but other than that, everybody won all weekend long, and
that is a very good thing if you're a Houston
sports fan, and hopefully the winning will continue both tonight
and to the extended future. We can get in too,
the Astros, we can get into the Rockets, we can
get into everything else. But the University of Houston is
in the final four, and man, the fact that they're

going to be playing Duke is so delicious because everybody
hates duke, including Adam Wexler. Even Adam Wexler hates duke.
He might not even be able to admit it on
live radio, but he knows deep down in his heart
he's with the rest of America. U of H is
who all of America is rooting for coming up this
weekend when they take on Cooper Flag and the rest

of the Duke Blue Devils. Matter of fact, the only
people I know in America outside of well the Duke
geographical area of rooting is several members of the map
Thomas household.

Everybody wants you of H to win this game, and
if they win that game, they're one went away from
a national championship.

Big, big, big effort as per usual from the Cougars
to get them there yesterday afternoon. That was as dominant
as performance you're gonna see in a tournament game between
two teams at that level, and I mean ever, that
was incredible. They dominated from the start. Tennessee had no chance.
There was no here come the volunteers at any point

during that game. They did not shoot well, which I
definitely think you of H had a lot to do with,
even though they kept saying during the broadcast where they're
getting some open looks, Yeah, you're gonna get open looks
during a game but you don't want any of them
the way that they're coming. They may end up being
open shots, but you didn't work twenty five swixt seven
eight seconds for that shot. You had to work twenty
five eight nine seconds to get that shot, and that's

why a lot of them didn't go in. They set
the all time record for fewest points in a half
in a tournament game, with just fifteen allowed to the
Tennessee volunteers. It was awesome. They've been awesome. Nothing has
changed for them. They just go out there and crush souls.
It's great, it's amazing.

I don't think there should have been too much surprise
about this when the field was unveiled, and that's the
way it played much of this season. The debate was
exactly who will give these teams a test? If anybody.
I still think the Cougar's path to the final four
has been incredible in that well, they had to play
two of the other best teams in the country. You

obviously couldn't play any of the three best teams in
the country. They drew number one seeds. You can't play
any of them till you get to San Antonio. But
you could argue they played the next best team, and
I believe they did. I believe Tennessee was the next
best team, the best of the number two seeds, and
I think by a wide margin, Gonzaga was clearly the
best of every other team. And heck, they were an

eight seed, totally ridiculous. And the Cougar's just had answers.
Who's the most important talented Cougar's player.

Who's the next most important Cougar's talented player? It's probably

That is how deep. One example of how deep this
Cougar team is Arsenal had moments, Wilson had moments when
Jay One got in foul trouble, Javier Francis had huge moments.
They are incredible. They're definitely the deepest team and usually

in a tournament, that is necessary in an NCAA tournament.
But we will see the favorites to win it still
the Duke Blue Devils. Obviously, that means they are favored
to beat the Cougars open at four and a half
point favorites favorites to win the tournament, followed by Florida,
U of H and Auburn. The other matchup is that
SEC matchup between Florida and Auburn. All four number one

seeds got there. I'm sure quite a few people had
that I did as well, but it has been increasingly
more obvious as we got to this point. It was
being talked about over the course of the year. This
could be this could be the team that does it.
This looks like a team that might do it. And
it should have started very very early games against Alabama

and Auburn early in the season, right here at Toyota
Center when they took on the Auburn Tigers, and it
gave you an indication of what might be in front
of them, and then it just kind of brought everything together.
Looking forward to Saturday night, they draw the prime matchup.
I suppose obviously the five to ZHO nine start a
touch early on Saturday.

Duke U of H the matchup two hours and forty
minutes after that tip off one. It's scheduled for probably
tips off just a shade before eight o'clock on Saturday night,
they get to spend some time in San Antonio. I
imagine the fans that have been traveling with them for
the last several years, six straight Sweet sixteens and now
a second trip to the Final four under Kelvin Sampson,

a seventh final four overall. But those fans that have
been with them throughout have been making the trips. Well,
this trip was probably one. Even before we got to
this Monday, you had your eyes on and said, well,
we're gonna make it there. I feel like we're going
to be there. Let's see if you have h can
join me or vice versa. You could have bought your
tickets first, but you're also allowed to go ahead and

Well, for all to talk about the regional distance or
lack thereof, for all of the other teams that weren't
you of H, there's no excuses now.

Well, I think Kelvin kind of mentioned this before the
games were played, and I couldn't agree more.

