Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sunny one oh six point five, las Vegas's best variety
of the eighties, nineties, and today good morning gets sean.
So when I get up in the morning and drive
here for work, there's no one on the freeways like
I do not deal with traffic whatsoever, And chances are
I'm guessing if you're up this early with me, you're
not either, unless, of course, you just get up way

(00:20):
earlier than you need to be at work because you
enjoy the solitude and want to take your time before
going in. Anyway, what I'm getting at here is that
your commute might be easier in the future. Here because
Las Vegas is potentially saying goodbye to hov lanes on
the freeways. Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony is leading a push
to convert all of them into general purpose lanes, arguing

(00:43):
that they cause more congestion than actual car pooling. I
would agree with that. I see plenty of people in
those car pool lanes driving by themselves. I don't think
anyone's adhering to the rules whatsoever. A federal study is underway,
and lane restrictions have already been scaled back to just
a few hours on the weekdays. I think what it's
six to eight in the morning and four to six

(01:06):
in the afternoon on the weekdays.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
That's that's the only times you.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Have to adhere to those HOV rules. But anyway, they
could be going bye bye completely. Keep you posted, of course,
as that does affect your commute every day, and we are.
You're at work station. It's Sunny Windows six point five
coming up a bit later in the show Sea World
and Sesame plays tickets at seven and eight forty and
Beyonce tickets at nine to forty. Keep it here on Sunday,

(01:30):
good morning. You know, I love a good list, especially
when Vegas is right at the very top of it.
It's Sunny Window six point five, Las Vegas's best variety
of the eighties, nineties and today sean here and Vegas
just topped the charts as the best city in the
country for live music lovers. I mean, it's it's pretty

(01:52):
on the nose, right obvious. Twenty five hundred concerts here
every year, I mean, just an uncountable number of venues,
eleven music festivals planned, and of course that includes our
twenty twenty five iHeartRadio Music Festival to September at team
Obile Arena. Ed Sheeran, Maroon Five, Mariah Carey, Brian Adams,
Tim mcgrau, Jelly Roll. Get your tickets right now at

(02:13):
AXS dot com. But of course the Residency's galore right
residencies are amazing. Adele and U two were phenomenal. Uh,
don't forget about Grateful Dead.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Over there at the Sphere.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Backstreet Boys just kicked off their Sphere residency. New Kids
on the Block or at Park MGM Kelly Clarkson right
now is Caesar's Palace. The list goes on and on. Musically,
this city is unbeatable. I do love living here so much.
It's Sunny Window six point five coming up at six am,
next chance at one thousand dollars. Maybe buy some concert
tickets with that money. It's the work day, payday, it's

(02:47):
coming up.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
You're listening to Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean. I'm
Sonny one six point five.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Sonny Window was six point five Las Vegas's best variety
of the eighties nineties, and today it's Sean and I've
got another scam alert for you.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Anytime I see these, I like to pass that information on.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
If you don't follow by the way, Clark County, Nevada
on Facebook do that they do a good job of
getting this information out there. But Clark County officials are
warning about a new scam targeting residents involving a fake
failure to appear citation. They're trying to trick you into
thinking you missed some sort of a court date and

(03:24):
you owe people hundreds of dollars. Just understand that these
are phony notices. They are not real, and they may
show up in your physical mail and your text messages
in your email. They're trying to look official. There are
spelling errors, they don't have the zip code right, and
the Clark the County Clerk does not issue citations on
top of all of that, so you are not required

(03:46):
to pay or show up in court for any reason.
So if you get one of these, don't panic, Just
ignore it and report it, all right, Sonny one of
six point five, it's Sean and coming back. I've got
your thousand dollars keyword for the workday payday. In case
you missed it, I'll give it to you again, Sunny.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
One oh six point five. Good morning. It's Sean.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Now, as someone with veterans in my family, I feel
like we can always be doing more for.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Our nation's heroes.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
If you put your life on the line for our country,
you shouldn't have any problem with things like healthcare, or
job placement or housing. That brings me today's sunny story
of the day. If you've been keeping an eye on
the housing situation here in the valley, you already know
affordable options are tough to come by, especially for veterans.
But there's some good news here in North Las Vegas.
Rebuilding together Southern Nevada just open a brand new three

