Everything that could go wrong did go wrong for the
Seattle crack and they allowed three in the first.

the ice. It was the defensive end. You can start
from goaltending, but defense is a team game. It was goltending,
it was defensive, was forwards, it was everybody. As you said,
everything that could go wrong went wrong.

First time franchise history, the Seattle Kraken have allowed nine
goals in a game. First time in franchise history, the
Seattle Kracken have allowed four power play goals in a

The cracking for the sixth time this season, finding their
offense four goals in that game, also out hitting Edmondson
as well. The physicality was there. You expected that to
happen from the game on Saturday, that four nothing lost.
But as Jordan Everly so eloquently put it this morning,
you score four goals, great, you can't give up nine
and expect to win hockey games.

Yeah, the physicality, the goals were great. Shots on goal
were also fantastic. Twenty four and nineteen. The Kraken led
after two periods and at the end of the game
it was thirty two a piast. There were enough bucks

with a Kraken opening up their homestand first of three
games and a record of eleven eight and six at

line of the Western Conference. But coming home, they've been
pretty good here as well, six to three and three,
and they face the Red Wings, who are fourteen eleven

with the Kraken trying to improve on their four to
two and three had to head record against Detroits. Well,
this evenings team could be coined as possible redemption because
last game was full of disappointment in a nine to

last two games they were beaten and blowout fashion before

get back to those fundamentals which have certainly proven to

I think it's a matter of finding, you know, the

bread and butter details defensive and trying to find offense
out of that. So, you know, like I said, this league,

it's nice you get a good chance for a couple
of days later to you know, kick going again.

Josh Bahur has been trying to stay sharp in his
most recent strateg sitting out, but he's back in now
and he said, the Kraken, you know who they're dealing with,

get that done? Well?

The first one is going to tie right back to
that game. Then to lock down the defensive zone. The
Red Wings thrive when they get extended zone times. The
Kraken need to keep their defensive structure tighter than a
jar of pickles with a locked on lid. Quick exits,
smart sticks and winning the down little battles will keep
Detroit chasing instead of creating. Secondly, cycle Detroit from confusion

or excuse me, cycle Detroit into confusion.

Forwards need to get the pucked down and grind away,
forcing Detroit's defense to spend long shifts, turning, switching and
second guests and everything they worked on in their morning skate. Today,
a heavy four check can turn their blue line into
a group project no one wants to lead. And then
third shoot relentlessly and hunt down rebounds. Detroit's goalie can

be rattled with volumes, so the Kraken should fire early
and often, then crash the net like it's Black Friday
and the last Labuba was up for grabs. Greasy goals
count the same as highlight reel ones, even sometimes even

this is. The Cracking are zero three to one in
their last four games. They've not been playing their best
hockey here as of late. And honesty, you can really
take away with the Islander game that was a shutout,
a one nothing loss, and a shootout. But still for

the Kracking, you get the win tonight, two more points,
you're back in the first wildcard.

Here tonight, Seattle still finds themselves in a really good spot.
But I mean, how much more of a must win

Well, I think every team goes through these these these
periods of time. We've heard Lane Lambert talk about there's
a couple of stinker games every year. There's also probably
a couple of stinker slides, if you will, where it's
multiple losses in a row. You just want to shorten
them as much as you can. And the quicker you
shorten them, the less damage it does to where you
are at. The Cracking have had a best starting franchise history.

It's hurting them a little bit to lose these four
in a row. They got to get back on the
winning train, get back on the playoff hunt, and we'll
forget about this four or four game loss, you know,
after Christmas.

here as well with Murhurry, you get a little bit
more grit, some toughness in that lineup.

guys of Hey, we got to turn this around. We're
we're going to make this change. From a coaching standpoint,

you begin to break this one down? We've talked before.
Is this a thing you chalk up to, Hey, these
things happened, or was there just something more fundamental about
that game that you want to address.

