(00:00):
Hello, and welcome to Sports inthe City. I am Haley and I'm
Sally. And you just asked medo you remember how to do this?
And I you know, talking isnot my strong suit, which is not
good for a podcast coal host. But here I am and I think this
is working. Do we need toreintroduce ourselves? I think so. Hi.
I'm Haley. I'm five foot ten, dark hair, currently wearing glasses,
(00:24):
in a linel Ritchie sweatshirt and yogapants and vans. What about you?
I'm Sally. What color is myhair right now? Kind of red
and reddish blonde right now by five, and I'm wearing a you Got mossed
shirt that from ESPN when they cameand recorded us. Was that Sunday morning
(00:45):
countdown? Yes, they came onESPN. Yeah, they came to the
tailgate in the morning, and sothey gave us these shirts which are like
three x's. They're very cute leggingsand I broke out a fresh pair of
Nike Viking Slides this morning. Myfavorite. I love them. This is
my third pair. They're a littlerevamped this year, got some purple mixed
(01:06):
in. However, when I leftthe house, I did not realize what
myself Tanner looked like. Oh boy, and oh my god, it's disgusted.
It's not a good look for you. It's terrible. No, So
if anyone sees me out on myerrands later, you're a a run.
Yeah, don't look at my feet? Do you remember that one time?
Well? Because you and I loveto run errands together. That's like I
(01:27):
feel like you and I are atour best because you let me drive,
We get Starbucks, you always letme stop, and getting McDonald's die Cooke
too, and then we're just like, let's see where the day takes us.
I guess this shows like how lameour lives were, Like do you
just want to run errands together?Like we had nothing going on and we
(01:48):
had errands? Did we even haveto do? We had no life?
But you're like I got to pickup a rescription from High V and I'm
like cool, yeah, I needsome more gluten free bread and strawberries.
So we're like, definitely have togo to High V Egan, which is
not convenient for either of us.And then you know we'd walk around home
goods, go to Vikings locker roomat TCO. Oh yeah, And I
(02:10):
mean usually total wine too, agreat break, a great launch somewhere.
Yeah, oh that Mexican restaurant andEgan is so good. Which one is
that I don't can't remember what it'scalled, but it's delicious. Anyway,
we're at our best when we're runningAA runs together. But I remember I
tweeted one time like running errands andI spelt it like Aaron and the amount
(02:36):
of people who responded to me andthey're like, you know you and I
capitalized it the entire word. Peopledid not get the bit. I was
like, oh god, I wasso pissed. I was like, this
is funny, and then everyone thoughtI was just dumb. So well,
I guess the story of my lifeis I think something's funny and everyone thinks
it's dumb. It is Twitter slashX yeah whatever. Honest I don't know
(03:00):
what's going on. Kind of pissedabout Elon changing it to X because did
not need another X in my lifeat all, did not need another X.
I'm good on x's for now,and now I got another one that
I got to deal with and I'mentertaining another X, which is a story
of my life. Honestly, Well, I think you might owe me an
(03:22):
apology. Okay, because I thinkI'm vindicated right now on not updating my
apps. Oh god, because guesswhat, I don't have X. You
don't know you still have Twitter.Of course, what if you're just tweeting
into the abyss and no one's seeingit. Well that's possible. But well,
(03:44):
okay, fine, Well I don'tknow. I'm getting more interaction on
Twitter than I have been in thepast couple of months since he took over,
to be honest, but I wentprivate for like five days or something.
Okay, well, you know Heaven'spersonal issues. Well there's that,
and so I went private for afew days and I wasn't getting jack shit
before that. I would get like, you know, twenty seven likes on
(04:06):
a selfie which talk about self esteem. Blow. Yeah, I didn't need
that. And once I went private, I came back like it's it's I
don't know, it's happened again.Wow, maybe I should do that,
not like like I'm disappearing. Yeah, not like it was before he took
over. But so I don't haveX, So okay, I don't update
(04:26):
my apps. I think I gotabout one hundred and sixty right now that
need to be updated or something.Okay, that which actually, how do
I mean to have one hundred andsixty apps that can't be it? I
don't know. But my iPhone hasbeen doing you know that thing where it
deactivates apps that you don't work, that you don't use. Pisses me off.
And every time I need to usean app, I have to redownload
(04:48):
it. Where you why are youmaking that face? I have one hundred
and eighty two app updates jail, but I have to delete one of them
because I don't want people to knowabout that app and it's number two.
But immediately jail one hundred and eightytwo apps to update. Oh my god.
But anyway, at least I don'thave backs. But yeah, why
(05:10):
does it do that? It didthat on my work phone too, that
I was I was going on.I was going to a meeting on Monday
morning and I needed to open Outlookon my phone. I had used Outlook
on my phone on Friday afternoon.I went to open it on Monday morning
to get someone's phone number. Yeah, needed to be redownloaded, like it's
(05:32):
been forty eight hours. Let melive, because I don't I don't know
if you know this about me.I don't look at my work phone,
don't look at my work email overthe over the weekend, I just let
it, let it breathe. Icome back to a Monday morning. That
is when I'm ready to deal withit again. Sick brag that you have
work emails. I know. Bythe way, sorry, sorry, Well
(05:55):
I guess maybe we should get intothat because it's a good transition. Great,
it's an accidental transition, right, love love a happy mistake. So
we haven't done the podcast since thefirst week of March. Obviously, hopefully
a few of you missed us.I don't know, which wasn't planned.
By the way, No, wedidn't. Just like I think a lot
of people probably thought we hated eachother. I think so too percent.
