Fob play a five of six point effort last week
at Homeless, Seattle, Kraken hit the road with their offense
starting to find it strive after a season high five
goal performance on Thursday. Eight different players found the score
sheet on Saturday against San Jose, including multipoint efforts from
James Schwartz, Chandler Stevenson and Jamie Alexiak on their way
(00:43):
to a four to one win over the Sharks.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Tonight, the Kraken begin.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
A four game homes four game road trip back east
in the home of fast cars and timeless Tunes, Detroit, Michigan,
to take on a Red Wings team that has cooled
off a bit after a red hot start. Good afternoon,

Light Choose Chill Our nine goals for Seattle over their
last two games, following a four to one victory over
San Jose, A pair of goals in that contest for
Jaden Schwartz to assist each for Chandler Stevenson and Jamie Alexiak.
(01:30):
After only getting one goal in three of their previous
four games, the Kraken have gotten nine goals in their
last two.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
Yeah, you heard coach Lane Lambert talk about that a
little bit, and sometimes the bat pucks bounce your way
and sometimes they don't. He doesn't feel like they're doing
anything differently, but this team is definitely prioritizing getting pucks
to the net as soon as they're getting across that
offensive Blu line.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Goaltending continuing to be an area a topic of conversation
for the Seattle Kraken. On the positive side, Joey Decord
back in the lineup after missing the last four games.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
He will get the start here tonight for the Kraken.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
On the other side of that coin, Matt Murray announced
today he will be sidelined for.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Six weeks with a lower body injury.
Speaker 5 (02:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
I mean, this is where having three goaltenders on your
roster pays off a little bit. That you've got the
ability to have three guys that are playing their best
hockey right now. Philip Grubauer coming off of the game
Saturday night with the win, and you know, if Joey
was not coming back, I guarantee you he'd be in
the net tonight. But with Joey Decord coming back, they're
gonna give it the net back to him and I'm
(02:32):
looking forward to seeing how he responds.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
On the other side of the red line, this is
a Detroit Red Wings team that has six to six
and one in their last thirteen games after starting five
to one to zero. They've only scored four or more
goals just five times in their last thirteen games, so
the Red Wings have cooled off a little bit. They
still sit second place in a very crowded Atlantic Division,
(02:54):
but for them, the power play in that top line
are gonna be two areas where a Kraken are gonna
have to mine their p's and QYS Tonight, Yeah, Crack Ahead.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
Six gave up six power plays to San Jos aviather
Night went five for six on their penalty kills, so
good that they weren't hurt dot bad. But you can't
give this Red Wings team six power play opportunities. Just
too many guys that could hurt sho out there, Alex
brink At one of them six power play goals on
the season so far, including one on Sunday.
Speaker 3 (03:20):

Glad and you can hang out with us. The Kraken
coming in right now a record of nine four and
five twenty three points and two points out of first
place in the Pacific Division, opening up their four game
road trip, facing a Red Wing team eleven seven to
one twenty three points in opening up a three game
homestand on their side with a Kraken aiming to improve
(07:06):
on a four to one and three head to head
record and end a three game winless skit head to
head against the Red Wings. Well, this savening. It's all
about taking a prove it show on the road, and
this run so far out of the gate has a
Kracking with twenty three points in eighteen games, that matching
their best start in franchise history at this point, coming
off a two to zero to one homestand in that
(07:28):
homestand finale on Saturday, the Kraken using veteran power to
take a bite out of the Sharks.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
Now celebrity, they'll shoot that one block gets front out
of larsit down to one meat.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Ryan Lingert slaps it up to the board Seattle toward the FDA.
Speaker 11 (07:52):
Sadan Schwartz has got two and the Seattle Crackhead go
up four one with three twenty nine to play in regulation.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Well, there's that hard work I talked about. This time
it's Ryan Lingard in the corner.
Speaker 10 (08:07):
Going to battle Kracking, knocking off San Jose for one,
dishing some payback after losing six to one in the
same place earlier this month. With Jaden Schwartz getting a
two Gold Night now tight for first on the kracking
with seven goals with Jordan Ebery. And by the way,
when Jaden Schwartz scores more than a goal, the Kraken
are as good as Gold eight and oh their record.
(08:29):
When Schwartz has now a multi goal game and has
everetten Out talked about the goalie carousels spinning once again.
