Speaker 1 (00:00):
Remember going to an opening night of a movie premiere. Ah,
that used to be so fun back in the day.
Good morning, it's Joanna and Sean and I have not
experienced a memorable opening night of a movie in years,
so I have in the past, and we'll dive into
that in a little bit. But you said that the
Minecraft movie right now, Sean is getting like a lot
(00:21):
of hype and a lot of interesting behavior inside theater
right now.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Well, I'm I listen. I'm kind of hoping that it
has calmed down because it's been out for a couple
of weeks now. But the Minecraft movie is it's one
of the highest grossing films in the country right now.
Jack blackxon it made two hundred million dollars in the
first week. My daughter has been wanting to go, so
we're thinking about taking her this week, and I'm hoping
we don't see anything like this because people have been
(00:46):
trashing the theaters. They were they were screaming, throwing popcorn.
Someone even snuck in a live chicken into the theater.
So the chicken, by the way, it was given to
a farm after it was captured, so it's safe and sound,
but it's it's it was a, it's been. It was
wild opening nights for that movie across the country and
a lot of theaters, like the police had to get involved.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Oh my gosh, Okay, that's crazy. Yeah, I know that
movie's gotten a lot of hype, But have you ever
been to a memorable movie opening night that like you
just will remember forever.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
I think the one that really sticks out in my
mind is The Sixth Sense. Remember that one with Bruce Willis.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Yea.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
There was so much hype around that movie, the whole
icy dead people thing, right, But I'll never forget it
because as I was going into the theater, like you know,
there was a whole group of people coming out of
the theaters at the same time, and somebody yells out
he was dead the whole time, right, And at the time,
I didn't know. I didn't know what this guy was.
I didn't know he was trying to ruin the movie
(01:45):
for everybody because somebody yelled at this guy, hey, shut up,
watch it, you know, And I didn't know what was
happening until I'm actually in the theater watching it, and
then I went, oh my god, this guy what a jerk?
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Right, No, I know the feeling, but yeah, it has
someone just like a ruined the movie from the beginning,
Like I mean, yeah, you're never gonna forget that, even
though that's an iconic movie still popular to this day.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
But yeah, like really, dude, you really had to spoil it?
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Come on, exactly, let's take a call here. We got
Jessica online. Jessica tell us about a very memorable movie
opening night that you went to.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Okay, I went to. I don't remember which one it was.
It was one of the Harry Potter movies. I went
to the like midnight showing premiere thing. You know, they'rey exciting. Yeah,
but I have this terrible habit of falling asleep during movies,
and I was afraid I wasn't gonna make it through
a midnight movie. And at the beginning, before the movie started,
they had like trivia going and I won, like a
(02:42):
little like Harry Potter, like a wizard hat. You know,
I was holding in my lap during the movie, fell asleep,
and I ended up like crushing the hat in the
way that I was sleeping.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
It this aw man.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
The thing that made it memorable, though, was as we're
leaving the movie theater and I'm mad because I missed
the last half of the movie, and I really wanted
to see it, and we paid all the money for
the ticket, but you know, the whole thing. And as
we come out, there's a news crew in the parking lot,
like interviewing, and all of a sudden, there's a camera
in my face and they're like, what did you say?
Like ask me my hair bride. I was like, I
don't know. I fell asleep first, and I'm just like
(03:16):
complaining on the I don't know if it went live
or if anybody ever saw it, oh my god, but
just complaining on the news about how I fall asleep
during movies.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Oh my gosh. Like the last person they needed to
interview in that spot and it was you.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
They're like, how was the movie? I don't know, I
missed most of it. I was asleep and I wore
my hat and they're like, oh and she's crazy.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
Okay, Yeah, it sounds like you definitely could have used
a nap prior to that. I feel like these days,
it's like, I mean, I know you're probably younger at
this point too, but like, if I were going to
rally to go to any movie at midnight, I'd have
to have a nap in place, I just.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
Won't go anymore, and I was like, I know I
won't make it. There's nothing I can do to make
that work.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
I'm hold Dark tuthorly. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Yeah. Opening nights are rough at this time for any movie.
I think at this time of the lives of our lives,
but appreciate the calleg Jessica, thanks so much, Thank you.