(06:18):
I think people are like, ohmy god, are they still friends?
And yes, absolutely still friends. We did not have a falling out.
We haven't had a falling out ina while. It's but almost a year.
That's it. Yeah. Yeah, that first goalper game really, well,
you're a you're gonna be leaving reallyfrom the Goper game. So I
(06:41):
think we're gonna be good. Yeah, exactly, So I can't cause any
problems anyway, that's a story foranother day. Uh So, yeah,
we I started my job March sixth, and we had done the podcast the
week before, so maybe it wasthe last week of February. Honestly,
Oh yeah. And I love myjob. I'm so happy I started working
(07:02):
for the Chron's and Calidis Foundation, and I feel like I found legitimately my
dream job. I never have theSunday scaries. I really, I never
like Sunday. I had a greatnight. I went out with Lindsay and
Ryan and Violet and we went tothe Muni and like had but I was
(07:24):
I wasn't like, oh my god, I'm driving work tomorrow. I was
actually excited to work and I wasso great. And I don't think anyone
ever thought I would be a personwho loved my job or actually liked working,
but I do. It makes mefeel so happy, and I feel
like I'm truly, I'm truly liketaking back the power that Cron's disease took
(07:49):
from me. And that's because I'mhelping other people. I'm raising money to
help other people, and even thoughI've gone through some things in the last
eighteen years of having illness, I'mworking to make sure that no one else
has to deal with that that, you know, a seventeen year old girl
this year in high school, hersenior year of high school, doesn't have
(08:11):
to go through what I did.And that's what drives me. And yeah,
so I honestly I never thought Iwould have a dream job. I
just was like, I'll just kindof always work. But I love it
and I'm so happy. But whatcomes with that is that for the first
time in my life, you know, when I was working for my parents,
(08:31):
I had things to do, butit wasn't like, you know,
people weren't putting things on my calendarfor me. And now maybe my parents
kind of were, but not thingsthat interfered with the podcast. And so
now working has kind of interfered withthat a little bit. I was very
(08:52):
what we said I was doing wasdrinking from the fire hose when I first
started my job, and it wasI was crazy busy. I was learning
my role, and then I wasalso planning our Take Steps walk, which
took place on June twenty fifth, and it was crazy. I was so
busy. And then now things area little bit slower, so I can
(09:16):
get back into this and kind ofset, not set my own schedule,
but I don't have to be availableright on the dot, you know what
I mean. So you have alittle more flexible, a little bit more
flexibility now that I know my roleand I know how to do I'm not
perfect and I don't know how todo everything, but it's much different than
things were in May. So soyeah, well that I'm super happy about
(09:39):
that. They need to be doinga great job. Everyone. You know,
everyone has been complimenting you at work. You said, everyone's really happy
with your performance, So knock onwhat I keep that going. But yeah,
it's you know, I feel, for the first time in my life
like super driven, and I youknow, I've wanted to do things and
(10:01):
be successful, but I just didn'tknow how to do that. I didn't
know what my purpose was. Ididn't know what I was good at.
I didn't because I've kind of alwaysdone a bunch of different things. And
this is like, oh no,I love this. I love the world
of nonprofit. I love my role, I love the people that I work
(10:22):
with, and I feel super inspiredall the time, which is really amazing.
Like a couple of weeks ago,I was at a nonprofit conference on
a Friday, whole Friday during thesummer, and the whole time I was
there, I was like, I'mso happy to be here, and I
never thought, you know, I'mlike, I could be at the pool
(10:43):
right now, but I'm like,I actually like this. I enjoy learning,
I enjoy what I'm doing, soit's very refreshing and I'm you know,
I've always said I have wanted tobe with someone who's married to their
job, who really loves what they'redoing. And now I feel like I'm
the person who's married to their joband loves it. Yeah, and that
feels really amazing because I just neverthought that would happen for me. So
(11:09):
yeah, So yeah, It's beena very busy few months for me,
and I feel as if, youknow, since I started my job,
I've also taken on a lot ofthings, Like socially, i feel like
I'm kind of never home. I'meither yeah you are, it seems like,
yeah, like I'm either at homedoing absolutely nothing or I'm doing the
most yes. Yes. And Itold myself I would take a break in
(11:33):
August. Well it's August ninth.Hopefully we're getting a nineteen eighty nine announcement
today. Taylor's version tonight. Butanyway, I was like, I'm gonna
really take it easy in August,Like I've got a big trip coming up
at the end of the month.I need to relax, and then football
and a wedding, and I'm justlike, it's going to be crazy.
(11:56):
I ended up at a concert onFriday night, Like my stay at home
bit lasted two days. Yeah,so right, so yeah, but and
actually I was just thinking this,I'm going to see you three days in
a row, I know, AndI was thinking, God, it's been
a while since that. But no, it's been like two weeks. You
know. We were at Country Jailfor three days on which was one of
(12:18):
the most fun weekends of the summer. Like I never thought I would be
a festival person either. Yeah, and we had the best time. So
you got those tickets. Yeah, let's touch on Country Gym just for people
who maybe want to go next year. So yeah, Country Gym reach out
to me in what like February March, and they invited me to go and
(12:39):
they we're giving us these awesome tickets. I think I don't even remember know
for sure what the face value ofthe tickets were, but they were they
were high, and I haven't listenedto country music since, you know,
maybe I was twenty. I kindof moved into my EMO phase a little
heavier than I was a late bloomerwith my emo phase, and I just
haven't listened to it. And Ikept saying these whole like almost six months
(13:03):
ago, Okay, I need tolisten to country. I need to listen
to country, I need to getinto these bands. Well, of course
I procrastinated that, and I justdidn't really know what to expect because same
like you're going to a three dayconcert. But they had, I mean
great headliners like Dirk Spentley was Thursday, Liebrice was Friday, and then we
had to McGaw on Saturday. SoGod, and this event was just so
(13:26):
well organized and it was obviously moreglaring to me because I was I got
promoting Okay, I'm gonna mess thisup Summer Fest. Yeah, Summer Fest
at target Field the weekend before, which was not executed well at all,
and then to go to this,I'm just like, oh God, what's
it going to be like? Butit was so great, Like beginning to
(13:48):
end. They had provided shuttles, which couldn't have been more convenient right,
and everything was Obviously we got thetickets for free, but we did pay
for our hotel, which we stayedat a lovely Best Western Best Western Plus.
