Speaker 1 (00:23):
Bad A little ride on the love roller coaster to
(00:48):
kick off this episode of Studio three one three. We've
been out for a while, but we're back. First episode
of twenty twenty five. Myself and Dylan. We're on our
way out of school here, so we've only got so
many more days.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Left to record.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
We're both we're both second semester seniors. We're getting old.
We're on our way out.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Man, perfectly.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Oh, Daniel had me muted on their mind. Oh there
come Dylan. I promise I love you. That was that
was simply a misclick misclack man.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Oh man, Yeah, we're back around. Uh a little six
week break. Uh. Title of this episode New Year, New Energy.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
New Year, New Energy. We're bringing it back with a vengeance.
A vengeance for entertainment. Entertain man, because I I'm not
a big New Year's Well, before we get any further,
welcome back to this episode of Studio three one. Welcome
back to Studio three one three, this particular episode, New Year,
New Energy.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
We're back.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
I'm joined as always by my lovely co host, Dylan Sash.
I'm Deuce, as I'm known on the airwaves. We're coming
at you as always, live from Anderson Hall, home to
Nebraska's College of Journalism and Mass Communications affectionately known as
the co j MC. Right here, smacked in the middle
of the University of Nebraska Lincoln's city campus, in the
(02:03):
heart of downtown Lincoln, I guess, not necessarily in the
heart of downtown Lincoln.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Downtown.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
I'd say the heart of downtown is like the intersection
of like ten Oh, yeah, I was. I was gonna
say eleven an hour or tenth an hour, or maybe
like even the Haymarket.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Area, maybe even tenth and R.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
So we're maybe not quite.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
In the heart of downtown, but we're a few blocks over,
so I consider it to be close enough if.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
You would either way.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
We're we're in We're in room three one three right
here and Anderson Hall, as always, and we're kicking off
that song. I need to I need to address that
song with you because it's the subject of an urgent
urban legend, and I.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Want to get your opinion on it.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Because we we we heard only the introduction. That song
was a number one hit by the band Ohio Players,
originally featured on their nineteen seventy five album Honey. It
was a number one US hit in January of nineteen
seventy six, so almost.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Fifty years ago. It was certified gold.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
So it was it was a smash hit, but it's
been the subject of a persistent urban legend. When you
I hop the song and go on to its Wikipedia article,
it says the song has been the subject of a
persistent urban legend since its release. A primal scream is
heard in the background fairly early in the song, and
according to the most common legend, it was the voice
(03:20):
of an individual being murdered live while the tape was rolling.
Jimmy Diamond Williams described the innocent nature of the scream.
There's a part right in the song where there's a breakdown.
It's guitars, and it's right before the second verse, and
Billy Beck does one of those inhaling type screeches like
Minie Riperton Ripperton Minie Riperton did to reach her high note,
(03:42):
or Mariah Carey does to go to octaves above. The
DJ made this krack and it swept the country. People
were asking us, did you kill this girl in the studio?
And this is the best part. The band took a
vow of silence because you sell more records that way
you sell more records. Because my dad is the one
who's said, listen to this song. There's a legend about it.
(04:02):
Without the legend, I may have never heard the song.
And I want to get your your opinion on this,
on this screech, tell me what you think it sounds like,
because I got it ready here, so I'm gonna cook
it up. I'm gonna turn our volumes down and I
think I think it should go right here.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
So that.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Did you hear that?
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Yeah? I heard that personally to me, it doesn't sound
too much like a scream, like it's very faint and
in the background while you were talking, I looked I
looked something up as well, just to get an understanding
of it. Obviously. Uh. This song from the album Honey
on online. It was also said that the model featured
(04:50):
in this cover was hurt by the hot Honey to
damage her skin and scars that ruined her modeling career.
Wow Ohio players recorded Love roller Coaster. The woman burst
into the studio threatened to sue the band. The band
manager stabbed the woman in the control boot. The woman screamed,
died in place, and that scream is what's heard on
(05:11):
the song now, none of that has to be true. No,
it's like, okay, I could I could understand her being
like you burned me, I've got this scar. I'm assuming
you guys, But I like she would.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Burst into the studio all pissed off and start screaming
while they are recording. That's only gonna anger them further
exactly and make them less likely exactly.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
But I don't feel like that that was much of
a scream. Now, I understand like the fact that it
could be, but it like more reminds me of like
I don't even know, like it's more.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
I can't I can't really describe the noise because it
is is one of those inhaling type screeches like like uh,
like Jimmy.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Diamond says, I don't know what it is.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Yeah, I'm not even gonna attempt to replicate the sound
because my voice doesn't go that high.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
I simply don't have that.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
I was just saying I don't have that same deals
as well.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
No, I don't have the vocal range.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
I'm not even somewhat close to Billy Beck or any
of these other folks from the Ohio players.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
I don't have that kind of.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Here's what it is the truth. The scream of the
song is a high note sung by keyboard. The keyboardist
Billy Beck band initially chose to remain sound about the rumor,
but drummer Jimmy Diamonds revealed the truth. So basically, any
press is good press. The scenario is what it comes
down to, because think about how many people were like,
I have to hear that, I need, I need to
know that scream.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Oh, it's genius. It's brilliant marketing.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Yeah, it's genius.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
The legend Okay, and then here here, here's another thing
after you after you bring the song and read more
about it. The legend appears do have evolved from an
incidental comment made by an unidentified Berkeley, California disc jockey
YEP during a radio broadcast probably in late seventy five
or early seventy six. Its spread and mutated in several variations,
(06:56):
probably as a result of Casey Caseum having repeated it
on nashly syndicated radio show American Top forty in early
seventy six. So, yeah, and it goes on to talk
about what you just talked about. The album cover the
model had honey that got on her skin. Damage from
skin ruined her modeling career, and she went in, stormed
into the studio, got murdered in studio, and bam that
(07:19):
you got the legend, You got the screech. Yeah, and
you gotta you gotta certified number one hit on your hands.
It's genius marketing. It's a great song. I'm glad. I'm
glad that this bizarre legend actually took place, because otherwise
I probably wouldn't have heard such a great song. And
think about it, some some random DJ, I mean, my dad,
before he got a start in sports talk radio, he
(07:40):
was a DJ, some guy just like him making a
comment which is probably like.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Dang, it sounds like somebody was really getting stabbed in there. Huh.
You can hear that screech? Oh boy, And now onto
our next song. We're gonna go on to some new
queen or something like that. Yeah, just a random comment
like that totally transformed.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Someone just skipping songs through. But it's one of those
were like, you don't think it means anything. Now, it's
a comment that no one thinks about until everybody's talking
about it.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Yeah, until word of mouth and it spreads from person
to person. Could you imagine this during like the social
media age, like with instul of God, or it would
blow up in seconds this legend, and it probably took
a little longer back in the day, but still just
a phenomenal song, probably as long as we've ever taken
to talk about the song that intros an episode, but
I had to get your opinion and thoughts.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
I think it was a good idea on the urban.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Legend someone was murdered in studio.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Now we've talked a little bit about the love roller coaster.
