Speaker 1 (00:01):
Remember that magic eight ball A nice little shaken Look
at this I'm getting late tonight. You can trust whatever
it said, or you could trust these two guys named Adam.
It's a crap shoot either way. But these are your
stone cold.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Locks Stone. It's that time again.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Football season brings us our signature segment of stone cold locks.
What last week was Week one all college with no NFL.
We have a college football game of the week now
we had two that a play on the Houston Texans
game had three other wild card selections of your choosing
and mixing a prop there if you would like. But

(00:52):
we'll recap from last week did not go so well
for yours truly went a little bit better for ac
and as predicted by the person who did it, Cole
outdid us and one four of his five selections, Clinton
claiming three my self, I grabbed only two and a
couple of us got bitten my Texas A and m
Late we all got bitten by the game of the

(01:13):
week last week Texas and Ohio State Michigan on all fronts.
This week, our college football game of the week is
right down the road. Bye bucket is up for grabs
between the university of Houston and the Rice Owls. Each
of them won their opener, a fourteen twelve victory for Rice,
a twenty seven to nothing victory for the University of Houston,

(01:34):
and now they meet at Rice Stadium tomorrow. Got a
game for you there. We will make a pick on that.
We will make a pick on the Texans at Rams.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Cole. You'll get us started.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
I want to hear from you your pick on the
college football Game of the week and your other three selections.
We'll hold the Texans Rams selection for each of us
till the end.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
So I mean congratulates start in order to the Cougars.
They had a great win against SFA, good win for Rice.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
You're one of the new.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Coaching staff, but neither offense really did enough to entice
me to think that the over is gonna hit. I'm
riding with the mind of the under. At thirty nine
and a half, Tonight, JMU travels to Louisville to take
on the Cardinals. Cardinals are a sleeper team in the ACC.
JMU is considered a sleeper team at the G five level.

(02:20):
I like Louisville to win this game, but I wasn't
impressed enough with the offensive personnel to think that they're
going to win by two and a half scores. So
I'm gonna take Jmu at plus fourteen and a half.
Death taxes always bet.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
The over in a Mississippi State game.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
It's a high tempo Arizona State offense going down to Starkville,
and the offense of Missippi State is miles better than
what it was last season. Had a great performance against
Southern Miss last week. Blake Shapen, former Baylor quarterback back
in the saddle. I think the over is gonna hit.
I think this is gonna be a back and fourth
game between these two programs late into the fourth quarter,

(02:57):
so naturally you gotta take the points at over eight
and a half. And then we go to the NFL side.
Cam Ward to you, guys may not be an overrated
quarterback just yet, and that's fine and dandy, but he
is the least talked about quarterback who went number one overall,
and I would say the last two decades for a reason,
because I don't believe he's gonna be that talented. I

(03:18):
believe he is not gonna be the answer out in Nashville,
and I think that more people are going to see
what I see when the dever Broncos cover.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
The eight and a half points.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
A couple things on that I think I brought it
up yesterday. I think cam Ward and CJ. Stroud faced
the two most undesirable matchups from the defensive front. They'll
be going up again, so I think cam Ward is
definitely in for itant like that play. I think Benito
and crew will that will be a tall task. And
the other thing you brought up the Louisville Cardinals, I'm
not sure how asleep they're gonna be to be called

(03:49):
a sleeper in the ACC when for the first time
in forever, Clemson, SMU, Miami, Florida State might all be good,
might all be certainly better than Louisville. You know, Bowl
team eight win team. I don't think that's not accomplishable.
I would doubt very highly they would land anywhere in

(04:10):
the top four. I know it's only one week, but
I do think Miami, Clemson and Florida State's victories matter
and how they played it and what they looked like.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
All right, AC, I'm sorry, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Don't also forget about Georgia Tech, who won me a
game last week to go for and what probably.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
On us for not playing any Brent Key audio this
week when he was asked about if they're going to
retire the number forty three and the reason he was
asked about that for those that saw the video, a
player needed to have an additional jersey given to him
during the game because he could not wear the one
he should have worn, and they gave him a forty
six XL jersey. It was the big It was the