Yeah. Yeah, it had aconference center. It was very nice.
No robes though, no robes.I still have the keycard too,
(14:11):
still have the keycard in my phonewallet. And but they had shuttles to
every hotel. The shuttles were brokenoff. There's what like ten or fifteen
hotels around there that people could stayat, so they had different routes so
you weren't sitting on the bus foran hour pre and post show. And
it was oh Claire, Wisconsin.Yeah, I think we said that,
Oh Claire. It was a noClaire. If you don't care, go
to Claire. And we had sucha great time, and we were in
(14:37):
VIP, so our food and drinkswere free. And the food and drinks
phenomenal. Oh yeah, phenomenal. But even if you were paying for drinks,
you assume when you go to aconcert or a sporting event that you're
going to be paying fifteen dollars adrink. When I saw the prices,
they were like seven dollars for atruly, that's been seven dollars. That's
(14:58):
a and the lines for everything youwaited at maximum five minutes max. And
that was a long for us,and we were in VIP but looking around,
none of the lines were very long. No, So that was that
they just did a great job beginningto end. You didn't wait in line
to get in. I was soimpressed with it. And they had all
of these So this was a newvenue for them this year. They had
(15:22):
just gotten this campgrounds. I guessthis festival has been going on for like
thirty years or something. Well, yeah, because Tim McGraw came on stage
and he said, like twenty eightyears ago he was performing at Country Jam.
Faith Hill opened for him, andhe said, I had met her
before, but I really met herat Country Jam, if you know what
(15:43):
I mean. And he's like,oh my god, she's gonna kill me
for saying that. And so itwas so Faith Hill and Tim McGraw met
in Old Claire, Wisconsin, rightand they fell in love. How crazy,
I know. And she did makea surprise appearance and I think I
I shrieked in a person's ear infront of me. I felt so bad,
but I couldn't believe it, LikeI was so overwhelmed. It was
(16:07):
amazing. It was great And wherewas that going with that? Oh?
It was this completely new venue asthe new campgrounds, but they had like
permanent buildings there. So they hadlike this huge bar that we didn't end
up going in, but that buildingwas huge, so you could go inside
and use the restroom and have airconditioning if you needed to. We obviously
had a permanent building in the VIP, which was great. And the only
(16:30):
negative thing that I can say aboutthe entire three days there was it got
so muddy. And that's not theirfault. It's not their fault because they
had all new sod and the weatherwas downpouring. That's the only negative thing
I could say about it. Soif you're a country fan like I would
go again next year, even ifthey don't reach out to totally. It
was so fun. Yeah, andthey've announced for sure that Thomas Rhutt is
(16:52):
going to be there next year. But I would say, you know,
going again, you have to doVIP. I would. I mean,
I thought it was worth the upgradejust because the food. I mean it
wasn't. I mean, the spreadsof food were crazy. It was you
had so many options you never waited. It was Yeah, I had so
(17:14):
much fun. I think I waslike smiling the entire one. It was
just And So I listened to countrya lot when I was younger, Like
every Saturday morning. The old channeldoesn't exist anymore. It's called Great American
Country. Did they did a Toptwenty video countdown? I watched it every
Saturday morning. Loved country music. Then I kind of got away from it
(17:36):
in college and like my twenties, and then last year I went to Eric
Church in Morgan, wall And andthat just opened the floodgates to me listening
to country again. Now that's prettymuch all I listened to, which,
if you've known me for a longtime, that's very bizarre. I listened
to like country music, yacht rockin nineties music, that's about it.
(17:56):
Swift and Taylor Swift, well yeah, she's in a category of brown.
And I just I thought it wassuch a fun weekend. I was really
blown away. I was most excitedfor Tim and Derek's and I was blown
away by Lee Bryce. I thoughthe was fantastic. It was such a
fun weekend. So if you area country fan, and I just I
(18:18):
had Angie. She went to wefest over the weekend and she said it
was just so poorly executed. Theyoversold tickets by sixteen thousand, and she
said leaving was just insane. She'slike, I would never go again and
sixteen thousand, how do you makethat mistake? I don't know. They
(18:40):
was their fortieth anniversary, so Ithink they were trying to do it big
or whatever. I don't know. And they had huge people there. They
had Morgan Wallen, Kane Brown andBrad Paisley. But I'm like, I
would never I mean that sounds likeit would have even been miserable in VIP
if it's that oversold. She's like, it took forever to get out of
there, and she said people werejust crazy drunk. And I don't feel
(19:04):
like anyone at Country Jam was Saturdaywas a little bit more sloppy. Was
a little bit more sloppy, andwe also spent a lot of time out
of VIP that day. It wasmuch more busy on Saturday. That was
timcgaw. But it's still no onewas, especially anybody that we were around
who were getting free drinks and everything. I thought everybody kept it together really
(19:26):
well. Yeah, And I didn'tfeel like it was oversold. We I
mean the two nights that we thefirst two nights, I mean the most
we waited for a shuttle then waswhat five minutes for ten minutes or something,
and then we did wait maybe twentyminutes or so on Saturday, but
they went straight to and from yourhotel, and I was like, this
(19:47):
is going to be such a Ididn't I mean, I knew we would
be drinking, but regardless, Iwas like, I'm not going to use
this VIP parking pass because it's goingto be a disaster getting out of there.