But it is a new year, and I don't know
about you, Dylan, but I'm not a big New Year's
resolutions person. I have never sat down on my birthday
New Year's Day and you know, okay, jotted down some
resolutions on a piece of paper or typed them up
on a Google document or a word document, whatever whatever
(08:51):
it is. I'm just not a big resolutions person. I
don't really like to do that. I kind of just
go into the year and I really take one day
at a time. I don't really have any broad overarching
goals really. I guess one goal that I have is
to find employ find employment, unemployment.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Yeah, after graduation.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Hey, if you if you need somebody, hollered at Daniel
and I both of us looking for full time employment
come May twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Please employes, please please, please, please please.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
I'm begging you.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Hey, we'll take We'll take a job in your studio.
We'll take a job. Hey, we could be the clown jesters.
We can a professional Well god, what's it called? You know,
like back in the day, I say, back in the day,
like I like, I know, but like the oh professional
water cooler boys, Like we'll sit there, we'll just talk
at the water cooler.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
You know what I'm talking about. Well, someone's got to
keep the office morale.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
I'll do anything, even if you don't give me a
job and pay me like an actual salary.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Just just give me something. Man, at you ever been
in Huddle. I have been in Huddle, so you.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Know upstairs, Huddle has their like giant break room.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
And for those who don't know, Huddle is a company
that's headquartered right in the Haymart district of Lincoln. It
is a Lincoln it so it's a Lincoln based company
that provides tools for coaches and athletes to review, like
sports footage and get recruited, YadA, YadA, YadA.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
But anyways, Huddle Huddle, they have this like massive breakroom.
It's on like the seventh floor, giant conference room and
everything like that. Yes, but they have just snacks galore,
and it's all you know, it's name brand, it's that
good stuff. You got them rice crispies, them Welch's fruit snacks.
I mean, you're you've got them Capri suns, You've got
(10:29):
full sized coke cans, like all of that good stuff.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
I take fifteen dollars an hour and free snacks. That's
what the snack bar, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
I'll sit there and make sure that everything looks all
pretty and nice and neat.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Just make conversation with the employees, you know that, and
that could be your way to sort of muscle yourself
into a job there. You know, if you talk with
enough employees about snacks, soon you're you're going beyond snacks
and you're talking about, hey, what are you doing in
your day to day job? What what what improvements could
you see within the office? And then bam, you're recruited.
You're employed at Huddle, So so we'll take anything.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Yeah, Honestly, at this point time we'll take anything.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Because this now, as much as we love the podcast gig,
I don't think this is gonna.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Be Daniel, I don't think we've got a paycheck yet
from the podcast. I know we've how much, Joel, how much?
How much money have we made on this podcast? An
not a nil, zilch zip zero. We've made nothing.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
We've We've lost a lot of time, you know, making
the podcast. I've spent a lot of time editing. But
boy have we had some laughs.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Hey, we've had a good time though.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
And boy have we looked good while doing.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
We had sandstrucking Gino on like that was a good green.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
We've got plenty of green. We've got plenty of fun.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Body had uh dash Ol and Cayden, We've got plenty
of great games.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
But we did, we just haven't had it takeoff like
we need to. So finding a job that's probably the
top of my New Year's resolution, and this isn't really
I'm gonna attempt to run the Lincoln Marathon the first
weekend of May. It's on Sunday, May fourth, And Dylan
over here, this young man is running.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
That have marathon first time ever and I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
If you can necessarily call like I want to run
the marathon in under three hours, which is that's for someone.
If I get into the shape that I know I
can be in, it's doable. I just need to execute
in like my training every day six days a week,
get out there and run.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
It's six days a week. You're running six d six
days a week.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
I'm running.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
I'm not running six days a week.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
And I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Can you count like I want to run a marathon
in under three hours, because that's not really a resolution
that you can like perpetually, Like you can't go out
and run a sub three marathon every day like a
lot of people resolutions. It's like, oh, I want to,
you know, meet new people, so you can go out
and talk to someone in the in like in a restaurant.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Or a bar or a coffee shop every day.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
But I guess with a sub three hour marathon, it's
not like you just sit on your butt for four.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Or five months straight and then show up to the
marathon and run, like.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
I have to work for it every day, So I
guess just staying in shape is sort of That's That's
what I'm doing on the path.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
I come maybe marath fun runner.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
It's tough because like your your New Year's resolution could
be more so like be more consistent with my running,
right because like I feel like it's really easy to say,
like I'm going to run a sub three minute pace,
and then like some days you're putting out there like
and I know, like good running pace or good running
is not necessarily a hard pace all the time. You've
got your easy runs, your long runs, your harder runs.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Today I was going slow like molasses.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
That's what I'm saying after this podcast, that's what I
will be doing a solid five miles, nice and slow,
about a fourteen minute pace, because that's how the fellow
runs these days.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
You gotta start someone gotta start somewhere ground and zero.
It's got to start somewhere.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Hey, exactly. But like at the same time, like I think,
once you get to the point where you're like, hey,
like I can run a three minute sub three hour marathon,
you've already done all that training. You just keep running that, yeah, exact,
And then I think you build off of one. That's
like why now I went sub three, Let's go two
forty five, Let's go two thirty let's go to fifteen,
let's go two.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Yeah, and then.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Eventually Daniel's running the world record pace and he's skin
and bone.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
In a few years, I'm going to be lead Kip Chogan.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
I'm gonna weigh like one hundred and ten pounds and
I'm gonna be breaking world records. Yeah, like it's nothing.
I'll eat five minute miles for breakfast. That's what I'll
be doing in a handful of years. But I guess
a sub three hour it's it's kind of a resolution
because I mean, I have to train very consistently, So
that's I guess the resolution is to train consistently and
(14:21):
the end goal objective is to run an under three
hour marathon.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
So seek employment sub three hour marathon.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
And I guess one more thing is that I want
to just I talked about this with my friends from Minnesota.
I feel like our generation and I'm gonna put on
my boomer hat. I'm gonna sound like my dad here
for a second. But people just people just don't talk
to each other as much as they should.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Yeah, And I know that sounds like a very broad thing.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Let me let's narrow it down a little bit, right, Okay,
When you say talk to each other, do you mean
like face to face or just like meaningful conversation, because
I feel like the phrase like talk to each other
could be could be a lot.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Face face to face is more of what I mean.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
I'm with you on that.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
So much of everything between our generation, you.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Know, oh these dark kids.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
So much between our generation happens over the phone, like
every like talking even I've seen a lot of couples
that I know have like very major, like relationship altering
conversations over the phone. And I've I've done it too
in my previous relationships, and everyone does it at some point.
