Los Angeles, Orange County, iE in the Valley. This is to
Wallace Sharp and you're listening to KFIAM six forty soul Cal Saturday on demand
on the iHeartRadio app. KFI AMsix forty live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app

(00:26):
in several cities. We do nothave more cities. I just thought about
that because we typically would be offby now, so we are live everywhere
in your neck of the woods. This is the extended remix of soul Cal
Saturday. We will be on withyou till eight. Unfortunately, that means

(00:49):
that we will not get unsolved untilpossibly nine pm. We will see.
We are in touch with Steve Gregoryand the team to see if they will
be joining us later. Not onehundred percent sure, but we are here
till nine pm keeping our eyes oneverything happening in the Middle East the US.

(01:14):
I'm looking right now at Fox andit says that the US has shot
down dozens of Iranian drones. Veryvery interesting. And as you know,
and as you've been listening, Israelair defenses are also intercepting some Iranian strikes.
After Iran launched a barrage of missilestowards Israel in retaliation for an Israeli

(01:37):
strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascusearlier this month. We are keeping our
eyes on this and praying that thingsdo not escalate that is beyond this.
I know you're like twelve. Thingsare already escalated, escalate beyond where they

(01:57):
are right now. We are prayingfor cooler heads to prevail. This coming
Monday is National Anime Day. NationalAnime Day is Monday is a day where
you and your family should gather aroundthe television and immerse yourself in anime to

(02:20):
the patron Saint Animaicus no kid,I kid, I kid. But in
addition to National Anime Day, itis also tax Day. And if you,
like me, are completely and utterlyunprepared for tax Day, I want

(02:43):
to take a look with you atwhat could happen if you don't file by
the fifteenth Now for me, forme, one thing that happens if I
don't file by the fifteenth is nothing, because I typically get an extension.
The tax firm that I work with, they know me, they know me,

(03:07):
they already know an extension is goingto be needed. So anytime I
reach out to them, I'm like, oh my god, I'm so sorry.
I'm just getting stuff to you.And they're like, mister Sharp,
it is okay. We have alreadyfiled your extension because they just know.
I'm you know, I'm a procrastinatorlike that when it comes to these taxes.
And I think I got my Wtwo's a while ago from both here

(03:29):
at iHeart and at the school thatI work at, and I'm like,
why haven't I gotten that in?I don't know. It's just, you
know, procrastination is procrastination. Butif you owe money, you you know,
we got to pay it. Imean, essentially, there there is

(03:49):
penalties, ie, you know, minor finds that you could be facing,
you know, but really and truly, the thing that you should really worry
about is paying your tax. Youget in trouble when you don't pay.
If you owe money. It's notillegal to not owe money. And I'm
quoting mo Kelly those great when hesaid, I'm like, yes, it

(04:10):
is not illegal to owe money, but you will find yourself in a poop
ton of trouble if you do notpay that money, which you do.
Oh. Now, the penalty fornot filing though, those who miss the
tax filing deadline without requesting an extensionface a failure to file penalty and a

(04:36):
failure to pay penalty. There's alsointerest compounded daily on the tax and penalties.
The current interest rate on those penaltiesis eight percent. The failure to
file penalty is pretty stiff and addsup quickly for individual taxpayers. The IRS
typically assesses a failure to file penaltyof five percent of the unpaid taxes for

(05:00):
each month or partial month, cappedat twenty five percent of the total.
That could be up to twenty fivehundred dollars on top of a ten thousand
dollars tax bill. Don't do itto yourself, Just don't, just don't
now. The failure to file penaltycan be even harsher for taxpayers with lower

(05:25):
balances due, which does make sense. But yeah, if your return is
more than sixty days late, thereis a maximum. Oh no, there
is a minimum penalty for late filing, the lesser of four hundred eighty five
dollars or one hundred percent of thetaxes. Oh the taxpayer who owes one
thousand dollars and files late, likeon June sixteenth, with phase a failure

(05:46):
to file penalty of four hundred eightyfour dollars thirty five dollars, which is
you know, I mean, look, any money losts is money lost,
and that's you know, that's notwhat you want, all right. I
would suggest, if you haven't already, and your middle name is procrastination,

(06:08):
like mine, file your extension.Very very very simple way to avoid any
drastic late filing penalties is to filea request for an extension. Taxpayers could
ask their tax prepared to put ina request, do this with their tax
software, or you can either oryou can use Form forty eight sixty eight

(06:28):
at the IRS's free file online website. This provides an automatic extension until October
fifteenth to file. Now me,I have someone that I use, and
I know you're listening, so justno, but taxes will be coming to
you on Monday, if I mayjust go on and email them to you

(06:49):
tonight. Actually, you know what, soon as I get off, I'm
going to email them to you tonightand then send you a message on Monday
to let you know that they're inyour mailbox. Just get that extension ready,
Warm it up, just warm itup, just just put it in
the oven, e set it forfour hundred and take it out when it's
ready to go bing. That ismy assessment of putting in an extension.