Yeah, we never saw any othercars, like they just set it
up so well for the bus routesthat anyway. Yeah, we'll can talk
about that all day, but highlyrecommend if you checking it out because I
hadn't even heard of it before andit was awesome and it's only I mean,
(20:11):
it took us longer to get there, but that was because there was
an accident on Thursday leaving Minneapolis,so it took us close to two hours
to get there, but coming homeon Sunday morning, we were home and
like an hour and a half maybe, So yeah, it was great.
Yeah, So what's been up withme? Let's see. I think last
(20:33):
show, my puppy had only hadher for like two weeks maybe or a
week. Dolly love her great decision. I know, I was really conflicted,
so I just wanted to update that. It's been so fun having a
dog that I can do stuff withagain and bring her to things, and
she's just a little social butterfly andshe's so great and not even really that
(20:55):
crazy for a puppy, So shehas not been as much work as I
thought she was going to be.I am back in school working on my
undergrad finally. It's been like afifteen year journey for me. Wow.
But I just decided, I guessI technically started the semester. Wait,
I started the winter semester, orI guess that's spring really, but I
(21:18):
just took one class to even seeif I could get it together, and
then summer semester I took a fullschedule, which was a lot because it
was eight week semester. So thatwas very time consuming but very gratifying because
I never thought I was the typeof person that could take a short class
like a compressed class. Yeah,because I just didn't think I could do
(21:41):
that. So to take three atone time and get a's in all of
my class Yes, so awesome. So I am doing that again this fall
semester. Little worried because I havesome crappy classes, but so that's something
I'm working on. And then I'vejust been doing some more serious influence and
saying so been making some money offof that, and that's really that's really
(22:06):
it. So I had coffee withTiffany the other day, which is the
craziest story ever. To Tiffany wholived outside of Chicago and found our podcast
when we first started, and thenshe ended up moving here for work a
few months later. She and Ihave become friends, and so she and
I we said we were trauma dumpingon each other the other day because we
(22:26):
talked. We hadn't talked in along time, or we hadn't hung out
in a long time. So itwas like two and a half hours of
just catching up on each other's livesand we were talking. She we said,
like, you're doing so well atinfluencing, and you're actually good at
it, like you act yes, like the stuff that you're putting out is
impressive, and it's good for mebecause I'm like, that's just not me.
(22:51):
I'm not good at that. Idon't plan like what I put up.
I can't I don't think like that, like yeah, and I don't
necessarily like having to be like,oh, this is what I have to
post. Yeah, and so.But you're really good at making it still
feel natural, like even if youare promoting something, it doesn't feel like
(23:14):
it's yeah or out of the realmof something that you would post. I
hate it when people just like copyand paste, they're like description from the
brand. It's like, Okay,no one's reading that, but thank you.
Yeah, it's been it's been funand same same as you just said,
Like it is kind of like havingthis constraint of something you have to
post. And this sounds stupid acomplain about, but sometimes you just don't
(23:36):
feel like recording that or maybe itdoesn't like go with whatever is going.
You want to post it at atime when it's going to get the most
interaction, and sometimes you don't havethe choice, and then you're like,
oh my god, it is thebrand never gonna want to work with me
again because I only got like tenlikes on that or something. Right,
But it's been good. I havea lot I'm kind of have a scheduled
(23:59):
too many right now, but soI have to work through. But yeah,
that's been good and something I'm reallyexcited about that. I don't know
if I should announce yet because it'sbeen a long process getting this contract done,
but I am hosting a party busto Green Bay for the game on
(24:21):
October twenty nine, So that's gonnabe super fun. It's going to be
really affordable, take us right tothe game, pick us up, and
like I said, you can bringyour own food, drink and don't have
to worry about anything. So Iwill you have to buy your ticket to
the game. But other than that, I've always wanted to do something.
It sucks that it's a noon gameright, used to have to leave so
(24:42):
early, but I've always wanted todo that and not have to worry about
driving or stay. Yeah, sothat'll be really cool and the only down
well if the Vikings win, though, staying is like the most fun part
because you can go to the bar, you go to stadium view and you
(25:03):
just celebrate and it's really fun.But yeah, so hopefully I will have
that ironed out because it's been alot of hangups in this thing. But
net right now. They scheduled itfinally for me, and they scheduled it
leaving at three am, what actuallytwo fifty four am? And I said,
because to get there at nine becauseI guess when they I guess they
(25:26):
assume that we want to like tailgate, And I said, no, absolutely
not. I said, I wantto get there like eleven fifteen, just
in case there's any hiccups and it'slate, which still is early, but
people are going to be drinking onthe bus. Yeah, five hours.
We don't need to tailgate. Weare not getting off at nine am and
tailgating and that atmosphere especially, Iwould much rather sleep and extra two and
(25:51):
a half hours. Yeah. Soit's taken them like over a week to
figure this out because I guess theyhave to pass it on to someone else
in a differ department, and justlike who would want to do that.