By the way, it doesn't matter because of the setup.
They're not playing in a gym with all Purdue fans
playing in a stadium. They're playing in a completely impossible
for the fans to impact the game.

Yeah, so the distance means, of course it was full
of Purdue fans like it was full of Tennessee fans.

The two teams that probably had the most fans there
were the two teams that you have h beat. And
I don't mean there's no advantage disadvantage of the basket.
There's literally it does not impact the game because of
the setup of the stadium the way it could if
you're playing in front of seven thousand people at Fertida Center,
when all seven thousand are on top, are rooting for
the Cougars and they're on top of you, and this

is what this is what college is. College basketball is
all about. At college football does some extent, but college basketball,
that is home court advantage tournament college basketball is totally different.
And yeah, it was non impactful. The other way becomes
non impactful is when the team that's filled the stadium
up has no chance to win. Tennessee had no chance

to win yesterday. I'll give Purdue credit considering the game
was tied on the final possession for the Cougars, I'd
say Perdue had a chance to win, but not when
the Cougars executed one of the most brilliant tournament plays
in NCAA tournament history.

How about this.

Either of those two teams gave them much more resistance
than they got yesterday. That's a given. But I think,
and look, I'm always gonna be this guy because I
just have a Houston chip on my shoulder at all times.
Twenty four to seven. As far as being a sports
fan in this town, how can you be? And it's
not like Duke is overwhelming favorites, and I even understand

why they're favorites. I guess, I guess. Listen, it's not
even about their offense. How are you overlooking the Cougars
defensively if you're any of these people that are prognosticators,
I mean.

Speaker 9 (09:31):
This is Vegas. Vegas isn't stupid. Yeah, well they are.
I'm telling you right now. I would not be surprised.

Speaker 8 (09:38):
I'm not gonna say it's gonna be like the Tennessee game,
but I would not be surprised that the Cougars win
comfortably against Duke because of that factor.

Speaker 10 (09:45):
They're so good defensively. Yeah, they definitely did that. I
don't want people to think Tennessee isn't good. No, they're
very good because of what the Cougars did to them.
And I also don't want to think people just think, well,
look at what the Cougars did to them, why won't
they just do it again?

Speaker 9 (10:01):
Because it's hard to do. Yeah, it's very hard.

Speaker 10 (10:04):
They didn't do that all tournament long. They didn't do
that in the game two days before it to a
much worse Purdue team. Purdue is nowhere near as talented
as Tennessee. Now, they might have the right formula and
that's where matchups might come in. Heck, the two teams
they beat in Gonzaga and Purdue, their point guard play
is beyond elite for college basketball, and you could see

it all game long, and Braden Smith's specifically with what
he was able to do. And I think them hard
to a smaller degree, but the same principle, and Tennessee
just didn't have that. Tennessee needed offense from the guys
who were being who are good offensive players all year,
and they just simply weren't. And yeah, the Cougars deserve
credit for that. Very very different duke team, very different
where their strength is clearly I think They're now going

to be playing the best player they've played against all year.
He's the best player in college basketball, so I'm not
sure how it's even debatable. So that is a massive challenge.
And he's also not some six four six' five wing
that you can send a whole bunch of different wings,
at which is kind of what The rockets do on
THE nba. Side he's more of a. Monster how do
you match up with?

Speaker 9 (11:06):
Him do you go? Big do you go? Small do
you have the athletes to do?

Speaker 10 (11:10):
It and The cougars probably do have the, answer and
this will be a huge challenge for challenge For. Duke
i'm looking forward to the conversations that lead up to
it and certainly give a lot of credit to how
The cougars play. Basketball might have only been one hundred
and nineteen total points for them during a weekend Where
bama hit one hundred And duke went well over one
hundred all by, themselves but it was great. Basketball and

looking forward to the fact that they have another full
week of. It saturday night their next, game a win,
there and they play for the national title On. Monday,
obviously we left you with Two astros games to go
against The mets this weekend and they took one of,
them so they won the series two games to. One
there was very little, offense meaning there was a ton of.
Pitching mets pitching STAFF i thought was pretty, impressive especially

after the, starters and they might be going into a
couple of starting pitchers that are at least as, good
if not better than what The astros. Saw so that
was a good team that will pitch well this. Year
that The astros handled offensively enough to go out there
and get two. Wins it was not easy to score.

were not for much of the, weekend and they only
hit one ball over the fence thanks To Jeremy, pana
