The news came out today, that the Texans could be putting out feelers for getting a new stadium. We've been through this before in Houston, with the previous NFL franchise. However, Adam Clanton and Adam Wexler believe this team could be very different for the McNair family, as opposed to when Bud Adams tried to get a new home. However, the Texans nearly ruined that goodwill with the city and fanbase.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Jack Easterby era.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
I'm sorry that disenfranchised, but look, I know, let me finish,
because I know you're gonna want to jump in like
fifty times before I finished the sentence. But listen, you
cannot deny that when Jack easter Bee was running this
franchise into the ground, and I know he had help,
believe me, and some of the help was ownership, and
I realized there were factors like Bob's health and all.

(00:23):
There's all sorts of things going on, So I'm not
putting it all at the feet of Jack Easterby. And
absolutely Bill O'Brien had a hand in it when he's
trading one of your best players for a ham sandwich,
and that was like the fiftieth worst thing he did
as a fake GM. But they did not change course,
the Houston Texans, they did not actually change course and

(00:45):
begin to run their franchise like a serious operation until
it started to show in the fan disinterest or the
fan blowback or we're either not going to show up,
or we can't get rid of these tickets fast enough,
or they're there signs in the stands of guys saying
sell the team.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
That kind of stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
It did not really change until that stuff was happening.
And again they chose some of that on purpose towards
the end when the easter b was gone, and yet.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
They were still losing on purpose.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
The problem was they had gotten rid of all the
good faith if they had any left in the prior
years before they were like, yeah, we're definitely losing on purpose.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Yeah, I think there's definitely something to be said for
all of what you put out there, and there's no
question that existed. I think the big difference is both financially,
this is purely Adams and the fans.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
That's purely financial.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
This is give me your money and buy me a building,
give me your money and do what I want, or
else I'm leaving, and all the things that led up
to that. The other thing is that I think the
McNair's the current ownership duo is it's a lot different
from how the fans felt against them or towards them

(01:56):
even during the time you're talking about, because they were
they were so angry at the people doing what you said,
I don't need it took to the owners to a
certain that's who you hired. This is the direction you're
sending the organization but they were both there for such
a short period of time, and the recovery period has also,
to me been such a short period of time. The
disgust was never at the level I don't even think

(02:19):
the word is accurate. They were just disappointed and maybe
a little curious because this is the onset of your
quote new ownership and new leadership. Is this what we're
in store for? Is this what the future of our
franchise is going to be. There's there's got to be
an end soon, because nobody in the NFL would be
fan wise, would be willing to take on three five,

(02:39):
ten years of just poorly run football, bad decisions, constant firings,
and obviously constant losing.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
It was Cleveland's South, No you would.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
And yet the fans there obviously have not only put
up with it, they support the team in a.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Tremendously and they've taken on some of the our problems.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
They have a story on that also from to But yeah,
I just I do understand they discussed with how they
were doing things, but it's just different to me because
they the threat has not yet come, and that's what
some people believe. The ball is now rolling on the
threat of a departure, which is pretty much.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
All they have. They are slow rolling this, but I'm
telling you right now it'll be very, very different.
