(00:00):
Um, pucket, I've got acouple of things I got to tell you
this week. Okay, are werecording, Yeah, we're recording. These
are just little tips and tricks thatI think I've shared where I know where
we're going, where you're going withthis. So, first off, to
be successful in fantasy golf, youneed to do some research, right,
(00:22):
and it usually helps some of thatresearch. Should be listening to this podcast
because we do, you know, put forth quite a bit of effort into
each episode the second and I thinkthis is probably the most important thing to
be successful in fantasy golf. Submityour pick by the deadline. Oh if
(00:44):
you missed it, I missed it. We recorded on Wednesday of last week
today, so I automatically thought itwas Tuesday. Didn't worry putting in my
pick. And it's okay because CamYoung finished fifty ninth, I've done I've
been there, been there on that. But I was convinced. I was
like, it's gonna have We're gonnahave back to back weeks of where you
had Tony Finow that you wanted topick but you couldn't because he'd already used
(01:07):
him. And then I have KimYoung and I didn't make the pick and
he was probably gonna win. Butluckily for me that did not happen.
Well, at least um, atleast you didn't have. At least you
didn't. I'm swore effing Wyndham Clark. Okay, so that is actually the
first god I hate when I hateWyndham Clark so much with a passion.
(01:30):
You probably can't read my notes here, but that is the first order of
business that we are going to discuss, and that is Wyndham Clark. Wyndham
Clark's a punk um and you,I mean, for people who this might
be their first episode of our podcast, why don't you let them know why
you hate Wyndham Clark. Well, because the week before I took Wyndham Clark
in I don't know, Oh wasit Vendanta. Yeah. I took Wyndham
(01:53):
Clark there because he'd been playing great. He had was checking all the box
is you know, you get aguy that's kind of on a good streak,
he's looking for his first win perfecttime. The course set up perfectly
for Wyndham Clark. It was noteven a it's not a hard course,
was not a hard field, allof it. I don't even know what
he finished. I mean, thankgod he made the cut. I want
(02:15):
to say, he's like fortieth orsomething. I think you finished twenty fourth.
That's fortieth in my book. Yeah, no, it was not.
You were not happy. You werenot happy, and you had every ring.
And then, of course, asit always always happens, yeah,
the next week, and I can'teven count how many times this has happened
to me, where the next weekthe guy that you take who disappoints wins
(02:38):
the whole damn thing. So hewins the Wells Fargo this past week to
secure his first PGA Tour win andfu Wendham Clark Yeah, well yeah,
so, as you mentioned, itis his first PGA Tour win. So
he now has won eleven million dollarson the tours. That's joining in twenty
(02:58):
eighteen. Not too shabby. Annawas an elevated event. Yeah, one
point six million last week. He'sfifth in head X points right now.
He's got six top tens this yearthis season. Of course, one of
them was not can a guy justcatch a break? A gal just a
break? I mean, I justcannot pick a winner right now. I'm
(03:23):
with you. I will tell you. Here's his stat line. Let's go
back to February to the Phoenix Open. He was T ten, Genesis T
thirty three, Arnold Palmer T thirtyfour, Players T twenty seven, Valve
Spar fifth, Punta Kana sixth,RBC Heritage T twenty ninth, Zerich third,
Mexico Open at Vedanta twenty fourth,Well Spargo first. It's just it's
(03:47):
such a hard sport. Yeah, these guys think it's a hard sport to
play. They think it's really hard. You know what's hard, Hey,
professional golfer. You'll listen and leanin real close to the speakers picking on
you sons of bitches. That's what'shard. I don't know what's going on
in your daily life. I don'tknow if you've got a drinking problem.
I don't know if you're sleeping around. I don't know what's going on.
(04:08):
It's true, figured out or letus know more. Yeah, if you've
got a side piece golfer, yeahyou're listening, just hit us up,
let me know. Yeah, althoughnot to take you that week when Joel
Damon told you not to take himthe week after his wife had a baby,
he did pretty damn well. Somaybe even when they think stuff is
going on. Yeahside that you don't. You let know what's going on in
(04:30):
your life, and then we'll decideif we want to take that risk on
you or not. It's a hardthing we do here, this trying to
prognosticate gambling, I'll tell you that, and trying to pick a winner of
this thing. But yeah, Godbless the people that do it well because
I don't. It's unbelievable, andI think, I mean, we're not
terrible. Again, you look atour overall stats this season, we're not
doing bad. And now have Igone through and added them all up?
(04:53):
No, I have not. Thatwould take forever. I feel terrible.
