Now k FI to Wallace Sharp is on the show
is so Cal Saturday.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
This this is so Cal song.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
It's so Cal Saturday.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Saturday, Saturday Saturday, seven day Saturday Saturday.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
The words, the.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
Word, this is soul Cal.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Yes, it is kf I AM six forty live everywhere
on the iHeartRadio app. This is soul Cal Saturday in Montrose,
Santa Clarita, Temecula, and Marietta. Welcome to our two taking
you to the first ever planned Disney community. And I

(01:29):
know you think to yourself, while are you insane? Why
would I care about a Disney community? And I'm not
talking about like a social media network. I'm not talking
about just you know, people who fill it one with Disney.
You know, we all go to Disneyland together. Hey, we're
part of the Disneyland community.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
We care.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
No, an actual planned neighborhood community, all right, Disneyland or
Disney World properties have purchased just acres of land all
right in Rancho Mirage near Palm Springs, and they're building Katino,

(02:14):
which is its first ever storyline community. All right now, Okay,
I get it, I get it. Home starting at a
million dollars or a little more than a million dollars,
I get it. That's like, well, you're not talking to
the average Joe, no, But still it's something to dream about,

(02:35):
isn't it. I mean, seriously, some of the pictures and
some of the amenities that they show in this community,
it is like the city of the future. Like back
in the day when we used to watch like old
cartoons that played in between Bugs Bunny and it would
say like welcome to the City of the future, and
they would have all these weird new fangle things that

(02:58):
they would expect in the city of the Few. And
this is like in like the early eighties, and like
they had things like you know, instant food, which yeah, okay, yeah,
we got we got microwaves now, stuff like that. But
these homes that they have laid out here in this area,
and again, okay, I get it, a million dollars may
seem like a lot. But but but when I think

(03:20):
about the house next door to where I live right now,
that's sort of like I think close to a Mill
five in Altadena, it's not it's not Rancho Mirage. Okay.
You know, houses right now in California are going for
a lot period. Right right now, I think the average
average cost right now trying to get into a house

(03:40):
in southern California mean maybe in the low low eight hundreds.
But that's like you're moving in at night, you know,
with you don't want anyone to know what you're bringing in.
You know, you're you're telling the movers don't worry about
the gunshots, okay, that they're not shooting at us. That's
where you're fighting these you know, seven hundred and fifty

(04:02):
eight hundred thousand dollars homes. Or you're way out in Bumbletuck,
Palm Dell or wherever, and no one knows where it is.
You got to drive like fifty eleven miles to get there.
And then you're you know, next to a well where
you get your water. Sure, that's where you're finding your
cheap homes. But you know, right now, average cost of
a home right now in California is getting roundabouts two

(04:26):
million dollars, So I don't know if that's something to
really really snuff your nose at. That's kind of where
we're going. But this community right now, where they've got
homes starting at twenty two one hundred square feet with
their three bed three bath they have an estate collection
which is thirty four one hundred square feet, and the

(04:47):
grand collection five bedrooms and bathrooms, topping out at about
thirty nine hundred square feets. The first round of houses
went up early earlier this year, and they're about to
put up about what some nineteen hundred homes. I'm just saying,
if if, if, if you are looking for a home,

(05:09):
if this is something that you are even in the
market to try to think about, maybe want to start planning.
This may be something to invest in. This is this
is this seems like you Now, they're not gonna have
like you know, uh mayor Mickey coming around knocking on
your doors, not like that. They're not gonna have rides,
you know. So it's like, yes, it's a disney Land,

(05:31):
disney branded property, and I'm sure they will create some
type of live work play facilities where they'll have stores,
that are affiliated with Disneyland. Just imagine like you have
this coatino community and then as they expand here in
this Rancho Mirage area or whatever, then they build up

(05:53):
something that kind of looks like Downtown Disney. Right, so
so you know, you expanding, we have the Downtown Disney
and you know, just another reason really to roll out
to Palm Springs. Look, we're rolling out to Palm Springs
right now to go to the casino anyways, So don't
act like, oh, Palm Springs is too far. Nah, You're
going out there to go see Backstreet Boys or Kevin

(06:15):
Harp perform at the casino. So now I don't know.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
I mean I was just there last weekend for my bachelorette.
Oh see, so it was not bad of a drive, right,
You can head out there and.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Just think if we if we continue to expand Metro.
And I know Moe Kelly is probably crashing his car
right now hearing me talk about expanding Metro. But if
we were to say expand metro, where we expand train
lines to get you back and forth out to that area,
and I know they're already trying things like that, it's