First meeting with the Sharks, of course, there was a
goalie change because the Sharks were piling up the offense
this time. Last meeting, the injury bug taking a bite
out of the Krack and once again Matt Murray leaving
in period one due to injury. The Philip Grubauer coming
(08:49):
in nineteen saves on nineteen shots, and the Kracking getting
the best out of him when they needed him the most.
Grubauer and their penalty killed getting the Kracking out of trouble.
San josego in one of six on the man advantage
and zero for three in period three. So in the
injury up Dat's side, still some moving parts. Joey Decordzoff
(09:09):
I are near to the shelf of choruses. Matt Murray
hill miss six weeks lower body ailment, Coppocaco still week
to week, and Jared McCann yet is on the trip here.
That's a good sign on the Kraken side against the
Red Wings. It's the first of two meetings. Detroit's coming
out to Seattle this next month, and the Krack and
as we said, trying to end a three game winless
skid in the series that's been a very tight one
(09:32):
in franchise history. Both teams four wins apiece five of
eight meetings needing overtime, and the crack in two and
one against Detroit not zero to two in the shootout
power plays, though heavy advantage here to the Red Wings
despite both teams fair and pretty well. The Kraken six
to twenty five not too shabby, but with the Red
Wings ten of twenty six in this series all time
(09:55):
thirty eight percent, that is a lights out advantage. We're
gonna talk about later on on cracking story lines. First off,
begin with Joey Decord. He's back off ir He'll start
anette most in the previous five games upper body ailment.
He's though three to one and two last six appearances
and trying to make good here in his fifth career
appearance against the Red Wings and looking for his first
(10:17):
win against him head to head since twenty twenty three
twenty four. Second storyline, big night here for Lane Lambert.
Can the Kraken get their head coach? He'll win on
his birthday. He's also back where he used to play
three seasons in Detroit as a center back in the
mid eighties, where he was also roommates with a young
Steve Isserman. Last time he coached the game, by the way,
(10:38):
on his birthday, he won with the New York Islanders.
They beat Calgary five to four in a shootout two
seasons ago. And finally, the third key, our third story line,
staying out of the box. The Kraken down a man
thirteen times, last three games with a penalty kill, getting
worn out lately. Yet they were good against San Jose,
but have gone through a string of six straight games
(11:00):
allowing a power play goal, longest in the NHL this season,
and they're facing a deadly Detroit team that's picking up
some steam and the power play last three games going
four for fourteen.
Speaker 12 (11:11):
Let's hear more from the Kraken.
Speaker 10 (11:12):
Freddy Goodreau came back last game and at the Krack
A need the penalty kill. Well, they'll need him too,
when he said against San Jose, the Kraken as a
four man unit felt more connected.
Speaker 13 (11:24):
It's adjustments, for sure. Every time. Every day you're trying
to get better, trying to tweak stuff. There's a that
goal we gave up, there is you know it's again
it's just adjustment, learning from it and that's all you
got to keep moving forward with everything basically, but especially
with the peaking well.
Speaker 10 (11:40):
The Kraken have been sputtering to score goals much of
this season. They have scored nine in the last two games,
and yet the twenty seven goals have allowed a five
on five, second lowest allowed in the NHL, and Vince
Dunn said it's made a difference with how he and
Adam Larson played together.
Speaker 14 (11:57):
Just simple is better in our own end. For me
at least, it slows the game down for me, and
I think we're just giving up a lot less great
A chances than we ever have, and when that comes
usually a lot a lot less panic happens, and guys
feel good to be able to make plays coming out
of the D zone. And then when you're doing that,
you're controlling the puck and transitioning into the offensive zone.
So I think for the both of us, we like
(12:19):
a calm, collective D zone and keeps us on us
back there and creates less frustration between me and him
and and then between us and the four.
Speaker 10 (12:28):
Simple A is better. It's gotten the crack in this
far and done said for tonight, it's all about putting
the spike strip on the wing wheel.
Speaker 14 (12:36):
Slot chances and rush chances. That's what our two keys
of the defensive game are going to be tonight. They're
very good off the rush, very dynamic. Their d like
to be the fourth and fifth man in the attack.