Just to wrap up on a WindomCark though, sixty seven sixty seven,
sixty three sixty eight. That iswhat he shot last week. Beautiful.
Yeah, so I did look upor I did do our stats for other
golfers. We discussed last day.Again, I haven't done it all this
season because and this was definitely oneof our worst tournaments that we've had all
(05:16):
year. So Cam Young, asI said, was fifty ninth. Wyndham
Clark of course won first. MaxHomo was our best finish. That's who
you went with right. Yeah, well with Homo, Yeah, at leasy
he did something for me, forGod's sakes. Yeah, I got a
top ten finish. So he finishedT eight, Patrick Cantley T twenty one,
Fowler and Gary Woodland T fourteen,Hoveland T forty three and Rory T
(05:41):
forty seven. So not our bestperformance, that is for sure. But
you know what, I know whatit only says. You know what it
means you bounce back this week. That's right. We're going to do great
this week. We're going to dogreat this week. We're at the AT
and D Buyer Nelson at TPC CraigRanch in McKinney, Texas. Already some
news coming out of the tournament becauseJordan Spief has withdrawn due to severe wrist
(06:04):
pain. That's a big one.Obviously, he's you know, he's sponsored
by AT and T and then don'tyou know, I think since becoming a
partner with AT and T, Idoubt he has ever ever missed the tournament.
So that's a going to be ahuge loss for you know, the
golf world, but you know, for AT and T and everything. But
he wants to get ready for youknow, next week, the week after
the PGA Championship in La. Soyeah, we'll see how he does or
(06:27):
not. It's not in La Whatam I thinking? No, it's not.
It's in um the place in theMidwest. You mean it's that the
US opens in La. Yea,my ben nowhere. So he needs to
get ready for that and wants torest up, and so yeah, I
could see why he didn't want toplan it. I'm sure for him was
probably a difficult decision to make.It was it's in Rochester, in New
York. It was in the Midwest. I can't well, you know,
(06:51):
New York Midwest kind of the samething. Well, you know, I
have a West Coast, same typeof people. Basically everything that's west of
Colorado or east of hard just allthe Midwest. To me, I agree
with my West Coast biased. Um, okay, so early on, just
well, we'll just there's two peoplethat I'm seeing everyone discuss, and that's
(07:12):
an obvious one in Scottie Scheffler. He has um a streak of twelve straight
top fifteens. Did you know thattwelve straight? No? Yeah, doesn't
surprise me though, No, notat all. But when you see it,
you're like, wow, that's alot. That is a lot.
I wouldn't. I I just wouldthe purses nine point nine nine point five
(07:32):
million, and so the winner isgonna get what like the winner gets one
point seven Yeah, yeah, I'mnot. I'm not using Scotty Cheffler here.
There's no not With the PGA nextweek and then the Memorial in two
weeks. It's the same as wediscussed with Tony Final or not Tony Female
with John Ram right right, correct, Yeah, maybe he wins, but
(07:53):
okay, you still got like athird, second or third place money on
him. Yeah, I just Iwouldn't do it. It's it's not it's
not worth the risk of him playingpoorly, let's say, and not winning.
And okay, so he finished hissecond third top five, which is
awesome, right for him, Yeah, but not for you. You degenerate
in your in your golf league becausethat you don't want that you want him
(08:15):
to win it even if he winsit. I mean it's it's it's one
point seven it's not much. Sono, I would I would get away
from him, Yeah, because yeah, you'll you win, you get one
point seven million, and then hewins the PGA Championship and everyone in your
golf league who picked him gets threepoint six million dollars who still last?
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, SoI would steer clear of any one of
(08:35):
those top players. I mean hereally is. He's the only like top
top player, yeah, you knowon the again that's playing in this thing.
I mean kh Lee has wanted twoyears in a row. I mean,
he could be a play here ifyou haven't used him, Tom Kim,
if you haven't used Coucher, TOMHOGIhe's he's played well. They're fifteenth
on the tour in greens and regulation, he's top thirty and par three and
(08:56):
par four and par five scoring,so he could be an option. I
know Jason Day hasn't fared well ateasier courses, which is weird. Yeah,
especially coming off a course like WellsFargo that his history and track record
would suggest that he doesn't do well. And this is considered an easy course.
It's a long course but super widefairways and easy scrambling and you should
(09:20):
be able to get a bunch ofbirdies. But for some reason he just
doesn't do well and those types ofcourse, I guess he likes more difficult
courses. And did I dream itor did I see something that said his
vertigo is back. Oh right, really, yeah, that's not good.