(06:50):
not that far. And just think like, even if you're
not looking to retire. I remember when my grandmother, rest
in peace, lived in Lancaster and we would drive out there,
and me and my brother would literally hate it. Not
that we hated to spend the time with our grandmother, Lord, No,
we love spending time with our grandmother, but that drive
and that drive, and we knew there was nothing out

(07:11):
there except for what. Back then, there was a Pick
and Save and there was a JC Pennies right off
I think it was Avenue j or K where she lived.
That's all that was out there. Now there's like a
mall every fifteen feet, there's like a JC Move. There's
all type of things in Lancaster, and they continue to build.
In Palmdale, they continue to build. Why because people start

(07:34):
moving out there. And originally in Palmdal and areas like that,
you could buy houses for next to nothing. Right now,
those same houses in some of those areas, not only
are they worth two or three times what they were
when they first built them, but now you can't get
into a home in the Palmdale area for damn near
less than a million. So haha, I'm just saying, realistically,

(07:55):
if we're thinking about buying houses. Why not invest in
something that you know for a fact, you know for
a fact, because of Disney and Disney's brand, the property
here is going to to just skyrocket. It's going to
skyrocket in value. And that's a fact. So I'm just
talking about, like I remember, and I know this is

(08:16):
this is a weird connection. But back in the day
living in Pasadena, you wouldn't be caught dead in Old Town.
There was nothing in Old Town except for Ladies of
the Night and the unhoused. On Colorado Boulevard. There was
a an adult store, not even an adult bookstore, just

(08:37):
like an adult store videos things like that. We always
start to sneaking there in the security, like got here
little perverted kids, but we just weird curious. Right. There
was the Pond Shop, and that was about it.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
Really.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
There was a couple of like buildings. You didn't know
what was in them. You may see some dudes walk
grown with ties and looking like they were cheating on
their wives down there, but there was literally you didn't
want to be down there. And we was always tripped
when the roast prey would come through because all the
old town, you know, pass it would be cleaned up,
you know, they'd sweep everything up and you'd be out
there on the bleacher just watching them pray, go bye.

(09:08):
And then next you know, the unhouse go back there
and sleep. And then all of a sudden, slowly but surely,
businesses started growing. And I remember I remember talking to
an individual that lived in our neighborhood who sold street pharmaceuticals.
Right he was a street pharmacist, And I remember having

(09:28):
a conversation with him one day and he was talking
about what he was gonna do with his money, and
I remember telling them, I said, dude, you need to
buy one of those properties down there in old Town
Pasadena for sale signs. And he was like, for what
what I want a old building for? And I'm like,
because they're growing, they're building all that thing's gonna be
worth something. And you know, we had a good laugh

(09:50):
and it was like all right, young buck, thanks for
stopping buy whatever, and uh and fast forward, and like
you couldn't get in there in old Town Pasadena if
you wanted to. And so I said, if you're thinking
about the future, even if if you aren't ready to
just put down on the house right now, right you
don't have the twenty percent for this. This is something

(10:10):
to think about investing in. As California continues to grow
and people are leaving California, cost of living, all that
will start to come down to start attracting people. But
something to look at it.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
Man.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
I don't know. Maybe I'm just a Disney dreamer. Maybe
that's it. Maybe I'm a fool, but I'm a fool
for you. All Right, this is KFI AM six forty.
We are live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
You're listening to Soul Cal Saturday with Taula Sharp on
demand from KFI AM six forty.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
KFI AM six forty live everywhere on the iHeart Radio
app in bo Koi, Mo, South, what Ta Valley, and Hino.
This is Soul Cal Saturday. I'm your host, Tala Sharp.
Taking a look at a few things to do this
weekend now through September. First, all right, there's the Sawdust

(11:17):
Festival in Laguna can Or in Laguna Beach ninety three,
ninety ninety three thirty five No. Nine to thirty five,
Laguna Canyon Road. They have daily art classes, more than
one hundred and eighty local artists, live music, and more,
all a part of this summer long Sawdust Art Festival

(11:37):
in charming downtown Laguna Beach. Yeah, this weekend, of course
is a great time to go because La County residents
get in for free free ninety nine on Sunday. But
now it's only open through September first and any other time.
General admission is twelve dollars, all right. You can find
out more about that at Sawdustartfestival dot org. Forwards lash

(12:00):
summer on August tenth through the eighteenth, Yes, August tenth
th through the eighteenth, so today through the eighteenth. There
is the and forgive me if I'm pronouncing this wrong,
the Nissi Week Japanese festival, all right, multiple locations, cost varies,

