Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning studying when I was six point five.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
It's Johanna and Sean Happy feel good Friday.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
So last night I went shopping at Sam's Club.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Yeah, and I decided, you know what I'm out here, like,
let me just get some Halloween stuff right now, and
because you know it's like then I'm just gonna wait
until the week of so let me just hurry up
and get some things. And I was putting it in
my car, I was realizing things are expensive. Yes, Candy's
expensive decorations are expensive. I don't remember some of the

(00:29):
prices being as high last year, even though last year
I felt probably the same way.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
I felt like it was higher than ever.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
And it's just is like, oh my gosh, will the
price gouch ever end on these holidays.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
I've been price tracking on some of these twelve foot
tall skeletons too, and they are and they are still
more expensive than that last year too. No, as much
as my little heart would desire, that might that might
have to be like a summer purchase out of season,
trying to find a used one.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah, yeah, trying to find that when I get well right,
and it looks like we're not the only ones feeling
the pain because according to a new survey that's out there,
the average person is going to be shelling out a
whole lot more money this year for Halloween. It looks
like one hundred and fourteen dollars just to get into
that Halloween spirit this year.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
I know that.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Here's the thing about Halloween, right to me this, I
think most holidays are family holidays, but when it comes
to things that you can celebrate with your kids, especially
something like Halloween, people are willing to spend the money,
right right, So, yeah, I think people are cutting back
in other places, even if the if the economy is
hurting and prices are up everywhere, people are going to
invest in their family time.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
And Halloween is one of.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Those hollrieens memory, Yes.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
And it's one of those that you can like a
full month to celebrate at the very least.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
That's so there's a lot of.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Decorations you can do, crafts, you can make, memories that
you can make with your family. I don't blame people
for spending the money on a holiday like Halloween.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Yeah, because you're right, the longevity factor of it is
kind of nice too. Now, all told up, this year,
it looks like Americans are to drop a record breaking
thirteen billion dollars on all things spooky. I'm talking about costumes, decoration, candy, greed,
even greeting cards. I don't know why that's in here,
but greeting cards too. I guess Halloween greeting cards has

(02:12):
become a thing. And I remember on the show last
year we talked about the Boo baskets.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Yeah, that's right, right, and that.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Was like a brand new thing that people had to
spend additional money on. So maybe the Boo baskets are
going strong too.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
I think, as with most things, you can look to
social media as being a source of inspiration for things
like this. People like me, they see the crafts you
can do, like making the big spooky candles out of
pool noodles yep, and they think I can do something
like that.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Right.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
So I think you have all these dedicated, like year
round spooky accounts, these people that are super into like
the macabre and the creepy, and they year round post
these kinds of things, and I just think that exposure
has just made Halloween bigger than it's ever been before.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Yeah, social media is definitely a factor in that, and
of course people want to spend a lot of money
on things like costumes because you're going to put it
up on the gram.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Right.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
They actually said that costumes and candy are the two
categories that are taking the biggest chunk out of people's
wallets at four billion dollars each. So the main spending
is in those two areas. And I think you're right
in terms of just social media kind of being a
place that has created the buzz, yeah for.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
A lot of stuff and K pop demon Hunters. You're
about to see a whole lot of demon.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Hunters, right, as are your daughter wants it's going.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
To be the number one costume this year.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
I well, listen, I don't. I might.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
My kids right now are not at that age where
they're into that yet, But I am.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Just curious to watch it on my own as an adult.
Would I enjoy it?

Speaker 5 (03:37):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (03:37):
You would, okay, because the soundtrack is incredible, It's got
a great story, animation is phenomenal. But that said, you're
going to see it'll be you will see a that
is the social media factor. You will see about a
billion pop demon hunters at your door.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
Lots of demons.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Good to know what's coming.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Right, don't forget. We still do the name drop at
seven forty eight forty. Speaking of things creepy, we're going
to get you into Halloween's excuse me, Universal's Horror Unleashed,
which is out it to Area fifteen, seven forty every
morning on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Sunday, Good morning, It's Johanna and Sean. And what exactly
is an invisible day? Well, this is actually a therapist
approved technique. If you've been feeling stressed out, it's time
to become invisible, which basically means that you dedicate a

