Speaker 1 (00:00):
This had to have been on one of the greatest
weekends in music I've ever been a part of. It's
Sunny one A six point five I'm sean A good
Morning Our iHeartRadio Music Festival. This past weekend incomprehensibly amazing.
I think, honestly, of the two nights, my favorite just
moment was Mariah Carey singing always Be My Baby to
(00:23):
an entire arena of people singing it back to her.
I mean, I had chills. Everything was incredible. That moment
stuck out to me. Ed Sheeran Maroon five. I thought
that Brian Adams was absolutely incredible. Jelly Roll may have
stolen the first night, honestly. That said the show will
(00:45):
be available on demand on Hulu starting on October second,
So if you missed anything from this past weekend, make
sure you are setting a reminder to watch the entire
show on Hulu on October second.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Because it was phenomenal.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
That said, let's get some great variety on the way
this morning to wake up. We got Jewel on the
Way one, Republic, Cindy Lauper, and more on Sunny Window
six point five.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Good Morning Sunny one O six point side.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Ed Sheeran is possibly one of the greatest live performers
I would say of all time.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
I mean that wholeheartedly.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
And if you want to see him live and you
missed him at Our iHeart Ratio Music Festival, or maybe
you saw him and you just have to see him again,
he will be at Allegiance Stadium in July of next
year and we're trying to get you out there to
see him. With Talkback for tickets. It is back, and
we're giving you even more chances to win. Now it
used to be three. Actually, let me go way back.
(01:46):
It used to be two chances a day. Then it
was three chances a day, and now we're giving you
four chances every day to win tickets. We only do
this with the best tickets we can find. Talk Back
for tickets is reserved for the best concerts can get
you into, and that happens to be Ed Sheeran this
time around.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
So here's what you're gonna do. You're gonna listen four keywords.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
That we give you at nine forty, twelve forty, two
forty and four forty and when you hear those keywords,
you're gonna send us a talkback with our iHeart app.
So if you're streaming Sonny on iHeart, you're gonna hit
that little microphone button and send us a talkback with
the keywords that we give you at those four times
and you will be entered to win tickets to see
(02:27):
Ed Sheeran at Allegiance Stadium next summer nine forty. Your
first chance to win this morning. Get all the times
at Sunnywoto six five dot com. Look on that contest page.
Coming up another one of our festival artists. I should say,
back to back festival artists. We've got Maroon five and
Brian Adams next on Sunday Windo six point five.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Good Monday Morning, Wake up.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
With Sunday Mornings with Joanna and John on Sonny one
oh six point.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Five Sunny Mornings at Joanna and Sean on sunny Winto
six point five. Joanna, I have been staring at this
empty chair is mid May, just like wondering when you
were going to come back so I could tell you,
like think they've had things happen, and I'm like, I
have no one to tell them too.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Oh no, well, I'm excited to be back in studio
with you, waking up Las Vegas. Plus it's almost the
best time of the year. The holidays are coming up
so oh quick.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
I cannot wait to be back in there.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yep, just a week.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
I had something really awkward happened recently that I.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Want to tell you about.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Okay, can't wait. Love awkward.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
So you know life changes every time you add a
new kid into the mix.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Right, Oh of course? Yeah. Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
I feel like I don't have a ton of like
personal time these days, but that's my new normal. I'm
getting adjusted to it. Soon I'm going to be adding
work back in. So I'm just finding a perfect balance, right,
or something close to a perfect balance. But I think
some of my friends are having a bit of a
hard time maybe accepting the new Joanna.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Okay, so what happens?
Speaker 3 (03:54):
So I received a text message from a girlfriend that
I don't think I was supposed to receive. Now I'm
on group chats with like different groups of girlfriends and
then you know solo chats, one on one chats, right, Yes.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
And I think I've had it happen where sometimes you
can forget which group you're in and who's in it.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
You know that that can always be a problem. You
can get tricky exactly.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Or like you think you're texting somebody, but you accidentally
text somebody else. Now, this was not the end of
the world text to receive, but it did give me
kind of a sneak peek into how maybe some of
my friends, or two friends in particular, may feel about
like my lack of time for them these days. So
I received a text message that said the following I'm
(04:34):
pretty sure she's going to say no, but you can
ask her anyway.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Ah.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
And so I received that text message, and I had
no idea what this person was talking about. And so
my initial reaction before like looking too into it, I
was just like, what do you mean? And like there
was like a like she started like texting back.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
You know, you can see when somebody.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Starts like writing back, thoughts came up. They were scrambling,
Oh no, what do I say? And then they stop
and then the dots come back.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
Yep, So they stopped, but they stopped for a little bit.