(12:21):
and you can find out more about this at nissweek
dot org. But niec Week japan Festival is one of
LA's Best lists for the is on LA's best list
of the year, and why it's no surprise they have
all types of delicious eats, art exhibits, festival vibe throughout

(12:42):
Little Tokyo all week long. Look, it is a beautiful thing.
It's a beautiful cultural thing to go and check out.
And I love that. I love checking out new cultural things.
But this on right, here. This one is the one
that I think absolutely does it for me. Now through
the thirty first Century City Mall, movie and TV pop ups,

(13:02):
all right, these things are free free ninety nine, happening
at the Westfield Century City Plaza one two five Oho
Santa Monica Boulevard. You can spend your day navigating, navigating
through all types of entertainment themed experience. It's okay, they

(13:23):
have it ends with us. It's a pop up experience,
all right, the Crown pop Up Experience. Both of these
are happening tomorrow. The eleventh free an ongoing experience is
the Mister and Miss Smith Escape Room. Don't know if
you watch that series on Amazon Prime or Prime Video. Fantastic,

(13:47):
Donald Glover my Erskine fantastic. This escape Room is absolutely free,
all right, Free ninety nine and I talked about this.
The last week tomorrow is the free La River Fest
all right. Los Angeles State Historic Park twelve forty five
North Spring Street in downtown LA three ninety nine hikes,

(14:12):
nature walks and more along the La River, and you
can join Friends of the La River for their third
annual celebration with Ego Activities, performance, art gallery, food trucks
and more, and make sure while you are there you
pick up after yourself. Do not destroy the river. One
thing that I hope the Friends of the River do

(14:32):
spend some time doing cleaning up the river. And I
know they did a river cleaning project early in the year,
so that's probably why they're down there celebrating. And also
tomorrow there is from ten to eleven, I mean from
ten am to three pm tomorrow there is a back
to School Braids and Buzz event. All right, this is
happening at the McDonald's on sixty nine oh four La

(14:55):
Tierra Boulevard in Inglewood. It is free. There is free
braiding and haircuts for kids. You can book an appointment
and head on over to McDonald's on Latier for McDonald's treats, music, games,
and free hair styling for students from pre K to
grade twelve. And super producer Kayla did not get me

(15:21):
an email address on this, but Chiata is putting on
the website.

Speaker 5 (15:26):
Yes, it's on the website and there will be a
QR code to book an appointment for that.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Oh yoo boo to the yoo. Yes, So all this
information and more is on the website. Why don't you
hand on over there and find out me personally. The
thing that I think that's standing out to me is this,
mister and miss escape Room Free Tomorrow. I love escape
rooms and I'm just thinking about that series and how

(15:52):
tense it was. I can imagine this being the escape
room to go and see all Right. Coming up next,
my brother from another Mother, Nick Poalochinni, will be calling
in live from D two three with all of the latest.
I am so jelly that I wasn't there, all the trailers,

(16:13):
all the events, all the Marvel and Disney and everything
else that happened. Man, I wish I was there. But
Nick Polyochanni will be calling in next to give us
all the low down on what went down at D
two three.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
You're listening to soul col Saturday with Taula Sharp on
demand from KFI AM six forty.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
Kf I AM six four live Everywhere on the Ihearted
Radio app and Rolling Hills, San Dinas, Palm Desert and Hysparia.
And if you know me, you know that I am
a hardcore nerd and I am a lover of all
things Disney, believe it or not. Side of my rough edges.
I love Disney. I love Disney Movies, pixarolcon look, I'm

(17:06):
into it. And looking at all the things that I
saw online last night about the D two three festival,
I was like, oh my god, I wish I was there. Fortunately, Fortunately,
the next best thing to be in there is knowing
someone who is there that can give us all of
the four to one one, the one the only Nick

(17:30):
Poleochini in the building. How are you doing good, sir?

Speaker 4 (17:34):
Oh t do? Can I just tell you like you're
legit the best type man without a question and we
have you know, we didn't we saw until recently. But
I love coming on, especially with soul Cown Saturday, because
I will be your exclusive eyes and ears here in
Ani'm for everything that's gone down so far and what
is to come?

Speaker 1 (17:52):
What has blown your mind thus far? Because I know
last night they rolled out trailers galore from like the
latest things happening all time types of new gadgets and toys.
What is the thing that just made you say shut
the front door?

Speaker 4 (18:05):
No, you didn't so the event last night And if
you want to follow along, Nick Pauli o'keee and this
week I'm a Nick on Instagram are the easiest place
is for you to see video snippets from everything that
has gone down starting on Thursday, which was D twenty
three day at the Disneyland Resorts. There are lots of
behind the scenes content for you there. But what happened
yesterday was the Disney Entertainment Showcase for the very first time.

