(00:08):
Sounds really regal. Well, wegot a couple of queens in here.
So, Pucket, have you everhad music that makes you feel so important
as you're joining our show? Aright, No, this is the first.
This is the first, but it'sit's just you know, it's perfect
for you too. That's right,Queens of our radio stage. Bow every
time you guys are in the hallway, we have to bow down to you.

(00:30):
I mean, it took you guyslike six months to start, like
to actually catch on, But I'mglad everyone's figured it out now, thank
you. Well, you know we'reon a learning curve and this. Yeah,
that's right, that's right. Well, Pucket is joining us. I'm
sure lots of our listeners are awarethat Pucket and I do host the Nineteenth
Whole podcast. It's usually weekly. We did take a couple of weeks off
just because golf was slow and wewere really busy with holidays and all star

(00:53):
stuff and all that hullabaloo going on. So we are back a little yeah,
exactly. We are back for theOpen Champion and ship Week, the
fourth major, one of the biggestdeals in all of golf, and I
feel like I first we'll just startout right away. Do you think that
Rory is Rory your favorite going in? Well, I mean we talk,

(01:15):
We talk about him a lot righton the podcast. I mean we both
we both love him. We lovehim all the time, and so you
always want to root for him andyou hope that he can win another one.
You don't want to see this thiscontinue to go, you know,
year after year. I mean he'snine years I think is now the length
between his last major. So youknow, I want to see him get
him done because he's he's good forthe game, he's been he's been great

(01:38):
for the game for for for manymany years. But you know he's got
a lot of pressure on him towin that next one. And you see
it when he gets into those thatweekend and certainly that final day that I
think he starts to probably feel alot of that pressure on his shoulders and
has to deliver just not for himself, Ash, but you know, for
kind of like the world of golf. And I think a lot of scar

(01:59):
tissue last year of how he maybedidn't necessarily lose it, but he didn't
he didn't win it last year whenwhen um, you know, camp Smith
was able to come back and justhad a historic a Sunday, So maybe
the last week and winning the Scottishand how he wanted to come back in
that fashion and gives him a greatmomentum heading into this week. Do you
think the pressure is even more consideringthat the last time he won his major

(02:21):
was at this golf course in twentyfourteen? Probably some comfort level though,
right, right, he feels comfortablethere and so that probably can't can't hurt
him, And but you know,he's just gonna have to be facing these
same questions every major that comes upwhen he doesn't win it, right once,
he once he checks this off andwins the next one. If he
does, then you can put allright, he's won it. It's been

(02:44):
nine years now, we finally wonit. And then the next one will
be of course, you know Augustaand the Master, so he can finally
you know, complete at all.But yeah, he's he's the betting favorite
going in. He's playing great golf, has been playing great golf and familiar
with the area. He's won itbefore and so I'm excited to see how
he does. Yeah, me too, And it's interesting. So he won
his event last week. Cam Smithwon his event Live Golf London last week.

(03:07):
Cam Smith, of course, thereigning Open Championship champ b in that
sounded weird to say, yeah, thank you. How do you Cam Smith
has not really been a factor inany of the majors thus far. Do
you expect him to step up thistime? Well, we talked, but
we talked about this before the Masters, right, and we were like,

(03:28):
wow, we don't know how thelive guys are going to do because they
don't really play all the stiff competitionand they don't play seventy two holes,
they only play fifty four. Andthen you know, all they did was,
you know, dominate, dominate theMasters, and then they go out
and of course Brooks wins the PGA. And I just think that these guys
are extremely They're extremely talented in thegreat golfers, and I think Cam Smith

(03:50):
will will just be fine each ofthe last There's a note that Justin Ray,
who does kind of like the statsinfo, used to work for PGA
Tour and I think he does theathletic now, but said each of the
last five Open winners finished in thetop fifteen the week of their their title
defense. Okay, obviously with him, you know, winning it um.

