Speaker 1 (00:00):
Remember going to an opening night of a movie premiere.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Ah, that used to be so fun back in the day.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Good morning, it's Joanna and Sean and I have not
experienced a memorable opening night of a movie in years,
so I have in the past, and we'll dive into
that in a little bit. But you said that the
Minecraft movie right now, Sean is getting like a lot
of hype and a lot of interesting behavior inside theater
right now.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Well, I'm I listen. I'm kind of hoping that it
has calmed down because it's been out for a couple
of weeks now. But the Minecraft movie is it's one
of the highest grossing films in the country right now.
Jack blackxon it made two hundred million dollars in the
first week. My daughter has been wanting to go, so
we're thinking about taking her this week, and I'm hoping
we don't see anything like this because people have been

(00:46):
trashing the theaters. They were they were screaming, throwing popcorn.
Someone even snuck in a live chicken into the theater.
So the chicken, by the way, it was given to
a farm after it was captured, so it's safe and sound,
but it's it's it was a, it's been. It was
wild opening nights for that movie across the country and
a lot of theaters, like the police had to get involved.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Oh my gosh, Okay, that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Yeah, I know that movie's gotten a lot of hype,
But have you ever been to a memorable movie opening
night that like you just will remember forever.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
I think the one that really sticks out in my
mind is The Sixth Sense. Remember that one with Bruce Willis.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yea.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
There was so much hype around that movie, the whole
icy dead people thing, right, But I'll never forget it
because as I was going into the theater, like you know,
there was a whole group of people coming out of
the theaters at the same time, and somebody yells out
he was dead the whole time, right, And at the time,
I didn't know. I didn't know what this guy was.
I didn't know he was trying to ruin the movie

(01:45):
for everybody because somebody yelled at this guy, hey, shut up,
watch it, you know, And I didn't know what was
happening until I'm actually in the theater watching it, and
then I went, oh my god, this guy what a jerk?

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Right, No, I know the feeling, but yeah, it has
someone just like a ruined the movie from the beginning,
Like I mean, yeah, you're never gonna forget that, even
though that's an iconic movie still popular to this day.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
But yeah, like really, dude, you really had to spoil it?

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Come on, exactly, let's take a call here. We got
Jessica online. Jessica tell us about a very memorable movie
opening night that you went to.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Okay, I went to.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
I don't remember which one it was. It was one
of the Harry Potter movies. I went to the like
midnight showing premiere thing. You know, they'rey exciting. Yeah, but
I have this terrible habit of falling asleep during movies,
and I was afraid I wasn't gonna make it through
a midnight movie. And at the beginning, before the movie started,
they had like trivia going and I won, like a
little like Harry Potter, like a wizard hat. You know,

(02:45):
I was holding in my lap during the movie, fell asleep,
and I ended up like crushing the hat in the
way that I was sleeping.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
It this aw man.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
The thing that made it memorable, though, was as we're
leaving the movie theater and I'm mad because I missed
the last half of the movie, and I really wanted
to see it, and we paid all the money for
the ticket, but you know, the whole thing. And as
we come out, there's a news crew in the parking lot,
like interviewing, and all of a sudden, there's a camera
in my face and they're like, what did you think?
Like ask me my hair bride. I was like, I
don't know. I fell asleep first, and I'm just like

(03:16):
complaining on the I don't know if it went live
or if anybody ever saw it, oh my god, but
just complaining on the news about how I fall asleep
during movies.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Oh my gosh. Like the last person they needed to
interview in that spot and it was you.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
They're like, how was the movie?

Speaker 5 (03:32):
I don't know, I missed most of it. I was
asleep and I wore my hat and they're like, oh
and she's crazy.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Okay, Yeah, it sounds like you definitely could have used
a nap prior to that. I feel like these days,
it's like, I mean, I know you're probably younger at
this point too, but like, if I were going to
rally to go to any movie at midnight, I'd have
to have a nap in place, I just.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
Won't go anymore, and I was like, I know I
won't make it. There's nothing I can do to make
that work.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
I'm hold dark tuthorly. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Yeah. Opening nights are rough at this time for any movie,
I think at this time of the life of our lives.
But appreciate the calle Jessica, thanks so much.