(18:28):
This is if you We've talked about Comic Con and
having a hall h down in San Diego, which is
where all the major announcements go on, and every two years,
D twenty three converges on Anaheim, and we have haul
d here up to this point, just like they having
Comic Con this year, they moved that event over to
Honda Center twelve thousand Disney fans, right where the Anaheim

(18:51):
Ducks play. That was the stadium of the area, the
center that we filled, and we saw everything you could
possibly imagine with every new enter and offering coming from
Walt Disney, animation from Pixar, from Lucas Limited to Star
Wars related from Marvel, the Cinematic Universe, everything else plus
not Geo and so much more. It was really epic.

(19:13):
I would say we had about thirty to forty announcements
of what will be coming out this year through the
end of the year, but also all the way straight
on through into twenty twenty seven. And it's incredible because
you see all these We had a thing this morning
that's called mouse Guarade, so not Masquerade, but mouse Garades,
and people from all over the world fly in with
these incredible costumes that they put together in homage to

(19:36):
characters from the Walt Disney Company or from Disneyland Park,
or from any of the different things. Plus this year
is even more unique because of that century a twentieth
century Fox buyout. All of the family members from Simpsons
are there, and Family Guy and Bob Burgers and you
name it, so much there and there were so many
incredible announcements. It was one hit after another for a

(19:56):
three solid hours tonight, and I'm actually in it just
about twenty minutes. It's going to be joining the team
for Honda Centers. Tonight is going to be the Disney
Experiences panel, which is everything that is going to be
coming around the world. Plus D twenty three is going
to Brazil next and so we're going to be hearing
a lot of things that are teased about what is

(20:16):
coming to South America on behalf of the Walt Disney
Company too. But everything here was incredible. We have brand
new series coming to Disney Plus from Marvel, We've got
new series coming to Disney Plus from Lucas Limited. The
brand new shows that will be coming up there was
a huge spoiler alert if you're a fan of The
Greatest Showman the movie. It is the Broadway and a

(20:37):
brand new thing. We met the cast for the very
first time last night and they performed This is the
Greatest Show from the Greatest Showman Live for the very
first time with the entire major cast. That will be
the inaugural run of that show on Broadway. So that
was just one of the things. It's the twentieth anniversary
of Broadway, so we also had we had Aladdin there,

(20:59):
we had Frozen there, you name it. Everything was really
really incredible. Oh and even cooler if you're familiar right now,
Hercules is in Germany, so it's in It's a Broadway
show that is in Germany, in German and it will
be moving to the London West End. They flew out
the entire cast to be able to put on a
show for us last night and it will hopefully not

(21:19):
one would be eventually coming to the United States for
a tour.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
Wow, you know what, I just thought.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
About it like this, like I'm just knocking it out
to you.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
You're there.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
It was why And I think the thing and if
you are not a Disney fan, you probably or you
know something that you might think this is all silly.
And this experience that happens every two years. So you've
got this D twenty three expos here in Anaheim, and
then the off years we have Destination D twenty three
down in Orlando. And this with Walt Disney Company becoming
such a multi media, faceted juggernauts with print, media and

(21:55):
television and music, and this is where you actually get
to touch things. And I think that's the coolest thing.
We've see some really unique videos from Walt Disney Imagineering,
which is the you know, creative side and where you know,
Walt Disney and Royal Disney started things out when they
were developing Disneyland Park in Anaheim. But you get to
experience these things. You get to touch them, you get
to hear them, you get to taste them, and that's

(22:16):
something that we've never had to do, even and it's
a very expensive ticket. I really get that and I
respect that to go and enjoy some of these incredible
things from the Walt Disney Company. But you go there
and it's a different world. You literally are transported, you know,
not to be too hyperbolic to a different world no
matter where you're going.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
You know, it's interesting when I think about it. The
inspiration for this weekend with Nick came from you joining
me when I filled in for Mo on the Moe
Kelly Show, and you were down at D two three
and you called it and just I had such a

(22:54):
good time talking and we kind of had gotten the
buzz that we may get a Monday through Friday show.
And I just talked to him and I said, Mo,
I don't know if you heard what Nick was on,
but Nick is everywhere, He does everything. He's always out there.
We need to have him on as a regular feature.
Like you were the inspiration for us having regular featured
guests on Later with Mo Kelly. And it was because

