Speaker 1 (00:00):
So many high school graduations coming up the remainder of
this month, So.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
We want to hear from you.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
What's that one real world piece of advice you'd offer
graduates this year? Seven oh two, seven nine six, one
oh six' five mamager extraordinary, raising multi, billionaires multi multi,
millionaires and everything in. Between Chris jenner was on a podcast,
recently The Burnouts, podcast and she offered some real world

(00:27):
advice to upcoming high school, graduates WHICH i think surprise
a lot of.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
People, yes, WELL i think one of the biggest criticisms
of that family is that they are a little out of, touch,
Right but the advice she offered WAS i think pretty
relatable to a lot of, people and that was she,
said to keep your car. Clean here's how she talked about.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
It go look at the inside of the, car and
how does that? Look because it just kind of represents
organizational skills and discipline and you, know just the way
that you feel about yourself and that you, know it's,
like you, know going out out into the, world how
do you want to present yourself when you go out
into the.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
World, SEE i think this is similar to Advice i've
heard from people that say to make your bed every. Day,
yeah because it's like it's a great way to Keep
it sets the tone for the. Day the organizational makes.
You it gives you a. Purpose it's not just the
act of making your, bed so it sets the tone
for the. Day, NO i agree with.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
That and WHAT i also agree with because at First i'm,
like clean out your, car but THEN i take a
minute AND i think about my car and when it
is a hot mess in, There i'm a hot mess
from the SECOND i get out of that. CAR i
feel stressed getting, IN i feel stressed leaving. It and
so she's, right this is a simple reminder anybody can
do and make a priority to really set the tone

(01:40):
for the day and make yourself more discipline.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
It, Also i'll tell YOU i do probably AND i
feel guilty saying, this But i'll just be real about.
IT i think people can be a little, judgy including,
myself when you get into someone's car and it's an absolute.
Mess and To Chris jander's point is that the image
that you want to invade it people that you don't
care about the spaces you. Occupy this IS i feel
like your car should be a, sanctuary, Right, Yes, yes.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
YEAH i, mean And i'm thinking back to this past.
WEEKEND i got my, car you, know just washed for
like the first time in a long, time and even
just like getting the outside of my car, WASH i
just felt.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Better, yeah like it just made you feel.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Better, great, honest simple advice from a billionaire Like Chris.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Jenner let's let's see if anyone else has some good
advice out. There seven oh two seven nine, six one
oh six, five and we'll start With. Kim, Hey, kim good,
morning you're down In. Henderson what's going? On what kind
of advice do you have for graduates this?

Speaker 4 (02:34):
YEAR i THINK i could pass on some. INFO i
think they just get up every day and get dressed
and show, up and then one step leads you to
the next, step and then you set YOUR gps in
your head and you get yourself to the finish. Line that,
way one step to the next.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Step just show up as a powerful message in. ITSELF
i think that can't be applied in so many different
ways throughout a, person right.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Exactly, YEAH i get it up and show, up. Right.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Yeah SO i think that's just about finding, motivation. Right
there's a lot of times you don't want to get
up off of the couch or we don't want to
leave where the our comfort, zone, Right so it's about
showing up for whatever's next in. Life that's really.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Cool, yes even if there's something to, do get up
and wash your face and put your makeup on and
feel good about yourself and that'll really you, know it's.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
All about your.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Mind if you believe you're a money, magnet you will
be so sing YOUR gps and say you're a money
magnet and money will.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Come, Okay, Kim now you're not just inspiring high school,
students you're inspiring to grown adults here in The sunny
studio this. Morning so thank you for.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
That all, right, perfect thank You.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
Kim that was.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Awesome all, right have a good.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
Day thank.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
You you're listening To Sunny mornings With joanna And. Sean
I'm sunny one six point.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Five high school graduations are happening all over the, valley
so we thought it'd be fun this morning to take
some advice from some of our listeners out, there And
Chris jenner, too that they would offer upcoming high school.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Graduates So Chris jenner sat on this podcast to keep
your car clean like that was her piece of real
world advice because it makes it feel good about. Yourself
this has a lot about how you want to present
yourself to the world and simple. ADVICE i think it
goes along AND i think it's. RELATABLE i think it's
like keeping your car clean is SOMETHING i think we
can all.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Do, Absolutely so we're taking calls on this this morning
seven oh, two seven, nine, six one oh six. Five
BUT i thought it'd be kind of fun to give
our real world piece of advice to upcoming high school.
GRADUATES i have, mine do you? Have do you have
a piece of?