So I was like, So then that's when I started
looking into.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
It too much.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
I'm like, I'm pretty sure she's going to say no,
but you could ask her anyway. So I think this
was obviously a side conversation that two girlfriends of mine
that were having because I think the last few times
that they'd asked me to go to dinner or to
stop by a brunch they were doing, I've said no,
I haven't been able.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
To make it.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
And so I'm like, Okay, I like to be invited
even though I'm going to say no, Like, I still
want to be invited right right, But like this is
my new Norman. I'm only like four months into figuring
this out. I just feel like some friends maybe should
offer like new moms, like more grace.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
Well I think that's the kind of thing. That's what
they were doing, though, were they not. I think the
conversation they were having was, let's invite her. She'll probably
say no, but invite her anyway. That's what you want, right, Well, Okay.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
So you're reading it where it's not that bad and
listen sometimes you know, you know how it is. It's
like when you focus on something too much or like,
am I reading into this like way too much?
Speaker 4 (06:05):
And I think that's what my brain was doing.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Because I feel like, here they are, they're probably having
this conversation a few times about me saying no to things. Yeah,
and now like now that I'm privy to that information,
Like I feel like I'm going down like the rabbit hole,
the spiral of like, oh they're.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
Talking about me.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yeah, no, I know. So that's the See, that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
I think that's the part of it that's bothering you
more than actually what the content is, Right, you just
don't like the idea that anyone's having a conversation about
you and your life behind your back, right, even if
it's not disrespectful, Maybe it's just you don't like it's
just it's ichy because you don't know what's happening, right
or what words are being said. But look, I think
the good thing is that they still want to invite you, right,
(06:47):
Like they understand that you've got like new mom responsibilities
with baby number two and Isabella. So yeah, I think
if it were me, I might also because I get
in my head a lot too, I'd probably also be thinking, oh,
what else are they saying about me?
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Is it negative?
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Like even if there's no indication that it might be,
I'd probably go down that rabbit hole too and start
thinking about the worst things exactly.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Because I think at the end of the day, like
you know, women and men, like we all want to
be included in things, right, especially with our friends. But
life changes, and as you get older, you say no
to a lot more fun stuff in my situation because
of lack of babysitters. Right, Yeah, and so it's like
they're going to have to accept the new norm. But
(07:28):
I still want to be invited, even though.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
You're likely going to get a no.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
I still want to know that, like you love me
and you want me there, even though I'm probably.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
Gonna say it out.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Hey, we've talked about that joy of missing out, Like
I'm gonna love not being there, but I still want
to be invited.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Please, I still want to be invited.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
And listen, this is the one we count down and
tell them back at work, right, So, like there's gonna
be a whole lot more nos with my friends, and
I love all of you, but like this.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Is the new norm, right, And well, we'll talk more
about what that balancing act is going to look like
next week when you're back here in studio, because I
know that it is a It is a handful, you know,
with two kids, especially as with one of them being
a newborn and you know, full time job and all that,
so we can we can dive more to that, but
I think, uh and as far as wrapping this up,
(08:13):
I think they're just they're doing exactly what you're hoping
they're going to do, which is sending the invite.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Absolutely, I got to get out of my head. I
feel like that's gonna be probably like a new norm
for me too. I find myself being in my head
more now that I have more on my plate. But
definitely we'll work on that.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
We'll get out of your head. Get into this studio, please, all.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Right, I'll be back soon.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Have a great Monday, Sonny one or six point.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
This looks like it's going to be a great week
to save some money on things like staycations and entertainment.
Today's sunny Story of the Day is focusing on this
fabulous five day sale. It's I think the first time
we've ever had a citywide sale like all lacross Vegas.
So this is being launched by visit Las Vegas dot com.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
You can got all the deals right there.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Launched actually at six o'clock this morning, so you can
see everything that's available. Restaurants, resorts, shows, all kinds of
entertainment across the valley. The whole city is basically effectively
on sale, and I think this is just somewhere along
the way. I think a lot of the properties here
in town forgot that locals are a big part of
their success, and they're starting to realize that they need locals.
(09:22):
And I'm hoping that this attention on locals for discounts
and savings goes beyond just this five day sail last Friday.
I think Caesars jumped the gun on this a little
bit to try and steal some of the attention away
from this by offering their own deals across all of
the Caesars properties, things like free parking, twenty five percent
food and bevers discounts. I'm sure you can find more
(09:44):
on the Caesars website right there, but in the meantime,
go to visit Las Vegas dot com and check out
what is available. See how much of it is worth
it to Yeah, I'll be interested to hear your feedback.
Coming up next here on Sunny about a six point five,
we have Cutting Crew, Uncle, Cracker Usher, and more of
the best variety.

I personally thought that Brian Adams might have had my
favorite performance. His voice is still Impeccable's.
Speaker 5 (10:29):
Good you tell me that you want for.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
I mean flawless, absolutely flawless. Now. I also think that
jelly Roll has quickly become an artist that pretty much
everyone loves. That guy transcends generations and genres, and I
think he may have stolen the show on Night one.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Oh Top, the calb So the Calvin. The entire show
(11:29):
was incredible.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Jelly Roll also delivered just a phenomenal motivational speech as well.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
I feel like we are all very fortunate to have
gotten to experience what we saw this weekend at our
iheard Ratio Music Festival Sewan here on Sunny particularly Saturday night.
