from PPG Pains Arena, the Seattle Cracking Today take on
the Pittsburgh Penguins and we are thirty one minutes away
from puck drop against Pittsburgh. So you know what else
is just about thirty minutes away from us? Well, that
would be SnO Qualme Casino and Hotel. Visit Seattle's close
to sportsbook and bet three ways on the Kraken ticket

(01:05):
windows on site, Kiosk or my favorite lien Kualmi Casino
mobile app. Today we are lying from thirty two bar
and Grilla Kraken Jason Marshwick right now for business. Come
on down and join us right now. Tables are still
open for the Kraken coming in for game three of
the road trip of the record of ten to five
and five, two points out of first place in the

(01:27):
Pacific Division. The Penguins no slounge either here heading toward
the quarter pole checkpoint of the season. They're ten six
and four twenty four points on the year as well,
also finishing their second game of back to back right now,
coming back from the NHL Global Series in Sweden, and
the Kraken trying to improve in a record right now

(01:48):
of six and two all time. They've held the upper
hand very much in this series over Pittsburgh, including three
wins in four games livetime at PPG Paints Arena. Well,
this is about another stop as far as opponents right
now with a surprising start, and that would be Pittsburgh
here in a game that features a reborn team but

(02:09):
still pretty much inclusive of veterans that are leading the
charge as of this point and their defense as far
as the Kraken in Pittsburgh. They've ruled them recently three times.
They held Pittsburgh to two goals or less in all
three wins, and for this evening, a chance here to
really knock over the Penguins are a little bit topsy
turvy right now at the moment. Pittsburgh came back, of

(02:31):
course from their Sweden trip, splitting two games with Nashville,
but lost five nothing in a clunker last night against Minnesota,
their first of a home back to back situation. In
this evening, it'll be their second back to back, including
that they lost in their first occasion three to two
in overtime against Philadelphia. The Kraken got a look here

(02:51):
at first period is essentially to take advantage they They
have begun slow, but have picked up their game late
into period two and period three as well, and you
go back and track their first period goal differential, it
is not very impressive minus sight that's second lowess and
the NHL. But the cracking right now facing a team

(03:12):
in the second of back to back situations where they're
trying to take advantage here, that record is at two
eight and two against teams facing their second leg of
back to back, So the cracking trying to improve on
that benchmark. Two nights ago in Chicago. Here's a flashback
where the Kraken found a way out of an early hole.
With time running.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Out, Bason Marshmitt far point Evans walking into the middle
back hands it off to Marshmitt. Now Montour takes his
turt Montour left circle Montor back to two.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Tighten sworts on the power play Kids the cracking a
three to two lead to eighteen to play.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
In the third well.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
It starts with Mason marks from up top, finding Montour
jumping down the wall. Montur's he can shot the whole time,
but he sees seventeen on the back door where he
loves to hang out.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
He puts it right onto his tape in the back
of the net. Crack at three Chicago two.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Well the crack and certainly bucking a trend as far
as starting out late. But yet they found a way
to win once again when trying to mount a comeback
three to two. Their victory over Chicago was finished off by
Jaden Sward scoring with two minutes and eighteen seconds left
in regulation on the power play, But the timeline of
events was certainly crazy.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
When you go back and think of it. It was
a chain reaction.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
First off, Connor Bodard had a breakaway, Ryan lind Grinn
hustling back, broke it up on a clean play. It
was stick on contact at first there was no penalty,
but Dart took exception, then was issued an abuse of
officials penalty, giving the crack in the power play, and
what you know, they cashed in and that was the
eventual game winning goal that you just heard. But all

(04:55):
a part of this, the crack and shut down. Chicago
in period three outscored them, of course three nothing with
three unanswered goals, but also out shot the black Hawks
twelve three in that process. Nonetheless, there was always a
way to get better, right Well in this case is
Brandon Montour, who had two assists in period three, saying

(05:15):
for the krakend it begins from a slow start in
period one.

Speaker 7 (05:19):
Yeah, I think that's not idea. There's been obviously a
few like you like our compete right to the end,
but you don't want to be put in that situation.
But again, we got to wain. We try to clean
up some stuff early on and not try to get
behind the eight ball. And you know, this is a
good test again and.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
As far as Lindgren is concerned, he deserves a lot
of credit for his defensive game. He had a jarring
hit on Andre Borakowski earlier in the contest, then that
breakup on Baguard's breakaway. Montour plays alongside him as a
defensive pair and they know their roles together. As far
as these words here for Montour.

Speaker 7 (05:54):
The big thing for both of us defensively is we
compete hard, We close quick, and we were very competitive
in our own and play physical and that just helps
us transition. I think you'd see, like I said, we
get the pucks quick and try to get get our
fords going as quick as you can. And you know,
again it's sometimes it's tough to you know, generate offense.
But I think we do a good job communicating and

(06:16):
helping each other in the de zone.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Cracking story lines first up begin in net with Philip
Grubauer getting the start, and he's looked pretty good against
the Penguins throughout his career for one and two record
nine ten say percent and janned looking for his third
consecutive win as well in this series. Also overall, aiming
for his fourth straight win last time out was very
impressive nineteen saves on nineteen shots against San Jose in

(06:41):
relief of Matt Murray back in the fifteenth of November.
Here's Montor on the state of the Crack and goaltending
these days, with Matt Murray out but Joey to Courd
and Philip Grubauer still pretty much holding strong right now
in this mix.

