but for them, the power play in that top line
are gonna be two areas where a Kraken are gonna

this time. Last meeting, the injury bug taking a bite

the best out of him when they needed him the most.

worn out lately. Yet they were good against San Jose,
but have gone through a string of six straight games

allowing a power play goal, longest in the NHL this season,
and they're facing a deadly Detroit team that's picking up
some steam and the power play last three games going
four for fourteen.

Freddy Goodreau came back last game and at the Krack
A need the penalty kill. Well, they'll need him too,
when he said against San Jose, the Kraken as a
four man unit felt more connected.

It's adjustments, for sure. Every time. Every day you're trying
to get better, trying to tweak stuff. There's a that
goal we gave up, there is you know it's again
it's just adjustment, learning from it and that's all you
got to keep moving forward with everything basically, but especially
with the peaking well.

The Kraken have been sputtering to score goals much of
this season. They have scored nine in the last two games,
and yet the twenty seven goals have allowed a five
on five, second lowest allowed in the NHL, and Vince
Dunn said it's made a difference with how he and
Adam Larson played together.

Just simple is better in our own end. For me
at least, it slows the game down for me, and
I think we're just giving up a lot less great
A chances than we ever have, and when that comes
usually a lot a lot less panic happens, and guys
feel good to be able to make plays coming out
of the D zone. And then when you're doing that,
you're controlling the puck and transitioning into the offensive zone.
So I think for the both of us, we like

a calm, collective D zone and keeps us on us
back there and creates less frustration between me and him
and and then between us and the four.

Simple A is better. It's gotten the crack in this
far and done said for tonight, it's all about putting

Slot chances and rush chances. That's what our two keys
of the defensive game are going to be tonight. They're

The Wings love using their speed through that area, So

lived in my town in swift Kerransaskatchewan, so you know,
you grew up and it's kind of like a real
sort of a real I guess eye opener. And you know,
but I thought the management team ownership, you know, and
they had just taken over the year prior to me
and Eiserman coming here, they had a heck of a

draft in nineteen eighty three getting you know, Joey Kosher,
Bob Proverbs, Peter Klima, you know, guys that laid the
foundation for this hockey team for for years to come.
And we're integral parts of their Stanley Cups and so
the you know, the management hasn't and does a great
job here. And you know, my time here was fantastic.

You know, it was like I say, it was first
couple of years and the first three years in the
National Hockey League, and what more did you want as
a as a nineteen year old kid, you know, your
dream had come true and you just tried to do
your best every day.

Yeah, you heard coach Lane Lambert talk about that a
little bit, and sometimes the bat pucks bounce your way

anything differently, but this team is definitely prioritizing getting pucks

Goaltending continuing to be an area a topic of conversation
for the Seattle Kraken. On the positive side, Joey Decord

a Detroit Red Wings team that has six to six

but for them, the power play in that top line
are gonna be two areas where a Kraken are gonna

Going to battle Kracking, knocking off San Jose for one,
dishing some payback after losing six to one in the
same place earlier this month. With Jaden Schwartz getting a
two Gold Night now tight for first on the kracking
with seven goals with Jordan Ebery. And by the way,
when Jaden Schwartz scores more than a goal, the Kraken
are as good as Gold eight and oh their record.

When Schwartz has now a multi goal game and has
everetten Out talked about the goalie carousels spinning once again.
First meeting with the Sharks, of course, there was a
goalie change because the Sharks were piling up the offense
this time. Last meeting, the injury bug taking a bite
out of the Krack and once again Matt Murray leaving
in period one due to injury. The Philip Grubauer coming

in nineteen saves on nineteen shots, and the Kracking getting
the best out of him when they needed him the most.
Grubauer and their penalty killed getting the Kracking out of trouble.
San josego in one of six on the man advantage
and zero for three in period three. So in the
injury up Dat's side, still some moving parts. Joey Decordzoff