Speaker 6 (04:10):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean on Sonny one oh
six point five. So what was the most memorable opening
night of a movie that you ever went to? It's
Sunny Mornings that Joanna and Sean on Sunny one of
six point five, Las Vegas' best variety the eighties, nineties
and today. A couple of weeks ago, the Minecraft movie
opened up, causing hysteria across the country. Teens were trashing

(04:34):
theaterist police had to get involved. Certainly memory, I think
if you were in the theater. But before we take
some more calls on this, Joanna, do you have a
very memorable opening night of a movie that you went to?

Speaker 2 (04:47):
You know what, the one that sticks out the most
for me.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
And they are actually going to be celebrating twenty five
years this year because it came out in two thousand.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
But remember the movie Remember the.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Titans, Yes, with Den's l Washington. Oh my god, what classic.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Gosh, such a good movie.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Of course, I was in high school and it was
the first movie I ever went to with the boy.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Oh boy.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yeah, And it was in like even one of those
things where it was like a one on one date.
I mean it was like the entire high school, right
was like out at this movie on a Friday night. Yeah,
I'll never forget going to like Red Robin before with
like a bunch of people and then you know, we
all went to the movies. But it was like the
first time I like sat next to a boy in
a movie, and like the vibe was so good. So

(05:33):
I like had all the nerves of like teenage like
you know, love in the air type.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Of feeling, plus like the excitement of that movie.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
And so yeah, it's even though nothing like crazy happened, like,
it's a memorable opening night for me because it was
my first movie with a boy.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
I think so many people are watching movies at home
now on like their home theaters and streaming that I
think a lot of that, uh, that that feeling of
celebrating something with a group is missed out on a
lot these days, unfortunately.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Definitely, and I think with it being the twenty fifth
anniversary this year, I have no doubt that Remember the
Titans will probably make its way back into a theater now.
I would definitely try to make some time this time
going to that movie with my husband, of course, but
you know, just like going down memory lane with all
the good vibes from my high school era, I would
absolutely love to experience that over again. And I can't

(06:20):
wait to hear what other people have as their memorable
movie experiences. So I know Stephanie has been on hold
just a little bit. Good morning, Stephanie.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Do you have a memorable opening night movie experience?

Speaker 7 (06:32):
I do, but this is a little bit backwards because
I didn't actually go see the opening night of that
particular movie. So do you guys remember when the Barbie
movie came out?

Speaker 6 (06:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (06:42):
Yeah, yeah, okay. So everyone I know was getting dressed
up and wearing all pink yeah I hate pink, and
going to see the Barbie movie in droves. So my
bestie and I decided instead of getting dressed in pink
and going to see the Barbie movie, there was a
showing of Heathers and that's way more our speed. So
we decided to dress up and go to Heathers instead

(07:04):
of Barbie to kind of like put it in everyone's face.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Heathers. That was like what was an eighties movie?

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Right? Was?

Speaker 7 (07:11):
Yeah, late eighties, early nineties I think, But it's all
about like teen inks and like murder Suicide and one
of the best movies I've ever seen, and it was
having like I think it was like It's thirtieth Union
or something like that.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Yeah, So we.

Speaker 7 (07:24):
Decided to get dressed up and go as Heather's characters
instead of Barbie characters because we thought Barbie was a
little too phony for us.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Yeah, why not? A writer and Christian Slater were in
that one. Yeah, So what'd you wear? Would you wear?

Speaker 7 (07:37):
I actually wore a black mini blazer and matching skirt
with a blue like I don't want to say tank
top but camsol. I don't even know what the work
is underneath electually blue underneath shirt with matching tights and shoes.
So I was Veronica, which is the one on a character.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah, yeah, very cool. Well that's kind of fun. Love that.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
It was awesome, way better than Barbie is a Barbenheimer weekend,
and you said, I'm not doing either of those things.
I'm not doing Oppenheimer. I'm not doing Barbie. We appreciate
anyone who marks to the beat of their own drummer.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Yeah, all about it, Bang bangs awesome.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Thanks Stephanie for sharing that memory with us. Sex.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
We love a feel good Friday right here on Sunday
when I was six point five. Good morning, it's Joanna
and this Sean. I know, Sean, you must be feeling good.
You're back from you know, being off the past few
days because you were under the weather.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
But hopefully you're feeling good headed into the weekend. What's
going on with you?