(04:48):
kind of jersey that your eight year old wears when
he's the last one to get his jersey on the
basketball team, and it goes down to his knees.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
It's so oversized.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Was absolute comedy show, and he commented on it during
the week. He's an extreme straight shooter and it took
a lot for him to even lighten up during those
comments of how ridiculous the player looked, but he did
acknowledge that nobody will ever wear that jersey again.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
All right, ac your college game of the Week and
three others.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
All Right, Houston at Rice, I'm actually gonna take the
under in this one, just because I don't know how
much talent Rice springs to the table to be scoring
a whole bunch of points out there quite the opposite,
since we have mahomes at the greatest quarterback in the
history of mankind who is designed in a lab. So
if you're so good, put up some points over forty

(05:35):
six and a half. Chiefs at Chargers, Chiefs at Chargers
in Brazil.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
In Brazil. I did actually change that on the graphic.
I couldn't have it say at, I had to change
it to verse. It is in Brazil. They're not playing
in LA. It's not a road game for only one
of these teams. It's a neutral field NFL regular season game.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
But did Chargers get all the home receipts because they're
giving up the pro the proceeds.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
I don't know exactly how that plays on in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (06:04):
I've always actually wondered that, So play the over. Okay, yeah,
same thing with the Lions at the Packers. I just
think that's going to be an explosive matchup, even though
both teams have very very high caliber pass rushes and
iconic pass rushers individually, especially with the But I don't
I mean, even if Micah Parsons doesn't play, or do

(06:24):
we even know the status for sure.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
We'll see his status today. I have missed what they
titled it as.

Speaker 5 (06:29):
I think the Packers have a decent defense, but I'm
still taking the over regardless.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
I don't care.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
And then the opposite with the Titans at the Broncos.
I think a lot of what Cole was talking about
with cam Ward being a rookie going up against the
pass rush, going up against a defense like that, I'll
take the under forty two and a half in the
Mile High.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
City between the Titans and the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
You have all the plays you've made, the two of
you that I didn't take. Both of the Tennessee Denver
plays I think are outstanding and probably should have taken
it myself.

Speaker 5 (06:58):
They screamed at me.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
I'll play Houston.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Rice the same way you guys did so just to
keep pace, No, we put them in separately, but we
all are taking the under in that game. Both team's
defense is very impressive in their respective openers. Louisiana Tech's
at LSU this week thirty six and a half point
favorites the one to oh Tigers.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
I'll take it.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
The Commanders are only five and a half point favorites
off of its over, a team quarterback by Russell Wilson.
I will play that for sure. This one I hated
and left it on the list. Anyway, I know nobody
likes the Colts, but it's pretty clear with most people's
predictions nobody likes the Dolphins either. But I'll play the
dog Dolphins on the road at Indianapolis. They're getting one

(07:40):
and a half points, So just go on the road
and prove that Tua is a player. Just win the game.
That's all I'm asking for you. Try to make my
way back up the standings. We'll give you our pick
on the Texans. They are three point underdogs. They're forty
three and a half is the number on the over under.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
We'll do that.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
On the other side of things, there are a couple
of other games. I'll usually try to go off the
board a little bit with the college.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Game of the week.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
I'm aware Oklahoma and Michigan are playing this week and
there is nothing else on the schedule of a great
matchup variety. We have a nice game here in town,
so sometimes a local pick, sometimes the biggest game in
the country. We'll mix it up a little bit with
that college game of the week. And of course, you
of h and Rice, you can find that right here
on our family of networks carry U of h over
a nine point fifty Kate prc our pick on the.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Texans comes next.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Didn't get this information out in full earlier and probably
should have. I just mentioned how their practice went today.
For the Texans side at Ingram was limited at practice today.
Both of their reserve tackles, Blake Fisher and Cam Robinson,
practiced in full. Mind you, this was a walk through
in a very brief one as they were getting ready
to hop on the bus and board a plane and

(08:49):
head out to LA for their game. But on Fridays
they actually list the player status for the game. Ingram's
lift is as questionable for the game, which obviously leaves
his availabilities somewhat in doubt as expected, though it's unfortunate
both Christian Kirk and Braxton Barrios he did not practice
at all this week after suffering hamstring injuries prior to

(09:09):
Wednesday's first quote unquote game.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Week.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Practice a little bit different this week because they did
not play a game last week as training camps and
preseason ended, but they're both out. Texans have seven receivers
on the active roster to begin with, so it's not
a guarantee they will have somebody up.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
If they do, I.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Wouldn't be surprised, And if they do, it'll probably be
Jared Wayne, who spent time on the active roster a
little bit over the last couple of years. Jalen Knowle
almost certainly will see a ton of the field. The
Texans employed three active slot receivers. While they will put
everybody on the field at different points in time in
the slot, including Nico, including Jayden Higgins, he is now

