Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning. My name is Sean.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Gen Z seems very content to completely miss out on
the brand new iPhone. The reactions from those on TikTok
have been less than stellar. So Apple announced the new
iPhone seventeen lineup a couple of days ago, includes the
iPhone Air, the thinnest smartphone yet. It's going to hit
stores on September nineteenth.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
But gen Z is.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Moving back to old basic dumb phones. They don't want
the smartphones. In fact, dumb phone sales are up one
and forty eight percent. We're talking about old blackberries going
for just one hundred dollars on eBay. The Motorola Raser
and the T Mobile Sidekick have made a big comeback.
Even the Samsung Galaxy flip phone is selling. Apparently, twenty
(00:43):
somethings just have screen fatigue and notification overload.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
I think we all do.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
I just think that they're better at recognizing it and
dealing with it. They're ready to keep it simple and
get rid of all those notifications that I am sick
and tired of having to clear off of my phone
seven times a day. I actually envy gen Z on
this one. Let's go to the weekend and Richard Mark's
next and more of Las Vegas's best variety of the eighties, nineties,
and today it's Sunday one of six point five.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
On Sunny one six point five.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Anyone else noticed that gasoline prizes have been kind of
steadily rising over the last week. Even people who know
where to find the cheapest stations are feeling the pinch
on one of them. Look, I use an app on
my phone every single time I need to fill up
to find the least expensive gas, and I have noticed
the creep gas stations that were selling unleaded gas for
(01:34):
less than three dollars a gallon for the past month
have raised their prices too. Lowest price in Vegas has
climbed twenty two cents in the last week. Its average
on up is the average is now up to three
dollars in nineteen cents a gallon. That said, let's check
out your morning traffic on Sunny Moto six point five
and then we'll come back with nickelback and Sink and
(01:55):
Lady Gaga.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Sunny one six point side.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
It is Sunny Winter six point five. I'm Sean. If
you missed Gaga when she was at Team Obil Arena
back in June.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
I got some good news for you.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
She has added dates to her Mayhem Ball extending into
next year. Now it's not going to be far away.
It kicks off February fourteenth and fifteenth, the new dates
in Glendale, Arizona for two nights, and then February eighteenth
and nineteenth in La Both of those locations about four
or five hours from here. That is not a bad
drive to see what is arguably one of the greatest
(02:31):
tours of the year. Ticket pre sales started yesterday, but
general on sale is going to be September fifteenth, so
you don't.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Miss out on Gaga.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Worth the drive, I think for one of the most
iconic performers of our time. Speaking of which iconic performers,
let's go to Madonna and Justin Bieber next on Sunny
Winter six point five, Las Vegas's best variety of the
eighties nineties and today, good morning.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
You're listening to Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean's Sunny

I have gotten this excited about a cookie in a
very long time. I feel like the Thin Mints steal
the show. It's the peanut butter patties, the Samoas they
get all of the love, all the hype.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Right.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
But these these new flavor that the Girl Scouts are
launching next year looks incredible. It's inspired by Rocky Road
ice cream and it's called Explore Moores.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
It's a new sandwich cookie.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
It's gonna be filled with chocolate, marshmallow and toasted almond
flavored cream. And it's gonna be available nationwide along with
all the other class of Girls Scout cookies.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Of course, starting in January. January it's my birthday.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
It's like they knew you can get them online, get
them in person at their pop up boots, and of
course from your neighborhood Girls Scout. But I for one
will be buying every Explore more that the local Girl
Scouts have on them when they drop by my house.
Sounds delicious. Rocky Road one of my favorite ice creams.
What an incredible collaboration between Rocky Roade ice Cream and
(04:04):
the Girl Scouts.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
I sound overly excited about this. Moving on, we.