This entire like three months, I think we've been talking
about this festival. I have been so incredibly over the
moon about finally in my life getting to see Mariah
(13:37):
Carey just the icon, the diva, and she floated around
the stage like a big expensive cruise ship and gave
us all of her hits, And this one moment stuck
out to me, with the entire stadium singing the lyrics
back to Always Be My Baby inside Tmobile Arena.
Speaker 5 (14:01):
I'm going you Love.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
I mean that right there is my favorite Mariah song
of all time. If you missed her, or Ed Sheeran

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Sunny Sonny one six point five.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
It is Sonny one of six point five, Las Vegas'
best variety the eighties nine and today it's Sean and
I am thankful to have someone in studio with me.
It's been a while. Laura Foster from Opportunity Village in
studio with us this morning. Good morning, Good morning, Sean.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
How are you.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
I'm doing very well.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
I've been talking to myself for the last several months
here because Joanna's share is still unfortunately empty.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
She'll be back soon.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
But I'm happy to have you in here because we
always have you in the talk about Opportunity Village, the
great things you're doing Hallo Veen, which is on the
way very soon. If you're not familiar with Opportunity Village,
they've been around for seventy one years. They serve people
in southern Nevada with intellectual and related disabilities to help
positively impact their lives and the lives of the people
who love them, of course. And Halloween is on the
(15:42):
way very soon, is it not?
Speaker 2 (15:43):
It is?
Speaker 6 (15:44):
It opens October third, which I can't believe we're saying
is very soon, but yes, it's coming, so everybody get ready.
We are so excited to open our gates for the
Las Vegas locals.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
So it's just like your big Halloween spooky spectacular of
like put together and you know, acted by people at
Opportunity Village.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
It is.
Speaker 6 (16:06):
We have trigger treating, so we have safe trigger treating.
We have more treat stations this year. We have food
and rides, mini golf, there's a walkthrough haunted Cemetery where
people come. They decorate beautiful trees. Some are themed, some
are just Halloween in their Halloween glory.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
It's such a fun time.
Speaker 6 (16:27):
Some of the food options this year are fun things
like monster burgers, funnel cakes, all those really good items
that you get when you want.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
To go into an outdoor festival.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Right final, you had me at funnel cakes, that's all
you had to say, so good.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
Yeah, and the fall weather. Nothing beats Halloween.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Right like truly, it can't miss attraction every single spooky
season here in the valley. But we have another thing
we want to talk about here today because you do
so much good here in the community, and I want
to talk about the OV Artworks Studio. Tell us about
Artwork Studio on what your mission is.
Speaker 6 (17:02):
OV Artwork Studio is a really special division of Opportunity Village.
It comes from our Find and Performing Arts program, which
is sponsored by Boyd Gaming and Boyd Gaming has worked
with us. We just launched a brand new website, ovartstore
dot org where people can purchase the art created by
OV artists, So artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities, they
(17:24):
can go on the site and purchase either individual unique
artworks or for the first time ever, can take a
piece of artwork that they love and have it put
on a hat or something like a scarf stationery. We
are so so excited to be able to offer this
for our artists and really get their artwork out there.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
It's truly beautiful.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
I want to point out one particular item that you
brought here to the studio today. It is this hat
and it features the heart that you use on the
Opportunity Village license plates and other branded stuff that you
guys do. And you said was this heart was created
by one of your OV artists.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
It was so. Sharon is our OV artist.
Speaker 6 (18:06):
She created the artwork the Heart, and we call it
the OV Heart because we do use it a lot.
We use it on advertising our license plate. We're really
encouraging people to wear the heart and just show support
for Opportunity Village, for our newovartstore dot org website, and
really supporting our OV artists.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
It's gorgeous.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
It's like this kind of rainbow mosaic on the front
of it.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
It's also, by the way, just a great looking hat.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
I'm very particular about hats, and I think this one
just looks beautiful and it's got the love logo on
the back side of it. I think we could all
use a little extra love in the world right now.
Absolutely beautiful hat. Now the challenge, there's a challenge here
for people that post photos wearing the hat.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
What is that?
Speaker 6 (18:50):
Yes, So, BOYD Gaming is a wonderful supporter of Opportunity
Village and they have challenged us. For every social media
post we get, BOYD will donate one hundred dollars to
Opportunity Village up to ten thousand dollars.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
So we need your help people.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
You will see us I want to show people this
hat by the way too, So if you go to
our Instagram, you're going to find a picture of myself
and several other people here rocking this beautiful where the
heart is the iconic heart from Opportunity Village hat. And
of course we'll link you to the website and everything,
but follow them at What is the social media.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
For Opportunity Village.
Speaker 6 (19:30):
It's op so opp Village LV and Boyd Gaming is
at Boyd Gaming Perfect.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
And you want to throw out the website so people
can go to the ov artwork studio.
Speaker 6 (19:41):
Absolutely, it's ovartstore dot.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Org, Ovartstore dot org. Beautiful merch. It's just great to
support the cause. We love Opportunity Village and everything you do.
And of course don't forget Hallo Veen just creeping up
on us here literally and metaphorically speaking here on October third,
Laura Foster from Opportunity Village, thank you once again for
(20:04):
hanging out with us.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
We love you here.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