(07:14):
Yes, super producer Kayla, thatis how I look at it. The
advantages of extensions beyond the obvious. It gives you time up until the fifteenth
to get everything in order, andthat's you can't shake a stick at that.
You really really can't. If youare doing a refund, now,

(07:35):
there's no penalty for failing to fileon time if you are due a refund,
which is real funny, like ifthey owe you money. Oh no,
there's no penalties. There's nothing becausethey owe you money. They're looking
for you not to file if theyowe you money. They only are after
you if you owe money. Isn'tthat interesting? And disaster delays, there

(07:59):
are still disaster delays in place forindividuals who live in portions of ten states
that were given automatic extensions because ofnatural disasters. California is now part of
it because of that recent horrific rainstormturned snowstorm that really just took us through
the ringer. Well, there arevarious cities in California that do qualify automatically

(08:24):
for disaster delays. Just visitrs websiteand find out if you qualify easy peasy,
or get yourself a good tax person. That is one thing, and
likely just if you don't already havea good tax person and you're using one
of the tax apps and you knowhow to Hey, God bless you.
You know you're you know, Hey, congratulations, you're set up all night.

(08:48):
Intern Your information good for you.Me. I need a tax person
because I get confused when I'm puttingin all this information. If you don't
have one, though, get oneand just stay on top of your taxes.
I actually knew someone who tried forsome reason, they're gonna hide from
the IRIS or something, and theystart getting a lean put on their finances

(09:11):
and the IRIS was coming for everything. IRIS was like, oh no,
you got it, and we're gonnaget it before you do. That's a
problem. That's not what you wantfile your taxes. But most importantly,
on Monday, April fifteenth, itis important for you and your family to
honor Anime Day National Anime Day.Make sure as soon as your kids get

(09:33):
home from school, you all gatheraround the television watch anime. If you
can leave some cookies on a tablewith some milk for Saint Anima, kiss
again. No, I Kid,I Kid and Avatar. The Last Airbender
Counts is anime, So feel freeto binge that bad boy, binge it,
binge it and binge it hard.Just don't binge the live action that

(09:56):
part. Yeah, you're listening tosoul Cal Saturday to Walla Sharp on demand
from KFI AM six forty KFI AMsix forty live everywhere on the high Heart

(10:20):
Radio app in Rolling Hills, Anaheim, Brea, and Colton. This is
soul Cal Saturday. I'm your host, Twalla Sharp Soulcal Side. Yes,
we're still on, We're still here. This is the extended remix of soul
Cal Saturday. There is this trainbeing proposed from San Francisco to La.

(10:46):
Inching closer to reality. This overnighttrain is being positioned as a luxury train.
Now it's it's it's got a heftyprice attached to it, all right.

(11:07):
That the the highest tickets on thistrain go for about what like a
thousand dollars something like that. Ithink some of the lower end tickets on
this train go for three or fourhundred dollars. The benefit of this train
is it's an overnight train from LAto San Francisco. I'm back that has

(11:30):
sleeping cars, bars, it's it'san upscale luxury experience, the Dream Star
train, and it's supposed to runalong the coast Line railroads between La County
and the San Francisco area. AndI know there was a lot of questions
about that price, but this isalmost like a getaway on a train.