(04:36):
unit property near the area of North fifth and Centennial Parkway.
And this is not like you're a typical affordable housing.
This's in a gated neighborhood. They get upgraded appliances, accessible bathrooms,
even two car garages, and it's all part of a
bigger push to help veterans not just find housing, but
feel safe, supported, and proud.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Of where they live. Now.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
There is an estimated shortage of around eighty thousand affordable
units in Southern Nevada, so this is small, but it's meaningful.
Three of these homes are ready for move in right now,
and eight more are coming later this year. And it's
not just about the homes okay, they're offering things like
ac repairs, roof reflate, since even financial literacy classes to
help people stay housed long term. This is a really

(05:21):
cool project with a real impact, and hopefully just the beginning,
we'll put everything you need to know up at Sunnywino
sixty five dot com. Just click on Sunny Mornings coming
up seven o'clock. Another chance at a grand for you
with the work day Payday, Let's get you paid today.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Wake up with Sunny Mornings with Joanna and sewn On
Sonny one oh six point five.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Sonny one o six point five, Las Vegas's best variety
of the eighties nineties and today it's Sean. I got
some inspiration for you here this morning. One of my
favorite shows, Shark Tank. I love the American entrepreneurial spirit,
seeing people's passion for their business ideas. Now, Barbara Corgren,
she's one of the sharks on the show that people
pitch their ideas too. She was not originally cast, she

(06:01):
was passed over, and she shared the letter that she's
sent to the producers to get on the show, and
I think it's outstanding. I'm going to condense it a
little bit because it's long, Mark, I understand you've asked
another girl to dance instead of me. Although I appreciate
being reserved as a fallback, I am much more accustomed
to coming in first. I think you should consider inviting
both of us to LA for your tryouts. And here

(06:22):
are my reasons why. Point one, I do my best
when my back's against the wall. I love the heat
of the competition, as I've learned it brings out my best.
I've had all my big successes on the heels of rejection,
and frankly, it's right at my alley.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Point two.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
If you have both ladies in LA, you can mix
it up a bit and see which personalities make the
best combination. I have found in building teams myself that
the combination of personalities is always more important than the
expertise or strengths of a single individual. You may even
drop a man for me, because, believe it or not,
I am just as smart and mean as the next guy.
Point three. I know I could rival the best shark

(06:58):
on each show and shrewd and personality. It seems to
me the same two sharks steal the show most of
the time, and I know I would be one of them.
The reputation you have in your field is equal to
the reputation I have in mind. I know you're the
best at what you do, and I trust you'll reach
the right decision. I've booked my flight for the six
and I hope to be on that plane. Thanks Barbara.

(07:19):
I love the confidence in that letter, and frankly, it's
got me wanting to run through a wall to pursue
anything that I have ever been rejected for. Right now,
thank you, Barbara Krgrian for that. Coming up at seven forty,
gonna get you and your family into SeaWorld Assassiny place
with the name drop and I'll give you another shot
at one thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Next with the key word for the workday, payday, keep
it here. Six point five.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Let's talk about the time your dad just went way
out of his way to embarrass you.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
It's sunny.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
When I was six point five, I'm Sean. I feel
like it always comes from a place of love.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Right.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
I've found this guy on Instagram. He calls himself an
embarrassing dad and husband. He goes out of his way
to embarrass kids every time he picks them up from school.
He blasts nineties rap songs, but that's not where it ends.
He dresses up as the rapper that does the song
and gets out of the car and starts dancing.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
He did this to his daughter recently with Missy Elliott.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
I've done yourself this time.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
This ridiculously, he says, you really outdone yourself this time.
This is ridiculous. I aspire to be this kind of
a dad. I feel like he probably spends quite a
bit of money in costumes.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Though. Let's pick up a call here, Hey, good morning.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Who's this Patricia? Hey, Patricia, can you tell me about
a time your dad really went out of his way
to embarrass you?