I mean, you look at the fundamental side of it,
and you know the breakdowns that we had, the things
that we did, you know, so you know, you go
over those things. And certainly when the when the ball started,
you know, snowing the wrong way, it snowballed, and you know,
we just one of those nights where we couldn't keep

it out of our nat or penalty kill their power play.
You know it was good, and you know, it's just
one of those games where I just thought that everything
that you know could go wrong kind of did go wrong,
but we were the result of having them go wrong.

Jordan Ebi this morning said that offensively, it was one
of the better games you guys played. You had your chances,
but anytime you give up nine, you're not going to
win those games. I guess on a positive note, what
did you make of the offensive opportunities that you guys had.

Well, yeah, I said that after the game, even you know,
we did a lot of good things offensively. We shot
volume was there. We need to continue with that. We
had a number of good scoring chances and we did
a lot of good things. So if we look at
it from that standpoint, and some of the things that
we've been talking about offensively, you know, they're they're starting
(28:24):
to do a better job of building those into our game.
We need to continue going that way. Take that positive
out of that game, but we need to be better defensively.

The guys had a day off yesterday. You've had some
time to reset and maybe stew or or put it
out of your mind from that game a couple of
nights ago. What's been the message to your team this
morning leading into the contest.

Well, it's a you know, to your point, you know,
you have your choice. You can come in and you know,
grind it out yesterday, or you can reset and get
ready to play tonight. And you know there's for me,
it was no lack of effort in Edmonton. I thought
we worked it just everything kind of that could go

wrong did go wrong. You know, we made some mental
errors as well. We can't give up breakaways like we
did and all that stuff. So you know, for me,
the message is to reset. I do think there's areas,
you know, in our identity that we didn't look very
good in in Edmonton, really in both the games against Edmonton.
So get back to that, understand who we are, how

we need to play in order to win games and
tighten things up.

Thursday Night in Edmonton saw one of Seattle's best offensive
performances of the season. However, it was also one of
the worst defensive performances we've seen in recent memory that
led to a fourth consecutive loss for the Krackt.

Assist for the Oilers, who scored three goals in each
period for the first time since nineteen eighty six on
their way to a nine to four win. Tonight, Seattle
returns home to begin a three game homestand against the
Detroit Red Wings, who have lost five of their last
six games.

It was Murphy's Law for Seattle on Thursday.

Everything that could go wrong did go wrong for the
Seattle crack and they allowed three in the first.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Three and the second three and the third they go
four for I guess one for five on the penalty kill.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
They did snap a four game power play gold drought,
Eli Tolbenen scoring on the power play, snapping a six
game goal drout for himself. But all in all, Lane
Lambert said it. Players said it not good enough in
that nine to four lost Edmonton.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
No, absolutely, And the problem wasn't the offensive end of
the ice. It was the defensive end. You can start
from goaltending, but defense is a team game. It was goltending,
it was defensive, was forwards, it was everybody. As you said,
everything that could go wrong went wrong.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
First time franchise history, the Seattle Kraken have allowed nine
goals in a game. First time in franchise history, the
Seattle Kracken have allowed four power play goals in a
game as well.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
We touched on some of the positives. It wasn't all bad.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
The cracking for the sixth time this season, finding their
offense four goals in that game, also out hitting Edmondson
as well. The physicality was there. You expected that to
happen from the game on Saturday, that four nothing lost.
But as Jordan Everly so eloquently put it this morning,
you score four goals, great, you can't give up nine
and expect to win hockey games.

Yeah, the physicality, the goals were great. Shots on goal
were also fantastic. Twenty four and nineteen. The Kraken led
after two periods and at the end of the game
it was thirty two a piast. There were enough bucks
that got to the endton Net just.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Gave up too many dinner in and on the other
side of the red line, the Detroit Red Wings, after
getting off to a pretty hot start, they had cooled
off here as of late one three and two in
their last six they've been outscored twenty nine to twenty
one in that time. And I mentioned it before. They've
allowed five or more goals nine times this season, which
leeds the NHL, and in their last six games, they've

allowed at least four in five of them.