Speaker 7 (06:54):
Joe when he was out, the other boys there grew
and Murder played well. But you know, anybody in that
we have the confidence, you know, to help them. And
obviously different goalies. Joe likes to play the fuck a
little bit more, so you gotta kind of react a
little bit. But again, you know, we got all confidence
in all three of those goalies each night, and that's
what you need.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Second story line is a first period start the Krack
and only leading after one period three times first twenty games.
That's lowest right now in the NHL. But when they
lead or are tied after one, their record is nine
to one and one, and they're facing a Pittsburgh team
that hasn't fared much better in this situation, leading only
six times after period one in twenty games. Third storyline,

(07:36):
top line effect Mounty Vanier's Saidery, Mason Marchmint and Jordan
Everley Vanier's trying to get out of a slump. No
goals last eight games, march Mint no goals since opening night,
but together they have been threatening as well as far
as trying to translate that into execution. Since that line
was put together, they own top three numbers as far

(07:56):
as shot attempts at five on five on the Crack
inside which fuels into Lane Lambert and what he wants,
as far as shooting the puck, Well, come back in
a bit and take a look at Pittsburgh. After this,
you're listening to the Global Credit Union Crack and Audio Network.

Cracking and Penguins going at it in about twenty one minutes,
and time to ask where are the odds? Brought to
you by Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling and your odds
courtesy bet MGM. The line with Pittsburgh at minus one
twenty and the over under is six. Mike betting with
you back at thirty two Bar and grill and as
far as look at Pittsburgh is a similar matchup compared

(10:34):
to Thursday, where we asked this question for the opponent,
how real are they? Well at the top it is
familiar faces leading the way right here no matter where
they play racing in was you going a coping in
trying to set it deep?

Speaker 5 (10:49):
Now rust up, there's a shot for the half boards,
another redirection.

Speaker 10 (10:54):
They score Crosby from the far circle and the big
boys if shining today.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Early on it's three nothing, Penguins seven to go in
the first Joe Brand had that call on one oh
five nine the X in Pittsburgh and the Penguins doing
damage in the Global series, eventually splitting it with Nashville.
They won their last game of that trip for nothing,
which is two games in twelve days. All around the tour. Crosby,

(11:22):
Balkin and crys La Tang combined for four points and
three goals in that spin. But coming back home it
was a bit of a clunker. They lost five nothing
to the Wild last night. Pittsburgh had twenty two giveaways,
out hit twenty to nine and were down by three
to nothing at the end of the first period, where
eventually they were shut out for the first time all season.
That led to head coach Dan Mues sharing more after

(11:43):
the game, where it was not so much on goaltending,
he said, but more of play in front of his
own goaltenders.

Speaker 13 (11:50):
The chances against it, we let up. You know, it
shouldn't have happened, and so you know, sometimes two. You're
also looking to make a change because you know, just
things aren't going you need something that maybe you're you're
hoping we'll give a little bit of a spark. We
made the change. He's already has been really strong for
us throughout the course of the year. Yeah, it's unfortunate

(12:10):
that we go into the first period there and then
we give up the type of quality again, so that
we did so, but but again, you know, and I
think it is something he'd one back. It's it was
it was everybody. Everybody's included, and a loss like that,
I think it's across the board. Myself included.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
That was in reference to Archer she loves, who had
four goals on ten shots allowed Sergei murashav releaving him
one goal on eleven shots. But the Penguins still dangerous
and the power play this year, and you got to
stay out of the box. They own the league's best
unit at thirty two percent. Penguin story lines first off
their top two lines and keeping two legends in Sydney
Crosby and up getting Maulkin in check. Crosby in particular,

(12:51):
averaging over a point per game in his career in
games following a loss. Second story line, You're starting goalie
a Sergei Murrashav recent call with Tristan Jerry on IR.
He's been impressive so far and his last win was
his first of his NHL career, a shutout in the
Global Series, and he'll be in net here for Pittsburgh

We're back inside of PPG Pets Arena here at Pittsburgh.
Ever fits you Alconiski alongside Game three on this four
game road trip for Seattle against the Pittsburgh Penguins, trying
to improve on that three to two come from behind
when on Thursday in Chicago, to not get themselves in
another situation where they have to come back from a
two to nothing deficit in the third period. Pittsburgh played

(16:06):
last night, they are a wee bit ticked off, and
you have to take that into account. What do the
Kraken have to do here tonight's you continue climbing the standings.

Speaker 6 (16:14):
Well, first of all, I think you have to set
the physical tone early. Pittsburgh hates getting bullied on whole mice,
so the Krack you need to introduce themselves with some
perfectly legal, spiritually demoralizing hits. Finish every check, make every
battle of chore, and let the Pens know it's going
to be a long night. If they start looking over
their shoulders, it's working. Secondly, dominate below the goal line.