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Oh my god, Yes, I was going on. I was
about sixteen, going on this first date with this guy
I didn't know well, and he got there early and
I was still getting ready, and my dad thought it
would be great fun to show on my baby pictures
of me taking baths.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Oh no, oh no.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
I came downstairs and myself that the album was open,
and I went, oh, no, oh, my god, thanks too.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Good.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Right, that feels a little early for that's the kind
of thing you need to save for a little bit
later in the relationship. So, oh, that's too good. What's
your dad's name, let's shout him out here this morning, John,
as a fellow dad, I appreciate the effort that he
put into that. Oh my god, thanks for treasure. To

(09:28):
have a great day, you two. I'd love to hear
some more of these stories.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Give me a call.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
We're gonna go commercial free at about eight thirty to
start your day.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
This is Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean. I'm Sonny One.
Was six point five.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Sonny one of six point five Las Vegas's Best Variety
of the eighties nineties, and today my name is Sean.
I found a new hero on Instagram. His name is
Wealthy Jev and in his bio he calls himself an
embarrassing dad and husband. He routinely goes out of his
way when he's picking up his kids from school to
blast nineties rap songs while dressed as the rapper who
does this song, and he gets out and starts dancing

(10:02):
in front of their friends.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
The whole deal. It's insanity. His kids are driven nuts
by it.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Trinette is on the line, Trinette, do you have any
stories about your dad embarrassing you in front of your friends?

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Well, there's a few.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
When I was younger, my eyebrows were like all over
the place, and my dad used to lick his thumb.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
And try to straighten up my eyebrows like it was
so embarrassing.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Usually, usually it's the mom that's doing the one, you know,
spitting on a tissue or something and trying to rub
something off your face. But I love that your dad
took it upon himself to try and straighten out those
eyebrows of yours.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Yes, yes, yes, yes. Have you gotten him under control
since then?

Speaker 1 (10:46):
I have I do my own eyebrows, like, have a
phobia somebody touching my eyebrows.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
No dad, no dad, spitting necessary anymore? Right, thank you
for that laugh. Coming up at nine forty're gonna get
you into Beyonce's Cowboy Carter Tour with some Buzzin' for
Beyonce Trivia. That's coming up next on Sunny buzzin for

(11:14):
Beyonce Trivia. We do it every morning at about this time.
Get your tickets to Beyonce's Cowboy Carter Tour at Allegiant
Stadium on July twenty fifth. So here is your trivia
question for today. What Beyonce song contains the lyrics. If
you liked it, then you should have put a ring
on it.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Pretty big hit. I think you can get it.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Coda Sunny one at six five dot com and tell
us the answer. What Beyonce song contains the lyrics? If
you liked it, then you should have put a ring
on it.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Good luck to you.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
I got your sunny story of the day here. This
is good news for local veterans. There's a local organization
called Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada. They just opened a brand
new affordable housing in North Las Vegas around North fifth
and Centennial. And these are not average units. They're in
a gated community, updated appliances, accessible bathrooms, two car garages.
It's also not just about the homes themselves. They're offering

(12:05):
things like ac repairs, roof replacements, financial literacy classes to
help people stay housed long term. So three of these
are available right now, eight more are coming later this year.
So it's all part of a bigger effort to help
veterans here locally find safe, stable housing and actually stay here.
So small step, but it is a powerful one, and

(12:26):
we're going to tackle that housing shortage here in the
valley step by step of what everything you need to
know up at Sunnywitto six five dot com.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Just click on Sunny Mornings all right.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Coming up ten o'clock a chance at one thousand dollars
and about an hour from now, another chance at Paul
McCartney tickets at ten forty.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Keep it here on Sunny