(04:10):
You know, Smith has got onehundred and eleven birdies and eagles in majors
the last two years. That isthe most of any player. And then
he's also one of three uh tofinish top ten in each of the last
two majors, along with a Schefflerand Rory. So he is a as
you know, he's he's a bigname golfer and a big time player and

(04:31):
when the majors come around, heusually delivers and this is a perfect course
for him. Yeah, it definitelyas a speaking of the course they have,
it has undergone some changes. Iknow, I think they did.
It made a change to seventeen. They've added some bunkers. They've they lengthened
it just a little bit. Ithink it went from a par seventy two
to a par seventy one or maybethe opposite. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah, seventeen's gonna be seventeen's abrand new hole. They just they

(04:54):
created a brand new part three whichis not not too long, but it's
got a bunch of you know, bunkers around it. And because the way
that it's kind of position and whereveryou land the ball, that just has
these false fronts all around it.So if you don't kind of land in
the middle. He landed to thesides of this green, the ball is
just going to roll off into oneof those into one of those bunkers that
when you see it on television, these guys go in those those bunkers like

(05:16):
six feet deep. I mean they'rethey're massive. Yeah, I don't know
how they do that. I don'tknow how. I mean, I don't
know how you get it out.No hit right damn thing. Yeah,
I would just be buried in there. Have you ever, like if you
you've played Chambers right on eighteen,Yeah, no, I haven't actually know
if you never played it to goto the bunker one, the one in
the middle of the of eighteen, and I don't know if it's quite that

(05:39):
deep or I don't know how deepthat one is, but I mean it's
pretty damn deep. It's more thanthan six feet I believe, but I
mean, yeah, it's I meangetting out of that stuff is just treacherous.
I mean, that's the teeth ofthis golf course is going to be
these bunkers and then the rough andyou know, the wind will play a
factor coming off the ocean. Butif the wind is not a factor this
week. You can just listen everyonetalk about that. It should be a

(06:00):
pretty gettable course. I mean thelast two times they've played there. I
mean, Rory wanted to want tosay he was eighteen or seventeen or eighteen
hundred. Tiger was seventeen or eighteenhundred. So if the wind's not blown,
it should be easy for these guys. Um. Just to clarify here,
I have not played at Chambers, and I don't know that the eighteen
hole with a bunker, But atMill Creek we used to have a bunker
on the left, a pretty deepbunker. They've they've mellowed it out now.

(06:24):
I did get in there once andit did take me twelve shots to
get out of it. You knowwho did play You know who I was
playing with in that bunker on eighteenat Chambers though, your husband? Oh,
well, and he went in there. Yeah? Did he get out?
Yeah? I can't you know whatit was so long ago, I
can't if he did get it eventually? Did Yeah? Eventually, surely he

(06:45):
got out. But it took hima minute. Yeah, it took him
a minute. Yeah, I wouldI would probably just end up picking that
if I'm wrong. He'll correct youtonight. Oh, yes, that he
will for sure. Um okay,So do you have any fun little stats?
Every every tournament you go on youfollow somebody on Twitter that has some
fun stats, and you tell usthings that we should look for. There's
my favorite? Uh yeah, wellyou oh you want you want like the

(07:08):
the driving curacy. Yeah, weneed that, but we also so we
need two things. We need that, but then we also need like what
is it like what golfers that work? Well, I guess it's kind of
a combination. Yeah, I needdriving a curacy, I need bogie avoidance.
Yeah, that's that's your favorites,the bogie avoidances. Well, I
just think that anybody that obviously isgonna hit the ball straight is gonna and

(07:29):
now the so so stupid because everymy new favorite stat is yeah, hit
the ball straight. Stat Yeah, hit the ball straight. You just gotta
keep it. You gotta keep itin the fairway. You cannot you cannot
be off the fairway at this placebecause you're gonna be rolling on those bunkers
and then you're gonna be rolling obviouslyinto uh you know, the rough,
and you're gonna be problems all overthe place. Um in terms of we

(07:50):
talked about this earlier on our show. There's these UM stats that they looked
at, and just in terms ofthis type of course and the layout,
in the conditions, you know, there's there's gonna be some you know,
odds on these guys are high, but Abraham answer but is high odds.
But also Corey Connors like eighty fiveto one, he's second in terms of