Speaker 3 (08:36):
I am, you know, let me fire up my field.
Good music here real quick. But yes, my parents were
here for the last couple of weeks, but they took
off a couple of days ago. So I'm actually looking
forward to a little downtime on Saturday before we host
the Aid for Aids of Nevada, the a Fan Aids
Walk on Sunday morning out of Las Vegas Ballpark. So
very much looking forward to that. But I think Saturday

(08:58):
is just gonna be a nice low key for me
and the family because I think we need just like
a reset for a day.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
You know.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
Oh, everybody needs a good reset every now and then,
especially when you've been hosting you know, family for a
couple weeks.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
So I love that.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Yeah, that's a great feel good Friday vibe right there.
And we're actually taking your phone calls and your talkbacks
this morning. If you're stremming us through the iHeartRadio app,
just hit that little microphone there, leave us a message,
just like Tom did. Let's hear why he's feeling good
on this feel good Friday.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Best news I have had in a long long time.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
I just managed to retire after twenty eight years at
teaching high school. Wow, and nothing beats the retired life.
No more crazy kids, no more lesson plans, no more
parents to deal with, twenty eighty years of teaching. Congratulations Tom,
that's got to feel pretty good.

Speaker 6 (09:48):
Gosh.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
It's so funny because most of the teachers I know
that I've talked to, I mean, my brother included, I'll
be like, hey, how many days do you have into retirement?

Speaker 2 (09:57):
And like they all know the number. They also all
now it's like they've all been counting down.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
So Tom totally deserved enjoy that downtime off and.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Let's go to Jamie on the talk bag, Mike, what's
got her feeling good today?

Speaker 1 (10:12):
My dog?

Speaker 7 (10:13):
My dog made me smile. He's just a ball of
energy and of love.

Speaker 5 (10:19):
And you know what, he's starting to get along more
with my.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Cat and that just all makes me night nice when
your dog and your cat aren't like at each other's
throats all the time like the cartoons.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Right, listen, Feel good Fridays could be totally simple. And
you're right, Jamie, your dog, Yeah, your dog can totally
make you smile. So we love that feel good Friday.
All right, let's hear from Jay as well. What's got
Jay feeling good on this feel good Friday?

Speaker 2 (10:44):
The best news that I got recently, the best Morris
I've gotten in a while.

Speaker 5 (10:47):
We just bought our first house. Ohoh, pretty happy about it.
Get ready to move in this week?

Speaker 3 (10:52):
A new house. That's huge news.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
Oh man, wow with you, especially with how the market is,
that's a amazing news. Jay, All right, fire a lot
of people out there, But yeah, I mean to be
settled into a new home headed into the weekend.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Ah, what a great feeling.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Yeah, I didn't want to get it all like any
economy talk or anything. But yes, all that said, amazing feeling.
We are so thrilled for you, Jay, enjoy the new home.
This is Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
I'm Sunny was six point five.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Las Vegas' best variety the eighties nineties, and today it's
Sunny one of six point five Sunny Mornings with Joanna
and Sean. Now every day around this time we bring
you a feel good story local if we can help it,
it's our Sunny Story of the day. And we love
putting a spotlight on students doing great things here in
the valley.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Yeah, we have some incredible teenagers that are now soaring
to a global stage. It looks like two VEX Robotics
teams from Northwest Career and Technical Academy right here in
the valley have won the Nevada State championship for the
ves V five Robotic competition and now they're into that
global stage where teams from all over the world will

