(00:00):
Hey, you know what's going on? I'm Josh Martinez from the Superstar Crossover
on iHeartRadio and New York's number onehit music station Z one hundred with my
guests Xavier Woods. What's going on, Bro? I'm good man. How
you doing chilling? Uh? Augustfifth Summer Slam up in Detroit, Big
Show. How different are the stadiumshows compared to the basic arena shows.
(00:22):
Uh, they're different because there's somany more people there, obviously, Uh.
And the energy, it's just wild. When you pack that amount of
people into one building and they're allfocused on the same thing. It's it's
almost like an odd of body experience, you know, because everybody is so
focused and just yelling and screaming, and there's little kids, there's old people,
(00:46):
and it's it's people from all walksof life, you know. And
honestly, when you're standing in thering and you're looking at this sea of
people, it's it's kind of breathtaking. It's amazing that this thing that we
happen to love so much to thepoint that we wanted to as many days
a week as we can for ourjobs, that this many in this amount
of people, this these different kindsof people love it to the point that
(01:07):
they will come and sit down nextto each other and put all their differences
aside. All the things that theymight not have in common don't matter because
right now they're watching wrestling. Youknow. It's awesome. And September two,
it's a special date. It's mybirthday. Easy to birthday. I'm
on the fourth. Really, soyou and Beyonce there we go. Yeah,
(01:27):
yep, I want to say Ihave salmahayak and bam bam bigelow.
September three, Oh okay, it'sa good month, man. Shout out
to our dads who are probably sittingthere on Christmas, like, I ain't
got nothing. You don't get this, yeah Christmas. So you're a G
(01:53):
four host nowadays? Yeah, soG four Actually I found out on Twitter.
I was on an airplane and Irealized that get on Twitter on the
internet in the air and h Gfour was just randomly terminated. I got
no email, got no call, that all of our jobs were God,
it was. It was a crazyday. How well, so literally when
(02:14):
when we found out about Twitter, you found out? Yeah, yeah,
so I never never got a callan email, and then I just hit
up all the When I landed,I hit up all the other host and
they already had like a group chatgo on. The group chat was blown
up. We're like, what happened? They're like, yeah, it just
it kind of imploded, and butwe had fun while it lasted. You
know, there you go. Butthe good thing is that you have that
(02:36):
under your belt, you have thaton your resume. Right, Uh,
You're not gonna be wrestling forever, nor should you be, really right,
what is the next phase of yourcareer? Next phase of my career?
So one thing that I've always beenpretty focused on is is what the next
chapter looks like, just because Ithink that's with something that and not to
get t stop me if I'm gettingtoo deep. One thing that I don't
(02:57):
think a lot of us talk aboutas as adults is that there are chapters
to this. You are not goingto stay in the same profession your entire
life, most likely, you know, so me for for me as a
professional wrestler, eventually that chapter ends. And being able to talk to so
many of the veterans and seeing whatthat was like for them transitioning to not
traveling anymore, into owning a business, into building a podcast, whatever it
(03:21):
is. That takes time, andit's scary because this is what I've known
for almost twenty years. This islife, you know, I've been I've
been a wrestler longer than half mylife. That's how I've identified myself.
And so I've been doing a lotof work in the video game space because
I wanted to do two things whenI was a kid, as be a
pro wrestler with w w WW Superstarand work in video games. And so
(03:42):
made this YouTube channel eight years ago. Up up, down down where we
play at games. We're doing allthis stuff, and so I've been able
to start writing a couple of pagesof my next chapter before this one ends,
because I wanted to make sure thatI'm that I'm set up that I
can still have fun. My dadsaid, if you have a hobby that
you love and you can turn intoa job, that's how you live,
you know, And so that's allmy focus has been. So you're gonna
(04:04):
see me hosting more video game stuff, bouncing around doing tournaments here and there,
and also I'm trying to host agame show. I know. They
just booked Ryan Seacrest to be thenew host of Will of fortune after sage
that leaves, but he can keepthe seat warm from me. And then
when I'm ready and I've got mychops in the in the field, I'm
gonna beyond there. What would beyour dream game show to host? Honestly,
(04:26):
probably Wheel of Fortune? Really, yeah, for ones that are already
established. If I had, ofcourse my magic wand I can bring one
back. I don't know if youremember this. There was a show on
Nickelodeon called Nick Arcade. Yeah thatI want to host the new Nick Arcade
on nickelode That's that's the big goal. Well, I mean, listen,
(04:46):
you do a lot of stuff withinNew York City. That's where I'm based
out of, right. I knowyou've run around the city often. Why
not set up a meeting with Viacomand Nickelodeon and all the people there and
present it to them. So sowithout saying too much, I mean,
we may have been talking okay, you know, but it's always good to
put the goals out there, keepyourself accountable. I'm a firm believer that
your thoughts become things, right,So manifestation is real. I mean I've
(05:13):
done radio in Iowa and Ohio andthen finally got my dream job as an
adult, you know, at thebiggest radio station on the planet. And
that's because I had an alarm clockevery day that would go off that would
say I will be at Z onehundred. And that's been on my alarm
since like fucking two thousand and nine, you know what I'm saying. By
the way, just as as aside note, I was talking to someone
(05:34):
about you the other day and Isaid that you have one of the most
underrated physiques in wrestling today. Idon't think that when we talk about bodies,
right, we talk about someone's transformationor someone how bigger they much bigger
they got. You've just been kindof solid since you know the TNA is
(05:57):
what is your number one when itcomes to consistency in remaining in shape.