(04:30):
day to give yourself nothing but self care, away from
the phone, away from the news, social media obligations, all
that stuff. Take an invisible day. It's good for mental health.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
So just to be alone with your thoughts all day.
That sounds a little scary when I put it in
thoses in those look.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
At it that way.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Look at it as a day of self care doing
things that make you feel good. Yeah, and then right,
and then if, of course, if you're married with kids,
your significant other takes the kids.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
They don't bother you. Your significant other knows what you're doing.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Out the day, so they don't need to communicate with you.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
And it's a day where you can just focus on you.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
A lot of people just burn down, especially coming up
towards the end of the year and around holidays. So
if you make yourself invisible for a day, they say
that the lasting benefits are not just your brain but
your body. By resetting yourself just in one day has
lasting benefits.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
You know.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
I'll tell you I kind of see where they're coming from,
because when I'm very stressed out, sometimes there's nothing I
love more than a completely silent car drive. I mean sure, absolutely,
Like I'm talking no music, yeah, nothing, just even like
if it's nice out, windows down, just driving and hearing
nothing but maybe the wind. Now, I think that to me,
that's like a personal decompression I like to do.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Okay, so let's talk about the perfect invisible day. Ah right,
It's gonna look different for everybody. But I know I
didn't give you much time to think about this, Sean,
But if you could describe your perfect invisible day, what
are some of the things that you would do.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
I'd be in my hammock, that's for sure, because I
never get to see you.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Would still be at home.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
Part of it, I think part of it.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
It's it's just gonna be relaxation and doing talking to nobody.
I'll be in my hammock for a bit, okay. I'd
probably try to find someplace with a sauna that I
could sit in and be invisible because I hate converse.
I hate sauna conversation, okay, but lucky enough to be
in one and someone wants to chatter your ear off,
I hate that, okay. And then like a nice, silent
long drive, I would drive out to like Lee Canyon

(06:22):
or Mount Charleston or something and just take in the
scener and enjoy it. I do love a joy ride myself,
all right.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
I think for me, my perfect invisible day would be
checking into Red Rock Casino. I want a cold hotel
room all to myself. I love cold sheets, turn the
ac on up.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
And beats the hotel ac I.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Love it, right, And I would enjoy a day at
the Red Rock spat the pool, like the restaurants there.
I'd walk it over to downtown Sumone and to do
some shopping. And there's a movie theater there. Maybe take
in a movie theater. I would just create my perfect
staycation at a hotel. Listen, love my family, but I
would not want to be home could not, you know,
like stresses just pop up left and right there, So

(07:04):
I need to be away from that environment completely for
a full day. Yeah, no communication, just me myself, hotel
room and.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Good food and shopping.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
I might I like the idea of the individual movie
time too, Like I don't think I've ever gone to
see a movie by myself.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
You've inspired me.

Speaker 5 (07:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
I actually have a girlfriend who like does it, like
like once every few months, dedicates a day, not the
whole day, but she goes and just goes to a
movie by herself. She says it's the perfect relaxation technique.
So maybe she's onto something. But invisible days are becoming
more of a trend again. Therapist approved.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Now, if there's a show you would like to go to,
either on your own or perhaps with a friend, Mariah
Carey taking her Christmas time in Las Vegas residency to
Dolby Live at Park MGM, and we'll have the chance
for you to win your way into that coming up
at nine forty right here on Sunny.

Speaker 6 (07:54):
This is Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean. On Sunny one,
I was six point five.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
It is a feel good Friday on Sunny Window six
point five Sunday Mornings with Joanna and Sean. Nice to
have you back in studio for a feel Good Friday.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
Joanna happy, it's.

Speaker 1 (08:09):

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Hopefully the Vegas Valley is feeling good. And we're taking

Speaker 2 (08:20):

but we want to celebrate it with you.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
We do it twice a morning after six and eight o'clock.
So hopefully your day is off to a good start already.
Let's go Line three here, Good morning.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
Who's this Hi?

Speaker 5 (08:36):
This is Sherry.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Hi, Sherry, thanks so much for giving us a call.
Tell us what's your good news today?

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Well?

Speaker 5 (08:44):
I just received a letter today from my son, who
joined the army recently. And I have been a nervous
wreck ever since he said he was going to join
and then he would join, and I just has just
been so upset. But this letter from him, and this
made me so proud. He's so committed and he really

(09:04):
feels like he's where he should be and doing what
he should be and I just can't even be any
more proud of him, and it just made me feel
so much better. And so that was really really good
news for me today.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Yeah, wow, your kids never stopped being your kids, right, Like,
no matter what they're doing, how old they are, you're
still going to worry about them wherever they.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Are, solutely.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
And we of course salute your son. And we know
how hard it is for family when loved ones I
have to go right the family and the people that
let them stay behind. So, you know, God bless him,
you and your family. I mean, that's beautiful. Thank you
for sharing that, Cherry.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Of course, what's what's your your son's name? Tim?

