honor her father. Sonora's dad was actually a Civil War

remembers Father's say, being at when he was small.

Sonora Dodd went to a Mother's Day church sermon and
she said, you know what, there should be a father's
Day also if there's a Mother's Day she wanted to
honor her father. Sonora's dad was actually a Civil War
veteran and he was a single dad.

He raised six children on his own.

So Sonora is at.

Church with her dad who raised her, and she said,
you know what, Dad, it's Mother's Day, but there should

and they started honoring dads in her home state of
Washington the next year, in nineteen ten, so it was.

Kind of localized. She continued to campaign for it. It
wasn't until nineteen seventy two, geez, that Father's Day became
an official national holiday. And remember she had this idea
back in nineteen oh nine. So someone do the math
on that.

That's you know, I'm gonna ask my dad if he
remembers Father's say, being at when he was small.

Yeah, because he went from there's a whole generation here. Yeah,
I'm not having it to now it's a thing, right.