So I'm I take this stuff.I'm on this stuff that my my parents
gave me. It's called genetics. It's amazing. I highly recommend it to
anybody out there. Uh No,I've always been very focused on I'm just
trying to necessarily not necessarily just maintainall the time. Every once in a
(06:18):
while, like I'm trying to growright now, I'm trying to put some
put some meat on the shoulders.But I don't. I don't count macros
or any of like this. Idon't know any of the science, but
I'm I've always kind of been theperson who just goes off what my body
tells me. I know that ifI eat a full pizza, that's not
good for me, So I don'tneed to count that or write that,
(06:39):
you know, yes, yes, agree allegedly, Sorry, it's twining twenty
three. They could have something betterin it and nowt But like if I
if I want to, you know, lean out some I'm gonna eat a
bunch of rotisserie chicken. I'm gonnaeat some broccoli. I'm gonna eat some
apples, some oranges. Increase thefruit, increase the water. Uh.
And then if you can, youcan literally feel yourself growing in a bad
(07:00):
way or a good way, youknow. And it's having honest conversations with
yourself about how you feel, notnecessarily how you look. It's how you
feel, because when you feel good, you're gonna look good. And that's
really what my I guess my mantrahas been this whole time. We're gonna
kind of bounce all over the place. Would you consider Pokemon to be an
(07:23):
anime. Yes, okay, ofcourse, so our previous guest, so
this is, by the way,it's a Superstar crossover. So our previous
guest has a question for you,and then you're gonna have a question for
our next guest. Our next guestwas Adam Cole. I don't know if
you've heard one of those guys.Yeah, yeah, my boy. So
(07:46):
he said that his favorite anime wasPokemon, but then he kind of stopped
and didn't know if the Twitter trollswould come after him. So we just
wanted to get a confirmation from someoneof your status anime. The only the
thing that I think people would sayit's not animy, like, oh,
it's too pop. You're like,I think, relax, relax. It's
like one of the biggest money makingfranchises of all time. We should just
(08:07):
be happy that an anime is onthat pedestal. You know, they held
us back in Dragon Ball Z,but now we got him with Pokemon.
Adam Cole's question for you was whois your favorite member of the party and
why is it Chugs? Oh,man, man, I guess I will
(08:31):
say Chugs. I guess I willsay Chugs because he is the kindest of
the bunch. He's the nicest ofthe three of us, and he just
he just takes a beating from Breezeconstantly verbally. The verbal abuse that Breeze
puts on him is I don't knowhow he deals with it. And so
he's he's my favorite because of hispatience. That's so cute. Our next
(08:56):
guest, it will be an ae W wrestler. Don't know who yet.
So what question would you have forthem? Oh? Okay, okay,
I'm trying to think of a realquestion because I have a bunch of
garbage questions in my head. I'vegotten questions from your favorite match, what
(09:18):
got you into wrestling? Too?How much do you miss me? From
Saya? For example? Okay, okay, what's your favorite part in the
movie White Chicks. If the answerisn't Terry Crews with the whistles, then
(09:39):
but what's the only other option? He's in the club with the dog.
That's the only option. Now,it's so sick, it isn't it's okay,
I don't know. I love thewhole movie. I love the whole
movie. That man, man, that's a good movie, and it's it's
it's it's just like stayed the testof time, stood the test of time.
(10:00):
Whatever. I'm not an English major. You can put it on right
now and it's still dope. Youknow what? After that, as soon
as we get down on throwing iton the TV. So I'd like to
do a quick game of this orthat. All right, this is gonna
be kind of New York City slashChildhood edition. All right, here we
go, Brooklyn or Manhattan, BrooklynPizza or Chinese food, Pizza, tattoos
(10:28):
or piercings tattoos, Midtown or DowntownMidtown. Yellow Cab or Ubers Yellow Cab,
Jimmy or Jay Usso Jay Sega orNintendo Sea Donkey Kong ors three Fighter
(10:54):
Fighter PlayStation or n sixty four whichPlayStation original PlayStation in sixty four PlayStation or
Xbox originals PlayStation. What is yourfavorite video video game of all time?
Tech and seven? Seven? Yeah? Why specifically seven, because so this
(11:18):
it's the latest one. Eight isabout to come out fairly soon hopefully.