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Advice we let me start with, yours so that'll know
what direction to.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Go, well, listen mine's going to be relatively, simple and
it's going to be take this next chapter headed into
college to discover. Yourself AND i, say discover yourself any
which way you want to take. That for, me looking,
back it's a time to truly just try all types of,
things do all types of, experiences and figure out who

(04:58):
you are when you're, young because when you're, OLDER i
think it's a lot harder to be able to do. That,
yeah AND i to say you can't discover yourself at
different points in. LIFE i just think when you have
a lot of, responsibilities bills to, pay you're maybe more
cautious to discover. Yourself so when you're, young maybe experience
a little bit more. Freedom it's the perfect time to
discover yourself and really just get out there and try.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
EVERYTHING i would also, say don't let nose discourage. You
you're gonna get a lot of those in, life, Sure
and don't be afraid of. Failure maybe THAT'S i think
those kind of go hand in hand BECAUSE i think
in my LIFE i suffered from a lot of analysis,
paralysis WHERE i was afraid to start something BECAUSE i

(05:43):
was AFRAID i wasn't going to be good at it
OR i was going to fail at it and. Immediately
but every no gets you closer to a, yes every
failure gets you closer to a.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
Success.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Yeah and the faster you can move on from those,
things absolutely, right the better off you'll. Be that's a
great solid. Advice so let's hear from other people this
morning as well. Again seven oh two seven nine six
one six. Five sarah's been on. Hold good, Morning. Sarah
so do you have any advice for upcoming? Graduates?

Speaker 6 (06:08):
Yeah, ACTUALLY i think the most important thing for them
to know is like a big decisions obviously coming up
in their. Lives, like and it feels like when you
make these decisions about like college and what you're studying
and all, that it feels like a really permanent. Decision
BUT i just want them to know, that, like don't
be scared to change your. Mind you go with your.

(06:29):
Gut if you get into you, know college or whatever
career path you've, chosen and you, go you know, WHAT
i really don't think this isn't for. Me but you
want to change your, mind do, it do it. Early
don't be scared to change your.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Minds that's such a good life lesson in, general right
to be able to pivot and navigate without any remorse or, Regret,
like just just make it happen if you're not. HAPPY
i think that's really solid advice.

Speaker 6 (06:55):
EXACTLY i feel like people get, stuck LIKE i made
this decision and NOW i have to stick with. It
but you, know people go back to school all the
time for all kinds of different, things and you change
your mind all the. Time you're going to be you,
know five different people in your whole. Lifetime this is
just your one choice that you've. Made you can change.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
It, OH i changed my major several. Times IF i,
look If i'd stuck with my first, MAJOR i would
be the world's worst surgeon.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
Exactly see changing your.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Mind yeah, WOW i mean, listen that's solid advice that
can apply to. Everybody BUT i think the faster you'll learn,
it especially being a high school, graduate the better you'll
be in the long.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Run.

Speaker 6 (07:33):
Yeah and it feels so, permanent but it doesn't.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Have to be great. Advice love. It thank you so
much for your. TIME i can't Believe may is already.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Here and we love supporting our friends The American Heart
association Of Southern nevada year. Round good, morning It's joanna And.
Sean if you did not, Know may Is American Stroke.
Month we are firm believers that the more you, know
the better off you'll be in the.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Future And joanna AND i both have a history of
working with The American Heart association and love to spread
awareness whenever we. Can and we have a special guests in.
Studio we love when other people come in here and
keep his. Company say good morning to Doctor Muhammad. Fayad
he is from The Sunrise Health. System he is an
interventional neurologist who specializes in. STROKE i THINK i got

(08:24):
that right, Right, yes that's absolutely, direct, perfect, Perfect.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Well good, morning and thank you so much for joining
us on. Now through our partnership with The American Heart,
association we have been able to use this acronym quite
a bit over the, years but there is an acronym
out there THAT i want you to dive into a
little bit. More it really helps with remembering the signs
of a, stroke and can you explain to us what
that is and you know. Why it helps people remember

(08:49):
and notice the signs absolutely.