(12:04):
be competing.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
In Dallas later on in May.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Now, I know they have tough competition because they are
competing against I think about eight hundred different teams. But
you know, we're Vegas strong for a reason, so we'll
definitely be cheering them on.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Yeah, this is so this is so cool. I never had,
I don't think a robotics team. When I was growing up.
We had like an engineering type thing where we had
to build bridges out of like I think, toothpicks or
popsicle stix or something like that. But look, robotics is
such a growing field, and it's great to see that
kids from right here in the valley are excelling in it.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
Yeah, it's pretty incredible.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
I think my favorite part of the story is what
they named the robots.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
That's what I looked for.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
First one of these robots called and looks like they
called one of the robots electro Boogie, which is very cool.
And then another one is called It's Good and that's
spelled gud.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
But it looks like two.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Teams have formed an alliance to help each other win
that Nevada State championship.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Yeah, and the drivers for these teams are brothers by
the names of Cash Walker and Caine Walker. Incredible names.
By the way. If robotics doesn't end up being their calling,
they certainly have a future in country music, I think.
But nonetheless, we are cheering them on. They're going to
be out in Dallas from May sixth through the eighth,
and I think we have a way to support them

(13:22):
if you want, right, Joanna.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
Absolutely, so, this is a pretty big achievement. Of course,
puts our City on a global stage. So if you
want to learn more and support the robotics teams from
Northwest Career and Technical Academy, you can right now at
Sunny one O six five dot com.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Just click on Sunny Mornings and you can support their
Sonny one of six God.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Contrary to popular beliefs, there is definitely such a thing
as a bad gift, especially on Mother's Day. Good morning,
It's Johanna Addams Sean, and the countdown is on until
Mother's Day. I think we're what sixteen days away. Yesterday
I talked a little bit about how people wait until
two days before Mother's Day to even make a reservation,

(14:07):
and most of the time moms make the reservations themselves.
Don't don't let that happen this year. So we're gonna
help you out and tell you what mom probably doesn't
want for Mother's Day this year.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Well, I'll say, thankfully, I've already got it taken care
of my wife. And i's anniversary actually falls on Mother's
Day this year, May eleven. Okay, so I have I've
got kind of what I will call our anniversary slash
Mother's Day gift already figured out and taken care of,
and I've hidden and my daughter made hers at school
and that's already hidden as well for her. So but

(14:40):
there's a list of things that Good Housekeeping put out,
five of them in particular, that you should simply never
get a mom for Mother's Day. And I want to
see if you agree with some of these, Joanna, and I'm.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Sure right, all right, let's hear.

Speaker 5 (14:55):
Well.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
The first one is cleaning supplies of any kind, and yes,
that includes a fancy vacuum cleaner.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Okay, well, let me just say this.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
I laugh at this way because you're right, like, I
don't want like you know, antibacterial spray or lysol wipes
or anything, but where I'm at in my life right now,
a fancy vacuum would help me out with a new
baby on the way.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
So slightly disagreeing with that one this year.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Well, well, I think a fancy vacuum would be great
for like an any time gift, right, maybe not for
Mother's Day. But I do agree with you because I
actually I appreciate good vacuum too. Come on, generic stuff
like mugs, cheap lotion sets, like a Best mom Ever
type tea. I mean the I don't know that it
seems a little less thoughtful, right, kind of last minute?

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Sure, do I get that.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
I think I think where that's really acceptable, Sean, is
like when you have little kids who don't have money,
who can't go out and buy the nice stuff. Like,
I think stuff like that is totally acceptable when you're
you know, when your kids are young, it's kind of cute,
right that they want to give you or do anything.
So I think there's like an age range there when
that type of gift is acceptable.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Yeah, right, Like at a younger age, maybe that becomes
a keepsake that you use for the rest of your life. Right,
But you know, once your kid's a teenager, like the mugg,
ain't gonna cut it anymore exactly. Kitchen appliances, things like
instant pots, unless of course it was specifically asked for,
but nothing like to basically say, hey, can you cook
something for me? Right?