So just slowing down and making sure we're not getting
beat up the ice and then in the d zone,
making sure we're in the good areas of the game,
and we watch a lot of video and seeing that
(12:56):
they're always looking inside to hit F three's and to
create those inside chances when the puck's along the wall
and are download cracking.
Speaker 10 (13:04):
Certainly facing their challenges here with the Red Wings offense.
We'll come back in a bit and talk about them
after this. You're listening to the Global Credit Union Crack
an audio.

Now for a look at the Red Wings, where the
iSER plan continues to move on, but yet it's growing
a ton of skill, an emerging core, and they're off
to a pretty threatening start right now, despite some ups
and downs recently that also includes an overtime lost to Buffalo,
but they beat the range of the Red Wings dead
of course, two to one back on Sunday, Lucas Raymond
(15:59):
game winning goal, end of the game, bench clearing Melee
a lot more clutch and grab, not many punches for that,
but yet Detroit coming back home with that win over
the Rangers and heading into this season.
Speaker 12 (16:11):
Their story, it's that core. It's their first.
Speaker 10 (16:14):
Season also underhead coach Tom McClellan, and a part of
that core it includes Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond, Alex To Brinkett,
maried Sider, Patrick Cain two and all those players on
point streaks of three games or more and together Larkin
to Brinket and Raymond eats hitting twenty points. They're one
of five teams to have three players at that plateau,
(16:35):
and it's the first time in fifteen years. By the way,
the Red Wings have three players in that range. Last
time they did that Pavel Don Suke, Henrik Zetterberg and
Nicholas Lidstrum back in twenty ten and eleven. Their power
play can be frightening right now fifteenth in the NHL,
but they have goals in each of the last three games,
going four of fourteen in that span, and the Krack
(16:57):
and Half found them to be a handful eight for sixteen.
Are the Red Wings in this head to head series
over the previous two years tougher out than any other
power play opponent in the NHL. On the Kraken side,
Red Wings story lines first up begin with containing Dylan Larkin.
He's off to one of the best starts of his
career eleven goals, twenty three points in nineteen games, best
(17:20):
for the Red Wings in this start since Mary and
Hosa back in eighth nine against the Krack, and He's
got twelve points in eight games lifetime. He's also one
point away from six hundred in his NHL career. Second
story line, containing Alex Dabrinkett coming off of NHL Second
Star of the Week honors. He's got five goals in
three games from this last week and he comes in
(17:42):
with a three game goal scoring streak. Let's hear more
and their head coach Tom McLelland said, the Kraken have
earned respect on his side for a pretty obvious reason.
Speaker 18 (17:53):
They check well, they don't give up much, and you
know they're willing to win two one or three two,
and uh they have enough firepower up front that they
can they'll sting you if they if they get gifts. Uh,
but there there's a tenacity to their team. I think
Lane's done an outstanding job of creating a tenacious identity
(18:17):
for their team and uh responsible checking identity too. So
you know he's been he's been good for their their
hockey club.
Speaker 10 (18:26):

Game one of a four game road trip for Seattle
began tonight and Detroit, Michigan Everitt Fitz, you Alkiniski back
along side Cracking coming off of a four to one
win on Saturday against San Jose. Another potently offensive team
here with some high hopes and expectations for the season
in the Deshroit Red Wings. Partner at Kraken want to
(21:34):
get this road trip kicked off on a high note.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Tell us how they can do that. Well, let's start
in the neutral zone. You've got to own the neutral zone.
The Wings love using their speed through that area, So
the Kracker need to gum it up with a Costco
sample line on Saturday, or, as Mike Benton said, put
the spike strip down on the wing wheel. Tight gaps
and smart sticks will turn the rushes into broken plays
that can create offense opportunities going the other way. Secondly,
(21:59):
pressure the defense early. Detroit's blue line can get rattle
if you hit them in waves, so the Kracker need
to fore check like they're first in line at Best
Buy on Black Friday when the door is open.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Force hurried clears.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
Jump on loose pucks and make their d think twice
about touching the puck. Chaos in detroit zone becomes comfort
in Seattle's and then third win the specialty battles. The
power play needs to snap it around with purpose, and
the penalty kill has to stay as stingy as Dad
at the theme park gift shop. Seattle's power play has
been struggling as of late and needs to be better tonight.