Well, that's a big weekend forus. So Saturday night we have the
Crowns and Whitest Evening of Hope Gala, which don't get out of there till
at least midnight, and then thenext morning, yeah, onto Green Bay
(26:17):
And obviously people can sleep on thebus, I mean not me. Yeah,
but you I will be sleeping,You will be social butterflying. Yeah,
I'll be curled up in the backsleeping with my air pods in listening
to Sunday sermons exactly. But sothat that should be fun. So if
anybody has wanted to go to GreenBay or if they're into it, like
I said, it should be reallyaffordable. How it works is like the
(26:38):
more people that book, the pricegoes down for everyone. And it's also
really flexible. You can cancel upto seven days before and get your money
back, and so it's not likeyou know. But so I'm working on
that, so very very exciting stuffthere. I've never purchased a ticket to
go to a game at Lambeaux.I've always that's sounds so ridiculous. Well
(27:02):
I've gone with friends who have seasontickets, so they've just always let me
have one of theirs. So Idon't even know what the Lambo ticket landscape
is like. Well, I think, and I mean obviously you and I
are. We don't know much, but we typically know how to buy tickets
for events. It's here we goanother transition to football. It's so up
(27:30):
in the air. I think howthe Packers are going to do true,
So I'm not convinced that they're goingto be terrible like a lot of people
are. They'll, obviously, Ithink, have a slow start, just
with the you know, the transitionat quarterback. And if they're bad,
I don't think that then their ticketprices are going to be lower. Okay,
but for Vikings Packers it is alwaysusually a little bit more expensive.
(27:53):
But I have never spent an insaneamount or I just wouldn't have went if
that was the case, because likeme and Josh went because twenty eighteen or
nineteen when they tied, it waseighteen because I was I went there too,
and yeah, and we drove thatmorning and came back right after,
which don't recommend unless it's on abusy and it was what. Tie games
(28:18):
to me are the worst, especiallyif you're at it, because there's just
no You put all this energy init for even an extended period of time,
and then you're just sitting there andyou're like, oh, Okay,
you're not mad, you're not happy, You're just like, oh, I
was there with my ex who wasa Packer fan, and he was I
(28:40):
was sitting behind him and he andI had my legs crossed and he kept
like when I was paying attention tothe game, would turn around and Untie
my shoe was like just like pickingon me, and I'm like, come
on, I'm like, I'm whylet me live. I'm trying to watch
football. I don't need you likepicking at me too. Yeah. And
(29:00):
how many kicks did Daniel Carlson missedthat game? Three? Was that it?
I know? But some of themwere overtime? Right? Yeah?
So anyway, I would never havewent to a Week two game at Lambeau
in the lower level if the ticketswere insane. Yeah, especially at that
point in my life. So Imean, I just wouldn't have done it
(29:22):
anyway for a Neon game. Sothey have to They're probably very reasonable,
especially if they're bad. Okay,so yeah, do we want to talk
about the bikes? Yeah? Yes, I don't know when we started.
We've been tiring for about thirty minutes. Oh okay. Yeah. So I've
been a training camp three times. You haven't made it out there yet,
(29:44):
no, And so I think something'skind of going on with me, like
I have all last week. Ihad no energy and maybe you know I
have been doing a lot, butI'm like, I, you invited me
to training camp. You had aVIP ticket, and I was like,
I the thought of leaving my housewas so overwhelming and just thinking about it
(30:10):
drained me. I'm like, Iphysically can't do it. I cannot pull
it together to go to training camp, which is football is my favorite thing
on the planet, and I'm like, I just I can't do it.
And I was so mad at myself, but I was like, Okay,
no, it's good that you're listeningto your body and just not forcing yourself.
(30:32):
But yeah, no, so Ihaven't made it out. I don't
know if I'm going to be ableto make it. I got invited one
day, but I think I havea meeting that conflicts with when practices and
it's the day that the Titans arethere, which I would like to go,
but I just I don't know ifit's going to be feasible with what
I have scheduled for that afternoon.Yeah, I have tickets for two joint
(30:56):
practices, but again, I don'treally know if I'm going to go,
because that's the thing. I don'treally have anyone to go during the day,
so it's just kind of like, all right, I'm sitting here and
love practice and all, but itgets to be kind of like groundhog Day
and less there's another team there thanit's obviously what much more interesting. So
yeah, and most like we go. We'll go to those. But we
(31:18):
have a preseason game already tomorrow night, which is insane. And it's at
nine o'clock, is it? Yes, because it's in Seattle. Oh my
god, I know, so you, me and Lizzie are having a pool
daid right tomorrow night. I mean, I have no offense. I hope
you guys are gone by nine forsure. We'll be home by nine o'clock.
Of course. Oh I was thinkinglike we could have it on and
(31:41):
like just kind of have it itand no, yeah, well that's stupid,
That's okay. But I don't know, I don't really. I think
that this is the most excited I'vebeen for a Viking season in years going
into the season, and I thinkthat's because it is just so unknown what
the defense is going to look like. Yeah, I'm really exciting. You
(32:06):
know the game. How the seasonended against the Giants and the playoffs sucked,
but I was so proud of theteam during the week. How excuse
me during the year that they cameback. They battled so much, they
didn't give up, where in yearspassed they would have just right battle back.
(32:30):
And I'm even more fired up afterwatching Quarterback for sure. Yeah.
