Speaker 1 (00:01):
Remember that magic eight ball, A nice little shaken.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Look at this I'm getting late tonight.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
You can trust whatever it said, or you could trust
these two guys named Adam.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
It's a crap shoot either way. But these are your
stone cold.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Locks.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Stone Cold, we've reached that point on a Friday, our
signature segment each and every weekdy afternoon at four thirty,
we have a signature segment on our Fridays during football season.
That is our stone cold Locks. Set to go into
Week four on the Gridiron, Week three predicting what we
(00:45):
think might happen with your Houston Texans. We'll recap of
where things stand, noting that the college football Game of
the Week has been the bane of our existence here.
Each of the three of us, we've made nine picks
on the College Forotball Game of the Week so far
this season as a combined group, and we finally got
one pick right with me getting Texas A and M
(01:09):
covering the six and a half last week against Notre Dame.
It was also my first winning week. Cole's had a
winning week, AC's had two winning weeks, and we're all
basically even on the season. Eight and seven for me
on the fifteen selections seven and eight for both AC
and Cole on their fifteen selection.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
So it's time for.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Us to do a whole lot better than that college
football game of the week, probably the best matchup in
the country inside the Big Twelve. Maybe the winner wins
the Big Twelve. Even with that much season left Texas
Tech on the road at Utah, Utah as a field
goal favorite.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
The over under is sitting at fifty six and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Of course, we'll make a selection on the Texans at Jaguars.
The Jaguars are at home and are favored, but only
by a point and a half. Texans go into that
game as a point and a half dog, and the
over under sits at forty four and a half.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Will save that pick for the end.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
I will give you Clanton's selections, which he was nice
enough to offer to our listeners before his departure for
today's show. He's taking the over on the college football game.
It's an early kick tomorrow morning, so we'll have our
answer on that one. Over fifty six and a half
for Texas Tech in Utah playing the under on Rams Eagles.
(02:26):
Matt Stafford and Jalen Hurts, one of the handful of
games that features the team's respective starting quarterbacks from the
beginning of the year. There's five other quarterbacks starting this
weekend that did not start the season but will now
due to injury. As many as five no word definitively
yet on the Niners game. None of us are playing
the Niners game. Cowboys at Bears. Plan's playing the over
(02:49):
on that fifty and a half. Probably smart. Dak Prescott
is trying to follow in line with the other two
quarterbacks who have faced the Bears who went on to
win Player of the Week honors after quarterbacking their team
against the Bears, Chiefs Giants. He'll play the over there
as well, at forty five and a half. If this
were six years ago, it'd be unbelievable. Russell Wilson against
(03:11):
Pat Mahomes. Instead, it's oh to two against let me
see oh and two. They're in Jersey, Cole, save your
Texans pick for last? What do you have for the
other four? Starting with the Red Raiders and the Utes.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
I don't know how to feel about this game. I
could see either side walking away with the dub But
the thing is is that you're asking me to not
trust a Kyle Whittingham defense to slow down Baron Morton
and what has been, for my money, a somewhat underwhelming Red.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Raiders passing attack.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I'm taking the under a fifty six and a half.
I do think that Utah is gonna win this football game.
I think at the early atmosphere Rice Ecle Stadium, ten
am and have a factor. But I don't understand why
anybody would take the over when you have two solid defenses.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Let me ask you about Utah's quarterback real quickly, Kevin
dan Pierre, what's up?
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Just in general? You know, obviously he's getting to play.
He is playing.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
There is no is our twenty nine year old quarterback
going to be in the mix this year.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
But this is his team. He's obviously playing like that.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
And I don't know if there's any other bigger reason
why this year he's very different than last year than
who's a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
The other thing is that, you know how Ben Arbuckle
and John Matier decided to h tailed out of pullman
Ate on down to Norman, The exact same thing happened
with Devin dan Pier and his offensive coordinator from New Mexico.
So that relationship and that continuity is now out in
Salt Lake City, and there is a really good sense
that with a solid offensive line, arguably one of the
most underrated in college.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Football, they're gonna be a threat.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
I don't think that they're going to win the national title,
but if anything, Kyle winning him and what he has
done for the program out in Salt Lake City, deserves
at least.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Once shot at going to the College Football Playoffs.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
So I think they're gonna win this game and think
they're gonna be the favorites to win the Big Twelve.
Moving forward, about all the Iron Skillet comes to an
end after one hundred and fifteen years on set. I
don't know if it's because of just the new format
with having now nine conference games in the Big Twelve
and what's gonna be the new format in the ACC.
Reports are coming out that they're also gonna move to
nine games.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
But I think this is one of the best.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
And most slept on rivalries in college football and I
hate that we're going away from it. But I also
think that right now, knowing what I've seen from Josh Hoover,
this high tempo passing attack and more specifically a very
underrated rushing attack for the horn Frogs this year, the
game being played out in fourth Worth, I'm taking them
my seven and a half points. I do think that
TC is the more complete team despite Kevin Jennings what
(05:35):
he's able to utilize with his legs. Give me the
horn Frogs at home. I'm gonna go Arkansas on the
road against Memphis. Not to say that Arkansas is gonna
win this football game because in years past this is
an ultimate letdown spot. But you and I both saw
what happened last weekend out in Oxford, dreadful defensive performances.
And Taylor Green is a superstar. You know, if you
(05:55):
put him on most rosters in the SEC, you probably
have a football playoff team with who he is at quarterback.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
I've got a question, Yeah, what's the difference between Leonora's
sellers and Taylor and Green?
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Year two of an offensive mastermind who actually knows what
he's doing competently and by betrayal.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Like flip them.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Would we not be talking about Green as Heisman contender
if he was South Carolina's quarterback?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I don't know, actually, because if the Bye Patrino effect
is real like that to me, as I think the
most underlying thing year two with quarterbacks and by Patrino system,
they hit and that's what we're.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Watching at this point. Yeah, I agree.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
I mean the quarterback talent in the SEC, even all
the way down to Arkansas and others. I mean the
arguably one of the worst teams is Florida for the
way they've played and they have DJ Lagway, it's incredible.
We've talked about it all off season now on into
the season. And lastly, oh yeah, I'm taking the over
(06:48):
in this game just because of again, it's gonna be
chaos out there.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Final game Michigan State.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Gets to go travel out west to take on USC.
I don't understand all of this USC hype just yet.
Hailey sawyer aside, Sorry, you can't sell me on this
being a great team until further notice.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
I think that USC is gonna win this football game.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
I think that Michigan State is going to cover the
plus eighteen and a half points.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
You said you don't know how anybody can take the
over in Tech and Utah, but both AC and I
will be doing so. You talked about John Mattier and
his OC heading down to Oklahoma. They're very good. I
believe Auburn will stay within the number though. As dogs
at plus seven, I'll take Auburn. I also think the
Cowboys Bears game will be high scoring. I just think
the Cowboys will have at least two more points by
(07:34):
then the Bears and win the game, So I'll take
the Cowboys to cover. As favorites on the road. I'm
not into the revenge factor for their DC at all,
so minus one and a half will take the Cowboys.
And if I think the Chargers are gonna win the game,
I probably think they're gonna win by more than two
and a half points at home against a smarting Broncos
team who really hasn't played all that well but should
(07:55):
be two and zero. I'll take the Herberts to get
to three and oh and cover the two and a half.
We'll give you our Texans selections. On the other side,
they are dogs at Jacksonville. That means the odds makers
think the trip to Jacksonville will be a waste of
time and the Texans will come home at zero and three.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Do we agree or not? It's next the eight on