But so many conversations that are traditionally held in person
(15:29):
that I think are important to be held in person,
so much of that has done over the phone now.
And I think that just having the ability to chop
it up with randoms has become completely lost by our generations.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
I would agree. I think that skill is something that's lost.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
So I think my goal that I'm going to start today,
And I guess I made this resolution.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
Really or a little late New Year's resolution.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
So it's it's it's a it's a late New Year's
resolution on January twenty fifth, So I mean better late
than ever. But I'm going to try and talk to
one brand new person to day. And it could be
something as simple as making a couple comments as I'm
like standing by him and like walking down the stairs
or in an elevator or something, or it could be
you know, I actually try and sit down and have
like a legitimate conversation.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Have you seen there's some guy on TikTok. I've seen
it a bunch rest in peace but not gone actually.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
But gone for about twelve hours and that was back
and that was back.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
But the guy, there's some guy on TikTok that his
whole thing is like to get more. He had a
lot of social anxiety, and his thing was every day
he's going to make his goal to talk to one person.
And at first it started by just being like, hey, man,
I like your shoes. That's all it was is something quick, easy,
and everybody's like yeah, like yeah, like that's how you start.
(16:42):
And then now you look at the guy and he's like, man,
like I love the shoes, and then they have a
conversation about the shoes, and you could just see that
like he's grown a lot, and I think stuff like
that is so true. Now, I won't brag to my
own horn or anything like that, but I feel like
I'm pretty personable. I talk to a lot of people.
I'm not afraid. You can ask my parents about it.
They know, like they know I'm a yapper. I'll talk
(17:03):
to myself against a brick wall. But like there are
some times where like things like that are necessarily hard. Like,
but I think you're right. I think a lot of
people in our generation have kind of shied away from
the whole. Like I think a big thing of it
you kind of see it now is like this is
completely different, but like same story. Is Like a lot
of people talk about how like people only meet people
(17:26):
through like dating apps now, right, like no one wants
and no one wants to talk to each other like
face to face or in person, Like obviously those are
the same things now that I said those, I realize that.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
But I've I've never downloaded a dating.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
App, neither of I like I have. I it sounds
bad to say, but like I don't want that to
be how I meet somebody. I would much rather like
obviously the whole saying, like it's been said before, is
like if you meet somebody in a bar, They're probably
going to stay in the bar whatever something like that.
But like at the same time, it's like you got
we gotta get more comfortable being like like, I'll admit it.
(17:59):
There's been times in which I'm walking through Target, I
see a cute girl and I'm like, oh wow, like
I should go talk to her. But then I'm liked,
not not in a target, Like why would I Like,
no one wants to be talked to at a.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
Target, just trying to get a shop. And then I yeah,
And it's.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Like one of those things where it's like back in
the day, like my grandparents, my grandpa and my grandma.
My grandpa saw my my grandma out at the local
store sure and literally or I think it was a
burger joint some something like that, the diner, and my
grandpa walked up to her and was like, I think
you're cute. I want to take you on a date.
Are you free this Friday?
Speaker 2 (18:32):
And and the rest is history.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Now they've been married in a long time and I
been going through it, and so it's like one of
those deals where it's like back then, like that was
that was how you did it. There was no other
way versus now, I think a lot of people do
take kind of a cop out when it comes to
like dating apps. I'll just meet someone on like yeah,
like like this will show me. Like the problem is
they're like, well this was, like this has got to
be this is so much better than in person because
(18:54):
it shows me everybody. But it's like yeah, but like
your connection then is based off of photos and.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Profile, a profile that is a total facade of who
you actually are.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
It can be nothing similar to what you are.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Not at all, right, and it's it.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Is a lost art just being able to go up
and talk to someone in person and like the store
thing that you were talking about earlier, Like when you're
you know, going out shopping and you see someone like
that you might be interested in, but then you just say, ah,
you know what, I don't want to bother this person.
But there really never is anything wrong with doing what
your grandpa did, just going up and saying like, excuse me,
you know, I don't want to bother you, but like
(19:31):
I don't waste your time, but I think that you're
a cute I'd love to take on a day get
to know you better sometime, you know, if you're interested,
like I'll give you my number, let's do this. There's
nothing wrong with that, but it's I think as we've
gone more online, our generation has we've lost the ability
and desire to do that because, like you said, you
(19:51):
can just do it online instead, like, ah, too much work,
too scary. Yeah, So I think talk to new people.
That's my resolution, my three. I think that's a solid
the big three. I think that's a good one. Find
a job, sub three hour marathon, talk to new people
every day. I think that's that's a solid list. Now, Dylan,
you're obviously going to be running that half marathon. Do
(20:12):
you have any other New Year's resolutions besides running and
seeking employment?
Speaker 3 (20:16):
My well, seeking employment obviously in there. The running definitely
in there. I just kind of locked that one down.
With consistent training, Yeah, that's kind of where I was.
I noticed in these past couple couple of weeks and whatnot.
I mean, even coming into December and end in November,
that I was really struggling to have even like I
(20:38):
used to I'm people on here, No, I struggled to it.
Was a big lifter, loved to go into the gym,
loved working out, and I struggled to take enjoyment in
the gym again, and so I moved from That's one
of the main reasons I signed up throwing the marathon
is like I wanted to get to a point that
was kind of feeling that goodness again. Like and I
I don't want to say, I hate to say it. I
(20:58):
was bad, but the like the runners high. Yeah, I
definitely know like what people are talking about now. Even
in these past couple of days it's been freezing outside.
Boys been putting in that effort the dreadmill. Hate it,
but at the same time, got to keep running, got
to get it done somehow. But for me, consistent training
and then I've been focused or not focused, but really
(21:20):
working towards like a self improvement, whether that comes from
active running, actively working out, trying to eat a little
bit better, but then also like doing things to better
who I am journaling. I'm not a huge journaler, but
I'm a huge Like I've started listening to a lot
of podcasts that talk about like general wealth, general like
(21:42):
improvement of your body, your mind kind of get into
a place to where like you can like be the
person you want to be, not be the person you are.
