Speaker 1 (00:00):
It is sunny one or six point five.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
It is iHeartRadio Music Festival week here in Las Vegas.
And if you are not at the show at te
Mobile Arena on Friday and Saturday night, don't forget. You
can always watch it live on Hulu. Now on most mornings,
I ask myself, you know, do I smell good enough?
But I think I might need to ask myself do
I smell like enough different things? Gen Z has a

(00:23):
new fragrance obsession they're calling smell maxing.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Now.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
The idea is that they are layering fragrances to create
totally unique smells. So the trends gone viral on TikTok
has got like nine billion views.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
But guys are doing this with cologne.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Like one of the bigger trends is they'll mix like
a sweet vanilla fragrance with something nutty and you basically
walk around all day smelling like a bakery. Not the
worst thing in the world, but I've never thought about
doing that by blending colognes. Some TikTokers are calling it
stench maxing, but I don't know. Smell maxing is actually
kind of a clever term. Don't know that I'll do
it I'll probably just continue to lie on my deodorant

(01:01):
to get me through the day.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
That's how I roll.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
We got Backstreet Boys and Adele coming up next on
Sunny one of six point five, Las Vegas's best variety
of the eighties, nineties, and.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Today this is Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean on
Sonny one oh six point five.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Hey there, it's Sean. I'm gonna say this right now
might be controversial. Le Boo boos will never have the
staying power of Barbie. She is constantly adapting and evolving,
and Mattella is always releasing special edition dolls celebrating in
different cultures and holidays and abilities. Their most recent offering
is a Dia de los Wertos collection of Barbie and Ken,

(01:37):
and they are wearing traditional ceremonial attire honoring the holiday.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Barbie is retailing for around one hundred bucks, Ken for
around seventy five.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
But they look incredible.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Barbie's got this intricate pink and white and orange or
embroidered gown with ornate hair accessories. Ken's got a sombrero,
matching pants and vest set of bolo tie and they
both have the traditional Dia Delasmertos face paint on as well.
Just a really cool collection if you're into Barbie, or

(02:10):
honor and celebrate Da delas Moretos as well. Honestly, I
feel like those collectors edition dolls. Those are not too pricey.
They've had a lot of different things recently. They had
the what is it the type one diabetes Barbie who
had her own insulin pump. Lebron James even got his
own collectible Ken doll. He's a Kembassador Barbie, always evolving.

(02:31):
It's Sunnyboto six point five, Miley Cyrus, Whitney Houston and
Matthew Wilder on the way next. Good Morning, Sunny one
six point five. It is Sonny Moto six point five.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
I'm Sean.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas campaign that was launched
at the beginning of the month by our Las Vegas
Convention and Visitors Authority. It's been in full throttle and
next week they are kicking off a citywide sales event
all of Las Vegas.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
I guess it is going to be discounted.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Apparently it is, according to officials, the first ever citywide
sales event. Now they're calling this the Fabulous five day
sales going to kick off on Monday and then run
through midnight on Friday, and it's going to include restaurants, resorts,
and entertainment all over the valley. They're calling it a

(03:21):
citywide invitation to rediscover the magic, energy and unbeatable value
of Las Vegas. I feel like there's been a lot
of offerings lately to get people back in the doors
after what has been seen to be a struggling tourist economy.
But I'll say this, I would start with bringing back

(03:43):
all the free parking everywhere, and then we can go
from there. We'll put everything you need to know over
at Sunny one of six five dot com and we'll
come back with Faith hill Lord and Michael Jackson on
Las Vegas's Best Variety of the eighties, nineties and today

And I want to point out that twenty schools have
improved in our school district by multiple stars forty percent.
More than forty percent of schools in the district have

point five. Good morning, it's Sean. So the Jonas Brothers,
they were kids right when they started their bands over
twenty years ago. That's crazy to think about, right, And
so were a lot of their fans, which is why

(07:51):
it's so interesting to me that the Jonas Brothers are
now helping some of those very fans that grew up
with them do things like marriage proposals.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
And pregnancy announcements.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
And just a couple of nights ago, at a tour
stop in Salt Lake City, they helped a fan with
a gender reveal. This fan handed them an envelope right
after they had performed the song Little Bird, which the
guys wrote as a tribute to their daughters, which is
so sweet. Anyway, Joe got this envelope and decided to
do the reveal on stage.

in April of next year, Envy Energy is going to
be adding a daily demand charge to your bill. The
fee is going to be based on the highest energy
usage during any fifteen minute window each day and is
expected to average around twenty dollars a month.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Now.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
To offset the change, Envy Energy is going to lower
its base kill awot hour race, so most customers, they say,
won't see a major spike unless their usage habits shift.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
They say.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
The goal is to ease strain on the power grid
by encouraging people to spread out appliance use. I guess
not running your washer, dryer, dishwasher, oven, air fryer, charging
your car and heating your pool all at once.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Up Here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
I would like to know if I can see my data,
my energy data down to that fifteen minute window, so
that I can adjust right.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
I hope they make that possible. And here's the thing.
If you have a.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Rooftop solar panels or a car that you charge at home,
this is absolutely going to affect you as well. It'd
be interesting to see how this shakes out, but I
did want to make you aware. Coming up here Paul
Ack Cole Sea, and I'm gonna celebrate one of our

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Sonny ONEO six point five. Love seeing our schools succeed.
I think, even if you don't have kids in school
as I do right now, important to support our educators
and educational institutions. I want to shout out McCall Elementary
School this morning in our Sunny Story of the Day.
They were honored earlier this week for significant achievements in
the classroom that made a huge jump the school from

(12:14):
a two star to a four star rating on the
Nevada School Performance Framework, and that included advancements in math, English,
and attendance that helped with that ranking.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
And McCall is not alone.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
They're one of nearly twenty schools that improved by multiple stars.
More than forty percent of schools in the district have
made strides in those key areas. Look thank you to
our teachers for everything you do, the work that you
put in both inside and outside of the classroom.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
As parents, we have to stay involved as well.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Super important to know what's going on so you can
help with those kinds of advancements in our kids' education.
But thank you again to our local educators. If you
want to nominate your favorite public school teacher here in
Clark County to win five thousand dollars from Donors Shoes