(23:17):
of your your reporting from D two three. You know,
this is like what two years ago? Yeah, like yeah,
that is amazing. You know what we absolutely to kind
of like bring it full circle. We have to have
you on Monday on Later to come in and you
know you can't come into the studio, and I hope.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
I will bring some goodies because I know that you
know not to not to spoilers for everybody else, But
I have so many incredible things that have been given
to me or whatever here from so many different brands
that are related to the Walt Disney Company. So I may,
very very likely you want to tune in on Monday
from seven to ten pm. Somewhere in that time period,

(24:01):
I'll be joining Mo Kelly and Twalla Sharp in studio
and we may just have a giveaway with some goodies
from D twenty three.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
Hell yes, my dear, I love it. I love it,
I love you. Thank you for joining us today and
taking us inside D you two three, enjoy yourself, enjoy
it to the fullest, and we will see you on Monday.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
Can I wait to bring you all the details on Monday,
And you can always check me out on Instagram tonight
and through the weekend. Nick Paulie o'keeian This Week of
a Nick, also this Week of a Nick dot Com
or in conversation on YouTube. If you want to see
what the panels look like, we have almost the entire
thing there for you, so check it all out and
again I'll catch you on Monday.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Tuala, Yes, sir, this is KFI AM six forty live
everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
You're listening to soul Cal Saturday with Tawala Sharp on
demand from KFI AM six forty.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Kfive AM six forty Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app
in Sant Bernardino, upland sang Ya, Sinto and Desert Hot Springs.
This is soul Cal Saturday. I'm your host Twaller Sharp,
wrapping up the show with some tips on where you
can go to watch the per sed meteor shower. I'm

(25:36):
into that. I'm into meteor showers. Why because I think
one of those meteors is gonna slow down and stop
and head our way. I don't know. I think media
showers are ways that extraterrestrial life finds ways to infiltrate
the planet. But that's me in my medior conspiracy. Don't
listen to me, all right. The presied media shower is

(25:57):
peaking this weekend and you do not have to travel
that far out of la to see it. The peak
of the shower will start at around eleven pm on
Sunday and ramp up into early morning hours on Monday.
Now to watch, you need to head to the absolute

(26:18):
darkest spot you can find, all right, they say lay
on your back, all right. Experts say you have to
lay on your back and stare straight up at the
sky for forty five minutes to give your eyes time
to adjust, and if conditions are perfect, you can see
as many as sixty meteors per hour. Now, this show

(26:40):
comes from chunks of the swift turtle comet burning up
in our atmosphere, or aliens making their way to our planet.
But that's just me again, that's me and Nori, all right.
The moon should set around midnight. The darker the spot,
of course, the better. And of course I'm an altadem,
so a lot of areas around where I live. I

(27:04):
will absolutely be seeing in some nearby spots that you
can check out Mount Wilson as a decently accessible spot,
sitting at about thirty seven hundred feet above the haze
of the city. You'll find the most locations high up
in the San Gabriels. Yeah, the Santa Monica Mountains. There
are a few dark spots up there, and it might

(27:27):
be romantic. Yeah, yeah, bring a little bottle of Shublee
the Mohave Desert. No, why would you go out there
when it's like a million and a half degrees But
but but but but but there are tons of places there.
Just know, if you go to the Mohave Desert, you
may bump into Satan Why because it's like one hundred

(27:47):
and fifteen in the Mahave. So I don't know. I
don't know if that's where you want to go. I
know many listening today are wondering, Hey, Twala, it's Saturday.
What happened to the small business Saturday spotlight. Well, I'll
tell you what happened. I called, and I called, and
I called again, and then I had producer Canna call

(28:10):
and call and call again. And then she texted and
then she said I'm gonna call again later. And guess
what she did. She called in and again and again
and again, and we did not hear back from Powell
pal Mobile Notary Services where they provide mobile notary services
in Los Angeles, sanm Bordino and Upland. And they are

(28:34):
committed to staying updated on current laws protecting consumers. And
they're a member of the National Notary Association and Notary
Business Builder member and they are part of California League
of Independent Notaries and they're your notary Powell. Unfortunately, they
did not answer their phone, and then they did finally

(28:57):
did get back with you, right, Kenna.

Speaker 5 (28:59):
They did, but we weren't able to schedule.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
Yeah, because why because when the show has already started,
what are you doing? Okay? So, so we did not
have pal on today, but next week, super producer Kayla
has another small business lined up and Kiki is gonna
let us know who it is, Ryle.

Speaker 5 (29:22):
Spinning the wheel. It's Deva Burrera of Prospectors Feneral Credit
Union and they are a small, non for profit local
credit union in Diamond Bar and West Covina. They provide
financial services to the community, including the underserved, and they

(29:42):
are in competition with big banks because they're owned by investors,
but they are owned by their members and are ran
by a volunteer of a board of directors elected by
their members.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