(16:35):
The Penguins get wobbly when forced to defend extended shifts
in their own end, especially in the second with that
long change cycle. The puck spin off checks and wear
out their defense until they start making bad decisions. Good
things happen when the Krack can own the trenches and
then third, quick clean zone exits. Pittsburgh feasts on sloppy clears,

(16:55):
so the Krack you need to make smart choices under pressure.
Support the puck, use the middle when it's open, and
avoid blind flips. Get out clean, get up ice, and
tilt the momentum with controlled transitions. Efficiency beats chaos here
and then in some hit them early, grind them late,
and don't give rap turnovers like it's a penguin Christmas.
If the Kracking can control the physical game, own the loyce,

(17:18):
and escape the zone with clean first passes, Pittsburgh will
be gasping for air and wondering who invited the Sea
monsters do that, and still city melts nicely into a
crack and win.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
You know a lot of folks that will tell you
that playing against a team in game two of a
back to back should be easy. You're the fresher team
they played last night. But for Seattle, they're two eight
and two since last season against teams on the second
leg of a back to back. So I mean, it's
not always a gimme guaranteed with this Cracking team. And

(17:50):
I think that we're gonna go back to the well
of what Laine Lamber's been saying, you have to shoot
the buck more. Last night our last game out rather
the Cracking out shooting Chicago by a twelve three march
in the third period, but it was twenty one to
fifteen through the first forty minutes.

Speaker 6 (18:05):
Yeah, absolutely, and you know you are facing a team
that's in their second one back to back. But you
said it yourself, they're probably a little angry. They're probably
coming to this game a little bit angry. They've got
the best power play in the league. I didn't include
stand out of the box and said as a key,
but you can throw that in there as well. But
the krack can have some success against this Penguins team.
They're three to one to zero against them, tied for

(18:26):
their best road record in this building. So coming into
the game with that confidence knowing they played last night,
as long as you don't overplay that hand cracking should
be able to come up with a win.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
And for the Pittsburgh Penguins anytime you come into this building.
Sidney Crosby, Guinea, Malcolm Chris Letang, they've been together forever
as a trio and you cannot lose sight of them
on the ice. But what we're seeing from those three
guys is still special, especially at this point in their careers.

Speaker 6 (18:53):
Yeah. Absolutely, those especially Crosby and Malcolm, they've connected so
many times. They've got more points in the first twenty
games for guys that are thirty eight and older than
anybody else in the history of the NHL, So say
what you want about their age. We got a couple
of gold guys on the cracking side that are leading
as well. Both both both every and Schwartz continue to

(19:14):
get it done on the cracket side. There's no reason
why Crosby and Moucolm can't get it done on their side.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
So the old guys are leading the penguins. The old
guys are leading the cracket. You know the old guy
that leads us, his name is Mike. Then he's back
in Seattle. He's standing by. Of course, that pregame show

They're only visit into Pittsburgh about nine minutes away. Right now,
back to PPG Paines Arena We go with Everett Fitz
You standing bying with head coach Lane Lambert.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Thanks Mike with Lane Lambert looking at tonight. The Pittsburgh
Penguins got off to a pretty hot start. They've cooled
down a little bit after a five nothing lost here
at home last night. Anytime you have Crosby and malk
It on the ice and the tang on the ice,
you know it's going to be a dangerous team. What
do they present to this group and the cracking are
gonna have to overcome this evening?

Speaker 20 (22:32):
Well, they you know, they've got speed, They play fast,
they play north, they try and stretch out and at
the end of the day, they don't need a lot
of opportunities to hurt you. You know, I didn't look
this morning, but you know there's well over two thousand
points between two of them, and you know, it's just

(22:56):
a situation where they're coming off of five nothing loss.
You know, they came back from you know, from the
Global Series time change, all that first came back. I
expect them to be a lot better than they were
last night, and we're gonna have to be good. We're
gonna have to stay above them, keep them off the
score sheet as best we possibly can, and stay out

(23:18):
of the penalty box. Their power play is first in
the league over thirty percent. There's just so many weapons
there that it's hard. It's hard to pick which one
to take away.

Speaker 4 (23:28):
The defensive structure never changes from team the team. But
this team, the crackt, I mean, have had an ability
to shut down the badards, the McDavid's, the top players
in this league. What is it about this group that
sometimes can render these superstar players ineffective? And what do
they have to do here tonight to do the same

(23:48):
thing for a Crosby.

Speaker 20 (23:49):
And for a balcon Well, you know, you've got to
give credit to the team for embracing the structure of
what we're doing first and foremost. And then you know,
when you're planning against those types of players, you've got
to have the right people on the ice as best
you possibly can. Give Chandler Stevenson a lot of credit.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
So the crack und trying to apply that structure for
another shutdown effort against a big challenge against the likes
of Crosby and Malkin and the Pittsburgh Penguins. That's head
coach Lane Lambert. Your lineup startin next. You're listening to
the Global Credit Union Crack and Audio Network.
