myself being a Seahawks
fan before this, I know that they're passionate about their
sports and you know, I've grown to see it and
it's k Obviously we really appreciate it.

for Children's Hospital. Thanks to HARCH, a pre game show
(16:17):
served up by Frostbrew, cors Light, juice, Chill. Mike Benton
with you here for the crack in season finale, in
time to take a look at the Kings, and it
might have a different field tonight and not exactly a
lineup that you would expect for say, opening night or
the Stanley Cup playoffs. And the reasons are pretty firm.
The Kings know their destiny, that's the playoffs. They know
who they'll play, that's Edmonton in Round one, and they
(16:40):
know who's got home ie advantage. It's in Los Angeles
for Game one. So after a five nothing win last
night in Edmonton, the only certain thing by this afternoon
was goaltending. David Riddick will start, and he had bullpen
time last night elsewhere in the game that got ugly.
Quent and Byfield took a cross check from Darnell Nurse
and left with an upper body ailment. He'll likely be
out this evening. Drew Downy going through load management on
(17:02):
his ankle. We'll confirm if he's in or out soon.
Caleb Jones also emergency recall for the back end. We'll
keep an eye on him as things progress, getting closer
to toward puck drop. And the reason why the Kings
are going to the postseason. It's goaltending, defense and home
ice as well. Goals against second best in the NHL PK,
third best in the NHL. Homan road record though like
(17:24):
Night and Day at home thirty one, five and four
and on the road just sixteen, nineteen and five. But
Darcy Kemper backing them up third best say percentage in
the league, the backup in David Riddick right at about
league average below that roughly at eight nine to one.
And Kings have one game after this to close things out.
That's at home Thursday against the Flames. So they move
(17:46):
on for our storylines, beginning with another record in their sights.
And they come in with forty seven wins, ty for
second most and franchise history one more and they tie
the all time marks set by the Kings of nine
years ago in twenty fifteen sixteen and they had forty eight.
So can the Crack and slow them down enough here
in the second game of LA's back to back, And secondly,
David Riddick also going to be in net against the
(18:08):
Krack in three and one and four matchups nine two
to three say percentage and the cracking trying to dish
payback after he beat them back in Los Angeles on
November twenty third, when he had nineteen saves on twenty shots.
Last time the Kraken beat Riddick, he was a Winnipeg
Jet that was two seasons to go back in December
eighteenth when he have thirty one saves on thirty four shots,
(18:28):
a cracking one three to two. Let's hear more from
the Kings that coach Jim Hiller felt pretty satisfied last
night where the Kings are at after they were winning Edmonton.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Yeah, I mean it's it feels good.
Speaker 13 (18:38):
I mean, these guys have battled.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
I remember, you know, getting together and.
Speaker 4 (18:43):
Talking about some things, making some changes, and they battled
pretty hard.
Speaker 19 (18:48):
The part that I like is they battled this hard.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
I think they got more in them. So that's the
most important part of the night.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
Want to go out on a high note. They want
to have some positive.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
Vibes going into the summertime.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
How can they get that done to well?
Speaker 4 (21:53):
First of all, you have to prioritize effort over outcome.
Of course, you want to win the game, but you
and you always do. But putting on a display of
a never quit effort, a never back down mentality, is
more important tonight. Showing these fans the kind of game
the crack And want to play, not just tonight but
all season long next year, is.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Considered a win to meet tonight.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
Secondly, the stars need to shine Tonight is the last
opportunity this season to show what the future is all about,
and it's these Cracking stars shining brightly. I'm talking about
guys like Joey Deacoor, Jere McCann, Brandon Montour, Jayden Schwartz Channer,
Steven Sinetti, Venier, Shane Ray Coppocaco and it's done. Of course,
They're all stars in my book. If the stars shine tonight,
(22:33):
everything else will take care of itself. And then third,
send a message to these kings. This game might not
mean anything from a playoff perspective for the Cracket, but
it does mean something from a divisional rivalry standpoint. This
will be the last time you see this LA team
this season, but you will face them many more times
in the future. Play them hard, play them fast, and
(22:53):
let them know a win tonight is still important to
you as a team and you're not.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Gonna let them feel comfortable in this building. Well.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
Those are the final keys of the season, and if
executed properly, the Cracker will head into the offseason with
the right message on the ice, on the bench, in
the locker room to these fantastic fans.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
If the Cracking can prioritize effort over outcome.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Let the Stars shine and send a message to these
Kings they head into the offseason with one final win
of the season, and give these fans a show that
they're gonna miss.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
All summer long.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
We talked in the Oldpen about all the strides that
have been taken this year.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
The bright spots, Shane.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Wright, Joey the Cord, Matt e Venier's improving as the
year went on, Ryker Evans's Dan Biles Musset turning into
it every day NHL. Are big steps made by some
important players, and it seems like now more than ever,
the core of this group is taking shape.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
It absolutely is.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
And when I was putting that list together about the shines,
I was like, but the stars, I was like, well, wait, await,
what about this guy?
Speaker 3 (23:49):
What about this guy?
Speaker 4 (23:50):
There have been so many bright spots to this season
and guys that have either from the start sean brightly,
but also you think about a guy like Coppococo coming
in in December and not just the impact he made individually,
but the impact he made the bat Matty Benier's game,
and that made Matty star shine the little brighter. So
it's a it's a great core and it's a big
core that is all coming in.
Speaker 14 (24:11):