than life, even if you don't always feel like it.
Sunny one of six point five. I'm sean now. September
is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and that feels like a
great reason for today's Sunny Story of the day. I
want to shine a little light on the Jay and
Jay Foundation. Ronnie Lowry. She is a co founder of
the J and J Foundation. She lost her twenty four
(04:51):
year old son Justin tragically to suicide, and after that happened,
her boss, Charles Brignall, reached out because he had lost
his sister in a similarly tragic manner, and together they
decided to create the J and J Foundation to help
turn their pain into purpose. The foundation provides direct funding
for sober living and rehabs in Nevada, as well as
(05:12):
support for individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, and worse. Their
goal is to help others so that other families do
not have to go through that same excruciating pain of losing.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
A child or a loved one.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
According to the CDC, over forty nine thousand people died
by suicide in twenty twenty three. It is one of
the leading causes of death in the US and worth addressing.
The J ANDJ Foundation also puts together a gala in October.
We'll put links to tickets for you over on the website,
and just please remember, if you or anyone you know
is in need of help, you can always call the.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
It's been twenty four years since the attacks on our
country on September eleventh, two thousand and one. I was
sixteen years old sitting in my English classroom when we
watched history change on our televisions, and many of us,
I think, remember the kindness and unity that flooded this
(06:20):
country in the days following that acts of kindness don't
have to be reserved for the day's surrounding tragedies. Here
are some simple ways I think we can all practice
a little daily kindness today. Even just show us some gratitude.
Be polite. Thank you goes a long way to somebody
you don't know. Help a stranger, give him a smile,
(06:41):
Call a friend, family member, ask how they're doing. Let
someone jump ahead you and line at the store, or
maybe compliment someone you've never even met. These are just
little things, right, express gratitude, be kind I think these
are just little ways we can honor what happened in
this country twenty four years ago. Today coming up more
of the best variety of the eighties, nineties, and today
(07:03):

a trip to Dollar General with my daughter might be
(07:24):
in order. They actually have some pretty good Halloween decourse
I saw last year. I shouldn't even be saying that
out loud. I don't want it to be gone by
the time I get there. Uh, Sunny one a six
point five, let's get you out to Knat's Scary.

Sonny one oh six point.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Five, Good morning, it's Sean.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
I think this is something that we can all feel
good about, you know, get behind. Time magazine just named
their twenty twenty five Kid of the Year. I didn't
know this was a thing, but I kind of love it.
TAJOZVII Minaj is her name. She's a seventeen year old
from Texas and she has dedicated quite a bit of
time to helping the elderly from falling victim to scammers.
(08:48):
Her passion started when she saved her own grandfather from
losing two thousand dollars in a scam last year, and
she has gone, I mean so far as to create
a website called Shield Seniors dot com. Its purpose is
to help educate people, help them feel less alone and
embarrassed about, you know, potentially being taken advantage of. Just
(09:08):
an incredible resource. Super proactive and forward thinking of her
to do that. Huge congrats and look not for nothing.
I have been doing scammelers on this radio show for months.
How do we make forty year Olds of the Year
a thing? Can we make it a thing?
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Please?
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Someone nominate me seriously though, Congrats to to Jaspi Minaj.

the Year coming up. Miles Smith, Red Hot Chili Peppers

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Remind you our Las Vegas Aces are on a fifteen
game historic fifteen game winning streak, never done it before.
You're going to continue that tonight at seven o'clock on
the road against LA. But let's say something about Asia
Wilson here. She is absolutely this season's MVP. She is
leading the league in total points, points per game, blocks
(10:21):
per game, total rebounds, defensive rebounds, thirty point games, and
thirty point double doubles. She is absolutely the greatest WNBA
athlete of all time and definitely this season's MVP.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
The only thing left to do is make it official.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Shout out to Asia Wilson, Shout out to our Las
Vegas Aces.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Good luck on that game tonight against LA.
Speaker 2 (10:40):

Speaker 4 (10:48):
On Sunny one o six point five.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
So are you gonna line up for the new iPhone?
Probably not right.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
I feel like the hype and excitement around the iPhone
releases has just really dropped exponentially over the last couple
of decades. So days ago, Apple announced their new iPhone
seventeen lineup. It includes the iPhone Air, the thinnest smartphone yet.
It's going to be in stores on the nineteenth. But
if you're on social media, gen Z doesn't care. They've
got this whole movement. They're going back to old basic,
(11:14):
you know, dumb phones, and sales are up one hundred
and forty eight percent. We're talking about old blackberries going
for just one hundred bucks on eBay. Remember the Motorola Razor,
the T Mobile Sidekick, those are back. The Samsung Galaxy
flip phone is selling. Those flip phones are popular. People
miss their Razor. Twenty somethings just have screen fatigue and
notification overload like all of us. They're just I think
(11:36):
better at acknowledging it and handling it, and they're ready
to keep it simple. I mean I want to throw
my iPhone out the windows sometimes give me back my
Nokia thirty three to ten that break. I just want
to play snake sometimes. Anyway, coming up, we got Benson
Boo and Michael Jackson and a chance to see the
Eagles at this sphere at nine to forty with talkback
for tickets SNY one six five. Here is how we're
(12:02):

Sonny on the iHeart app for your chance to win.
(12:24):
You got a couple more chances coming up at twelve
forty and three forty new keywords at those times.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Don't miss him.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
We got one Republic and iHeartRadio Music Festival artist Brian
Adams on the way next on
Speaker 5 (12:38):
