Speaker 1 (00:00):
So what should you be expecting to spend on a
Father's Day barbecue this weekend? It's sunny Windo six point five,
Las Vegas. His best variety of the eighties, nineties and today.
Every year, and I'm just learning this, a company called Rabobank,
which is a global food and agribusiness bank, found that
one hundred and twenty five years ago. Well, they do
a study and they call it their Barbecue Index. And
(00:22):
this year you can expect to spend for a barbecue
of around ten people one hundred and three dollars, and
that is up from ninety nine dollars last year. Now,
if you're wondering do this have anything to do with
international trade in tariffs, it does not, because ninety percent
of what is involved in cooking and barbecue is produced
right here in the United States. Things like your beef,
(00:44):
your cheese, your buns, all that kind of stuff. The produce. Now,
they base the cost on each person having one cheeseburger,
one chicken sandwich east with a slice of American cheese, lettuce,
and tomato on a bun. They also get two handfuls
of chips, two beers, one soda, and a f u
scoops of ice cream for dessert. Where is the mac
and cheese? That's my question, And why are we doing
(01:05):
a chicken sandwiches instead of hot dogs? This is a
weird list to me, but that said, the biggest increase
is seen in tomatoes, which costs seventeen percent more than
last year. Chicken's up to about sixteen percent, which further
compounds my point if we should be doing hot dogs instead.
It's sunnyweo six point five. SUNNYWEO six point five. Good morning,
(01:28):
it's Sean. Now, if you are planning on doing a
little bit of summer travel this year, you might be
trying to, you know, tighten the belt financially speaking, to
help make that happen. Now, eighty five percent of Americans
admit to doing some wasteful spending. So you know, whether
it's door dash or maybe I don't know, a streaming
subscription you forgot about, we're probably all spending money that
(01:50):
we don't mean to. So here's a list of the
things that Americans admit to spending too much money. On
number one top of the list, as you can probably guess,
eating out too often. Restaurants def pay premium to go
out to eat, then impulse shopping online after that, spending
too much at convenience stores on food and drinks. You
definitely pay convenience prices as well. I think I'm guilty
(02:12):
of this one. Throwing out leftovers too often when you
could be saving those, making them go longer. Paying for
TV services that we don't actually use. How about that
for a recurring cost every month that you never expect.
And then, of course Starbucks fans. Also on the list
is buying coffee every day instead of making it at home. Hey,
if you're trying to save some money on summer travel,
(02:33):
I'm going to save all of it for you by
hooking you in the family up with some Lego Land
tickets with the name drop at seven forty and eight forty.

just took care of it for everybody. If your dad
wants to go to Lego Land, we're gonna get him

it's sonny. When it's six point five, six point it
is sunny one. It was six point five Las Vegas'
(04:25):
best variety the eighties nineties, And today, good morning, it's Sean.
I have a real special sunny story of the day today.
Former VGK defenseman Derek England being inducted into the Southern
Nevada Sports Hall of Fame tonight at least Family Forum. Now,
he had a long career before he came to Vegas,
but those last three years of his career that he
spent with the Golden Knights a real special time. Helped
(04:48):
lead them to their first ever Stanley Cup Final in
the inaugural season, which had never been done. But also,
I think importantly delivered this speech on the ice of
their first ever game at Team Mobile Arine just days
after the one October tragedy. Like all of you.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
I'm proud to call Las Vegas home. I met my
wife here, my kids were born here, and I know
how special this city is. To all the brave first
(05:25):
responders that have worked timelessly and courageously through all this
whole tragedy, we thank you to the families and friends
of the victims. Know that we'll do everything we can
(05:48):
to help you and our city heal. We are Vegas strong.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
It felt like a good day to share this. I'm
gonna put the video of this speech and a link
to buy take us to tonight's ceremony as sonnyweno sixty
five dot com. Just click on Sunday Mornings, Wake Up
with Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean. On Sunny one
was six point five. So do you have faith that
today is going to be a good day? Because it
is Friday the thirteenth, and a lot of people have
(06:22):
thrown in the towel on the day already, it's sunny one.
It was six point five. I'm Sean. The fear of
Friday the thirteenth is called periskevy deca triaphobia. It's a
real word. Some people aren't going to leave the house.
They won't travel might even cancel plans. Today. Every year
has at least one Friday the thirteenth, Some have two
or three. It's always kind of a weird day. What's
weird is no one really knows where the superstition started,
(06:45):
but the fear of the number thirteen runs so deep
in our culture that over eighty percent of high rise
buildings avoid having a thirteenth floor. Some hotels refuse to
have a room with thirteen. Some airports don't have a
gate thirteen, and that includes Harry Reid. I had to
google this. There is no gate thirteen anywhere, A thirteen,
B thirteen, none of it. I don't think they want
anyone feeling unlucky when they come to our our city
(07:05):
to gamble. Probably a little truth in that it's sunny
one was six point five. I think it's gonna be
a good day. You got a chance to win some
Lego Land tickets coming at pier at seven forty and
a couple hours left of our Capital one cardholder pre
sale before everyone can buy tickets to our iHeartRadio Music
Festival at eleven this morning. Yeah, it's gonna be a
good day. Sunny one o six point side sunny window

Dad for always always keeping your word. Always knew I
(07:49):
could trust you. That's important. And thank you for making
my childhood fun. You took me camping, coach my teams.
I got a lot of great memories because of that.
So thank you, Love your dad. Let's go to Justin
in Lone Mountain wants to shout someone. I'll go for it.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Only give a big Father's Day shout out to my
buddy Kyle, who is a single dad right now ow
Man and is going through a tough time as a
single dad, and I want him to know that it's
not lost on anyone and he's doing a great job.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
That was awesome Justin. Thank you for doing that. Single
parents work really hard. I think you're the first person
to shout out a single dad this morning, So thank
you for that. Let's go to Kate in Green Valley
wants to shout out her dad Steve, and go for it.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Happy Fathersday, Dad, you have been a great father for
the most part. I'm in therapy for the other part.
Speaker 1 (08:37):

love your relationship with your dad already that might be
the REALI shout out yet. Coming up eight thirty, we're

It was six point five, It's Sean. And Tomorrow is
Nevada's Free Adventure Day and that means Nevada's state parks
are opening their gates for free. That includes value of
Fire Cathedral Gorge. Those might be worth checking out even
if it's hot. Also, some parks near Las Vegas with
special events lined up that includes Old Las Vegas, Mormon
Fort and Ice Age, Fossil State Park, and Spring Valley
(09:23):
State Park all got stuff for families this weekend. Now
I found this list of America's favorite TV dads. Tim
Taylor from Home Improvement, the overall favorite, Gomez Adams from
the Adams Family had the most consistent appeal across all generations.
The most divisive TV dad Archie Bunker from All in
the Family. The youngest younger generation loves Phil Dunfie from
Modern Family, Al Bundy from Married with Children, preferred by
(09:47):
most men, And for my money, Homer Simpson. I grew
up with him, and as flawed a man, as imperfect
as he was, he was still a family man and
fought for his family tooth and nail, and I respect that.
A couple of housekeeping items here coming up at nine
point forty, gonna get your backstage with the new kids
on the block. And then you got until ten o'clock