Yeah, but despite all that, the last four times these
two teams have met, Detroit's come up with the wins.
So Seattle's got to factor that into their game prep
tonight because you know, Detroit.

the Wings, Monday against Minnesota, and Wednesday against the La Kings.

Light landing in section twenty here at Climbing Pledge Arena
with a Kraken opening up their homestand first of three
games and a record of eleven eight and six at
twenty eight points, a or two out of the cut
line of the Western Conference. But coming home, they've been
pretty good here as well, six to three and three,
and they face the Red Wings, who are fourteen eleven
and three thirty one points and right now about to
(07:04):
embark on their second game of a six game road trip,
with the Kraken trying to improve on their four to
two and three had to head record against Detroits. Well,
this evenings team could be coined as possible redemption because
last game was full of disappointment in a nine to
four loss to Edmonton on Thursday. As Everett now mentioned,
the nine goals allowed most in cracking history for one game.
(07:28):
The four power play goals allowed most in one game
in Cracking history, and that also included a goalie change.
Joey Decor the starter out from the second period five
goals on fourteen shots. Philip Grubauer didn't fare much better
four goals on eighteen shots in the second period, a
big turning point after the Krack had nearly a racing
a three to nothing deficit in the first period, but

Edmonton pulling away with three unanswered goals in a span
of six twenty five and by the end of ed
Connor McDavid had a thirteenth career hat trick. Afterwards, the
Kraken took yesterday off no practice period, and captain Jordan
Everley said this morning is because they needed a reset
more than anything.

Trying to reset, recalibrate. You know, obviously nine nine to
four doesn't it's not what you want. Who've lost three
in a row. I think it's I mean, you're gonna
go through adverse, thary adversity through the season and they've
never been on a team who hasn't, So just how
you come out of it. I mean, we've got to
get another good opportunity tonight to you know, meet the
challenge and against a really good hockey team, so you know,

kind of just reset and get back to what we
know we're good at our game and then go from there.
Speaker 8 (08:36):
Meaning that challenge would also mean potentially ending a run
of three and one in the last four games, all
because of a mashup of issues in that stretch. First
two games of that the Kraken scoring just two goals,
last two games they were beaten and blowout fashion before
nothing and nine to four, but both games also coming
at the hands of Edmonton. The special teams also needing

a big turnaround here for the recent stretch. The power
play one of three on Thursday, they went previously zero
of fourteen and the penalty kill, giving up power play
goals six power play goals last seven chances, and they
have fallen into the basement of the NHL overall and
the crack and trying to end this four game winless skid,
which is their longest of this season. A few issues
(09:18):
that they're trying to get corrected here for this evening,
our cracking story lines first up begin with lineup changes,
most notably no Jamie Alexiak on the back end, looking
like he's a healthy scratch. Josh Bhurros back in his
first game back after sitting out the previous twelve, and
I'll pair up with Ryker Evans on defense and up front.
Mason Marshman back in he sat out Thursday in Edmonton.
(09:41):
Yonnie Newman takes a seat and which now gives a
crack in a new look here for their bottom nine
left to right, Ellie Tolvenen, Chandler Stevenson Coppocaco. Then you
have Mason Marshman, Freddie Gudreau, Berkeley Catton as well. He'll
play on the off wing, and Ty Cartier with Shane
Wright and Ryan Winner. Ten second story line is Joey
the court. He'll be back in nets and seeking redemption
(10:03):
also to end a personal four game winless skit, his
last win coming against Chicago on the twentieth of November.
He had twenty two saves that evening, and against Detroit
he has won one in two in five games. Our
third story line, can home cooking help the Kraken out
this evening? They'll open up here with three games straight
at home. They're trying to get back to the basics
(10:25):
here as far as defense goals allowed, so far thirty
that's still fourth best in the entire league. All six
wins at home, they have allowed only three goals or
less in each of those wins, and plus the krack
in here also aiming for their first home wins since
the fifteenth of November. Shots allowed by the way no
more than twenty six they've allowed here in five of
(10:47):
the last six home games. So they're trying to again
get back to those fundamentals which have certainly proven to
be successful on their side. Let's hear more from the
Kraken and they said a new high for shot at
Temps this season on Thursday in that nine to four loss.
Matter of fact, it was seventy four in total against Edmonton,
and Everly said, it's got a lot to do with
fine tuning details moving forward and not moving away from
(11:10):
defensive fundamentals.
Speaker 11 (11:11):
We created offensively, we were sharp with the puck, made
some plays, you know, created, but obviously you give up nine,
you're not gonna win in any league. So, you know,
I think it's a matter of finding, you know, the
detailed part of the game and trying to correct that stuff,
which we've been good at. That's kind of been the
bread and butter details defensive and trying to find offense
out of that. So, you know, like I said, this league,
(11:33):
it's nice you get a good chance for a couple
of days later to you know, kick going again.
Speaker 8 (11:37):
Josh Bahur has been trying to stay sharp in his
most recent strateg sitting out, but he's back in now
and he said, the Kraken, you know who they're dealing with,
beginning with a threatening reputation on the Red Wings side, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
They got a lot of skill.