I are near to the shelf of choruses. Matt Murray
hill miss six weeks lower body ailment, Coppocaco still week
to week, and Jared McCann yet is on the trip here.
That's a good sign on the Kraken side against the
Red Wings. It's the first of two meetings. Detroit's coming
out to Seattle this next month, and the Krack and
as we said, trying to end a three game winless
skid in the series that's been a very tight one

in franchise history. Both teams four wins apiece five of
eight meetings needing overtime, and the crack in two and
one against Detroit not zero to two in the shootout
power plays, though heavy advantage here to the Red Wings
despite both teams fair and pretty well. The Kraken six
to twenty five not too shabby, but with the Red
Wings ten of twenty six in this series all time

thirty eight percent, that is a lights out advantage. We're
gonna talk about later on on cracking story lines. First off,
begin with Joey Decord. He's back off ir He'll start
anette most in the previous five games upper body ailment.
He's though three to one and two last six appearances
and trying to make good here in his fifth career
appearance against the Red Wings and looking for his first

win against him head to head since twenty twenty three
twenty four. Second storyline, big night here for Lane Lambert.
Can the Kraken get their head coach? He'll win on
his birthday. He's also back where he used to play
three seasons in Detroit as a center back in the
mid eighties, where he was also roommates with a young
Steve Isserman. Last time he coached the game, by the way,

on his birthday, he won with the New York Islanders.
They beat Calgary five to four in a shootout two
seasons ago. And finally, the third key, our third story line,
staying out of the box. The Kraken down a man
thirteen times, last three games with a penalty kill, getting
worn out lately. Yet they were good against San Jose,
but have gone through a string of six straight games

allowing a power play goal, longest in the NHL this season,
and they're facing a deadly Detroit team that's picking up
some steam and the power play last three games going
four for fourteen.

Let's hear more from the Kraken.
Speaker 10 (11:12):
Freddy Goodreau came back last game and at the Krack
A need the penalty kill. Well, they'll need him too,
when he said against San Jose, the Kraken as a
four man unit felt more connected.
Speaker 13 (11:24):
It's adjustments, for sure. Every time. Every day you're trying
to get better, trying to tweak stuff. There's a that
goal we gave up, there is you know it's again
it's just adjustment, learning from it and that's all you
got to keep moving forward with everything basically, but especially
with the peaking well.
Speaker 10 (11:40):
The Kraken have been sputtering to score goals much of
this season. They have scored nine in the last two games,
and yet the twenty seven goals have allowed a five
on five, second lowest allowed in the NHL, and Vince
Dunn said it's made a difference with how he and
Adam Larson played together.
Speaker 14 (11:57):
Just simple is better in our own end. For me
at least, it slows the game down for me, and
I think we're just giving up a lot less great
A chances than we ever have, and when that comes
usually a lot a lot less panic happens, and guys
feel good to be able to make plays coming out
of the D zone. And then when you're doing that,
you're controlling the puck and transitioning into the offensive zone.
So I think for the both of us, we like
(12:19):
a calm, collective D zone and keeps us on us
back there and creates less frustration between me and him
and and then between us and the four.
Speaker 10 (12:28):
Simple A is better. It's gotten the crack in this
far and done said for tonight, it's all about putting
the spike strip on the wing wheel.

Slot chances and rush chances. That's what our two keys
of the defensive game are going to be tonight. They're
very good off the rush, very dynamic. Their d like
to be the fourth and fifth man in the attack.
So just slowing down and making sure we're not getting
beat up the ice and then in the d zone,
making sure we're in the good areas of the game,
and we watch a lot of video and seeing that

they're always looking inside to hit F three's and to
create those inside chances when the puck's along the wall
and are download cracking.

it was it was a real eye opener, you know

lived in my town in swift Kerransaskatchewan, so you know,
you grew up and it's kind of like a real
sort of a real I guess eye opener. And you know,
but I thought the management team ownership, you know, and
they had just taken over the year prior to me
and Eiserman coming here, they had a heck of a

draft in nineteen eighty three getting you know, Joey Kosher,
Bob Proverbs, Peter Klima, you know, guys that laid the
foundation for this hockey team for for years to come.
And we're integral parts of their Stanley Cups and so
the you know, the management hasn't and does a great
job here. And you know, my time here was fantastic.

couple of years and the first three years in the
National Hockey League, and what more did you want as
a as a nineteen year old kid, you know, your
dream had come true and you just tried to do
your best every day.