(08:11):
driving accuracy in terms of these conditionsand how they perform under that one.
Jordan Spieth is always going to bea prime player in this one. He's
got great numbers in this in thesetypes of environments, playing over there in
terms of these conditions, he's alwaysfared well. Uh and um the Open
Championship. But yeah, people thatcan just avoid not being off the fairway

(08:37):
are going to do a great here. I mean, you know, and
it's gonna still be the same topplayers that we always talk about, I
think probably for every for every major, you know, you talk about Ram
and Rory Scheffler is going to beright up there. Scheffler's got seven consecutive
top fives. He has not beenoutside of top twelve in nineteen straight events.
The only thing that's holding him backfrom having like a Tiger type of

(09:01):
season is simply his putter. Andno one can really figure out what's wrong
with this putter. But if hegets that going this week, which he
might be able to get it goingbecause it's going to be a slower Greens
because of the greens over there.Yeah, Cam Smith already said they were
slow. Yeah, Cheffler could runaway with this thing if he gets hot,
because that the only actually, theonly thing that's prevented him from not
winning almost every single week has justbeen his putter. No one can figure

(09:24):
out that. It's not a mechanicalthing. It's not it's not anything that
he's doing set up wise, it'sjust he's not making the putts for some
reason. Yeah, it is bafflingbecause I mean he's still keeping himself in
things, unlike John ROMs who seemsto always fade away by Sunday. But
Cheffler's still keeping himself in there evenwith the rappy putter. Yeah, and
I again, yeah, it's justprobably a thing of confidence I think with

(09:48):
him more than anything that it's umthat's probably been you know when you look
at his play, it's just heprobably just doesn't feel confident when he stands
over. But you look at hissetup and the way that he puts the
ball, it looks all the same. It's just that stuff is just not
going in. You know, webrought up Ram's name. He's trying to
become the first player, i thinksince Tiger since two thousand and five to

(10:09):
win the Masters and the Open Championshipin the same year. So that would
be a storyline I think for JohnRam going in it. And yeah,
he has been much more effective inthe beginning of the season that he has
been uh lately, But you know, again, it's it's John Ram,
and you know, all these guysthat we have grown accustomed to to be
on top of the leaderboard will probablybe there once again this when the weekend

(10:31):
comes round. Yeah, you cannever ever count Ram out, that is
for sure. Which makes it sodifficult because when you're using these big names
like Scheffler, like Ram, likeRory, you want to make sure or
have at least the best possible shotof using that name and getting a good
finish so that you're you know, actually getting some monetary value out of it
in your fantasy leagues. And it'sso frustrating when you know you're you're seeing

(10:52):
that people are picking Ram and it'sjust on day one he's having a bad
day or you're picking you know,it's just it's he seems so hard to
read right now. Yeah, I'vepretty much given up on my fantasy league.
So I'm just I'm just I'm justthrowing any names. I'm just throwing
all the names out there because it'sunbelievable how bad I've been this year so
uh in terms of of our mygolfers in our league. But you know,

(11:15):
well you'll be happy to know Iforgot to make a pick again last
week. My picks are dependent onus actually podcasting on time. And I
can't believe you forgot again. Iknow again. And I even was like
a third time. Yes, Ipulled it up three times to start doing
my research to figure it out,and then I kept getting distracted and I
wouldn't go back. And there yougo, big fat goose egg for me

(11:35):
last week. Um, all right, So if you were putting money down
on one of the favorites, whoare you putting money down on? Uh,
well, I'm gonna you know, you get Scheffler at seven. You
know, some books seven to one, eight to one. I mean,
I'm just gonna I'm gonna bank thatPutter is gonna come back, Okay,
Scottie Scheffler. And so if Iwas gonna go chalk, I'm gonna go
chalk on Scottie Scheffler. If Iwas gonna go, you know, outside,

(11:56):
and you know, if we're gonnago uh, you know, uh,
you know, a big pick, you know, just go off the
books here a little bit. Idon't know what you want to say.
Is a twenty to one, thirtyto one. I mean, I love
Patrick can't Ley of thirty to one. Patrick Can'tley is the only player to
finish in the top fifteen in thelast five majors. So I would I
would think Patrick can't lay at thirtyto one. Jordan Spief again, we