Health as wealth that's a good one as well, and
so kind of looking down and trying to find ways
that maybe I can improve who I am and the
person that I am. I think that's a big one
for me as well. Obviously, that's something that takes many
(22:07):
of days, many of many of times, and I think
that you can always continue to improve yourself and become
the person that you would want to be. But I
think everybody could benefit from that health as well.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
A little bit of self improvement can go a long way,
even just taking little steps like journaling, for me, is
something that's helpful. Everyone's got their own outlet to, you know,
help themselves be better mentally, physically. But whatever you want
to do, just do something. Do a little something for
yourself today. People, anyone who might be listening to all
I don't know, I don't know how many listeners Forgetting
these Days episode, all one hundred thousand of you, all
(22:41):
one hundred of you, all four or five of you,
you know, just.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
Shout out mom and dad. Shout out mom and dad, shout.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Out the folks who were saying, hey, guys, listen to this.
Please we put some effort into this, so please please tune.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
Hey, my parents My parents love when we record stuff.
They love listening to.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
There you go, So anyone who's listening to do a
little something for yourself. Do yourself a favor and relax.
You know, maybe eat a little bit.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
Of junk that I know.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
We were just talking about healthy eating, but eat eat
like a nice chocolate chip cookie, a little brown or something,
get a sweet treat, watch an episode of your favorite
TV show. Everything is good in moderation. Everything is good
in moderation. Just just just take care of yourself.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
Have that cookie that makes you feel good, but don't
have twenty cookies because that will make you not feel good.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Correct that will one cookie will bring you plenty of joy.
Twenty will bring you to the bathroom. Yep, and you're
not gonna have a lot of fun in there, I
can tell you.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
Yeah. But self improvement, self improvement, that's where it needs
to be.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
That's the biggest common theme.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Those are some of our resolutions New Year knew us
and I suppose one resolution that we could both do
or both try. And I suppose one resolution we could
both try and stick to is trying to record on
a consistent pace.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Yeike.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
But we we got our last semester at college. So
we've got all the things to worry.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
About, like having a good graduation and finding employment, finding
employment because the EPA is making sure we don't fail,
and no one wants a summer class.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
The Studio three one three podcast ain't gonna pay the bills.
It's just not happening because for now, my parents are
still paying for just about everything I do right here
on this campus.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
And I've still got the dining plan. You know, i'd
be going to.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
Cather Dining big shout out to Cather, because a fella
can't cook. I'm gonna try and get there eventually, but
for now, I'm still on the dining hall, and sometimes
I'll just go out to eat. Sometimes I'll go out
to Costco and get some of the big taking bake
stuff and.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
The taking bag stuff is so good.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Outside of Cather, I have also gone to Subway quite frequently.
Subboy's a big, big restaurant.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
Honestly on campus. I good sense, good sense, good sense,
good sense. There's a good sense on twenty seventh and Rudolph,
twenty seventh and Randolph, Randolph, Randolph. I know exactly where
you're talking. You know what I'm talking about Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's also one out by my house, and there used
to be one out by my house in Omaha, by
my mom's house right right closed. That's all right though.
(24:54):
There's one here in Lincoln. Love it. It's so tasty.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
I might have to try it out sometime. But subway
being on camp, that's just the most convenient option. And
I'm I'm I'm a subway ride or die. I think
that if you hate it, make a better sandwich, it
is your fault.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
It's a skill issue.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
You don't have to order off the menu. That's the
whole point of subway. It's customization, it's making your own thing.
And I'm I'm pretty standard when I go to subway,
I don't customize like crazy.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
I get usually a BLT or a BMT.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Sometimes I'll get a breakfast sandwich in the morning if
I'm feeling dangerous. But I had a subway incident last
semester that I have thought about almost every day between
last semester and now, this has been like two two
and a half three months that I've been waiting to
talk about this, and now it's finally here. Now we're
finally on the mics and I can share with you
my dissatisfaction in the subway.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
Did you share your dissatisfaction with Subway Corporate?
Speaker 2 (25:46):
I did not share my dissatisfaction with Subway corporate. I
think Subway Corporate has.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
Bigger challenges, like you know, keeping their dying brand alive,
because I think Subway is struggling right now. I mean,
that's why they're That's why I think they're resorting to
like you know, they got like all the bowls and
stuff and just throwing out foot long cookies and stuff.
They're running out of ideas. I agree in my case.
One day I went and got a six inch BLT.
Used to be the five dollars foot longs Now they're
the six dollars six inches. It's it's really sad we
(26:12):
we've I think we're failing as a country. But I
got this BLT right and I ordered it and I
put this up. We have a little Google document, you know,
plan our episodes there. I say plan very loosely because
it's like.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
Four bullet points, nothing else on that.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
That's it. It's it's it's, it's it's right.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Now, right now. We got a screen shot of Daniel's
menu where he felt slighted.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Because I think it's slighted. Oh you want it?
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Okay, So I ordered a BLT and it when you're
going through the ordering process on the app.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Yeah, well everybody knows BLT bacon, lettuce, tomato, right, And.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
It goes through the ordering process that you go through
on the app. First you pick your bread, and then
you go you know, you pick your cheese, if you
want any, You indicate whether or not you want it toasted,
and then you do all your topmings on it. So
all of the toppings that I indicated, and this is
straight up the receipt that.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
I have on my mobile.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
I'm with you, Danielle reading, I'm zoomed in reading on.
I can see it all clear as day.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
On the BLT it has Italian nerves and cheese. That's
the kind of bread I wanted. And then like, I
like Provolon.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
Cheese cheese on the BLT.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
I'm about it.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
I'm a big Provolone guy, So Italian nerves and cheese,
Provolone cheese. Then I wanted it toasted, so it says toasted,
it has to be toasted. Then for the toppings, Baja
Chipotle sauce, a little spice, just a little salt, pepper
and oregano, so pretty light. So that's everything that it says,
Italian merves and cheese, provolone, toasted.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Bachipotlet, salt, pepper, oregano.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Nowhere does it say I want bacon, lettuce, tomato, tomato,
because on a BLT you would think that's standard.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
I would agree. I would say, hey, I would have
to if I didn't want one of these things, I
would have to put a note that says no lettuce,
you would have tomatoes, right.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
You would have to go out of your way to
specifically indicate I don't want this very common topping on
my sandwich. But on this sandwich they put bacon on there,
and they didn't put lettuce or tomato, which is insane,
Which is insane. I don't know what the subway employee
was doing. I've heard that when you see a sandwich
come in like this, the meat is already like indicated
(28:11):
on the receipts that subway themselves has. So I think
it may have said, like on their receipt, bacon, because
you know it's a BLT and that's like the default
meat that comes with it. Yeah, I can put the
meat on before you put it in the toaster oven.
There's like a big back discussion forum here. I love
it because I just I eat so much.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
I love I love food.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
But it's just insane because Daniel Waigh is like one
hundred and fifty pounds.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
It's all the running man. It's a consistent training which
I'm going to maintain. But I think it said bacon
on their end, so they knew to put on the bacon,
but I.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Guess I wouldn't have thought about that. I wonder if
it comes out and it doesn't say BLT six inch.