(09:49):
their only healthy, rostered slot receiver because both Burios and
Kirk's primary spots on the field are in that spot.
I don't think it changes what they want to do,
but it might in that they may not be able
to put a slot receiver on the field the entire game,
and if he's asked to also return punts. It just
puts a little bit more strain on a player playing
in their very very first NFL game. There's no injuries

(10:10):
of note for the Rams heading into this game. A
couple of offensive linemen were just not fully ready to
go necessarily, but the illness for Alerc Jackson only limited
in practice. He said as much that he is good
to go, he will play. Haven't Steen another offensive Lineman
was just given a rest day today, so very good
health for the Rams who come into this game, not

(10:32):
very surprisingly as the favorites at home. We've got the
number at Rams minus three the over unders forty three
and a half. Since everybody's already seen it. I don't
think I'm saying anything here, but both of you guys
playing the over, why Cole, I don't want to say
that the Texans are going to win or lose this game.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
I think that there can be enough to where if
the offense is clicking for Houston, it can get to
twenty plus points Los Angeles, it is gonna get twenty
plus points. Twenty plus twenty is forty. You give me
an extra field goal, all right? Now we're pushing forty
three right there. Bottom line is I think this is
gonna be a twenty four to twenty final score.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
So I mean the over went hit.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
So this is your first four into the stone cold locks,
and this is our first Texans game. Are we gonna
hear that first line you gave us?

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Often?

Speaker 3 (11:20):
Like, I don't really know if I'm gonna pick is
gonna win or lose or cover the number?

Speaker 2 (11:24):
I'll just play the over under.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
No so okay, So going into this matchup, I actually
the Texans winning twenty seven to twenty initially an over.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Really I did. The Christian Kirk.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
Injury bothers me a lot, and then the Ed Ingram
injury bothers me a little bit. You're having Ariante erth
free potentially at the move back over to the right side.
There's just a lot of things that I don't like
as much as I did anymore. So I'll still take
the over, but I'll take the over with the optimism
that Houston's walking away with the.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Dumb and you play the over for well, I played
the under, I changed it and recent it. My god,
so maybe I'm looking at old one?

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Was it?

Speaker 5 (11:57):
So what's what's on TV? Yeah, it was changed before
the show, so I know we had the conversation.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
So that still says over on the graphic that I
have sent off to our esteemed colleague who handles all
the production side of things. So the last Gary would say,
that's on me.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
You gotta do better. You gotta battle fight when you
make these graphics. Now that's two weeks in a row.
We've only done it for two weeks. I've said an
erroneous graphic each time.

Speaker 5 (12:20):
Well, it's in the very very official spreadsheet, so that's
where it's correct. And a lot of the things that
used to switch to the under switch to the under.
I've just all week long, I haven't felt great about
I don't.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Look.

Speaker 5 (12:35):
Both these defenses are good. That's the main reason I'm
taking the under, and a lot of the things that
Cole mentioned are true. But I like the Texans defense
in this game to perform as well. And if it
does and the Rams defense does, they're not scoring more
than forty three points.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Yeah, I had a tough time figuring out exactly how
it would play to the number, so I went the
other direction. I can't be saying all the things I've
said all week and say, and I think the Texans
have it.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
I just don't. I wish I did. I rarely pick
against the Texans to cover.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
If you've noticed, I also don't usually do very well
when I don't win a year of stone cold locks,
which has happened quite often. It's almost always because I'm
terrible at picking the Texans.

Speaker 5 (13:14):
It's terrible picking the Texans last year too. I think
all three of us were last year.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
But I rarely take their opponent to cover, and this
week I'm taking their opponent to cover. I wish it
was two and a half from a wagering perspective rather
than three. So I think there's a very good chance
it ends twenty three to twenty. It ends, you know,
somewhere in that right on that number, but twenty one
seventeen would be a cover. An unfortunate start to the season,
But I'll say this before we get to next week

(13:39):
and the Monday night football game that follows on Monday,
the Texans are going to start the season no worse
than one in one. They're not going to lose to
the Rams and Bucks, both playoff teams. But I don't
believe they'll lose both of these two games before they
dive into a division game. But I do not think
this is a one to zero start for the Houston text.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
So basically, pick your poison. Are they losing this week
or they're losing next week?

Speaker 2 (14:00):
