4/25 Local Student Robotics Team Competing on Global Stage

Las Vegas' best variety the eighties, nineties, and today it's

you a feel good story local if we can help it.
It's our sunny story of the day. And we love
putting a spotlight on students doing great things here in
the valley.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yeah, we have some incredible teenagers that are now soaring
to a global stage. It looks like two VEX robotics
teams from Northwest Career and Technical Academy right here in
the valley have won the Nevada State championship for the
ves V five Robotic competition and now they're headed to
that global stage where teams from all over the world

(00:40):
will be competing in Dallas later on in May. Now,
I know they have tough competition because they are competing
against I think about eight hundred different teams. But you know,
we're Vegas strong for a reason, so we'll definitely be
cheering them on.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Yeah, this is so this is so cool. I never had,
I don't think a robotics team. When I was up,
we had like an engineering type thing where we had
to build bridges out of like I think toothpicks or
Popsicle six or something like that. But look, robotics is
such a growing field and it's great to see that
kids from right here in the valley are excelling in it.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yeah, it's pretty incredible. I think my favorite part of
the story is what they named the robots. That's what
I looked for. First one of these robots called and
looks like they called one of the robots electro Boogie,
which is very cool. And then another one is called
It's Good and that's spelled gud. But it looks like
two teams have formed an alliance to help each other

(01:35):
win that Nevada State championship.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Yeah, and the drivers for these teams are brothers by
the names of Cash Walker and Caine Walker. Incredible name is.
By the way, if robotics doesn't end up being their calling,
they certainly have a future in country music, I think.
But nonetheless, we are cheering them on. They're going to
be out in Dallas from May sixth through the eighth,
and I think we have a way to support them