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Well, thank you Tim, of course, thank you for your service.
You are a hero, not just to your mama of course,
but to all of us.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
Thank you for that.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
Of course.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Absolutely, we'll have a beautiful day, Sherry. We appreciate you
calling in. Wow, that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
That's the way to start my first feel good Friday
back after maternity.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
I love that one.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
Oh my god, I'm feeling good. I love that right now.
You got me thinking about my kids now too.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
It's you know, let's celebrate your kids never stopped being
your kids.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Well it's beautiful, right, I'm just gonna tell you right
off the bat, I'm feeling good on this feel good
Friday shun. And speaking of kids, is it because I
got a letter yesterday in a certificate Rocky is a
Student of the month.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
You ge the month for October, so.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
You know, you know they're going to be celebrating the
kids throughout the year, and I just that was kind
of cool to get a first like award for my
son and a special to see like second month of
the school year and he's already been named student of
the month and you know, he tries so.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Hard and he loves.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
School and so that was really cool to get. So
that's what's got me feeling good. So I'm glad that
Sherry kind of shared something about her kids. That's you know,
let's keep it going. Anything you want to celebrate with
your kids.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
Well, shout out to Brocky that is always yes. Well,
I'm just I don't know, I'm just my daughter is
in gymnastics. Oh yeah, you were saying that, and her
she's with a class of six year olds and her
instructor is moving into a class of nine year olds
because he thinks that she is physically, emotionally enough and

(11:27):
dedicated enough to keep up with a class of nine
year olds.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Okay, that's amazing.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
She actually starts tonight. Tonight's her first class with a
nine year old. She's very nervous, but I told her,
don't forget. You deserve to be there.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
And on top of it, like I remember, like I
feel like it was like a year ago. You kept
telling me, like you guys are trying different activities for
how to see what would stick, and so to hears
something that has stuck and that she loves and she's
advanced at it. I mean, yeah, obviously that's got to have.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
You and Karen feeling good.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Absolutely can't wait to see how she does tonight.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Let's go hallo one o six pots.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
That time of morning, we bring you some feel good
in the form of our Sunny Story of the day.
Here on Sunny one to six point five. It's Joanna
and Sean. You found something good for today as always.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Right, Yeah, some positive news in our community. Plus I
have a sunny funny I want to share with you
after it. But first the Sunny Story of the day.
Now it's gonna start off kind of solemn right here,
but uh, statistically it averages about eight thousand people here
in southern Nevada experience homelessness in a single night, which

(12:36):
that number. When I read it this morning, I was
absolutely shocked. Yeah, absolutely shocked.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Yeah, I mean, look where our studios are right here
in downtown at Las Vegas. I mean, I think it's unfortunate,
but it is fairly obvious when we're coming into the morning.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Now, roughly nineteen percent of that eight thousand total are
families with children as well, which makes that even harder
to read.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
But there is a.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Nonprofit in our community that is helping to battle those numbers.
That nonprofit is Family Promise of Las Vegas. They are
dedicated to helping these at risk families who are experiencing homelessness.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
Now.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
They provide incredible services like prevention, utility assistance, helping the
unhoused individuals get emergency motel shelter when needed, and just
over the past year alone, they've been able to help
eight hundred families in our.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Community, which just shows there's a lot of people who care.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Look, I'm always a fan of any additional resources we
can provide. To help out our on house community here
in Las Vegas, because it is evident down here, especially
in the downtown area. You know, you are on Las
Vegas Boulevard anywhere you know, north of like.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
I eleven, and it's it's very obvious. So it's tough. Yeah,
it's tough to see.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
But some good news this week continues because it looks
like they have now opened their brand new facility, a
twelve thousand square foot brand new facility excellent, the Credit
One Bank Navigation Center, which is a state of the
art resource and housing facility to continue to support those

(14:13):
families in needs. So the help is growing, which makes
it our sunny story of the day because lots of
good things is happening to kind of get those numbers down.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Love that And if this is something you were also
passionate about, want to volunteer. We'll have all the information
for you about Family Promise of Las Vegas over at
dhara website Sunny one to six five dot com. You
can click on Sunny Mornings. And I know you had
a sunny funny as well.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
You wanted to get to just something I wanted to
share this morning.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
So the Jonas Brothers.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
They recently announced that they have added a Vegas date
to their tour, so they're coming to town end of November.
Tickets for that show just went on sale yesterday, and
I have a girlfriend, Stephanie, who is a huge Jonas
Brothers fan, so I'm sure she did not buy the
cheap seats. Okay, I'm sure went all out. But then
on her Instagram story she shared something that I thought

(15:04):
was pretty funny. It was just like a photo of like,
you know, confirmed your purchase is complete, like thanks for
buying your tickets right, and then she writes on there
she goes, I got them on the buy now, tell
your husband later plan, and it just made me.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Laugh out loud because I'm like, that's a genius.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
The buy now, tell your husband later plan is perfect
and it's something I live by.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
That's uh. I just I love that.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
And also, by the way, if you do not want
to have to buy now and tell your husband later,
we are gonna have chances for you to win Jonah's
Brothers tickets on Sunday window was six point five. I'm
glad you shared that story, Caul. You give me an
excuse to talk about where you can win stuff here.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yeah, we have those tickets coming up for you because
I know that's a hot item, expensive item, and of
course we always love to hockey up with the best
tickets in town.

