Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning, it is sunny window six point five. I'm Sean.
Let's talk about the last time that a kid unexpectedly
gave you some life advice you really needed to hear.
Seven oh two seven nine six one oh six five.
So I was recently at an academic awards ceremony and
there was a young lady in the eleventh grade who
said something that really resonated with me. She was asked
what her favorite hobbies were, and she said cross country,

(00:23):
But not for why you think she's actually terrible at it.
She said she has a habit of quitting things when
she's not immediately good at them, that she gets frustrated
and moves on to something she excels at instead. But
this time around, she decided she was going to stick
with track and a cross country even if she came
in dead last at every event, which is what's been happening.
But she discovered that for her, the key to personal

(00:43):
success was in her own self improvement and not simply
trying to be better than others. And boy did I
need to hear that incredible self awareness from that eleventh
grade young lady. Let's go to the phone. So here, Hey,
good morning, who's this, Hey, Arianna, thanks for calling in
here this morning. So I can't the only one be

(01:05):
the only one who has had some wisdom imparted on
them by someone much younger than me. Did did a
kid teach you something you needed to hear once?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Well? First of all, that was a beautiful story and
a wonderful lesson that the girls caught you. Honestly right,
it was beautiful as I learned from it. But you know,
my nephew, he I spend a lot of time with them.
He's only three years old, he's but he's a very
steep little boy. And you know, he's in the back
of the car sometimes with me and he'll just point out, look,
be a plane or you know, like the simplest little

(01:35):
things that we don't even notice every day, and and
just reminds me that he's all excited to see a
plane in the sky.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Oh, it's so cute.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
You know what, Sometimes you have to just take that
childhood wonder right. Look around and when you're in the sky.
Sometimes you're in an airplane and people can tend to
get really wound up and have a short fuse, and
every once in a while you have to remind yourself
that you're participating in the wonder that is human flight. Right,
We're all in this guy flying through the air in
an airplane, which is on its own a miracle. And

(02:06):
let's not get wound up about being forty minutes late
to wherever it is we have to go right, Truly,
I love that take some time and enjoy the airplanes.
That's a great lesson.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Well, thank you so much for the call today.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Thank you six point so.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
When is the last time that a kid gave you
some advice unexpectedly that you really needed to hear? Sunny
one of six point five. Las Vegas has best variety
of the eighties nineties, and today I'm sean seven oh
two seven nine six one oh six five. That's the studio.
I was at an academic awards ceremony recently, and in
eleventh grader she said that the key to her success
was focusing on her own personal improvement and not just

(02:45):
trying to be better than the people around her. And
I found that, as a grown forty year old man,
to be very inspiring. So let's take some calls. Here,
we go to Katrina in Spring Valley. Katrina, did you
have a kid give you some advice that you really
needed to hear.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Okay, yeah, so I'm gonna have my son. Just recently,
I can admit i'm definitely like a little bit like
emotionally immature at times when it comes to keeping myself
under control. You know, one more at a sporting event
and he's a picture so you know, it's kind of
a big deal, and you know, I to me, like,
when I look at him, I'm like, you're not like.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Hustling enough or you're not aggressive enough.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
And he just turned to me and he was like,
I think that's why they put me in this position.
I can be calm when everyone else around me is not.
And I was like, oh, okay, I hear.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
You quite quite a dose of self awareness from your
son there. I like that. I like the confidence he
had that he was very sure of himself. That's nice
to hear. How old is he He's eleven eleven years Yeah,
so that's right. No, he's got some wisdom. But he's like, look, mom,
I can handle this. You don't have to worry. I

(03:54):
work hard, I practice.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
I got this one hundred percent. And I was like, responsive, like,
you do got this.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Right now? You can just relax and enjoy the game.
That's great. Yes, Well, what's what's your son's name? Let's
shout him out real quick, Maxwell, Maxwell. Well, shout out
to Maxwell and good luck on baseball season. All right there, buddy,
Thank you, Thanks Katrina, have a great day, you too.

Speaker 2 (04:20):

point five. I'm Sean. If you are cleaning up your
grill for this upcoming Memorial Day weekend. Here's some ideas
that these food bloggers have been going crazy with on
social media. How about grilled avocados, grilled lettuce? I like

(04:46):
an avocado, I don't I don't know about grilling it.
Grilled lettuce seems weird to me. But grilled pickles, grilled pizza,
grilled and nachos. Those are all interesting choices. But I
like the dessert options here. How about a grilled rice
crispies tree That sounds better than microwaving it. Frankly, might
keep it crispy. Grilled peach cobbler sounds great. Grilled Oreo
cookies Apparently you don't just have to deep fry those.

(05:08):
You can grill an Oreo cookie. And one food blogger
swears by grilled twinkies all melty and gooey. Oh sounds great.
Imagine the grill marks on a twinkie probably looks amazing too.