Speaker 2 (16:23):
No, I agree with that.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
I think those gifts are okay around the holiday times,
but yeah, for Mother's Day, the last thing I want
to think about is cooking ever on Mother's Day, So yeah,
totally agree with that one.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Good Housekeeping also suggests not to get gifts that are
really for the kids, like baby gear or concert tickets
for the whole family.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
Oh see, I slightly disagree with that one because I'm
all about just like experiences these days, So even if
like my husband has to join and my son, like,
I'm okay with that because like that's what I want
to do. That's where I want to spend my money
these days, is on experiences, So that one slightly disagree on.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
Okay, no, that's fair. I like that, and anything workout
or weight loss related seriously just don't is Good Housekeeping's
advice there, So keep ozempic off the list basically, I.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Mean I agree with that one as well.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
Listen to Mother's Day is one of those holidays where
like diets are out the window, like let me enjoy myself,
spoil me, cook me food, make me a reservation because
I'm not even thinking about weight loss related anything that day.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
So one percent agree with that one.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Well, this has been helpful for me, so I know
it to avoid. Hopefully it's helped someone else out there too.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
This morning, Wake Up with Sunday Mornings with Joanna and
Sehn on Sonny one oh six point.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
Five, Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean on Sunny one
o six point five, Las Vegas' best variety of the
eighties nineties, and Today on Feel Good Fridays, we share
your good news with the Valley after six and eight o'clock.
I am looking forward to a weekend of really some
downtime after two cham packed weekends. But Joanna, before we
pick up a phone call here, what are you feeling

(17:57):
good about today?

Speaker 1 (17:59):
Okay, So mine is totally pregnancy related. I think I
told you this like off the mic, but like this pregnancy,
I've had really bad heartburn consistently, Like that's been.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
My main symptom that I've had, and.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
It's only increased. And I've been talking to my husband
about getting some type of like recliner chair for like
a while now, just because of the fact that it's
better to sleep upright when you have such bad heartburn.
So our recliner came in yesterday and my husband already
set it up, and I'm just so happy to have
like a night of relief and on a weekend of
relief where I can sleep slightly upright and not be

(18:36):
dying the whole time from heartburn. So I'm feeling good
because of this new chair that just derived.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
And this is actually because we were like, should we
spend this money? Should we not spend this money?

Speaker 1 (18:46):
And we justified it as Okay, this is gonna be
Mother's Day and our anniversary gifts since but both of
those fall in the month of May. Like, there we go,
that's just justification. My husband will also enjoy this chair
certain points. It's gonna be good to have with the
baby here, and it's gonna help me now with my heartburn.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
So that's why I'm feeling good today.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Hey, look, we like to celebrate self care here all
the time, right. I feel like that's gonna be some
years of stress relief for both of you, but particularly
helpful for you right now, so I'm happy for you.
Side note before we pick up this phone call here,
you don't have to tell me yet, but have you
figured out a name yet for a baby girl? Bauman?

Speaker 2 (19:22):
No, that's honest truth.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
It's literally just another conversation last night with my husband Andrew.
I'm like, we need a name, and so I'm hoping,
honestly and like no joke, I'm hoping we determine it
this weekend because yeah, I feel like I'll be more
settled when I can give her a name.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Well, I know it's gonna be great because brock Bounding
is such a great name. So I'm excited whenever you
would tell us what the name is, I'm excited to
hear it. Let's go tell Wendy. Here, Wendy, happy, feel
good Friday. What's your good news today?

Speaker 4 (19:53):
I'm engaged?

Speaker 1 (19:54):
All right, we love we love your You're a fiance now, Yeah,
it feel.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
It feels fancy saying that right, getting you some French words.
Oh that's I.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
Feel like I feel weird saying it.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
So how did he?

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (20:12):
How did he pop? How did he pop the question?

Speaker 4 (20:14):
So we took a trip to Ireland. Oh wow, and yeah,
and uh there was this one beach that I always
wanted to see and and he ended up just popping
the question right there and there was like a like
a secret photographer on the beach.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
It's really special.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
You gotta love the going the extra mile getting the
secret photographer. I love those are always a nice touch
to get those candid moments where you're, oh, man, you'll
treasure those photos forever.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Let me ask you, Julie, did you have any idea
it was coming? Did you think it was gonna happen
during this trip?

Speaker 4 (20:51):
I mean I had a feeling. I mean, if we're
going to Ireland, like.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
That would be the time, right, might as well go
all out right and come home with fiance.