Speaker 7 (08:52):
So the mnemonic that we use to help teach the
public about the signs and symptoms of a stroke is be,
fast and it's very very important to be, fast and
you want to get the individual to the nearest hospital
as soon as possible because time is. BRAIN b for,
Balance so if you notice the individual is having trouble

(09:15):
with their, balance they're swaying towards one, side bumping into
walls as they're. WALKING e for, eyes which is for.
Vision if they're having difficulty seeing on one side or
losing complete vision out of one, eye that's another sign
of a. STROKE f is for, Face so noticing any

(09:35):
droopiness on one side of the FACE a for arm
or that also goes for the leg where there's. Weakness
noting that there is a drift when you extend your arms,
out you're having difficulty maintaining the ability to lift your arms.
Up one side is drifting. Down that's also another sign of.
STROKE s is for, speech which is a big. One

(09:57):
if you're having difficulty pronouncing or having difficulty getting the
right word, out that's another sign of. Stroke AND t
is for time and AGAIN i say it, again it's
very important to be fast and get this individual to
the nearest hospital.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Center, Absolutely so these are all great things to. Remember
every time we have a conversation about, STROKE i always,
think what was that? Acronym so it's nice to have that. Reminder,
now what can anyone do to help prevent a? STROKE
i think that's one of the most important things to talk,
about is we want to, avoid, right Prevent, now what
do they, say announce of prevention is worth a pound of, cure,
Right so what can people do to prevent having strokes?

Speaker 7 (10:36):
Themselves it's very important to discuss with your doctor whether
you have any risk factors for, stroke which includes things
like high blood. Pressure making sure that your blood pressure
is very well. Managed you're taking your medications appropriately as
your doctors have, prescribed maintaining a normal cholesterol. Level high

(10:56):
cholesterol levels can definitely cause damage to blood, vessels nearing
blood vessels and eventually leading to. Stroke avoiding smoking smoking
is a big one which increases a risk of, stroke
and we've known that for many many years.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Now, wow some really solid reminders. Here AND i know
that The Sunrise Health system is a local sponsor together
to end stroke with The American Heart. Association so coming
on the show, today especially to really kick off the
month Of may With American Heart association with The American Stroke,
month this definitely raises. Awareness and we appreciate your time
and of the education you are providing our.

Speaker 7 (11:30):
Audience thank you for having.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Me Doctor Mohammed. Fayad he is part of The Sunrise Health.
System he is an interventional neurologist who specializes in. STROKE
i got that, right, wife got that, RIGHT twi thank
you so much for your time. Today Wake up.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Five good, morning It's joanna And. Sean hopefully you had
a Beautiful mother's. Day now we have one of our
favorite mamas on the phone with us this. Morning we
have the founder Of Project marilyn our, Friend Wendy. Schweigar
welcome back to the show this.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
Morning good, Morning thank you so much for having.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Me we love talking with, You, wendy AND i know
that we talked to you around this time every. YEAR
a big week for your organization this. Week but real,
quick anybody who's not familiar With Project, marylyn your organization
became what it is today because of your, Mom so
give us a.

Speaker 5 (15:08):
Backstory, Yes marilyn was my. Mom we lost her to
cancer in twenty, eleven and when she passed, away she
shared with me that she never felt she made an
impact on, Anyone she never helped, anyone which just really wasn't.
True she was just super lovely and. Fantastic and you
know what she did do is teach us tenacity and hard.
Work and you know she did teach us to help.