(12:16):
talked about him a lot. He'salways just has a great track record of
these things. He's at thirty toone. Wyndham Clark at fifty to one,
and you know, I hate him, so you know that, yep,
But he's the US Open champion.I think him at fifty to one
is a good one. Justin Rosehas had a sneaky good season, so
good value at forty five to one. I mentioned it with Jim earlier Corey

(12:39):
Connors eighty five to one. Thisis the segment of the show people don't
listen to the podcast where I justname as mini golfers as I possibly can,
so then when we come around thenext week we can say, well,
we picked one of them, becausethen and I look, I list
everyone we've mentioned, and then Icheck and I'm like, well, look
at how well we did. Yeah, exactly, We weren't wrong. Yeah,
we talked about a lot. Whodo you like ash who was on

(13:01):
your list right now? I meanit's hard to go against Rory honestly,
just because he seemed really relaxed afterhis win on Sunday and he doesn't seem
like he's got a lot of stressgoing into this. But I we This
is something we talk about with allthe majors, is utilizing your live golfers
because you can't use them in anythingother than a major. So I'm leaning
more towards a live golfer. Idon't know how I feel about cam Smith,

(13:26):
and I don't know if Brooks windowis. Have you used Brooks yet?
I have not. I see Isee if if you have if you
honor that philosophy of taking a liveplayer, that I would I would take
one of those two. Yeah,And that's so that's that's what I'm looking
at. Potentially. I was curiouswe had I guess somebody texted into your
show yesterday asking Jim for a darkhorse pick, and I said we would

(13:48):
cover that at some point today becausewe always, you know, I always
like to pull out a random name, and you always find a dark horse
or have somebody that you're here. You have the most random people. You
have people I've never heard. Iknow, I know, I know,
but I Jim's was special to me. Oh yeah, Robert McIntyre, that's
my dad's name. Oh yeah,Well we have a bet on that one

(14:11):
too. Even said Robert McIntyre isgonna finish ahead of of of my guy
Corey Connors. I mean, mymy, that would be mine. I'd
already mentioned with Corey Connors eighty fiveto one. He hits the ball straight,
he doesn't get any trouble. Um. He tends to have bad weekends.
But if I were going to takea long shot, I think Corey
Connors for me would be would bea long shot winner. He can play

(14:31):
in these these tough conditions of hisball flight, the way it's a um,
I think would be would would fit, would fit here at this golf
course. So that would be mine. Okay, Um, I'm gonna throw
out min Wooley. Oh yeah, yeah, he's like a men woo Yeah.
I think it's uh fifty to oneodds, so not great. Um
yeah, but um, he fromwhat I've seen is that he he's been

(14:56):
talked about quite a bit and Ithink if he can play well with his
irons, then he's going to bein good shape. So well, I
mean it's it's the courses. Imean, you know it's set up and
you know, pretty long. ButI mean these guys are such long hitters
now with their irons, it doesn'teven matter. I mean, can they
can they pull off what Tiger didback in zero six, where all he
hit was his two iron and neveryeah, never hit his driver and never

(15:18):
hit his five wood. I mean, I mean, these guys are more
accurate now with that stuff. Buthe could get away with it, and
he's a hell of a golfer andjust it's and he's a guy that's just
kind of waiting for his time towin. Maybe not a major quite yet,
but he'll win more and more inthe PGA Tour, and he eventually
probably will win a major. He'sthat good and certainly that talented of a
player. Yeah, I'd pick himto finish in the top ten. That's

(15:39):
my advice there. Okay, yeah, good with the top ten. Yeah,
well, just make sure you makeyour pick. Yeah, I'm you
know what I that I need.Yes, I will. I'll do that
today because we did this on aTuesday, which is our normal day.
So now I'm on schedule to godo it right now, right there in
a commercial break. I will doit in the commercial break, I promise.
Okay, I'll close my eyes andmake a pick between Kept and cam

(16:00):
Smith, or maybe i'll throw Menuliin there. Who knows. All right,
Buck, thank you so much forjoining us. Go get a nap
and feel better. Okay, thankyou, Thank you soon