I don't know now, I feellike I mean, I do have weird
dreams, and a lot of themare very realistic. But well it's a
(09:41):
weird thing. I'm out. I'mout, No way get me, I'm
out. I don't like him.Oh yeah, I'm really confirms he's fighting
vertigo again. This was last week, so that would mean that would make
me nervous because that's of course whathappened to him at the US Open when
he was playing here at cham Bay. Okay, yeah, I was there.
(10:01):
I saw him fall down. SoI would that alone right there would
make me want to wait until hegets that cleared up before I'm trying to
bet on him to win any golftournaments. And he could prove me wrong,
but I'm just going to err onthe side of caution with that one.
Heddki's is a perfect two for twohere, he's got a tied third
back into twenty twenty two. Um, but you know he's got that neck
(10:26):
thing that's going to be bothering themall season long. So I wonder,
you know, God, you takehim this week and is that stupid neck
thing pop up and you're like,fu, man, what's going on?
Right? So it's not the PGAChampionship, so he's not going to fight
through it. He would just saythat's that's. That's the other thing too.
It's like these guys that are gettingready for like the PGAH Championship too.
(10:46):
I think that kind of like whowho who? They who say to
themselves like, I got a realisticshot to win that? Like Scheffler.
I think Day finds himself in thatcategory. Um, you know, Adam
Scott probably thinks he can still wina major, which he probably can,
but you know the rest of thefield, I'm not sure if they think
that they can actually go on andwin it. So it's kind of hard
(11:09):
to bet on a guy because where'stheir mindset at? Is their mindset at
winning this or is you know, they're looking ahead to the PGA Championship in
New York. I mean it's agood feel. I mean twenty six of
the top ninety players are there,in thirteen of the top fifty, but
it's you know, once you getpast Scheffler, it's you know, the
top players are you know kind ofdown on that list. Yeah, for
(11:31):
sure, Um, just a note. You had mentioned kah Lee and that
he's won there, so he's thetwo time defending champion. We've only played
at this course twice, this tournamentat this course twice, so he's won
it both times. This will bethe third time they've played there. And
they're saying he's starting to peak again. So his latest results to nineteen at
valspart twenty three at Masters and thenfinished tied for eight the last week.
(11:52):
Take a run at him. Whynot? And this stuff I found.
Hell, I'm gonna book him inright now, just for that. I'm
literally just gonna take right screwing. Here's this this stat. If you if
you haven't thought that that he's agood idea, listen to this. He's
gained more than twenty nine strokes tothe field in his last eight rounds at
this course. And the majority he'sgoing to gain people weight, No,
(12:13):
yeah, the majority twenty five pounds, So like twenty one of those came
on t green shots. That's right, Yeah, yeah. I mean I'm
always big advocate if if the guy'sgot a great track record at a golf
course, that player obviously feels comfortablethere, and there's clearly you just read
off the stats. He's won ittwo years in a row, so obviously
(12:35):
cage Lee has a great track recordthere. So if it's a non elevated
event, it kind of makes senseto pay, you know, to probably
grab him if he's available to youin your golf lia exactly. So,
yeah, it's And then one ofthe experts that I was talking about him
again said, for a second thereit looked like he was going to peak
a week early at the Wells Fargo. But obviously christis averted, so they
(12:56):
think he'll don't peak too early. That's what men always do it. Um.
You mentioned Tom HOGI yeah, Isaw quite a few people talking about
him. Um. And they comparedhim to Jason Duffner in twenty twelve.
Yeah, that was a long timeago. I was like, oh,
I can kind yeah, a littleDuffer, a little Duffner to him.
(13:20):
Yeah, but again he's he's good. He's good around the green, he's
great at scrambling. It's the easiestscrambling course. So if you do,
like find yourself a little awry withthe driver and you're you know, pushing
all over the place and all thatkind of stuff, I mean, I
wouldn't worry that at this course aboutthat and if he's really good, he's
really good at scrambling, then Ithink he would be a guy that you
(13:41):
could kind of look at and say, oh, that makes a lot of
sense there. Yeah, and thenanother one. I saw Tyrell Hatton,
you know, her favorite little angrylove him. He does not have any
history at this course, but heis top ten on tour in strokes,
gain, total off the tea andapproach, so um, a good stat
there for him. That would workwell here. And you know, he's
a guy that probably wants to be, you know, getting ready for the
(14:05):
PGA and so maybe a good weekhere kind of preps him for getting ready
for the PGA Championship. And againthe field not being you know, terribly
great, he makes a lot ofsense here. I can't use I use
him with the match player but ohokay, I can't remember who I but
yeah, he was. I meanhe's the betting odds I think for had
like the second highest odds. Yeah, correct, behind Sheffler. He's fourteen
(14:28):
to one. Sheffler's four to one, Hatton at fourteen to one, then
Lee and Day both at eighteen toone. Tom Kim is playing a little
bit better of Lates twenty to one. Okay, so some of that's changed
since this one that I see here, but yeah, it might have altered
what we're looking at. I meana deck U's twenty five to one.