(15:30):
People and so while you know periods were not her things,
specifically it does make me very proud to be able
to give women dignity in her.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Honor oh, wow it's an amazing. Cause and the reason
we love having you on right now is to talk
about period Period Poverty Awareness. Week, now, Look i'm a girl.
DAD i think a lot of our listeners know, that
AND i love the example you set for young women
to not be ashamed to talk about. This nobody should
be ashamed to talk about this. Topic and what you're
doing is you're addressing the scarcity of donated period products

(16:05):
for young.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
Women, correct, well, right, Right so we do we work
on a couse known as period. Poverty the statistics say
that two in five women can't afford period supplies every
year due to lack of, income and one in four
girls is missing school every month for the length of
her period because they don't have period. Supplies and also
you can't use any sort of federal funds MEANING, EBT,

(16:27):
snat medicaid to purchase these products because they're still classified
as non essential luxury. Items so we are really trying
to change the dialogue around all of. That and, yes
period supplies are the least donated items when people come
together to help. Everyone you, know, rightfully so is very
concerned about food and clothes and school. Supplies but you

(16:48):
know what happens when a, woman a girl gets her.
Period you, know she's not leaving the, house she's not
going to, work she's not going to. School so we
really are trying to change the whole narrative around.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
That pretty powerful.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
STUFF i think one of my favorite parts Of Your
your mission is that everyone deserves a healthy and dignified period,
period and that's why we are bringing light and attention
To Period Poverty Awareness. Week, NOW i, know the entire
month Of, may so there's plenty of time.

Speaker 8 (17:15):
For people to, Support but you guys have a really
COOL i don't know IF i want to use a
promotion the right word or something really special right now
if people are able to donate To Project marylyn right.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
Right so we had an amazing we have an amazing,
family a donor and their family that have generously offered
to match all donations in the month Of. May. Wow
so that means if you donate to us in the
month Of, may your donation will be match dollar for
dollar up to twenty thousand. Dollars is their gift to.
Us and it's just so fantastic because it just means

(17:48):
that your donation amount goes twice as, far twice the period,
supplies twice the, dignity twice the. Help so, yeah it's
always we always love a, donation but you, know the
month That, may your donation will be able to go
twice as. Far.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Wow you Know i've said it, Before i'll say it.
Again period supplies should be free for anyone who needs.
Them you shouldn't just because you are born with the
ability to have a, period be burdened with that kind
of financial expenditure for the rest of your life for
something that's completely beyond your. Control and until those supplies
can become reclassified as essential and non, luxury we are

(18:26):
so just proud and happy for what it is you're
doing out.

Speaker 5 (18:30):
There, well, NO i appreciate it so, much AND i
appreciate your. Support you, know you're allowing me to come
on and share with your, listeners you, know especially every,
time you, know around this time of. Year it's just
really is important because, look the subject is still a bit.
Taboo it's uncomfortable for some, people and you, know we
just really want to change the messaging, that, yes periods

(18:51):
are a natural biological. Function they happen to over half
the population every single, month due to no fault of
anyone's and so it's just a great equal you, know
fortune five hundred CEOs have periods and unhoused people have. Periods,
so Like joanna, said it's a healthy and dignified. Period,
obviously we want you to be, healthy but we want
you to hold your head, high you, know thrive in your,

(19:14):
life be able to succeed and not have to worry
that you frankly have you, know a stack of napkins
in your. Underwear it's just it's it's just really unacceptable
and we can do.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Better, well thank, You wendy for what you And Project
maryland do for the entire.

Speaker 8 (19:28):
State Of.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
Nevada and again we want to remind everybody going on
right now donation. Match may just remember THAT i love
the sound of. That donation. Match may you make a
donation To Project maryland and your donation is going to
be doubled up to twenty thousand. Dollars we want to
help help them hit. That we love talking with, You.
Andy thank you for calling into the show this.