I wonder if it says Italian Herbs and cheese six inches,
because I've seen it on their end before.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
I know for a fact it says the actual menu item.
It says b l T and bacon the meat you
have to put on before you put it in the
toast terve.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
And obviously you're gonna put the bacon on.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
But on a BLT, why would you not just default
the putting lettuce and tomato on there. I know I
didn't specifically indicate that I want lettuce and tomato on
my belt.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
But should that that that should be common knowledge? Should
it not?
Speaker 1 (29:18):
It should just it should be understood that I want
lettuce and tomato because you know what was on my sandwich.
It was bacon, cheese, the sauce, and salt and pepper.
It was the most depressing sandwich ever. I ate it
and got visibly angry. I was pissed off while I
was eating this sandwich. But I ate it because I
dropped six dollars on at six of my valuable, my
precious dining dollars.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
I'm with you on so I wasn't about to throw
it away, but I was angry.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
That's the only time I think I've ever ate something
and been more upset after eating it than before. I
wished I would have starved that night rather than eating that.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
I think saying that you willingly would rather starve is
a little crazy, but maybe maybe a little crazy.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
But I don't think you understand my aggravation at this
moment in time. Why would I need to specific indicate
that I want lettuce and tomato on a B L T.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
That doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
That's like, if you're this is kind of a bizarre example,
but if you're talking with a real estate agent and
you're like, I would like a full house with amenities
you like, I want to be able to live in
this house like any other human being would live in
any other house. Ever, you should not have to go
out of your way to tell that real estate agent, Oh,
I want a bathroom in there too, I want a
(30:29):
shower in there. It's an absurd comparison, but anyone ordering
a BLD, anyone in the world who orders a belt
without specifically saying they don't want lettuce and tomato on it,
wants lettuce and tomato want it.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
So why did you not put it there?
Speaker 1 (30:40):
It could have been you know, maybe maybe the person
there who was working put wrapping my sandwich up.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Just totally spaced it.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
But how could any human being look down at a
sandwich because I mean you're looking down at it as
you're like folding up the bread and wrapping it up.
How could you look down at that and be like, yep,
that looks appetizing, that looks like a sandwich.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
That that is a sandwich that has absolutely nothing on it.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
No, it does nothing like No one would look down
at that sandwich and go that is what a person
would love to eat. That that looks appetizing, that looks delicious.
I can understand why this person ordered that. Maybe the
subway employees thinking, you know, maybe I'll even make myself
that sandwich when my shift is none. But no, there's
no way any human being could have done this. I've
been ranting on the sandwich, but that's my rant. I
(31:22):
was very frustrated with the Nebraska Union Subway.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
I suppose I could file.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
A complaint to corporate headquarters. But it is also not
that deep, as our generation likes to say.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
It's just not that. It's not that deep. It's not
that important. Don't care. I still don't care. I just
I don't care.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
We don't care, except we're talking about it on the podcast.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
Except we are talking about it on the podcast. That's
my two cents on subway. Did you see the Jane
Daniels thing?
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (31:47):
I did. I'm looking at it right now.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
So Jane Daniels.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
So at the time we're recording this, it's Saturday, January
twenty fifth, so tomorrow is Championship Sunday. It's the Eagles Commanders,
Eagles Commanders and Bill's Chiefs. Two really good games. I'm
excited to watch both of them. And Jane Daniels is
obviously the rookie quarterback for the Washington Commanders. Played at LSU,
(32:12):
won the highs of me.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
He was a transit.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
Also played at Arizona.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
Yeah, Arizona State. He was a transfer from Arizona State.
Everyone clowned him. There's that viral Yeah, that viral clip
where they're just messing with him and his locker.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
His teammates are.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
They're saying things that we can't repeat.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
Right, they're slandering him on the video, cleaning out his lockers,
saying he's trash. And now they're all working nine to
fives and he's in the conference.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
I'll tell you what. But he put in that effort,
Yeah he.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Did, and now and he's Heisman quartera right there.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
That's what consistent training that does for you. That's what
consistent train will do. We're going to be successful assets
like Jane Daniels someday. But anyways, Jane Daniels phenomenal.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Quarterback for Washington. He'll be he'll be forced to be
reckoned with in the nfcranchise to come. He's a franchise quarterback.
But he's not allowed to date. He's not allowed to
have a relationship.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
Which is insane because because.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
I was rolling through instagramming. Now, I was doom scrolling,
as I very frequently do. I don't know if this
was right right when I get up and right before
I go to bed, that those are like my peak
doom scrolling times where I just go on Instagram and
I could go on rabbit.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Holes for hours.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
And I found this post about Jane Daniels and the
post reads Jade and daniels mother slash agent, Regina Jackson,
says that her son will remain single to avoid distractions.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
She told Prime Video.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
And there's a quote from Jane Daniel's mother slash agent,
Some girls got a Jane Daniels wall and her mom says,
you'll get him. Someone's trying to hook him. But thank
god he's got a mama like me, because it ain't happening.
So so what if if you're if you're a twenty
four year old man, and much less a twenty four
(33:50):
year old who's one of the most famous athletes in
the country leading his team to a conference championship, potentially
a super Bowl, and you you know, you're having a
phone call with your mom and she's saying, oh, you know,
what's going on, hun, what you're doing for the rest
of the night, is everything okay?
Speaker 2 (34:05):
He goes, You know, I'm doing all right.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
I was just relaxing at the house and now I
think I'm gonna There's this gal I've been talking to
and I think we're gonna, you know, go out to dinner, hangout,
and Mama says, Son, you know the rules, no girlfriend,
no dating. What did I tell you? Do you think,
Jane Daniels, if if he wanted to enter a relationship
and his mom said, nope, you're done, not happening, do
(34:29):
you think he would actually say yes? Do you think
a grown twenty four year old What would you do
if you if you're twenty four years old and your
parents say, nope, you can't go on a date with
this person, what would you say?
Speaker 3 (34:39):
I'd say, I make millions of dollars, I'm going and
doing whatever I want.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Well, pretend you're dyling Sasha, not Jane Daniels.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
Oh, you're right, right, So I'm doing I'm doing Sash.
I just talked to my mom. I let my mom know.
Shout out mom, shout out Julie. Right, So, hey, am
I I think I'm going on a date. You know,
this weekend. I'm gonna pick little shorty up. We're gonna
go out have a good time, right, And my mom's like, ah,
it's funny. No you're not not no, not happening, not
on my watch, not happening.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
What would your reaction me?
Speaker 3 (35:10):
Once again, it would be very similar. I don't I
don't think you know who you're talking to. I am,
I'm doing that. It wasn't a question.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
I may not make millions of dollars year millions, but
I make thousands of dollars.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
I make fifteen dollars at the next center. I'm doing
what I want.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
I'm a grown man. I'm making my own decisions.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
There's I think his mom must have just said this
just to be like, oh, you know, like look at me.
