Speaker 1 (00:00):
We need to interrupt baseball because this is pretty massive
breaking news.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
I'm in here for you.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
The Cowboys have traded Micah Parsons to the Packers.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Well, Michael Parsons, your relief pitcher of the game.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
I told you they are going to trade them because
they're stupid.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
It's it's not a parody account.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
You haven't been due. This is ian rapoport.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Well, the reason you get traded is because the new
team will because this isn't Bill O'Brien in the Texans.
The new team will have a deal in place. It's
the only reason they'll pull off a deal for a
player who's heading it.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
I know that, I'm getting to it.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Their only reason you would pull off a deal like
this is because you have the player in tow No
teams but this one many years ago, wouldever go about
it that way. Forty seven million dollars per year, highest
paid non quarterback in history, two first round picks to
the Cowboys, and the team he'll be playing for already

(01:02):
handed the Cowboys an embarrassing postseason defeat in the very
recent past. With Dak Prescott at quarterback and Michael Parsons
on the other side, they do trade him to the Packers,
and presumably the back injury that kept him out of
training camp will have some miraculous healing, magically will disappear,
and the Cowboys will now move forward. Last three big

(01:27):
time contracts they had to work on, they didn't do
it well on any of those cases. But Ceedee Lamb remains,
Dak Prescott remains, and arguably the player who's gotten off
to the most remarkable start to his career four years
of hardly matched ever in the history of the game excellence.
He's not gonna play elsewhere. What this also means as

(01:49):
we continue with the A team as the afternoon commences, well,
Will Anderson is an edge rusher. This will be the
most recently signed edge rusher when next offseason hits. That
matters to Will Anderson his negotiating party in the Houston Texans.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah no, that's that's the I guess downside of this.
I don't know if you want to call it.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
That somebody was going to be the hospited player at
his position, and we all knew it was going to
be Micah because of the timeline of everything. The only
way it wouldn't have been is if they didn't move him.
They didn't agree to a long term deal, and they
might potentially both be signing long term contracts in the
off season, but now that will not be the case.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Well, I'm trying desperately to find I mean, Ian Rappaport
has tweeted like five or six different tweets about this deal,
but it all centers around the money.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Yeah, one hundred and eighty eight million, one hundred and
thirty six guaranteed two first round picks to the Cowboys.
A little bit over one hundred million one point twenty
apparently will be the guaranteed portion of it, and he
will pocket sixty two million in year one of the deal.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Him being howled again twenty five. That's how you get
two first rounders. Oh yeah, for sure. We were talking
about some of the other guys that were in contentious
negotiations with their teams at the same time.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
But I just stop.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
I had immediate reaction like it or don't like it?
For who pick a team? Well, who what.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
They have two answers? Then what are the last rounders?

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Well, I don't believe the Packers have anybody else's first rounders.
I'll double check, but I'm fairly certain they do.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Not.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
The Packers are a good team. This is gonna make
them a lot better.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Well, they're a playoff team, point blank, and now they
were before, they.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Still are now.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
So you're that pick will fall somewhere between nineteen and
thirty two.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Yeah, But here's the thing.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
One of the things that Ian Rappaport tweeted was they
also load up with future picks to continue to build
the foundation they've already set. You just traded some of
that foundation, Like that's when.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
I found their foundation quarterback and some of their other
young talented players.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Yeah, but this was your by far most talented player
at any position. And I just think that, you know,
if you want to phrase it like that, it's Ian
rapper before it's like the Cowboys are saying this.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
He's saying it because that's what most of the people
who push information out from agents and teams right, try
to keep everybody happy. Do you go back and read
how they write most of the stuff that they do.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
I think this is great for the for the Packers.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
I don't necessarily like it for the Cowboys because yeah,
you got two first rounders, but they're not going to
be it's not going to be the top of the draft,
and because you're sending him to a team it's already,
as you mentioned, a playoff team, and you don't know
what you're getting just because you have a first rounder.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
As I mean, it hits. Ask the Texans about.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
That, well, the hit rate of first round picks that
come after the top whatever. But they're already back to
at best nineteen. Again, unless I'm mistaken, I hate the
deal for the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Absolutely. I think it's a terrible deal.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
They're going to have a worst season than already thought.
I probably would have thought. Not I just you, you shouldn't.
This is not how to operate. It costs money to
pay good players, and good team pay good players. That's
how you win. You have good players, you pay them,
you win. It's a simple philosophy.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Would you like to hear what Micah Parsons has had
to say? I already know what he has to say.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
I think it's going to be a super super simple
message tell the people. Well, he said, go pack go.
I knew it would be. When players are packers, that
is what they say.