(22:32):
Detroit's man advantage can it can sting you if you
let it so. Discipline, plessure, pressure is key. Limit their opportunities,
and when you need to kill a penalty, keep the
box tight, keep the shots outside and let the goalies eat.
If the cracking can clog the middle, smash the Wings
defense like a pinata full of bad decisions, and win
the special team's matt test.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
They're golden.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
Lock down the details and Detroit will start playing the
Blues and Motown real quick. Do the opposite and Seattle
out there skating like they're searching for their car at
the airport parking lot on Thanksgiving weekend.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
I've done that best by run on back Friday. My
mom took me when I was like twelve. I remember
and I'll run it such a vivid memory.
Speaker 10 (23:17):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
The offense is woken up. Anyone who said this team
can't score, how about now? How do you like man Now?
Nine goals in their last two games. It's going to
be another tough test tonight here for Seattle. Uh what
do you make of the recent offensive searche in the
last six periods for Seattle?
Speaker 4 (23:34):
Yeah, I think it's the intensity to focus on putting
pucks to the net. It's the intensity on sometimes delaying
until you get traffic in front, finding rebounds, finding deflections.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
You know, I think of the Cocko goal before he
went out, great deflection on his part. I think that's
what's starting to click with this team. Yeah, they're gonna
get goals off the rush, and they want to they
want to look at those. But I think those greasy
goals are the sweet spot for this cracking team.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Joey decord back in net tonight for Seattle after missing
the last four games, and we talked a little bit
about Matt Murray and Philip Grubauer, how the defense has
to play in front of him.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
I'd have to imagine in order to help Joey.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Get that timing back, you're gonna need another strong defensive
effort at least to start for Seattle this evening.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
Listen with three goals in the roster. It kind of
feels like that way very often. You know, you had
Matt Murray forbid, you had Philip Grubber day, you go
Joey dor Decordy coming back. So it's not something that
you're doing anything unique for any one goaltender. Yeah, Joey
decorb plays the pucket a little bit more and that's helpful.
But I think you're right easy him back into this game.
Keep all the shots in the exterior. Nothing off the

coming up right now, ever, afits you standing by back

Speaker 3 (27:28):
Thanks Mike, Yes, we are here with the birthday Boy
who promised to talk to us only if I stop singing.
It's the centennial for the Red Wings here this season.
You've spent the bulk of your NHL career. You debuted
here in Detroit. You were roommates with Steve Weiserman back
in the day. What do you remember about your time
here in motown and again a team that you're very
(27:49):
familiar with as a player and as a coach now
coming up on one hundred years, just your memories of
Detroit and your thoughts on this organization that you played
a lot of your NHL career with.
Speaker 22 (28:00):
Yeah, well, I mean the organization is unbelievable. You know
when when we first came in or when I first
came in here as a young nineteen year old, you know,
it was it was a real eye opener, you know
where you know, there was more people at the at
the opening game, you know at Joe Louis Arena than
(28:21):
lived in my town in swift Kerransaskatchewan, so you know,
you grew up and it's kind of like a real
sort of a real I guess eye opener. And you know,
but I thought the management team ownership, you know, and
they had just taken over the year prior to me
and Eiserman coming here, they had a heck of a
(28:41):
draft in nineteen eighty three getting you know, Joey Kosher,
Bob Proverbs, Peter Klima, you know, guys that laid the
foundation for this hockey team for for years to come.
And we're integral parts of their Stanley Cups and so
the you know, the management hasn't and does a great
job here. And you know, my time here was fantastic.
(29:02):
You know, it was like I say, it was first
couple of years and the first three years in the
National Hockey League, and what more did you want as
a as a nineteen year old kid, you know, your
dream had come true and you just tried to do
your best every day.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
Between you and Steve Aiserman, who was the cleaner roommate,
who was the one that would clean up after themselves more.
Speaker 22 (29:21):
You know what, I got to tell you that I
think it was me, but I'll tell you that I'm
sure we were both horrendous, so you know, and I
look at my kids and go, like, you know, clean
up your room, you know, and why can't you be
cleaner than that? I'm pretty sure that I was no
better than that.
Speaker 10 (29:40):
Can you imagine the stories out of that living arrangement?
That's cracking aad coach, Lane Lambert and more of that
conversation up right now via the crack and Audio Network
