Speaker 5 (00:57):
Marlon Wayans, who starred in and co created the Scary
Movie franchise with his brothers, hinted about what movies they
could be looking at to spoof. In Scary Movie six,
he said, there may be something in I Know what
you did last summer.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
The screen franchise, of course, is always a great one.
Classic heretic long legs, Get out in Nope, even Sinners.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Okay, maybe I love the I love the Scary movies.
Those spoofs are so funny. Ferris on the Map so.

Speaker 5 (01:29):
Big, Anna Faris and Regina Hall will be returning for
the new Scary Movie six, expected to be out next
summer June twelfth. I've been seeing more of the side
by sides of the original clips from the original movies
play next to what they did in Scary Movie and
it is so funny.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
That's one of the reasons why the Scary Movies the
franchise is so good, because they they work really hard
to match the scary scenes and they are really good
at what they do. A headlines you got Strawberry locally,
I warned the parents this was coming, and now PopMart
has opened in the arden Fair Mall. So PopMart is

(02:07):
a store that sells designer toys and collectibles. You're probably
thinking them as the retailer of the Laboo Boos. Well,
it's the second Sacramento location in our area. There's a
PopMart that opened up in Roseville earlier this year, but
arden Fair has its own La Boo Boo distributor.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
Now, did you warn the parents this was coming? Because
and don't remember you saying anything to me.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
I warned it. Your kids not into La booboos? Is
he No, he's an anime, but yeah, he doesn't want
people know when he's an anime, so everybody pretends he
doesn't say that.

Speaker 4 (02:37):

Speaker 3 (02:47):
We just want to take a moment with you all
to reflect on the anniversary that is today as we
remember the attacks of September eleventh, about twenty four years ago.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Now two thousand and one.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Now we all remember where we were when it happened.
One thing that I'll remember in the days afterwards is
how empty the skies were not an airplane in sight,
no noise as planes would fly over you. And then
I was in the Bay Area at the time. How
everybody thought they were a target. The National Guard and

(03:23):
the military forces that were all over San Francisco. I
don't know if you guys remember it, but there was
huge tanks and hum v's on either side of the
Golden Gate Bridge and when you would cross the bridge,
you would see this military force because they thought the
Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco was going to be
the next target. I just remember like it could happen anytime, anywhere,

(03:44):
like the paranoia that we all felt after the attack.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
I remember any city that had a landmark thought they
were going to be a target, and that was a
really scary time for everyone. I was in sixth grade,
i think when it happened, and I remember it being
a really, really sad day. I remember the following year
when I went into middle school, we all got brand
new history books and it was already in the history books.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
The events of the terrost attacked on nine eleven was
already in the history books.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
The following year, it was at the very very end,
and I'll never forget being so shocked that something that
just happened, something I actually lived through, was in the
history books. And my son learns about it in school.
He's in middle school now, in eighth grade. And when
he first started learning about it, I remember him asking
me if I was alive during nine to eleven because

(04:32):
they were talking about it in class, and the teacher
told all the students, ask your parents about it, they'll remember.
They'll have a story for sure. And he comes home
and were you alive during nine to eleven?

Speaker 1 (04:43):
What?

Speaker 4 (04:43):
Yeah, that was not that long ago. It's so crazy.
It feels long ago, but it's really not.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Well when you think about it, there's people who have
went through They've gone through elementary school, junior high, high school,
and now college and they work here with the attack.
So it was the same thing when we were learning
about the Vietnam War, and it was something that my
parents and your parents lived through at a time, but
it was ancient history to us because we weren't on
the earth at the time. So insane. Yeah, it's definitely

(05:14):
a day to pause and reflect and to thank everybody
who participated in the stair climb this morning in downtown Sacramento.
I know a lot of gyms are having stare climbs
in honor on their staremasters today. So pause and reflect, uh,
and just remember where you were. And I do like
the fact that after it happened, we all came together
as a country. There was a ton of American flags

(05:34):
on everybody's car, no matter what background or ethnicity you were, like,
everybody had a bond and there was like a trust
with each other. And it didn't bring us to your.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Full show every afternoon whenever you want.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
It's Strawberry and Lizette on Sacramento's New Kiss one oh
seven point nine.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Thank you for being with us. As we paused a
few minutes ago to reflect on the anniversary of September
eleventh and the attacks, there's a big part of our
audience that only knows about it from the documentaries and
from learning about it in school.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
Which is crazy.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
But for a lot of us who lived through it,
today is something that we will never forget. We got
a talkback message from one of our listeners who relocated
to Sacramento from New York. Here's what she said.