I'm like, I'm such a great mom and great agent
and I'm looking out for my boy, which I'm sure
she is. Much respect to her. I'm sure she's doing
a phenomenal job. She is his own agent. And no
one's going to look out for you like your mom
will shout out to my mom Helen.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
Aka my dad always calls her Potato on the air.
Shout out to my mom, love you very much.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
No one's gonna take care of you like your mom,
and Regina Jackson is clearly doing a great job, but
not letting your kid go on a date really no distractions.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
What if you met a really nice girl.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
I know there's a lot of I know there's a
lot of girls there who are probably trying to capitalize
on the financial position of such a talented young man,
because this guy's gonna get a crazy contract after his
rookie deals.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Here's what I want to know.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
Let's hear it.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
Does does she live in.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
In the DMV area? Yeah, plays ball.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
I don't know, because they're from he's from California, right,
they're both from California. But I.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
Wouldn't be surprised if she lives in the area, because
I mean a lot a lot of these A lot
of times these players what they do is, you know,
they get their contract and they get some money, and
a lot of times they buy themselves.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
Now.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
I don't know what kind of background Jane Daniels has.
Some of these players come from having literally nothing. Others
come from backgrounds where you know, it's more standard, like
just you know, middle class family and they just happen
to be very talented football player make their way.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
To the league.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
I don't know what Jane Daniels' background is, but typically
these guys buy their parents some nice stuff. Typically they
buy him like a house or a car. And I
wouldn't be surprised one bit if Jane Daniel's mom is
going to.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
The effort to be her agent his agent.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
Yeah, all the test and all of that stuff. Like
that's what people forget is you can't just be like, yes,
I'm I'm I'm his agent. Got it for the NFL.
There's like an actual test. There's a lot that you
do through.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
We gotta get trained.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
Yeah, So I bet one hundred percent Jane Daniels bought
his mother a home out in the DMV area out
in washing It.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
I bet she lives out there.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Do you think she's got him on like a life
three sixty and she's gonna she's gonna get a notification
Jane Daniels has left the home, and.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
Oh, one hundred percent, Like, Jane Daniels has got a
life three sixty going, and there's there's no way that
he can't leave the house past ten pm. And without
her getting notification, she's coming tracking him down.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
She'll she'll be like she'll just be like reading a
book or something like starting to get ready for bed,
and she'll get a notification Jaden has left home, And
it would be like a really terrible coming of age
like drama or comedy film that you would see on
some like a Netflix original film that just totally sucks
and is devoid of any substance whatsoever. It's It would
(38:11):
be like a scene straight from there where you know,
the guy and the girl are on a date. They're
sitting in the car, guys dropping her off, and you
know they're like they're going in for like that first kiss,
and then all of a sudden, one of them gets
a call from their parents like hey, where are you?
Speaker 2 (38:26):
You got to be home. You know you're you're late,
you know you gotta you gotta get on home. Where
are you?
Speaker 1 (38:30):
It would be like that, except they're not teenagers. Jane
Daniels is a twenty four, twenty four year old guy.
I think no remaining single is crazy, I think. And
what he's doing in college.
Speaker 3 (38:43):
Yeah, but here's also the deal on that one, Like
he could be twenty four years old and not date,
but it also could be twenty four year old and
not date for a reason, right, Like, yeah, maybe in
maybe high school and college, he had a couple of
girlfriends and realized that with while having a girlfriend, he
played worse and he was not focused to its distracted,
And so he's decided that until he can get to
(39:04):
the point where he's gonna be consistent and not have
to worry about all that stuff, he's not going to
deal with that.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
Well, there should be undetermined factors at play.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
There could there could be a lot they didn't talk about,
especially because like Jade Daniels has mentioned it before and
he's like, my mama looks out for me, she takes
care of me. She sees people in ways that I
don't like. Type of situation. So like, maybe maybe there's
a lot of that backstory that we're just not seeing.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
There could be plenty of stuff in the background here.
Just it is just the concept to me that a
twenty four year old man cannot do. And maybe this,
you know, social media and journalists and reporters sometimes like
to take things wildly out of context. I suppose this
could have been taken completely.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
Yeah, maybe not necessarily.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
Maybe she said in a joking where where she was
saying this and she's like, yeah, some girls got it,
ain't happening, you know, And and then her and Jade
looked at each other and kind of laughed. It could
have been taken totally out of context, but I thought
that post was very funny. Nonetheless, and speaking of while
we're on the topic of the Washington Commanders quarterback, we
got championship Sunday this week. Who do you got in
(40:04):
the Super Bowl? Who are you taking my prediction? You know, no, Dylan,
you go ahead first.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
I'm going Commander's bills to the super Bowl. I have.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
I have bills in the super Bowl. I hope to
God you're right. I have the complete opposite prediction. I
think it's going to be Casey and Philly again. And
if it's Casey Philly, I'm not watching.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
That's so though I'm not knowing it's even if it's
Casey and Philly, You're still watching, and I know you
not watching, No way you turn it off.
Speaker 1 (40:33):
I I will not watch now, Okay, I'm not so confident.
I was about to say on my mother, I will
not watch. And I'm not that confident. If I'm putting
something on my mom, i'd better be one hundred percent certain.
So I'm not doing that. But I think I genuinely
would rather, you know, kick back and play. You know,
I'm a big Halo guy. I think I'd rather play
(40:53):
Halo for three hours than watch the Chiefs and Eagles
again because I hate both teams so much. Casey for
obvious reasons. Mahomes Refs get all the all, they give
all the help they can to the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
Travis Kelsey, Taylor Swift.
Speaker 1 (41:08):
Everyone hates the Chiefs and the Eagles. I think their
fans are total scumbags. In twenty eighteen, when the Vikings
traveled to Philly for the NFC Championship game, where they
got beat thirty eight to seven, there were just tons
of reports from Vikings fans saying how Philly fans would
just throw a bunch of crap at him and cuss
them out and do this to not only just like
adults play kids out. Were there too, like families going
(41:30):
to the game. So I hate both franchises, but I
truly think that they are the two best teams in
the league.
Speaker 2 (41:36):
I think we're gonna see an Eagles Chiefs Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (41:38):
And I ain't watching. I hope it's Washington Buffalo, but
I don't think that's the world. We're living in It
would be great if.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
We got a rematch of Yeah, looking at that ninety two,
I think the game that'll be the most interesting to
watch will be the Commander's Eagles game.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
Right.
Speaker 3 (41:53):
My problem with it is not problem that's not right.
But like Saquon has just been a menace this year.