But my favorite game was Mario KartDouble Dash on the game Hue at Mario
Kart's Unreal. But I've been playingTech and seven is probably the game in
the past like two or three yearsthat I put the most time into because
we played so much in the lockerroom. It got to the point where
were mashing buttons, and they gotto the point where we're kind of learning
combos. They ain't got to thepoint where we're sidestepping and counter combo wing
(11:41):
and doing all this stuff. Sowe're like legitimately growing as a tech in
community in the locker room, andI just I spend so much of my
time just jumped into it. Sothat's my game right now. So locker
room wise, where you been,Doug, So, Kofi had ankle surgery
right, so during that draft, came over to RAW and had to matches
with with Dom and then I've beenjust getting big at home, dude,
(12:05):
I've been getting huge. I've beendoing Dungeon and Dragons appearances. We're doing
USFL appearances, and that's the interestingthing. So we haven't been on TV
in a minute, what like amonth, two months about but the thing
that people don't see is all thestuff that we do outside of the ring,
and we have been working relentlessly onso many other things, and so
(12:30):
we'll be back in due time. We'll be back in due time. There's
if you look at wrestling, thelandscape has has changed, and I love
what it changes because it's always coming. It comes up like a slow pace,
and then all of a sudden, you see all these faces are faces
that have only been there for likesix months or a year or a year
and a half. And that's what'skind of happening right now. So many
people are filtering in and so aspeople filter in and they get established and
(12:52):
the crowd gets to know who theyare, then all of a sudden,
new day, we're back on theattack space. How excited are you for
specifically Jay Usso, but the USO'sas a whole to get to the level
that they're at now. So excited. It's been awesome seeing their growth throughout
the company. So when they firstcame in and then move into face paint
(13:13):
and then turning heel, and thenlike really finding their legs and growing into
what they are now and some ofthe best performers that we have on the
roster, and they have been fora very long time. But the fact
that they get to show it nowand kind of live in it, I
think that only makes you better obviously, and it's been great seeing this this
come up and that we've been seeingfrom Jay, especially because when people were
(13:37):
coming into the Bloodline, he's gotto sit there and think, oh,
I got my ass beat to getinto this. Everybody's just getting let in,
like what is this? So tosee him finally pop off has been
really awesome to see because it's it'sbeen a long time for him. It's
been a long time for both ofthem, so it's right now is a
really good time for them. Sotwo final questions. Number one, who
is the most underrated performer in thegame? Today? Chat Gable, M
(14:03):
You're the second person in the lastmonths to say him, because it's very
true. There are a lot ofvery underrated people. And not to get
on a weird high horse, Idon't believe that wrestling like owes you anything
you know, like wrestling is itsentity in itself. And we're all trying
to be the absolute best that wecan be, and we all want to
shot, we all want to beon camera, we all want to have
(14:24):
these long, grueling matches to showeverybody how hard we've worked and what we've
been able to do. And Ithink that they're right now, especially right
now, not just in WW we'vebeen all of wrestling. I don't think
that there's been a time where therehave been more talented people across the board
in this industry ever. And that'snot a slide on the previous generation.
But I do believe that the generationthat comes before you, it's their job
(14:46):
to help you become the best generationof all time. So it's our job
to make the next generation the bestgeneration of all time, so that think
get better for the boys, forthe girls, and for the fans as
well. So right now, seeingas many people that are as talented as
they are in this industry, itmakes me so happy for the future of
what we have as pro wrestlers,to see people grow. But I for
(15:11):
me myself personally, I want tosee Chad Gable get a spotlight because he
deserves one. He's a guy whocame in Olympic level wrestler and fell into
this and learned it quick and asathletic, agile, smart, creative,
all of these things. And somy vote is for Gable. And that's
a very long with the way tosay that. My final question, what
(15:33):
is there left in your wrestling careerto achieve and why does it have to
do with this thing, but bythe side, both of them, both
of them. So specifically, Iwant the white leather Intercrtinal Championship. I
like a story. You know.Obviously, me and Seth Rollins are the
only ones to be Roman. Youknow, up until Jay has pinned him,
(15:54):
we don't talk about mine, butthat's fine. But in my head,
I feel like, in order toclimb that mountain and become world champion
one day, I need a USChampionship run. I need an Intercontinental Championship
run. I need to not onlyprove to everybody, but but more importantly,
proved to myself that I can Ican stand on my own as I
can do this like as as asolo guy. And that doesn't mean that
(16:15):
I need to break away from cofiorE at all, because what we do
is we tell stories as a family. I think a lot of wrestling has
stories of jealousy and backstabbery. AndI want this leather and this metal.
So I'm not friends with you anymore, bro. Friendship is the most important
thing on this planet to me.That's the only way that we survive.
That's how we have societies and communitiesand we grow as a human race.
(16:36):
You know, so that's our focus, is telling those stories in wrestling,
and so hopefully at some point wehave the chance to tell that story through
through your boy. And by theway, shout out to you guys.
Eight years y're still together, nodissension amongst the ranks, storylines or anything
like that. So kudos to Yahfor making it real. I appreciate it,
(16:59):
man. It's something that's important.We just don't we don't want to
tell the same stories as everybody else, and we probably have have, you
know, missed out on a fewthings because we've wanted to stick together.
But those things that we've missed outon would a would are nowhere near as
important as what we have as atrio. You know, I think all
three of you are doing well,so you think so one more time,
(17:22):
Davior would appreciate you, bro. Thanks man,