(11:58):
Now you can get on this train, you and your boo thing and lay
down, get some wine, takein the sights as you're traveling. When
you get to the Bay, maybeyou're gonna go up to wine Country real
quick and you want to go andcheck out a vineyard. Well, you
take the train up there overnight, you get there in the morning, get
your mimosas and your brunch or whatever, and then you know, take the

(12:22):
train back. This to me isa sexy, sexy getaway. I'm not
mad at the idea of this.I think this is beautiful. It'd be
a nice little date too, Likeif you just want to run away for
a day or so, that's afun time. This is a very fun
time. See super producer. Seenow your stuff is coming out. So
okay, look this is see thisis what you say. We connect because

(12:43):
you too see the magic in thisovernight train and it's sexy just being on
a train, just you know somethingabout it. You can play strangers on
the train or whatever like that wouldbe a fun time. Yeah. Yeah,
Hey, Ray, how you doing? And I said, you take
this train office where you're from?Yes, yes, yes, I absolutely
love it as much as I lovedogs. Even though I'm a cat person,

(13:07):
I do love dogs and that iswhy I'm super excited for the Wiggle
Waggle Walk. Yes, the WiggleWaggle Walk is happening tomorrow. No,
next Sunday, Yes, next Sunday, Next Sunday, the twenty first at
Brookside Park at the Rose Bowl.Join kfi's team. We are the top

raise funds for the Humane Society bygoing to the website give dot Pasadena Humane
dot org, Ford slash Team FordSlash five six seven zero three zero.

(13:50):
Okay, give dot Pasadena Humane dotorg Ford Slash Team Ford Slash five six
seven zero three zero. Or youcan go onto the KFI website and find
the Wiggle Waggle Walk team there.I know Moe Kelly is going to be
out there with Benson and Riley.I may be out there, but it's

(14:13):
at nine am at Brookside and that'spretty early for me and I don't have
a dog necessarily, but maybe I'lltake my niece out there because her dog,
Casper, is just a hoot andCasper loves other dogs very well behaved.
Yeah, you know what, wemay go out to the Wiggle Waggle

(14:33):
Walk, so who knows. Imay be there. Would love to see
you there. And also, don'tforget don't don't don't don't you forget that.
Beach Life Festival is returning to thesands of Verdondo Beach May third through

(14:58):

because we will be here for anotherhalf hour or so with the yeah yeah,

(15:20):
Kela, you'll be there live She'slike, I didn't know. The
focal courts will be like yes, yes, Kela, yes, yes,
we are live. So yeah, you're gonna lie there. We are going
to be here all the way tilleight o'clock keeping you in the know with
all things happening in the Middle East. Regarding the missile strike launched by Iran.
We'rein dozens of drones were launched atIsrael. Iran says that it will

(15:43):
target any country that opens its airspacefour and Israeli attack against Iran. President
Biden has assured allies in in Iran. That's saying that the United States is
committed to Israel's security against threats fromIran and its proxies, and that is

(16:04):
ironclad. And we are going tokeep you posted on all things happening regarding
this situation. So don't you gonowhere. You're listening to soul Cal Saturday
with Tawala Sharp on demand from KFIAM six forty, AFI AM six forty

(16:33):
live everywhere on the iHeartRadio Appentarzana plasCentya, Himme It and Blyi. This
is soul Cal Saturday. I'm yourhost Twalla Sharp taking a look at the
latest updates on what is happening inIsrael. There are reports of explosions and
apparent intercepts across Israel, according toTel Aviv and the West Bank. A

(16:56):
CNN team that is on the groundis reported hearing the explosions and sirens as
intercepts occur over Jerusalem. US airdefense systems in the Middle East also intercepted
some Iranian drones. According to twoUS officials, President Biden is meeting with
his security team and they are inthe in the war room, trying to

(17:22):
determine what what's going on, whatcan be done. There is supposed to
be a press conference, if I'mnot mistaken. President Biden is supposed to
be issuing a statement publicly on this, and we're kind of looking at the
news. There was a rumor thatthis was going to happen. I'm not
sure. I'm not sure. Haveyou heard anything on Biden speaking yet?

(17:45):
Heather, No, Heather can't hearme. Heather's in her own world looking
up what's going on. But Ihaven't heard anything. I've done research.
I haven't seen anything, Robin, have you seen anything? I have not,
And I'm flipping through channels, allright, So look We're flipping through
the channels. Heather's checking out everysingle thing under the sun going on.