Speaker 6 (06:16):
Technically, I'm from upstate New York, so at the time,
I was in middle school and I just remember like
the whole world. It was so scary to watch on TZ.
I remember like going to my next class, they put
like over the speakers that the next one hit and
it fell, and like everyone was crying. Everyone was scared,

(06:37):
you know, everybody like had Sandy in New York City
or whatever and just petrified. So you just don't know
if i'mthing about to happen in my city, Like we
just didn't know. I just remember everything just being like
shut down. I was so young.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Thank you for that talkback message.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
I cannot imagine, like we only know that day from
the other side of the country. I cannot image imagine
being a kid in school while that's happening and it's
like two cities over, yeah, or I don't know how
far away she was, but that must have been ten
times more terrifying.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Absolutely, Oh, I can't imagine.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
I was talking to our girl, Wendy Wild who's on
the air before us, and she was going to school.
I think she was a It was at college out
in Long Island, so just far enough but still close enough,
so she was out there during that time. And salute
to everybody who joined the military or sign up to
be in the fire department or police and the first responders.
There was a huge surge of people signing up and

(07:32):
enlisting afterwards. I mean, you are all heroes, men and women,
So thank you. As we continue to reflect on the
events of nine to eleven that many years ago, I
want to join the conversation.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Sends Strawberry and Lazette a talkback message while you stream
the New Kiss. When I was seven point nine on
the always free iHeartRadio app for as.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Big of a sweet tooth as I have, Like I'm
a junk food junkie, I'm surprised at myself, but I
still haven't tried that d Bay chocolate that's like the
biggest trend chocolate.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Now you're more of like a baked goods sweet tooth.
Yeah yeah, I've also never had Dubai chocolate.

Speaker 5 (08:08):
When I first heard about it, I don't remember when
it came out, but I remember thinking like it sounded
really cool, like Dubai chocolate, and I really wanted to
try it. And then when I actually saw it, I
was like.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Conks, like baby poop. Yeah, it doesn't look appealing or
aptizing to me.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
I'm bringing it up because Costco announced they're doing a
massive recall on their popular Dubai Style chocolates, So I
don't know why they're recalling it. Maybe baby poop related.
I don't know that. But I also saw a TikTok
that warned against being fooled. There's Dubai chocolate and there's
Dubai style chocolate.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
Oh what's the difference?

Speaker 6 (08:47):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
I haven't had either, which again surprised me. I have
a huge sweet tooth. So if you body knows chocolate,
if anybody knows that the hype is real on Dubai
chocolates and Dubai Style chocolate, let us know. If I'm
missing out, if Lizette's missing out, let us know, send
us a talkback message.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
But because I know it's like pistachio chocolate or something,
I think it's got like pistachios in it.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
That's why it's green. I love pistachios, but like that
just doesn't sound chocolated, you know, I don't know. I
don't know either.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
I don't know why I'm missing this train. But there's
a massive recall at Costco's Dubai Style chocolates.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Still be aware, never miss admitted with strawberry Lazette on
Kiss one oh seven point nine.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Stream live every afternoon from three to seven on me
Always Free, iHeartRadio.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
And there's lots of.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Legitimate reasons people get divorced. This has to be the
first for me that I've ever heard of something like
this happening. A couple in Shanghai filed for divorce after
getting married in twenty twenty three, shortly after they had
a baby. I say that because this is all recent,
all because they couldn't agree on what to name.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Their baby boy. I know a lot of new parents
fight over names.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
Imagine the fight over a name like, yes, sure, you
may not agree on the name. I'm sure there's some
sort of debates, But for it to get so bad
that you file for divorce because you can't agree on
a name, like things got that heated.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Did the mom want to name her Christine and the
dad said no, it's gonna be Darth Vader? Like was
it that different?

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Do we know?

Speaker 6 (10:16):
Well?

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Was a boy? First of all? Okay, second of all, No,
I don't know Chris versus Darth Vader.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
The fight god so bad they went.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
To the hospital separately to try to register the names
they wanted. Both were rejected. Their child is now over
a year old and still doesn't have a birth certificate. No,
and the judge is now involved, saying you have until
this time to agree to a name, like we need
to get the ball rolling, guys.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Yeah, wow, this kid is off the grid at this.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
Point, it's just this is baby, no name, yeah, yeh yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
But at what point do you really need to name
the baby? Because they can't start talking or walking away?

Speaker 4 (10:52):
What do they respond to? What do you call the baby?

Speaker 3 (10:56):
Baby?

Speaker 4 (10:58):
It's not a cat?

Speaker 3 (11:00):
I don't know. Yeah, baby?

Speaker 4 (11:03):
Who does that?

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Who does that?

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Streaming live Strawberry and Lazette every afternoon from three pill.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Seven on Sacramento's new Kiss one oh seven point nine
and Kiss one O seven point nine dot com.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
It is.