I actually still haven't watched that, which I know is not great for someone
that has a sports podcast, especiallyas much as we talk about the Vikings,
but I didn't. I couldn't watchit right away because of this my
(32:50):
school schedule. I just had tocram all of this in in the last
week. And then I always getthis way where when everyone watches something and
everyone tells me I have to watchit, I get like this resistance of
like, don't tell me what todo. I'm not watching that, so
I will watch it, but Ihaven't yet. And it's just I mean,
they were ranked last in defense thelast two years, so I would
(33:14):
like to say it can't get anyworse, which it can't, but last
year we said that and it didn'tmove. So it's just there's so many
new guys on defense. You know, we know what the offense is going
to look like for the most part, the defense is just such an unknown
how that's going to look, andthere's so many young players. I mean,
for the most part, they've gotDenil Back and Harrison and otherwise it's
(33:38):
a lot of younger guys, orit's people that they've picked up in free
agency, like Michael Davenport on shortterm deals more like prove it deals.
So who knows. I know,Brian Flores is actually having them have an
intense training camp. At night practice, they were blitzing frequently and it's like,
(34:00):
when do you see that? Whendo you see that at a week
one or I guess that was almostweek two night practice, But so and
he's very intense, like Kirk is, the offense has been frustrated in camp
because they're like, we're not goingto see this in a real game,
these defenses that they're giving us,So we need to get our kinks out
(34:20):
of the way and get our chemistryand they're just the defense is going hard
on them. So at least thereit seems like there's that motivation, there's
that fire coming from Flores, andhe's been very intense when I've seen him
personally on the sidelines, so it'sgot to look better, and it's just
there's all these position battles. Ofcourse, I left my playbook with all
(34:44):
my notes in the front seat ofmy Mustang thinks, thanks Sally. But
yeah, so I just that's whatI'm most excited about, and I just
love the fresh look of that.So okay, So who do you think
is going to be we missed morethis year bigger missing piece, Adam Feeling
(35:06):
or Eric Kendricks. H you know, I'm gonna say Kendricks, mostly because
obviously he was slowing down and weknow that. But I think from the
leadership standpoint, it's interesting that thetwo vets that are still around are much
more of the soft spoken, leadby example type. They're not the ra
(35:30):
ra let me hype you up kindof guys. Maybe they are behind the
scenes and we don't see it,but they are probably the most quiet guys
that we've had, you know, and we've had him forever at this point.
So I think, especially for youngguys and inexperienced guys, maybe Eric
Kendricks with that role, yeah,of being the locker room guy. So
(35:53):
yeah, I agree with you.I just from a total teams standpoint,
I think Eric Hendricks was more ofa team first person and Adam Feeling maybe
cared a little bit more about hispersonal stats at least last year, definitely,
(36:15):
and I think maybe it was itwas time to cut the cord on
Adam. For sure. I hopehe's successful in Carolina, and he and
his wife did a lot for thecommunity, and I think they're great people.
But I think Adam the vibe andI'm speaking from just a I'm totally
(36:37):
just picking up on this. Thisisn't anything I've had confirmed, but he
just seemed like less of a teamplayer as the few years went on.
And that's that's fine, you know. I maybe a little bit of the
wide receiver mentality where it's a mefirst kind of thing. So I don't
(36:58):
know, I'm I'm really excited forthis year too. I just honestly feel
a little bit like I have beendisconnected from sports in general the last few
months. I feel like, youknow, I've always said I have three
brain cells, and they've been fightingfor their lives and really with learning something
new and learning a new role. You know, all the brain cells were
(37:22):
working towards that, and now I'mlike, I can't even remember half the
stuff. So I'm I'm looking forwardto diving back into football right now.
I haven't focused on training camp andI think once the season starts, that'll
kind of light the fire under me, you know that. Well, that
(37:42):
preseason game where we're going to actuallytailgate next week, and that'll be a
great time and that'll get me backinto football mode. So I'm so excited.
I mean, preseason is preseason, like you can always be so excited
about it. But next weekend, the nineteenth, it's a Saturday night,
seven pm, Yes, under thelights, and so I am very excited
(38:02):
to be able to have that Saturdaynight and we can do like an actual
practice tailgate run through. And Ijust think it's going to be so fun
with a Saturday because everybody's going tobe able to come and not have to
worry about waking up early. Yeah, and just get that camaraderie back of
the squad. Yeah, and thelot will be empty because no one tailgates
for free season, So right, maybe we can play bags. Well,
(38:28):
so you know our our friend Noit's bags. No, I'm actually disappointed
that no, it's bags. Butanyway, I feel like our friend group,
you know, we do spend thebulk of our time together during football
season because it's just assumed that we'regoing to spend every game together, whether
it's home, away, whatever, and then during the spring and summer we
(38:52):
don't spend as much consistent time together, and so I'm excited to get back
to that. Like I love inthe fall that I just know what I'm
doing every Saturday and Sunday. Ilove that there's no well except I have
a wedding and a couple of thingsthat's getting in the way of football,
(39:14):
and I'm like, oh, don'tlove that for me, Like this is
my this is my time. Althoughthe one wedding that I'm in is on
a Friday night and the golfers areaway the next day. They're in Chapel
Hill, So I'm like, Okay, that actually works out really well.
Thanks for thinking of me when youplan that. Well, it's it's nice
when when people consider you when theyplan their wedding. Honestly, I know
(39:36):
it well. Before the golfer schedulecame out and the bride and groom said
that they were getting married on aFriday, I was like, oh,
awesome, and the groom is agolfer football fan. I was like,
I'm getting us tickets for the nextday. That's what we're doing. That's
how we're celebrating the wedding and goingto the game, but the Gophers are
out of town, so you can'tdo that. But so yeah, I'm
(39:57):
just I'm very excited for football. But I so I'm leaving on August twenty
fourth to go on a cruise forten days, so I'll be gone for
a total like thirteen days, andI'm so I'm so overwhelmed already by that.