You know, a lot of guys I like to hold
on to the puck and make plays, and they've been
doing it for.

A long time.

So I think just trying to limit their time and space,
you know, use use our identity the best of our ability,
break bucks out and just try to play an there.

On the injury updates side, Matt Murray again still out
six week period. He's nursing a lower body ailment, and
Jayden Schwartz, also al for a six week strategy, is
right now nursing a lower body injury as well. We'll

their only visit this season to Climbate Pledge Arena. This
game their second one of a lengthy trip after this
or end of Van Hoover, Calgary, Edmonton and Chicago, finishing
a pack stretch of six games in nine days. It

will certainly test their strength in this recent stretch because
they've been treading water as far as the numbers, and
they come then two points out of a playoff spot
in the Eastern Conference. In the last game, needless to say,
a bumpy ride, six to five loss in a shootout
at Columbus, which had plenty of twists and turns. The
Red Wings down four to three after two periods, scored
twice in a span of two to h three in

cough it up with one thirty one left on a
goal by Adam fan Tilly, his second of the night,
and the Blue Jackets eventually won it with a pair
of goals in the shootout stages. Given the Red Wings

that span and the penalty kill allowing goals in four

of the last six games. They are still get loaded
with skill as they're trying to end for this season
a nine season stretch of a playoff drought. Dylan Larkin,
Lucas Raymond, Alex dabrinkt a big part of that emerging corps.
They have scored a combined thirty nine goals this season,
but that trio has accounted for forty four percent of
their offense. So, in other words, their top heavy and

did you make of the offensive opportunities that you guys had.

Well, yeah, I said that after the game, even you know,
we did a lot of good things offensively. We shot
volume was there. We need to continue with that. We
had a number of good scoring chances and we did
a lot of good things. So if we look at
it from that standpoint, and some of the things that
we've been talking about offensively, you know, they're they're starting

to do a better job of building those into our game.
We need to continue going that way. Take that positive
out of that game, but we need to be better defensively.

The guys had a day off yesterday. You've had some
time to reset and maybe stew or or put it
out of your mind from that game a couple of

grind it out yesterday, or you can reset and get

it was no lack of effort in Edmonton. I thought

wrong did go wrong. You know, we made some mental
errors as well. We can't give up breakaways like we
did and all that stuff. So you know, for me,
the message is to reset. I do think there's areas,
you know, in our identity that we didn't look very
good in in Edmonton, really in both the games against Edmonton.
So get back to that, understand who we are, how

we need to play in order to win games and
tighten things up.