Speaker 5 (11:15):
Sharon has included a posthumous album titled Eject into his will.
It'll be curated by his wife. He has a new
album dropping tomorrow, by the way, titled Play. His following
album Rewind. He says it's basically done, but we just
don't know when it's going to come out yet. He
plans for the final album released during his lifetime to

(11:35):
be titled Stop Okay and then Eject being the posthumous album.
His will specifies that the posthumous album will consist of
songs from the age of eighteen, and his wife will
select the ten best tracks. He wants to avoid having
his music quote jumbles up and released by others after
his passing.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
So I don't know. It sounds kind of morbid, but
I really like that he's setting this up and that.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
He's doing this for I do too, because after an
artist passes away, everybody fights over like, well, if they
were still here, would they like this album? Would they
put this album out? Ed's like, yes, here it is.
When I'm done, hit send and put it on the internet.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
But it's interesting that all the album titles, uh huh,
are you know play rewind? There's probably gonna be like
a fast forward somewhere, yeah, and that he already has
it plans. His last album is gonna be Stop and
then his posthumous album's gonna be e Jet.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Like doesn't that sound like it's gonna happen soon.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
No, I'm glad that he's taking ahead, though I don't know.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
It just kind of sounds like he has things in
order here for something. You know, are you picking up
what I'm putting.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
Down a little bit. Let's dive into Ed Sheeran conspiracy
theory next, like you got Joberry Well. Locally, the California
Brewers Festival is back. There we go. It's gonna be
its thirty first year this Saturday, Discovery Park. It's gonna
go on from A one to four featuring tastings of beer, wine, cider,
in kombucha of course, sake of food, trucks, games, live music,

(13:05):
all proceeds benefiting programs that supports Sacramento's children and youth.
So put some sauce in your blood this weekend for
a great cost.

Speaker 6 (13:13):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
That's Hella headlines on Sacramento's New Kiss one oh seven
point nine, and we will hear Lazette's Ed sheeron conspiracy.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Theory The Strawberry and Lazette on Sacramento's New Kiss one
point nine.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
I want to dissect ed Scheron's albums okay really quick,
so we know he likes themes.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
His new album Coming Out is Play.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
It seems like this theme of next albums are like
tape recorder functions right. His new album Coming Out is
Play is another album rewind that he says is already done,
but it's not out yet.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
We don't know when that's coming out.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
He put it in his will that the last album
of his lifetime, yeah, will be Stop And then his
posthumous album is already being planned.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
That's going to be titled Ejet Ejects.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
He's out of here, he's gone.

Speaker 5 (14:03):
I think all that's left is we fast forward. Uh
huh at Google tape recorder functions. I couldn't remember off memory.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
Okay, is he trying to tell us something like? Is
he on a time limit?

Speaker 3 (14:14):
Here?

Speaker 4 (14:15):
I'm very like, it's very eerie.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
It's weird that you're already planning your own posthumous album,
and it it lines up with the theme of like
you said, like a tape recorder or CD player. Yeah.
Are you speculating that he may be dealing with something
and his time is is not long?

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Doesn't he have like a burial already built on his Yes.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
I was gonna bring that up. He had constructed some
sort of like mausoleum or like cemetery. When he passes,
he's going to have that on his property. He already
had that pointed out. So is he trying to tell
us something like?

Speaker 5 (14:53):
Maybe he's just trying to finish these albums and then
once he's done and he's satisfied, all right, guys, I'm
here is complete.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
I've done everything I needed to.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Do right off from the sunlight.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (15:04):
I hate to say this out loud because I love
ed Sharon, But what an icon if this is what's happening.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
I know, I know, right well, we hope the best,
and we hope that he's just like, hey, look, I
got two more albums in me. Then I'm gonna retire.
And then years down the line, him in Cuba, yeah,
with Tupac, Like.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
What if AgeX comes out and then he just chilling
in Cuba?

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Like good point, I don't know, that's excellent. He's gonna
stand out.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
Trust me, as a pale redhead, you stand out in
certain places. We will find at cheering in Cuba.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
The full show, every afternoon, whatever you want, It's Strawberry
and Lizette on Sacramento's New Kiss one oh seven point nine.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Every afternoon, at this time, we give you your daily
dose of good news. We call it What's Good with
Strawberry and Lazette on Sacramento's New Kiss one oh seven
point nine and here's something we can all feel good about.
Time Magazine has just named its twenty twenty Kid of
the Year. Did you miss any calls or emails or
text messages from Time Magazine? Lasette? Is your son part

(16:07):
of the nominees? Yeah? Okay, arthe is. Well, I hate
to break it to you. He probably came in second
because Kejavi Minaj is a seventeen year old girl from Texas.
She's dedicated her time to helping the elderly from falling
victims to scammers.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Wow, any relations to Nicki Minaj.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Possibly accept it spelled different and absolutely not. Her passion
for the cause started when she saved her old grandfather
from losing two thousand dollars to a scammer last year.
And then she said, you know what, this probably happens
to the elderly. A lots their ripe victims, prime for
the taking. So then she created the Shield Seniors dot

(16:47):
Com website to help educate seniors and help them feel
less alone and embarrassed about potentially being taken advantage of.
So she's putting this out there on her own time
and a. Time Magazine has named her twenty two twenty
five Kid of the Year. Wow. Yeah, scammers getting smarter
and smarter, and there's more and more people to scam
out there.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
The younger, the young gins are getting smarter and smarter.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Also, yeah, absolutely good job. We love that. Congratulations. I
want to join the conversation.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
Send Strawberry and Lizette a talkback message while you stream

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