I haven't thought about packing. Andthen when I come home, then
(40:22):
it's Vikings home opener and my firstgolfer game because I'll miss that first Thursday
one. So I'm just like,I have so much to do. What
day to get back? I getback on the six or seventh, yea
into that. Yeah, and thenso the first golfer game that Saturday.
(40:42):
It's a six thirty game for somereason. And then I have a concert
that night, and then the nextday is Vikings home opener, and then
I have the following Thursday, arehearsal dinner, Friday, a wedding.
That's a lot. It's a lot. It's a lot, I know,
but you know, what I've whatI've started to realize is that it is
a blessing to be busy and tohave things to do and people to be
(41:05):
with, yes, and people whocare, like it truly is like it
is a blessing to have things todo, and I'm lucky that I have
people to share my life with anddo fun things with. But I'm like,
damn it, I'm kind of tired. Like, yeah, I'm tired
thirty five, I'm old lost inthe shuffle of this. I turned thirty
five a few months ago. Iknow, I'm like, oh god,
(41:28):
I have three things I have thenext three days I have to socialize,
and I'm like, oh my god, I'm tired by that. It's all
easy going things, but I don'tknow, it's just anyway. So yeah,
Vikings wide receivers kind of an unknownright now. Who's going to be
wide receiver three. I was reallyhoping it was going to be Rager,
but I don't think it is.That's just like, it feels weird to
(41:52):
say that's an underdog story when it'sa first round pick. But I just
really wanted him to catch on andhe might be the odd man out.
It's speaking of number nineteen. BrandonPowell came over from the Rams. Kevin
O'Connell coached him in twenty twenty one, who never has really, he's been
in the league since twenty eighteen andhe's just had a bunch of one year
(42:14):
stints everywhere. Hasn't had a lotof success, but he has been getting
so many reps with the ones incamp, and I feel like every time
I look up, the ball isto him. So obviously Kevin is familiar
with him, and he can dopunt returns as well. So that's why
I kind of feel like ragor youknow, he was he was doing that
(42:37):
last year, so I don't know. He might be the odd man out.
But well he is guaranteed two millionthough, which is weird, but
that's the end of his like rookiefirst round pick contract, you know.
So yeah, I don't know. We'll see, We'll see. Only time
will tell, right, only timewill tell. I mean, And we've
got new throwback jersey's at the store. Those are so sweet? Are you
(43:00):
going to get on? No,Because every time in the last fifteen years
that I have gotten someone's jersey ora jersey, something has ended up happening
to them. I got a PercyHarvard jersey, his headache, his Migraine's
got really bad. I got anAdam Feeling jersey. He twisted his ankle
(43:23):
was out for a couple of weeks. I got a Teddy two Gloves t
shirt. His legs fell off, like he just Adrian Peterson the year I
got an ap jersey or switch Switchkids. Yes, And honestly, the
amount of people who still lift theirchildren where Adrian Peterson jerseys after that was
(43:43):
kind of appalling. Like a weekafter it came out and he was suspended,
that was one of the vikings. Were at the now Huntington Bank Stadium,
and I'm seeing all these kids andI'm like, not a great look,
honestly, not like too soon.I feel like now, maybe enough
time has passed, Like the moratoriumof switch Gate is kind of people aren't
(44:04):
thinking about it. Yeah, butin the moment, you know, the
the Sunday after he's suspended, Maybewe just keep the jerseys at home,
maybe we maybe? Yeah, peoplestill wear sharp dar and sharpers. Well
yeah, and I don't see themas much because obviously he hasn't been around
for a while. But I wason posh Mark last week, you know,
just looking for vintage Viking stuff orwhatever, and there was a darn
(44:29):
Sharper jersey on there for sale forone hundred dollars. Come on, Like,
first of all, who's buying this? But I mean, I know
people just pick up a bunch ofstuff at thrift stores and they resell it.
So it's not like it's probably evena Vikings fans. Yeah, but
it's like, I don't know,I don't think that one's gonna necessarily sell
(44:50):
and for one hundred dollars no less, right, But I really do like
the jerseys. I haven't tried oneon, and I would like to get
one. I haven't had a jerseyin so long, I mean, Teddy
might be my last one, andI don't really even I think at this
point in life, there's so manyother alternatives to go into a game than
(45:10):
wearing a jersey that look good.Yeah, especially you know for us girls,
we never used to have anything cuteat all, and now there's some
other, some new options. ButI would like to get one. I
they're already wearing it week one though, and I'm not gonna have it by
week one, yeah, And Iwant to try it on before I get
(45:30):
it. And at the store. This may have changed, Dan, So
let me know. Dan Scott letus know. But they only have they
don't only women's they have is thecustomizable. They don't have any like already,
Like I would probably want to Hawkinsonor maybe a kJ I think,
even though that's risky since they don'thave contracts right now for next year.
(45:52):
I think maybe I would have togo Hawkinson for that reason. But I'm
like, I don't want to doa custom because I want to see what
it looks like before, yeah, before I put it on, because Hogginson's
a long name, it is,so it's a mouthful, that's for sure.