(18:07):
Yeah, nor headsets on. Okay, sorry, I was recording it.
I was recording some new headlines wehad to send out to our FM stations.
I'm multitasking over here, Superwoman.Yeah, we were just checking in
with you. See anything about thepress conference. I haven't. I'm keeping
tabs over here. I've got allmy monitors going on. I'm checking the
wires. Mostly, we're just hearingupdates that there's been no reports of injuries,

(18:32):
which is good news. I thinka few people were upset and had
some panic attacks when they were beingrushed into shelters, but people are being
told now they don't have to goto the shelter. The bombing has stopped,
so or the excuse me, themissile strikes have stopped. So No,
I have not heard anything yet aboutPresident Biden. But we're just we're

(18:56):
keeping an eye on everything over here. I like that the alarm is kind
of subsiding out there, and thatthe attacks have somewhat subsided, and I'm
hoping that this continues through the weekend. I'm hoping that this was kind of
like a warning salvo if you willjust kind of like a Hey, you

(19:19):
mess with us, now, We'regoing to mess with you. Yeah.
Well, I think the concern now, and what the US is asking is
if Israel decides to retaliate at thispoint against Iran, that's when I think
people are going to get even moreconcerned. And the US has asked them

(19:40):
to please let us know because Ithink we will have a heavier involvement.
I don't want to like, youknow, project anything or whatever, but
that's my understanding is that the UShas now asked Israel to please let us
know if they're going to retaliate againstIran, because that was certainly elevate the
situation. Yeah, look, weare praying that that does not happen.

(20:04):
Whereers that that absolutely does not happen. There is enough strife in the world,
much less here in the Southland, and we are praying for some level
of peace. And you know,we're a million miles away essentially, and

(20:26):
we may have no idea what thatis like. We don't know what it's
like to live in a place thatis always on the precipice of war and
a place that has been at warfor so long and fighting for just causes.
It's hard to imagine for us herein the States, even though we

(20:47):
know so many individuals here in SouthernCalifornia whose families are there, individuals who
here have left the region and comehere to make a life for themselves in
Southern California, who are watching thiswith baited breath, And so our thoughts
and prayers are for you here inthe Southland who are directly affected by this.

(21:11):
And this is why we pray forcooler heads. We are keeping an
eye on all things happening. Youjust got the latest from Heather, and
we're hoping that if there is apress conference that we get it well.
We're still on because we love tocarry it. We love to be part
of carrying a presidential announcement. Bea first for us. Super producer Kailer,

(21:36):
don't think we've ever done that before. That would be cool. No,
no, okay, no, coolsthe wrong word, cools, the
wrong world. It would be anew thing for our show. It'd be
a new thing. It's not coolto be able to carry a presser from
the president, but I never have, you know, I've always loved how
Mois handled himself when he's gotten pressers. The next thing to myself, this

(21:57):
may be that night, This maybe that night of we have to take
the presser in really follow up onwhat the President had to say. So
that's why we're watching. We're watchingall channels, We're watching Fox in here,
We're watching every single thing, andyou're doing the right thing by listening.
You're doing the right thing by keepingit right here locked on KFI AM
six forty because we are going tokeep you up to date with the latest.

(22:21):
You're listening to soul col Saturday withTawala Sharp on demand from KFI AM
six forty, KFI AM six fortylive everywhere on the iHeartRadio app in West

(22:55):
Carson, del Sir Mountain Pass, and Joshua Tree. This is soul Cal
Saturday. I'm your host Twalla Sharp, wrapping up the extended remix of soul
Cal Saturday. We have been keepingour eyes on all things happening in the
Middle East. Biden, President Biden, right now I'm looking at this is

(23:18):
Fox News saying I condemn these attacksin the strongest possible terms. The attas
he's referring to, is the fuselageof drones that were launched by by Iran.
Israel has the Israel air defenses haveintercepted some Iranian strikes after Iran launched

(23:44):
a barrage of missiles towards Israel inretaliation for an Israeli strike on the Iranian
consulate in Damascus earlier this month. This kind of tip for tat is absolutely
this is the harshest. This isthe harshest because when you're launching missiles back
and forth, it is the peopleon the ground that are hurt the most.

(24:07):
And this is why we pray forpeace at a time like this before
we get out of here. Ididn't get a chance too earlier, so
I definitely want to make sure Ileave you with some things to look into,
some things to do over the courseof next week, maybe even this
weekend. There's still another day leftat the Festival of Books. Actually not

(24:30):
another day, a whole weekend. Why am I thinking I'm in the future.
No. Next weekend, USC ExpositionPark, April twentieth and twenty first,
the USC Festival of Books returned.Make sure you are there to check
that out. Coachella is happening thisweekend and next and Coachella is this weekend

(24:52):
was rainy this weekend was rainy. There's a little bit of a quake out
there, so I don't know thatmight have put a damper on Coachella.
I do want to go and logon to YouTube so I can watch some
of the Coachella performances tonight. Ibelieve tonight might be Doja Cat. I
definitely wanted to see what Dojha Catwas doing on stage. Those Kat has

