Speaker 1 (00:00):
Travel season, it is upon us. And if you're the
kind of person that gets halfway to the airport and
then you know, suddenly wonders if he left the oven on, or,
in my wife's case, left the hair straighten. You're plugged in.
This is for you, sunny, when it was six point five,
I'm sean. Travel experts say, take a picture of those things.
They give you anxiety, right like the locked door, the
closed garage, whatever gives you peace of mind. Here's what
(00:22):
I forgot to do before I left for vacation last week.
I forgot to turn off my ice maker. Now we
have this fridge. It's terrible that our landlord provided with us,
but it's already been leaking. I forgot to fix it
before I left for vacation. I came home to a
ton of water on my kitchen floor from the leak,
but also I opened up the freezer door and got
(00:44):
buried by a mountain of ice. That was super fun
to clean up. I know it's just water, but still
not super fun. Samantha, thank you for calling in. What
did you like? What did you come home to? What disaster?
Because you forgot to do something when you left the house.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Oh my gosh, this is so embarrassing. So my toaster.
I wasn't paranoid about my toaster, and but I left
the bagel in there and I left and it was cooking.
And so when I got back from my trips, like
the cord had frizzled and there was like a minor fire,
(01:18):
like it didn't get out of hand. But yeah, it
was really really bad.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
That is terrifying. Holy cow, horrible.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Can I absolutely horrible?
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Can I tell you, Samantha that you have just given
my wife every bit of ammunition that she needs because
she unplugs the toaster every single time she's done with it.
And I constantly say, why are we unplugging the toaster?
It's just what could possibly happen? That could possibly happen.
So I am going I know she's listening. She's going
to repeat this back to me the minute I get
(01:49):
in the door.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Is good for her because no.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
One told me this. Well, I'm just thankful that your
house didn't burn to the ground, and I'm so or
you're down a bagel. Burnt bagel helped me too. Sunny
Onto six side Sunny Window six point five, las Vegas's
best variety the eighties nineties and today it's sean. So
travel experts say that if you get anxiety on way
(02:16):
at the airport about something you may have left on,
like an iron or a door unlocked, take a picture
of it before you leave, and that's supposed to help
you with some of that anxiety. I wish i'd done that.
We have a fridge that's been giving us problems. It's
been leaking, and I didn't have time to get a fix,
and I didn't shut off the water to it before
I left for vacation last week. I got home on
Sunday night to a ton of water on my kitchen floor.
(02:39):
And then, to add insult to Andrea, I opened up
the freezer and I forgot to turn off the ice
maker too, so a mountain of ice came piling out.
Not the greatest way to be welcomed home from vacation, babe.
Let's go to you. What vacation disaster did you come
home to?
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Okay, this is awful. So two years ago, I was
living in Georgia. At the time, I was like first
time condo owner, you know, like during a pandemic, and
I went away for Christmas holidays back to see my family.
I didn't even think to turn off the water to
my condo because like, why would I think of that?
And it was my first time owning my own place.
(03:19):
You know. Pipes froze on Christmas Eve and my neighbor
called and I will one to report water gushing out
of my condo.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Oh no, oh no.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
I got home to just absolute destruction. It was such
a headache. It was so awful.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
My folks used the restroom right before leaving for a
vacation once without turning off the water, and the water
was running in the toilet the entire time they were gone,
and they ended up with like a nine dollars water
bill or something like that. So Ever, since that happened
to them, I have been the paranoid one about making
(03:58):
sure to turn off the water to end every toilet
in the house before I leave.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
I would never think of that ever.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Appreciate it. Thanks for the story. Thanks Sunny one. It
was six point five coming up nine to Forty're gonna
get you some tickets for Beyonce. We're gonna play some
Beyonce trivias. Take around for that.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Your last name to Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean.
I'm Sunny one six point five.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Sonny one O six point five las Vegas's best variety
of the eighties, nineties, and today, good morning. My name
is Sean. I was out last week on vacation, but
I was flying back into Vegas on Sunday evening at sunset.
It was a perfect time, and between the colors of
Red Rock Canyon and the lights of the Strip, I
was reminded how much I love this city and also
(04:44):
not surprised at how quickly it's been growing over the
last couple of decades. Now, how about this, Yeah, you
want to talk about a trip through time. With Google
Earth the app, you can actually look back to what
Vegas looked like twenty years ago. If you pop in
to street View, you can actually scroll back and see
what your streets that you live on, maybe your favorite hangout,
(05:06):
the rest of the strip. It's been growing a lot.
You can see pretty much where anyone anywhere looked like
over the last twenty years. It's like a little personal
time machine in your pocket. They've also added a feature
to check out old satellite images, so you can really
see how places have changed. Google Earth doing some very
cool stuff. Check that out. Sunny One was six point
five coming up in a bit seven forty eight forty
(05:29):
got seven City Place and SeaWorld tickets fort you, and
then at nine forty you're gonna win some Beyonce tickets.
So hang out with us this morning.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
Sunday Mornings with Joanna and Sean on Sonny one oh
six point five Sonny one O six point five.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Las Vegas has best variety of the eighties, nineties and today.
