Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, what up?

Speaker 2 (00:00):
I'm josh Martinez of Z one hundred, New York's number
one hit music station, with my guest Chelsea Green.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
What's going on? Girl?

Speaker 3 (00:08):
I'm so good.

Speaker 4 (00:08):
I'm sitting here on the West Coast right now at
Joshua Tree. I'm living my best life, leaving for SmackDown tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Life is good, you know what.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
I actually I'm doing this from an Airbnb bedroom in Orlando.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Oh why.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
BMB twins and the humidity in Orlando is no joke?

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Girl?

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Oh, welcome to my life.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
I mean, you're and you're a Canadian. How do you
deal with this? Girl?

Speaker 3 (00:38):
At this point, I've been living in Florida now ten years.
I'm almost used.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
To it almost being the operative word. So you listen.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
You've been in the wrestling game for a long time
on the ND's moving up finally into WWE.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
What's it like performing in New York City specifically? Though?

Speaker 4 (01:00):
Oh, I don't think there's anything better than being in
New York City, getting a good coffee, a good meal,
being around New Yorkers. My husband's in New Yorker, born
and raised Long Island boy, So I mean for me,
it's like a second home, right, like I always really
enjoy it.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
And then of course I'm such a foodie.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
I love a good dinner spot, and New York has
endless amounts of cocktail and dinner spots, so's not to
what's not to love.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
So when it comes to uh, like I said before,
you've been kind of working your way up, did you
ever have a I belong here moment?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Because I'm sure kind of feeling like you don't belong
has crossed your mind here and there, But did you
have that one moment where You're like, I, this is
where I belong.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
I'm here now.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
I definitely fell into a very comfortable rhythm within WW
when I came back. When I was released, I had
a little bit of a chip on my shoulder and
I had something to prove.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
And when I came back.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
I just felt like I settled into this space where
WW trusted me with my character work, with my promo work,
with my in ring skills, you know, with putting me
with people who I needed to elevate, with putting a
title on me, like all of those things. So I've
really felt so comfortable for the last few years.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
I mean, there's.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Always going to be just a little smidge of self doubt,
but like I try not to let that kind of
take over.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Who's been the biggest help backstage in the second go
round for you? I mean.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I would say that probably the women that I look
up to the most aren't necessarily like doing moves that I.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Want to emulate. It's more so the people that they are.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
They're literal souls, which would be Bailey, Naomi, and Natty.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
I mean, they've been there so long, they.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Continue to elevate the women's and they continue to support
women's wrestling, and they're just good people. They're really, really,
really good people. They never let this job get to
their head.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
So wrestling fans could be very intense. How have they
helped your evolution as a performer through the years.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Well, they've verbally kicked my ass many times.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
They've put me in my place over COVID numerous times.
Now I've kind of stepped into this almost like really
positive light with the fans. That's also scary. I just
try not to believe the hype, whether it's good or bad.
You know, at the end of the day, like I