(25:15):
dope performance. I think Doochcat's areally, really dope performer. She's really
really dope, no doubt. Definitelywant to see no doubt Tyler the Creator.
Look, if you, like me, are not interested in going out
to Coachella, like that's not yourthing. You're not trying to be out
there in the dirt with porta pottisand all that just feted disease ridden dust

(25:36):
that's happening out there. It's worsethan the ocean. It's Coachella. I
think there's poop ties. Talk aboutpoop dirt. That's what I'm talking about
at Coachella. Then you can watchit on YouTube. That's where I go
to watch my Coachella. But moreevents. Bob Barker Day happening April twenty
first, in Chinatown. In celebrationof the late Bob Barker, the namesake

(26:00):
Puppet Theater hosts their annual celebration atLos Angeles Dave Historic Park. This FreeFest,
which runs from ten am to fivepm, features puppet performances throughout the
day, plus an assortment of craftsand activities that typically include everything from bubbles
to balloons and music. Yep,Bob Barker Day and what else? Do

(26:22):
we have? Pizza City Festival thatis April twenty seventh and twenty eighth.
If you are into all things pizza, well, the Pizza Festival is going
down again. Unfortunately, I don'thave any website. Oh no, no,
no, yeah, I guess it'shappening at South Park, but I
don't have a website for this.Kaylo. You know this website. When

(26:44):
we get this list of things todo, they don't always include any information.
So what I would suggest is yougo to the sol Cow Saturday page
and we will put a link forthese events from Pizza Fest, Bob Barker
Day, and Rooftops a Club.Even though you don't have to go on
our website to find Rooftop Cinema Clubif you just Google Rooftop cinem Club.

(27:04):
Google, it's not a news site, Okay, don't restrict access to it.
Going back to an earlier conversation,Rooftop Cinema Club is one of the
dopest events. I mean, forme, when I've gone to see a
rooftop movie, it is an experience. When the night is right, they
have the heaters out there. Youget in the chair, drab a blanket

(27:26):
and just watch a classic movie onthe rooftop. There's something about that.
It's just really really romantic watching amovie under the stars. And Rooftop Cinema
Club they go all out to makeit a really really interactive and fun event.
There is sip and stroll at theLa Zoo. Sip on bear crafts
and cocktails plus mocktails are offered duringthis after hours twenty one and over event

(27:52):
at the La Zoo. Look outfor food trucks and DJ's live while you
are there. Plus you can throwon a set from various DJs who I
don't know their name, but standardtickets are included with beverages that you can
sample while you are there. Iguess. You can go on the La
Zoo's website or again go on ourpage on the KFI website and find out

(28:15):
more on sip and straw at theLazoo and even though I don't like going
to the zoo, and even theidea of being at the zoo after hours
while the animals are watching us walkaround sipping brews and stuff, waiting for
us to fall into one of theirenclosures so they can get us. Yeah,
I know that doesn't happen. Iknow, I'm just playing La Zoo.
I'm just playing. This seems likea wonderful event, so definitely check

(28:38):
out out. There's the Renaissance Fair, the six to six Golden Streets Walk,
run, skate bike and explore acar free area on Pasadena in Pasadena
south past Alhammer and Sad Gabriel.Doing the latest edition of this open street
event, the Metro presented six tosix Golden Street clears cars off the road

(29:00):
different parts of the San Gabriel Valleyfor one day only and on Sunday,
April twenty eighth, you will beable to set foot on the five mile
stretch of streets with no cars fromMission Street in South Pasadena down Maringo Avenue
along Alhambra Road, Main Street andthe last tunas drive towards Mission Drive in
San Gabriel Hens the mission to mission. Name of this particular event, Uh

(29:25):
huh get it? Mission to mission? Yeah, the six to six Golden
Streets. That sounds like a funtime being out there using people power,
to meet and greet with folks, take in some snacks. I love everything
about that and more. And thisis what we do here on soul Cal
Sarry. We try to keep youin the note and all things happening locally,

(29:45):
things you can get into, andtoday even things happening on the world
stage. As we were keeping youup to date with all things happening with
the missile strike happening in the MiddleEast. We will continue to do so.
So if you want to stay inthe know, what you will do
is you will keep it locked righthere on KFI AM six forty. You've

(30:10):
been listening to soul Cal Saturday. You can always hear us live on KFI