I don't say that in jest. He has worked tirelessly
to help build the Crack and Audio Network to what
it is. We would not be here without Mike Benton.

Kraken King's coming up here for the final time this
season as well. Right now here is that coach Dan
Bilesma standing by with ever refits you.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
Thank you Mike Yes for the final time with krakenhead
coach Dan Bilsma. We've talked so much about games this season,
what went right? What went wrong? I want to use
our last conversation as kind of a state of the union,
if you will. And when you look back on your
first season behind the bench of the Seattle Kraken, what
are you going to take from this year, whether it
(27:45):
be professionally for you, personally or collectively with this group.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
Wow, the state of the union? I want.
Speaker 24 (27:53):
I don't have my speech in front of me on
the state of the Union, but I think you know,
I going into the season, you know, wanted to grow
into a team that was a team, a consistent team,
and how we want to play consistent team and our effort,
(28:14):
consistent team and our you know, you know what you
could expect from the Seattle Crack and on each and
every night, and you know, the evaluation of the state
of the union.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
We didn't achieve that.
Speaker 24 (28:27):
I can look at the record to say that, but
I think you know, too many conversations between the two
of us have been about the inconsistencies in that regard, and.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
You know, I take a lot of.
Speaker 24 (28:47):
Pride in in the last nineteen games, and I know
the group does as well. And we you know, we
obviously addressed where we're at at the deadline, and that
wasn't the picture we all wanted to be, but we
didn't want to play out the last nineteen games with
that being the story of our team. And I think
(29:09):
the guys have taken a great deal of pride and
put a lot of energy into being a consistent, competing,
hard team to play against and knowing what you're going
to get when you play the Seattle Craken in those
last nineteen games, and I think you've seen a lot
of growth and our team in that regard, and that
(29:32):
is something that all of us are going to take
positive into the summertime and be a little more determined
coming back to camp next year to bring that.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
For eighty two, there.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Have been a lot of really strong individual performances and
areas of growth. You look at Shane Wright, Joey decord
Yannie Newman, Kappol Coco, the list goes on and on.
Where are some of those other peaks that you found
this season from an individual level about guys getting to
that next point in their NHL careers.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Matt e Veniers.
Speaker 24 (30:03):
I think a lot of growth and you know, coming
off a year of which was maybe disappointing for him,
and have expectations for where he could go as a and.
Speaker 14 (30:18):
More of that conversation on growth, plus more of the
state of the Union as well. That's Dan bilesmat and
that conversation up right now on the Crack and Audio
Network via the iHeartRadio app. Lineups are next. You're listening
to the Emerald Queen Casino crack An Audio Network.