My name is Sean. Now. If you own a Hyundai Elantra,
it is the most stolen car in twenty different states,
including right here in Nevada. Elantra is produced between twenty
eleven and twenty twenty one. They didn't have a very
specific electronic anti theft feature which is found in most
(06:05):
modern cars, and it made them just a target for
car thieves everywhere. So the Elantra top the list of
most stolen vehicles here in Nevada, with over eight hundred
and thirty stolen last year. Other vehicles that top the
most stolen list were a Hundai Sonata, the Kia Soul,
the Ford F one fifty, and the Chevy Silverado fifteen hundred.
Texas and California are the worst states for car theft
(06:27):
and over six thousand silverados were stolen to each of
those states last year. By the way, in the US,
a car is stolen every thirty seven seconds, so keep
an eye on your wheels. It's sunny one was six
point five. By the way, it is the first day
of Amazon Prime Day, coming up after six o'clock. I'm
gonna tell you what not to buy on Amazon Prime
(06:50):
Day because you will find better deals elsewhere. Stick around.
It is sunny one oh six point five. Las Vegas
is best ride of the eighties, nineties, and today I'm
sean it is Amazon Prime Day, or i should say
Day one of Prime Days. It's four days. It runs
today through the eleventh. Obviously going to be a lot
of deals and discounts on the website. Maybe you've had
(07:12):
something in your cart you've been eyeing for a while,
waiting for the price to drop. Today might be the
day to do that. It also might not be good
housekeeping says don't bother with these things on Prime Days.
Large appliances lead the list. They might actually be cheaper
during President's Day and Memorial Day sales, so maybe avoid
the dishwasher by today. Deals from third party and unverified
(07:35):
sellers may seem too good to be true, and they
probably are. If you see a third party vendor offering
eighty percent off of Lululemon, probably not real stuff. I
got burned on an RFID wallet from a third party
vendor because I was trying not to get my credit
card stolen, and turns out they stole my money because
it was a fake. Also, small discounts of ten or
twenty percent might not be worth it. You might find
(07:57):
them elsewhere for less. And I would offer up shops
right here in Las Vegas support a small local business.
Maybe instead of purchasing several things you wouldn't normally buy
but are just because they're on sale, make one purchase
from like one of our great thrift shops or vintage
stores in the Arts district, which I love to go to.
Sunny Windows six point five coming up in just a
(08:18):
few minutes, another chance at one thousand dollars with the
work day payday stick around. I got that keyword for you.
This is Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sew.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
I'm Sunny one was six point five.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
So when I find ways to save you and your
family money, I like to pass those things on to you.
It's Sunny Window six point five. I'm Sean, I got
your sunny story the day here and the Golden Nuggets
down here on Fremont Street just kicked off their week
long Shark Days celebration. It is a week of shark
themed activities at the Tank in h too O Pool
that includes live shark feedings, love that and poolside Q
(08:51):
and a sessions with divers every Monday, Wednesday and Friday
that starts at one point thirty in the afternoon. The
best part, of course, this is free and open to
the public. There's gonna be an aquatic theme scavenger hunt,
photo ops with Sharky the mascot, complimentary shark trivia bookmarks
for kids. I think this is fun even if you're
not with your family. I want to go see some
(09:12):
some shark feedings sounds awesome. And then on Saturday they're
gonna have a special night swim event with live music
and some specialty shark cocktails named after the sharks that
you will find over there at the tank. Oh put
everything you need to know at Sunny one it was
six five dot com. Just click on Sunday mornings of course,
coming up at seven am. Another chance at one thousand
(09:34):
dollars with the work they paid a Sony six. If
you have lived in Vegas for any period of time,
you know getting scorched by the sun is not fun.
You looked like a lobster. Allo isn't helping. I made
that mistake my first time ever out to Red Rock Canyon,
Sonny when it was six point five. I'm Sean. I
found this list of sunburn remedies. I love lists like this,
(09:55):
where it's you know, like use this for that. It's
a product and you're using it for something it wasn't
intended for. I don't know. It makes me grin. But
here are some things that you may have already known
but I didn't, but I want to share with you.
Shaving cream. The menthol in shaving cream will help cool
a sunburn. If ALO isn't, isn't cutting it for you?
How about this yogurts. If you lathersome yogurt on your skin,
(10:17):
leave that for ten minutes, and the probiotics are supposed
to help soothe a burn. Baking soda I might have
heard this one before. If you put out a handful
of baking soda and the cool bath water and then
soak for twenty minutes that'll help soothe inflammation from a sunburn.
And this one's wild to me. Potatoes. A potato to
the skin is like cucumbers to the eyes. The starchiness
(10:41):
will absorb the sting. Probably not as easy to carry
a potato around with you if you get burned out
in the sun, but there you have it. Shaving, cream, yogurt,
baking soda, and potatoes a few unexpected sunburn remedies for
you this summer. Sunny, when it was six point five
seven forty I got out your first chance of the
(11:01):
day to win a four pack of tickets to both
SeaWorld and sets Me Place in San Diego. Get signed