You could just do t J.Then it's really custom. Oh yeah,
(46:15):
no, never mind, I don'tknow about that, but it would
be it would be very custom. But yeah, if anyone's getting one of
those, let us know. Andwho are you picking, because it's always
a dilemma. It is, itis. They do have the men's ones
though at the store though, theyhave a lot of different men's ones,
so if go check them out ifif you want one. Well, and
(46:35):
I'm weird, like I would muchrather wear a men's small than a women's
medium because the way that my bodyis, like a men's small fits me
better because I don't know, ifanyone knows this, A little big chested,
and a medium women's medium is tootight across my chest. A large
(46:55):
is too big in the waist,So a men's small is straight up and
down because I'm not super curvy.I'm kind of just like straight up and
down. Like my friends used todescribe me as a boy with boobs like
that. Really, yeah, that'sso mean. I mean it was kind
of a little bit of my personality, a little bit of my body.
You can see the personality. Yeah, okay, and I will say my
(47:17):
butt's gotten a little bigger lately,so it has. Yes, it has
a good way, thank you.Uh so, yeah, I uh yeah,
I'm a men's jersey guy, agal. Now that we have a
show again, we can wear oursports in the City jerseys and we wear
those last year. No we didn't. I don't know why. But yeah,
(47:40):
so excited about that. And Ithink we'll know a lot more about
the team, maybe not necessarily afterthis preseason game, but I think with
the joint practices and seeing who's gettingthe reps, and we'll have a lot
more answers. It's weird how nowthey do all of the cuts at once.
Yeah, whereas in the past, what do they do? Three rounds
(48:01):
of cuts? I think so,I think that changed in twenty twenty with
COVID, and so that I likedthat a lot better because you could kind
of see you weed people out.Yeah, the thinning of the herd,
for sure. So I don't know. I was going to ask who you
were going to pick for mister Mankatoas a prediction, but I think it's
too soon. Too soon? Yeahsoon? Okay, Well, but where's
(48:25):
that? Yeah? I was askingsome people at camp. I was doing
some interviews which I can't post becauseI didn't get enough, and people were
saying, like justin Jefferson, I'mlike, do you not understand the concept
of mister Mankato. Yeah, Iwould ask them first, do you know
what mister Mankato is? Or otherwiseI would have told them, you know,
like, uh, I think Ithink we're good. I don't think
(48:47):
he's eligible. He might, hemight not be eligible this year. That's
one award he's not eligible for,is mister Mako. His eligibility ran out
a couple of years ago, andpeople who don't know what mister Mankato is
it's stuck around as still the namesince they've moved to TCO. But it's
kind of the standout player that isunexpected, or somebody who makes the team
(49:09):
that was like an on the bubbleplay a French guy. Yeah, I
mean like Adam feeling wanted back inthe day before, you know, when
he was at a couple of trainingcamps and didn't make the team, and
then when he did and God,last year, who was it? God
is escaping me And anyway, I'llcorrect it next show. But so it's
(49:30):
supposed to be somebody who's a littleon the bubble, an underdog, and
then they show up and have agreat camp. So we'll see, well
should we wrap this up? We'llwrap this up. Okay. So I
found a quote because I'm gonna endon something obviously that inspires me. I
(49:51):
did remember to do that, andit's a quote from Amy Poehler, Queen
Amy Poehler, and it says, only hang around people that are positive and
make you feel good. Anybody whodoesn't make you feel good, kick them
to the curb. And the earlieryou start that in your life, the
better. The minute anybody makes youfeel weird and not included or not supported,
(50:14):
you know, either beat it ortell them to beat it. And
for me, I've realized that inthe last few months is really surrounding yourself
with people who want more for youthan want more from you. And that's
been really beneficial for me. AndI'm really only spending time and talking to
(50:37):
people who feed my energy instead ofdrain it for me. And it's just
it sucks because a lot of timesyou let people stay in your life and
kind of like cling on, andyou're like, oh, actually, this
is not good for me, Thisis not good for my mental health.
This doesn't you want to leave?Like spending time with people feeling better than
(51:00):
you did. Yeah, and soyeah, that's I thought. Amy Poehler
said that way more eloquently than Iever could. Yes, I love that
quote. Yes, it's okay.Well, homework for anyone listening. Make
sure you watch your hard knocks becausewe never missed an opportunity to rip on
(51:20):
Aaron Rodgers on this show. Yeah, and did you see I did see
a picture on Twitter Homeboys wearing achain get your own bit, Yes,
get your own bit. Oh mygosh, he's such a loser. I
mean he kind of has his ownbit with that In sane tattoo, fun
sane tattoo, and still like myfavorite tweet of all time is from a
(51:47):
Packer fan and it was right afterit was like during the super Bowl and
it was like Patrick Mahomes is gonnawin his second super Bowl on a broken
agle and my quarterback is in thewoods. Smoke can crack in the dark.
It makes me love all the time. I love it so much.
(52:07):
I probably think about it like twicea week, just because I hate Aaron
Rodgers that much. But it's hilarious. I wish we could find that.
I know I'll find it and postit. Yes, I'll find it and
we'll post it because it's brilliant. That's genius. Oh wait, are we
having a show next week? Yeah, we'll have shows the next two and
then we'll have a break and thenwe'll be back. Yeah, because I
leave on Thursday, so we'll stillbe able to do next weeks and the
(52:30):
week after and then I leave Thursday, so then we won't have a show
the thirtieth. Great, okay, perfect, So yeah, everyone watch your
hard knocks because we will. Areyou talking about that? Yes? And
yeah, everyone, have a greatweek. It's been good catching up with
you guys, thank you for joiningus. Well now we can we can
go back to it because it's footballseason. Roll the boat, Skyema,
(52:52):
Go Golfers and skull Vikings by