Speaker 5 (19:50):
Morning thank you.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Both this Is Sunny mornings With joanna and Sew I'm.
Sunny was six point Five Sunny mornings With joanna And
sean On sunny six point, Five Las vegas's best variety
of the, eighties nineties and. Today So, joanna WHEN i
first got, here one of the firs first things THAT
i was privileged to get involved with was something that
you was like your. Brainchild four years, Ago Las vegas'

(20:15):
largest baby. Shower it has become this incredible. Event AND
i know we just wrapped up this year's, events broke some,
records but let's just kind of go back to like
what started.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
This oh, well, YEAH i mean it was pretty special
back in twenty twenty one WHEN i announced my. Pregnancy you,
know people were reaching out and, like OH i love this,
shit send you a gift to the. Studio AND i was, like,
OH i. Don't i'm, not you, know not announcing my
pregnancy to receive. Anything, Yeah and so it just had
me thinking, like what about if people want want to
do something, nice we give it to some charity for

(20:46):
families that truly need and deserve, help especially during those
vulnerable times like becoming a new. Mom and SO i
came Across Babies. BOUNTY i had never learned about the
organization until twenty twenty, one and they are our communities
largest diaper bank for families in. Need and so we
ended up just turning that whole concept and idea Into

(21:07):
Las vegas's largest baby. Shower we kicked it off in
twenty twenty, two right before my, Son brock was, born
and then every year we've grown the. Event and this
year and year, four we had a pretty lofty goal
of one hundred thousand. Diapers, yeah and we've net we
haven't hit, that we've we've hit. It in, total we've
collected in three years over one hundred and sixty five

(21:27):
thousand diapers in three. Years but this, year year, four
we smashed our goal and hit over one hundred thousand
diapers in one.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Years it's. Incredible it's been really eye opening for. Me
first of, ALL i love anytime we can get out
of the, studio sure and meet the people that listen
To sonny you, know and listen to our show and
get to connect with, them but just to see the
giving spirit that is in this community. Firsthand because, look

(21:55):
we had some great partners of course with Like Live, nation,
right so that the whole concept is you bring us
one hundred dollars in new and unopened, diapers or a
monetary donation of one hundred, bucks you're going to get
a pair of tickets to A Live nation show here in,
town and those are All, look the value of those
tickets greatly outweighs what it is you're giving to us
in diapers. Exactly, so, yes the incentive is, there but

(22:15):
the fact that people have been coming out in droves
year after year and this year just smashed that goal
just an incredible. FEELING i think.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
One of my favorite parts of this overall event and
give back is hearing from people who have been donating
since year one and they're so proud to tell you,
that WHICH i think is so. Cool when you're out
at these diaper drive events collecting the diapers and they're, like,
hey well you know last YEAR i Chose moon five,
tickets or, hey the year, BEFORE i went To John
legend because of you. Guys so we do this every
year now as a, family AND i think that's pretty

(22:46):
special to you, know obviously make this a tradition for
a lot of. People and like you, said, normally you,
know when charities and organizations ask for people to, give
they don't necessarily have to give something in. Return but
because of our our incredible partners Like Live, nation who
only does something like this For Las vegas's largest baby,
shower it's pretty special and it really makes you just

(23:08):
kind of you, know yesterday during our drop off, event
he's just like taking a second to like step back
look at all those diapers and being like this is
going to help so many, Families and it's really just
like a moment of gratitude for our incredible partners, Again Live,
Nation Las Vegas Women's Health associates Of Southern nevada And
Sunrise Health system who partner up and get behind this
like it's their own. Right they want to make it
bigger and better every year.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Too AND i want to take this moment just in
case you don't follow us On instagram Or, facebook do
that now you can find us On facebook Simply Sunny
one was six point five On instagram At Sunny window
sixty FIVE. Lv just look at what you helped us
accomplish yesterday when we made the drop off At Baby's.
Bounty it is. Impressive we hope you join us again next.

(23:50):
Year we may have to set a two hundred thousand diaper.
Goal who.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
KNOWS i, mean, listen LIKE i, said in three, years
we DID i think one hundred and sixty five thousand
diapers AND i would have been happy with with hit