I don't think anyone can stop I don't think I
think I really stop him. I don't think anyone And
then you have the problem. We're like, I mean to
be honest with you, Jaydon Daniels have been slaying that thing. Yes,
I'm looking at the spread right now everything. So you've
(42:14):
got Philadelphia minus six for the spread. That's what I
thought that For those of you that don't know what
that means, that means Philadelphia will win by six or
more points.
Speaker 2 (42:23):
That's what Vegas says.
Speaker 3 (42:24):
That's what Vegas is saying right over under for points
forty seven and a half points, which I think is
a I think you hammer the over Unfortunately. I think
I think that defenses are going to be lackluster and
both these teams are just going to score. I would
be surprised if it's under fifty points.
Speaker 1 (42:44):
I don't know enough about either defense to make to
make any analysis there. But I know enough about the
offense because here's here's here's my deal.
Speaker 2 (42:51):
Scoring game.
Speaker 3 (42:52):
Jayden Daniels likes to throw the ball. They don't really
run much. No, Yeah, scary Terry down there, he's doing
his thing. Because the way that it looks like for
me at least, like, uh, defensive tackle Jalen Carter has
been insane.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
Right.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
He've finished the season forty two total tackles, twelve tackles
for the lost, four and a half sacks. That's pretty good,
Jalen Carter. He's got a lot of talent. That's that's
good talent right there. And then they got Nolan Smith Junior.
He's also pretty good. Twelve total tackles, three sacks, one
force fumble. Like that's that's their pretty good defense.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
And I know the the Lions defense was banged up,
but Jane Daniels put up forty five points.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
Yeah, say they put up forty five forty five. But
I will also say this, their defense was banged up,
but all of them were just guns Both both teams
were gunslingers, right.
Speaker 1 (43:43):
They were just there to score, right, high scoring game.
Jared Goff had that offense Humming all year. Unfortunately, he
had some bad turnovers which led to the demise of
my Detroit Lions. The Detroit that I've come to know
and loathe was really showing that Sunday. It was Saturday,
that was a Saturday night came. It was tragic, and
I'm I'm over it. I'm over I really am. I
(44:10):
I had a feeling we weren't gonna win it all
this year, but I did genuinely think we would be washing.
It didn't happen, but we got a couple of gun slingers,
or well one gun slinger going at it in that
NFC championship. On the other side that AFC Championship. I mean,
this is starting to become It pretty much already has
become the biggest rivalry in the NFL. Chiefs Bills, with
(44:30):
Patty Mahomes and Josh Allen going at it. It seems
like this happens all the time. One of their postseason battles,
I think it was maybe I think it was the
divisional round where they had that game where they the
offenses were both just going crazy. I think Patrick Mahomes
got it back with thirteen seconds that was plenty. They
tied it sent it to overtime. Chiefs won the toss,
(44:50):
scored a touchdown, game over, and that is what led
to the change of postseason rules in the NFL. And
I don't know. I don't know a ton about football.
You know, I'm not an expert by any means. I know,
Paul Allen, I don't know what the twelve formation, the
power twelve, the personnel twelve formation is. You know, there's
a lot of things I don't know about the game.
But you don't bet against Patrick Mahomes in the postseason,
(45:12):
especially not when he's at home. I think the Chiefs
are gonna win. It's gonna be Eagles Chiefs in the
Super Bowl for a rematch of I don't know that
super Bowl that was two three years ago. You mean Burrowhead,
burrow Burrowhead. They go ahead, think about the season Burrowhead
and they didn't even host.
Speaker 3 (45:27):
I just here's the deal. This game is so much closer.
Speaker 1 (45:30):
The points spread spread Chiefs favored by one and a half.
I'm guessing two two. Okay, that's Chiefs savery by two.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
That's gotten up. It was one and a half earlier over.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
Under forty seven and a half. Just like the other one. Right,
here's my deal. This I think is gonna be a
super close game. I think it will be decided by
a field goal, A true we do. Yeah, I think
one of these players is going to kick one of
these players, one of these teams is going to kick
a field goal in the final minutes. I think you're
looking at like a twenty four to twenty one, twenty eight,
you know, thirty one, like something like that. I think
(46:01):
I think the over under is going to be almost
spot on. But I really think we will see because
what I don't even know what the weather looks like
in Casey tomorrow. Let's just take a look.
Speaker 1 (46:12):
I mean in case I mean I know here in
case you are different. But tomorrow, I think it is
going to be pretty standard.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
Like Sunday high of thirty two when they're playing. It
will be thirty degrees, a little bit of wind. It'll
just be cold.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
Yeah, nothing crazy.
Speaker 3 (46:26):
I mean, it's nothing insane. They're not playing no snow game,
no snow game, unfortunately, because that would be kind.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
Of lit no below zero.
Speaker 3 (46:34):
I just I hate to say it, but also not
at the same time, I just don't want the Chiefs
to win three straight super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
Oh, of course not. I hate the Chiefs. I'm ready
for Mahomes and the Kansas City. We can go bye bye,
to fall into oblivion. I want it to happen, but
I think it's going to be Chiefs Eagles. So we've
got two opposite predictions. We'll see how it shakes out.
I've got Chiefs Eagles and my good buddy Dylan Sash
has got Bill Commanders.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
We'll see how it shakes out.
Speaker 3 (47:02):
Yeah, literally, the complete opposite.
Speaker 1 (47:04):
But the big, the big game this weekend that I'm
excited where actually happens in about three hours.
Speaker 2 (47:09):
Puck drop for the Lincoln Stars, Rinking Star.
Speaker 1 (47:12):
The Omaha Lancers, the Lincoln Stars our first place in
the West.
Speaker 2 (47:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (47:18):
I actually the other day I was watching them on TikTok.
That was getting some updates on TikTok.
Speaker 1 (47:24):
There you go, and I said, hell, yeah, yeah, the
the Lincoln Stars. Yesterday they took down the Des Moines
Buccaneers in Iowa. They beat him five to two, and
that pushed them to the top of the Western Conference
because Sue Falls. Before yesterday's games, Sue Falls was in
first place, but they got beat by the Dubuque Fighting Saints.
(47:45):
We won, so Lincoln is up one point on Sue
Falls in the overall standings. And tonight we're taking on
the Omaha Lancers in the ice box.
Speaker 2 (47:53):
It's gonna be a rowdy one. We got a lot,
I know a lot of people.
Speaker 3 (47:56):
Eight eight eight bucks to go to the game tonight.
There a fella's gonna come.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
I'll put you on the jumbo trunk. I'll put you
and all the fellas on the jumbo.
Speaker 3 (48:03):
Hey do, I got a texta fellas see if they
want to. I mean, he what times of puck drop?
Speaker 2 (48:06):
Six o five six oh five five puck drop?