Seewoo. Kim's pretty good odds thereat forty to one, like Shamas,
(14:50):
Power is shouldn't play well there, even though he hasn't played great lately.
He's at forty five to one.I just love his name, James Power.
It's a great now. It reallyis one of the It really is
one of the class sick names,is it not? Yeah, it absolutely
is. Yeah it is. UmOkay, so there's Do you have someone
that's standing out to you that's afavorite, then you're gonna go with cage
Lee. I was looking at ashameless Power, but I give mean cage
(15:13):
Lee, and I want to makesure where um I want to find try
to find where cage Lee Tea's off. They say, you want to look
for guys. They're going to teeoff early on Thursday. Bunch of rain
and winder in the forecast, andthere is a thunderstorm, so they think
that the earliest people get off, especially on Thursday, get a lead,
(15:37):
those are gonna be the best scoringcondition. So of guys that we have
talked about already. Huh, Terrellhat and will tea off at eight thirty
four am. This is Eastern time, so yeah, this is a team
off there. Um, just tryingto think of any other early ones that
we have mentioned here so far's kindof the old Kim Tom Kim. Yeah,
(16:03):
Tom Kim's at eight thirty four.Okay, So Tom Kim, Well,
here we go that that group ofTom Kim, A, Deckie,
and Hattan all tee off together ateight thirty four. Okay, So one
of those guys might be a gooda good choice. Adam Scott teas off
right before them at eight twenty three. I don't know if we've mentioned him
yet, but he's got some prettygood betting odds so far. Other than
(16:26):
that, the kind of the leadersin terms of gambling perspective and guys that
we've already talked about. Now yougotta go, you gotta go pretty far
down here. I mean HOGI isone thirty three, along with Davis Riley
and Shama's Power Scheffler's with Cage Leeand Jason Day. Okay, I'm gonna
strike that cage lee they are oneforty four, what is gonna be late?
(16:56):
And I don't know how much youwant to put in into that early
morning tia in early morning tea times. But and the just some are saying
that the weather could get turned reallyreally bad there and Fort Worth and then
going earlier would help out for sure. I could see that. And then
also, yeah, if it getsreally bad then they're going to have to
call it or delay one. Thenthose people are now going to play around
(17:17):
and a half yea yeah too,so yeah, exactly right. Um,
just a note mentioned he or talkingabout Tom Kim. He did finish tied
for twenty third last week at theWells Fargo. Tom missed the cut at
RBC Heritage, but you may rememberhe was tied for or he yeah,
finished tied for sixteenth at the Masters, so he's doing pretty well. He
finished top twenty here last year, tied for seventeenth. Okay, so all
(17:42):
right, he's got a little bitof experience here. He seems to be
doing pretty well. Yeah, Idon't know. He's a guy, you
know with Tom cam seems to beon the cusp of stardom and it just
hasn't quite gone there yet with him. Yeah, but he was like he's
on the cusp of it and gettingready to kind of turn around and kind
(18:04):
of be the guy that I thinka lot of people thought he could be.
So I mean I can see himobviously kind of doing that and being
that guy. Yeah, for sure. And then Shamus Power, he's played.
He has some history here too.He tied for seventeenth last year and
ninth in twenty twenty one, finishedninth in twenty twenty one, and then
(18:25):
just finished eighteenth last week. Sooh he did was that power? Yeah?
That was Shamus Power. You alsomentioned Matt Coucher earlier. He tied
for third at the Valerio Texas Open, nineteenth at RBC Heritage, finished twenty
third last week, and in histwo appearances here he's finished tied for twelfth
(18:45):
and tied for seventeenth. So twotop twenty finishes for Coucher. Here's that.
There's that one little stat. Itwas that Ron Class guy that had
this about Jason Day's finished position inhis last ten events in a week average
feel with easy scoring conditions. Imean, I don't know how they come
up with this stuff. I mean, they got stats for everything. Yeah,
So this year AMEX he finished eighteenth. Then he went to the RSM.