(03:46):
have to just be me, do my job, trust that
I'm going to do my job correctly and if you
love it, you love it, and if you hate it,
you don't. But that's easier said than done. You know,
like social media is loud, it's really really loud, and
it's hard to tune it out. But quality filters are
a blessing.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Honey, mute to the mute button on now.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
You can do it on Instagram as well. That's right,
So Twitter and Instagram you can mute them. You mentioned
just being yourself, just being you. Is there a person
in the dou Ly locker room right now that you
would say is most like you that we would never suspect.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
No, I think you would totally suspect it.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I mean Maxine, Tiffany, And I think that doesn't surprise anyone,
you know what I mean, because the thing is is
like the people that are most like us are then
the people that we travel with, which you see on
social media. You see me take photos with Maxine, you
see me like traveling with her and posting outside of
work with her.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
So no surprise there.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
I had Tiffany Stratt in about an hour and a
half ago on zoom as well, and I asked her,
she's a pop girlie, you seem to be a pop
girl as well.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
If you can have any pop song as you're entry music.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Let me guess, she said. She said Sabrina Carpenter or
Meg the Stallion.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
No, she said Britney Spears or maybe a Lady Gaga song.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Hippany said that I would convince.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
I was gonna hear Sabrina Carpenter line somewhere, but she went, uh,
she went Britney a Piece of Me, which surprised me
because I was like, I totally forgot about that song.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
And maybe a Lady Gaga track as well.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
I'd have to think about it, but she specifically mentioned
Brittany and Gaga.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Wow, I would love to have my song, but Cardi
B sing it because my song is giving like hip
hop R and B rap and so I would love, Yeah,
I love, I'd love.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Cardi to sing it.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
So Cardi B's gonna be hosting SummerSlam August second and third,
Matt Life Stadium. It sounds like you could be a
fan of hers, or it could also sound like, you
know what, you just don't have time for her in
your world because she's coming into your world. Is there
a message that you would like to have for Cardi B.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Yes, I already sent it to her on Twitter. I
know she's a fangirl of me.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
She absolutely loves me, So maybe she should hop on
over and we should tag team. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
I feel like maybe Chelsea Green, Chelsea G and Cardi
B versus.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
I mean, really anyone. But I definitely want to go
for the champs, the tag champs.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
That would make the most sense. You have been a
tag team champ in the past when it came to
the tag.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Team at Sonya Deville, where there are set plans in
place that obviously were derailed by an injury, or was
it very much just let's just see what happens after
you guys get honey.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
We were flying by the seat of our pants. Every Friday.
We showed up to work and we ran the play.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Baby, We ran the play. Whatever the play was, we were
running it. I don't know what it ever. I never
knew the end goal. And I think that's why I
can like turn off when I get home. I can
turn off. I can beat Chelsea Green, not the wrestler,
just the person.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
I can beat the.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
Dog mom, the cat mom, because I have no idea
what next week holds.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
So that it sounds like you have an open mind. Obviously,
mental health has been at the forefront of pop culture,
sports as well. How do you kind of when you
hear those those negative criticisms, tweets, Instagram, whatever, They're always
going to populate on your timeline, unfortunately, But how does
that open mind help you harness kind of your mental
health to keep it in a very balanced positive space.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
I think there's a few things.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
One, the negativity is so much louder than the positivity.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
And once you remind yourself that.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Like, there's only five people being mean to you today
on Twitter, there's five hundred people that love you.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
But they aren't speaking up right now, and they don't
have to. That's not their place to. And then also
I just think like we have a choice to be
on social media.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
If it is not doing you anything good, if it's
not providing anything positive in your life, log off. You
do not need to be on social media. You do
not need to read things about yourself that you don't
want to read. You don't need to allow those people
into your life.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
And it's not real life.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
It's not real life. What they're saying is not real life.
If you go to the grocery store, nobody is shouting
that they're shouting at you on Twitter, and not just
like I think, of course that's easier said than done,
but like just log off.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
It's, you know, the most fascinating thing to me.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
And I have a daughter, she's gonna be two in
a couple months, and now I'm just like hyper focused. Yeah,
anything that women go through social media wise, and it's
fascinating because if you went to Public's right now and
three women complimented.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Your hair, your day would be made.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Yet if for some reason, three people double tap to
screen and you only get three likes on an Instagram post,
you feel like that's not enough, that's not worth it,
and you delete it. I'm not saying you as Chelsea Green.
I just mean kind of this as a society. So
I love that that you said that.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
I just feel like as and not even just like
as women, just like as humans. We are entering an
era where we're trying to be kinder. There are definitely
people that are being left in the dust, that are
still being mean and bullying and choosing negativity. But like,
if we as a society can move forward and just
be kinder with one another, like, oh my gosh, life

(09:34):
would be so much easier.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
As Harry Styles trademarks treat people with kindness.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
We are a pop radio station. So what are your
three favorite songs right now?

Speaker 4 (09:46):
If you have to choose, Okay, definitely anything Alex Warren
m oh yeah, oh my god, always the Alex Warren
Jojonas Collapse is one that I can't get out of
my head. Of course, like Manchild, like anything Sabrina, anything
that she comes out with. I'm sure we're gonna have

(10:06):
a new song any day now because she's an absolute
legend when it comes to releasing back to back bangers.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Tate McCrae.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
I don't really think you can get a bad Tate
McCray song, even though they kind of all sound the same.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
I like them all and then no, really that's it.
That's you know what.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
I'm not gonna keep going because like those are my
tops right now. But no know that I'm one of
those girls. I love nostalgia. So I love a good
Eagles and Brian Adams moment.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Okay, fair, I like that, but I was waiting for
a Tate McCray reference.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Canadians got to look out for each other.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
Oh, I mean, of course, of course, Tate mccray's my girl,
a Calgary girl.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Come on.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
I interviewed her once and I brought up the Heart
Family and she looked at me like I had ten heads.
I was like, all right, we'll move on.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Too young, too young for you.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Bro, that's what it was.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
I was like, oh, the Bret Heart, you know, the
Heart Family, Heart Dungeon, and she's like yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
I was like, all right, on we go, let's talk
about music next one.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
So August first, second, third, fourth, you guys were taking
over the Tri State uh SmackDown in Jersey the Summer
Slam Night one, SummerSlam Night too. Both have met Life
Barclay Suner Monday Night. We will be seeing you there
at least one time, hopefully more.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Than once, hopefully all four days. You know what, Just
go for the Grand Slam girl, right, It's right.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Hey, it's never it's never too far fetched.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
There you go, Chelsea Green one more time. Appreciate your time,
gro thanks.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
For having me. I'll see you in the Tri State area.