Speaker 1 (48:09):
You got two hours and fifty eight minutes, two hours
and fifty seven minutes. Check that hours and fifty seven
minutes to puck drop. Omaha is not a particularly good team.
They are having another rough spell. As Sandric and Julian
and us Do were talking about earlier. They were the
team who had that like they have, like a strike,
like their players just didn't show up to practice.
Speaker 3 (48:28):
We'll stop showing up.
Speaker 2 (48:30):
So they've had a rough year.
Speaker 1 (48:31):
But I'll tell you what don't when Lincoln and Omaha play,
you throw the records out the window. It's a street fight,
and there are two teams that don't like each other
very much, so you never know.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
Guess what ar boy Geo that was on here? Yeah,
Geo fourth on the team, twenty eight point, fourth on
the stars for fourth on the star twenty points. Guess
who's guess who's two behind him? In sixth?
Speaker 2 (48:51):
Is it a give me A give me? Harrington?
Speaker 3 (48:56):
Linton mm hm dash ol Dashall's locking it down? Twenty
seven point?
Speaker 2 (49:00):
She's got twenty seven is our top points score?
Speaker 1 (49:02):
Still Jack Pcar's still Jack piccar, Still Jack car, which
is actually hilarious that the boy said that we should
try and get the car on yeah, which would be
just straight.
Speaker 3 (49:10):
Uh and then yeah Slaine Harrington Harrington twenty nine or
with twenty points and ninth excuse me? And then Slane try.
Speaker 2 (49:17):
Second, second, plain second.
Speaker 1 (49:19):
Yeah, Shlaine lit the lamp a lot earlier in the season,
but I think he's cool off a little.
Speaker 3 (49:24):
Bit to find our boy. But everybody remembers Caden Harrington
going yeah, I'm the I'm I'm the guy, and we
were like, what do you mean by that? And he
was like forty three points penalty minutes?
Speaker 2 (49:33):
Yeah it or no, that was Sandrick that was sand
was was it?
Speaker 3 (49:37):
Sandrick said he was the guy.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
Does it for? Maybe? Are you talking penalty minutes?
Speaker 3 (49:41):
Oh yeah, penalty minutes. It is Sandric. He was down
here with seventy four penalty minutes. He's seventy four. It's
the highest and penalty minutes. The next closest is Matt Maltis.
Speaker 2 (49:53):
Matt Malte, Yeah, Matt Malte Yeah.
Speaker 3 (49:56):
Fifty six. So he's twenty points fine or telling minutes. Fine?
About about that sand truck, buddy, I never I've never
doubted you for a second. Our boy, Jacob Ronbach, he's
holding it down too. He's all right, he's he's living large.
Speaker 1 (50:08):
We got we got, we got plenty. We've got plenty
of talent on the on the show, and we'll get
a couple more.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
Yeah, I think, honestly, it'd be great. I want to
get I want to get the Russian guy.
Speaker 2 (50:17):
The Russian Showstack. Yeah. Showstack is one of the best.
Speaker 1 (50:23):
He's one of the best keepers in the US channel. Man,
he's a damn good goalie. I've seen, I've I don't
watch a lot of the games super closely because I'm working,
but got Showstack just.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
Makes some crazy saves.
Speaker 3 (50:34):
He's he's last night at work, I was working for
the reck last night and we watched our game was
the uh U n L versus Creighton one u n
L one for one. Shout out to the boys, But honestly,
goalie was on his head, standing on his head for
the team. I love to see it out of the boys.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
To goalie is a fun position to play.
Speaker 3 (50:55):
I I would give.
Speaker 1 (50:56):
Goalie if I were playing hockey, I'd played goalie, mostly
because my my skating is not that develops. Even though
I live in the state of hockey, live in Minnesota.
I can skate, I can get around, but it's not great.
But tonight, Omaha and Lincoln here at the ice box,
I think it's actually gonna be kind of a close game.
I mean, when you look at how well Lincoln we've won,
Lincoln's won five straight and Omaha's Omaha, they've had a
rough go this season. But I think it's going to
(51:17):
be close. These games are always close. You throw the
records out the window. As I said earlier, I think
this is going to be like a five to three
kind of game, or like a four too.
Speaker 2 (51:25):
I think Lincoln will maintain that lead.
Speaker 1 (51:28):
We'll we'll have like a one goal lead for a
while in the third period, Omaha will pull their keeper
and will get, you know, a cheeky empty netter with
like thirty seconds left to put the final nail in
the coffin.
Speaker 3 (51:39):
Obviously, obviously, I think it'll be.
Speaker 2 (51:41):
A close game, but we'll win. I think we'll maintain.
Speaker 3 (51:43):
Win for sure.
Speaker 2 (51:44):
I think we'll I think we'll maintain.
Speaker 3 (51:45):
It always surprises me. I'm looking at the roster. It
surprises me how many people are from California. I know,
we have four people from California.
Speaker 2 (51:53):
We pulled from a lot of different areas. There's there's
a lot of California. There's a fair amount of Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (51:58):
Bro, we got someone from Croatia.
Speaker 2 (51:59):
Yeah, Asia Jon showstack is He's not Russian, He's is
from Belarus.
Speaker 3 (52:06):
I yeah, Belarus.
Speaker 1 (52:08):
Belarus is Look is Belarus is a country. Yeah, I know,
that's a stupid thing.
Speaker 3 (52:14):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (52:14):
I'm I don't know anything about Eastern Europe.
Speaker 3 (52:18):
It's a country in Europe.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
It's a country in Europe. Okay, so it is a country.
So yeah, we have a lot of a handful of European.
Speaker 1 (52:23):
We got a few Minnesotans on the squad and some California.
Speaker 2 (52:27):
We got a couple Quebecy.
Speaker 1 (52:28):
I mean we had we We got a couple of Northeastern,
we had Vermont and New York, dashes from Bloomington, Indiana.
Speaker 2 (52:36):
So we pulled from everywhere.
Speaker 1 (52:38):
Really, Schlain is from Russia, Slaans from Russia. We got
people from all over.
Speaker 3 (52:43):
I knew there's someone from Russia.
Speaker 2 (52:44):
Bottom Line, the boys are gonna pull out the win.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
Bottom Line, the boys are pulling out the line.
Speaker 1 (52:47):
We've rambled now for about fifty four minutes and forty seconds.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Now, the final episode length could be much different.
Speaker 1 (52:53):
I'll go back and I'll trim and I'll see, you
know what what we can leave in.
Speaker 3 (52:57):
And what we'll get rid of.
Speaker 1 (53:01):
Things like that, things like that, any any any awkward moments,
awkward pauses.
Speaker 2 (53:05):
We'll do a little trim and we'll trim the fat.
As they say in the business, we'll get this episode