Speaker 6 (15:51):
You're listening to Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean on
Sonny one oh six point five Sonny one O.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Six point five, the best variety of the eighty nineties
and today good morning.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
It's Joanna and it Sean.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
And this is my favorite time of the year. We
get to be part of incredible events throughout the valley,
great weather for a great cause, and we have one
of our favorite events of.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
The year coming up.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
That's right, it is walk season. This is when the
weather starts to cool down. You can't wait to get
on the weekends and walk for a good cause. And
we're talking about the AHA Heartwalk.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
So we'd like to welcome to the studio this morning
a friend.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Of the show. We've talked to her in the past.
It is our friend Jackie Van Blair, com President.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Of HCA Healthcare for our West Division and the twenty
twenty five American Heart Association Heart Walk Chair.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Welcome to the show.

Speaker 7 (16:41):
Thank you guys for having me. I love this time
of year. Couldn't agree with you more. I'm very, very
excited about this really important event.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Absolutely, it's coming up quick Saturday, October eighteenth. Sean and
I will be out there with the Sundy Wine Oh
six point five team. We love this event. This year,
new location, Las Vegas Ballpark. Jackie fill us in on
all the.

Speaker 7 (17:00):
That's going to be a lot of fun. You know,
this is so important for us to come together as
a community for an incredibly important cause. You know, we
have an aspirational goal where one person and each family
members learn CPR, so really raising awareness and funds to
help make that happen.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
It's crazy.

Speaker 7 (17:18):
Nine out of ten people who have a heart attack
outside of the hospital die wow.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
And so we are on a stag number.

Speaker 5 (17:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (17:25):
We are on a mission where if we can have
someone who knows CPR perform CPR before they get to
the hospital, their chances are survival improve immensely.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
And so the walk is about that.

Speaker 7 (17:37):
The walk is about community getting together, having some fun,
raising awareness, and raising money.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
And if you haven't gotten a little brush up on
those skills since last year's Heart Walk, this is a
great time to come back and relearn how to do CPR.
And also never too early to learn. I think this
will be the first year. I think my daughter will
be there, she's six. I think it's never too early
to learn the basics behind to.

Speaker 7 (18:00):
Totally agree, totally agree, I mean even how to call
nine one one, how to get help. There's so many
things that people can do to make a difference.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Yeah, And I love this walk because there is demonstrations
that happen on site. So if you're not familiar or
you're just like me and a better learner with an
in person demonstration, this is the place that you need
to be now, Jackie, I know the partnership with HCA
and American Heart Association has been strong for many years.
And your hospitals I love that they rally behind this

(18:28):
event every year too.

Speaker 7 (18:29):
Oh yeah, We've got our Mountain View Hospital teams, Sunrise
Southern Hills. We are coming together. We are almost to
our fundraising goal.

Speaker 5 (18:37):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
And it's we're just gonna have a lot of fun.

Speaker 7 (18:40):
People bring their dogs and their families and it's a
great chance to be together for a great cause.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
And the Las Vegas Ballpark is a fantastic venue to
do something like this, and it makes it it's like
what is it like a quarter mile around or something?

Speaker 4 (18:52):
Maybe a half mile right?

Speaker 1 (18:54):
Maybe some of us might run. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
But there is still time if people want to, like
put together a team, ye right, people to go with them?

Speaker 4 (19:03):
How do they do that?

Speaker 7 (19:03):
So if people want to, there's still time to sign up,
still time to participate. If you go to a Las
Vegas Heartwalk dot org and register.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
We would love to see you out there.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Yeah, it's gonna be a beautiful Saturday. Of course we're
gonna get our hearts pumping together. Jackie and your entire
team at HCA Healthcare for West Division.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
You guys are incredible. Thank you for what you do
for the.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Community and for the American Heart Association. So please join
us this year Saturday, October eighteenth at Las Vegas Ballpark
for the twenty twenty five Las Vegas Heart Walk.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
You guys there, sunny one six point five.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
And that was the fate of Ophelia. Brand new music
from Taylor Swift right here on Sunday one to six
point five.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
How about that?

Speaker 7 (19:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (19:47):
Love new tailor.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
I mean, for me, I am a swiftye so she
never disappoints, you know. And this album was so anticipated