(19:08):
He missed the cut. Maya Kobe, he was twenty four, twenty
first Shriners, he was eighth, fortint fortint he would misscut twenty twenty two
and that same stuff. A rocketmortgage seventeen three m sixty fourth Byronells and
fifty first AMMX, forty ninth RSMmisscut. That's weird. God, that's
(19:30):
where he just does not do well. He needs to be challenged on easy
courses. And then one more noteon Tom Kims. You brought him up.
Yeah, at average sall average ballspeed. Why can't I not talk
today? My god, I'm havinga stroke. Average ball speed. I
shouldn't joke about that. I guessaverage ball speed on driver heavy courses,
(19:52):
which this will be. Twenty twentytwo, he was at one hundred and
sixty four miles per hour. He'sup to one hundred and seven now,
and he jumped to one hundred andseventy three at Wells Fargo and his driving
distance was up to three ten, which was ranked him twenty eighth in the
entire field. So starting to hitthe driver better. Yeah, he is
(20:18):
for sure. I mean he's agood player. You know, it's you
see it. He's got all thetalent in the world. You just kind
of waiting for him to kind ofput it all together, and maybe this
is the week where he doesn't.Yeah, he's got one win this year,
four top tens, fifteenth in FedExpoints. So since last year when
he joined thirty two events, twowins, made twenty seven of thirty two
cuts, which is pretty impressive.Yeah, one third place finish, seven
(20:44):
top tens, four or five topfours, No five, got those backwards.
They don't count top four is it'stop five? Yeah, they don't
do top four is ash? Yeah, come on, just top fives.
What are we doing here? Idon't know. I'm an idiot and a
loose sponsors. Okay, stop it. We got a lot this uh lose
sponsors. This podcast brought to youby No. One, Tom, Kim,
(21:11):
Hadecki Hatton. I don't know.I think one of those three kind
of like in that group. I'mkind of being sold right now in this
early morning weather thing and get outof town before that weather hits. I'm
going I'm debating here between Kim andHatton and I of course, have to
look and see who I have.I think I might have used Hatton as
well, which would if I have, makes it obviously much easier. Huh,
(21:33):
exactly right. Um, we'll haveto see. But I like that
idea too. I'd already liked theTom Kim and Tiro Hatton ideas. And
then they add that they're playing inthe morning. Is yeah, rain,
rain, wind every single day, thunderstorms really really kicking in. So yeah,
well, you know, it's thatthat time of year, right springtime,
(21:55):
and in Texas here you're gonna getthat. So yeah, I'd like
to get out early before it justreally hits the fan. Meanwhile, here
we're gonna have a seventy one Thursday, seventy five Friday, eighty eighty four,
ninety eighty one. That is thenext week we'll get out there and
hit the golf course. I know, right if you were not I had
(22:18):
my first or not my first.I had my first lesson in a long
time yesterday. Oh my gosh,it was so good. My friend Alex
is a golf instructor at Everett GolfingCountry Club, and he is so good.
Shout out to Alex. Where togo Alex? He had me doing
all sorts of different things to tryto get my hips at Dirty Jesus.
But like golfing on one foot,I was. We worked on bunker shots,
(22:41):
we worked on chipping. What doyou tell your husband? God?
This Alex guy, he really justgot into my hips, really got that
swingle and be like, at leastI didn't have to, And he'll still
also be talking about golf because Idon't. It's about It's about time somebody
else put in the work because Iain't gonna do it. Damn it.
That's right, That is right now. I just want to go out and
(23:03):
practice. That's good. Yeah, out there and swing the clubs. Yeah,
it's so damn busy. I justI haven't been able. I haven't
we have a golf league that I'min. I haven't even played my damn
golf league yet. I'm the captainof our women's golf division and I have
only in the Saturday events because Ican't play in the weekly events because yeah,
we play on Tuesdays and I justcan't carve out time, got baseball
(23:26):
and other stuff and isn't work out. Yeah, well, I agree,
I'm with you. Otherwise I don'tlike playing crappy weather. Well that too.
It would work harder if it waslike it is going to be.
Yeah, if it's like today,I'll play. Yeah, I'll be like,
who needs to do the work Iwas doing? Let's go golf.
That's true. You know what,Life is better with more golf. It's
true. You need that on aT shirt. We should do that on
(23:48):
a T shirt. Yeaster could aboutsimply Seattle. Simply Seattle can be a
sponsor. Yeah, we'll just sponsorsponsor everything. Life is better with more
golf. There we go. Ilike it. Yeah, alright, on
that note, go out and play. Okay, okay, get I'm straight b
