Speaker 3 (04:25):
It's saper than a time and yeah, it's three things
you need to know you with the Alabama.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Show, we have a girl from Alabama that's on this
most recent season of Stranger Things. I saw this, did
you the thirteen year old actress from Alabaster?

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (04:41):
I didn't know who it was, but I am very proud.
She plays Wendy, one of the classmates of Holly Wheeler,
so she was already in the first episode. In the
fourth episode, she will be on more episode, so keep
a lookout. But yeah, congratulations. Her name is Elise Lewis.
Congratule Lease. We think you're awesome. The Powerball jack pod
is now worth one million dollars. We need a hookup.

(05:05):
Nobody won Wednesday night's drawing, so the grand prize rolls
over to Saturday night's drawing. You can choose the entire
amount over thirty installments, or take a one time cash
the amount of four hundred and sixty million dollars. Yeah,
I'll take four hundred and sixty million dollars. Please, yeah,
I mean to be fair. That's enough. There is now
an apple named after a Luda Chris and it's called
Luda Crisp. Oh, come on, Ludacrisp apples. A millennial orchard

(05:30):
owner spent decades on this project trying to what is
it that they do when they make their own types
of fruits? They breed them or you know them. Let's
say that they don't they cross crossby across. You got
me confused. See now, anyway he's been doing this. It's
a relative. It's a new apple. You can get them

(05:50):
in sprouts farmers' markets. They say it's fruity, crispy and juicy,
just like ludacris the sweet things. You need to know

Speaker 3 (06:01):
The Alabama Show on to me, It's free on the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Laura, Good morning. What's your issue for? Ask Alabama?

Speaker 5 (06:09):
Do I tell my brother that his dog died? Or
do I wait for him to come home?

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Oh? No, Uh, that's why we do Ask Alabama. If
you ever read help, which are our best or if
you want to give Laura some advice? Eight three three
five oh one, Bama is the number what happened? How
did your brother's dog die? What's going on?

Speaker 5 (06:28):
My brother went away for school about four months ago. Okay,
so I've been, you know, watching his dog until he
gets back. He comes home in a couple of weeks.
And just the worst thing happened last night. I let
the dog out, like to go to the bathroom, and
the coyote got him last night.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Oh my gosh. Look, there's hard stories that this will happen.
And I live in the country. Coyotes will take your pets,
and this is one of my worst nightmares. What did
you do?

Speaker 5 (06:57):
I mean, we did try to find him, but like
there's nothing.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
So the dog is gone.

Speaker 5 (07:03):
Yeah, he's gone.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
How long has your brother had this dog?

Speaker 5 (07:08):
He has had this dog for eight years. Oh no,
I'm beside myself. I'm so sick to my stomach. I
don't know what to do.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
How is your brother, Like, what's his mental health?

Speaker 4 (07:18):
Like?

Speaker 5 (07:19):
My brother has had a rough few months, and honestly,
his mental health hasn't been great. Okay, so I'm really
scared of what telling him about his dog will do
to him. Absolutely tell him now, Well he's far away
and alone, or do I wait until he's home? So

(07:39):
we can be there to support him. Okay, all it's
exam week at school for him. I genuinely just don't
know what to do.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Producer Blake, what would you do? Would you wait to
tell somebody, your brother or your sister that their dog
died un till they got home. I already know you
would wait. You would wait? Woun't you because you didn't
even tell your girlfriend he almost lost her ring a
couple of weeks ago. Well, it's better to be like
he was just here, like you got it. I don't
want to cause an issue, especially if he's in the
wrong mindset. No, I would want to know exactly right then.

(08:08):
That way I would know what I'm coming home to
instead of like all excited to come home and see
my dog and then I get there and it's dead.
Call the show eight three three five oh one Bama
is the number. That's eight three three five oh one.

Speaker 3 (08:22):

Speaker 1 (08:52):

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Matt was going to visit He.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
Was going to visit her daughter who was getting married
in Saint Lucia, Okay. And I called her daughter and
kind of told her daughter and let her make that decision.
And she said, to be best of letters, let her know.
And of course she requested us to go ahead and
bury him. And we just an older dog and he

(09:16):
just was gone one afternoon when I come into work
from work to check on him.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
That is all. I hate that, Like that is my
worst nightmare. If I'm ever pet sitting, and I pet
sit for people all the time. No way.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Yes, it was so scary and sad. I was like
I could tell when I walked in her house that
he was dead, and I was just like, oh my gosh,
what do I do? So I had to evaluate, but
she understood when he buried him.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Did you have a whole funeral. Did you say words
over him?

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Yes, of course we did. He was a small dog,
so it was like a whole group thing. We had
to do a big hole. We were just discussing this
ironically last night at dinner Wild.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Well, bless you. You're a great friend for having a
funeral for your friend's dog.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
Yes, thanks for colling, Jennifer.

because my brother definitely told me that my gold fish
swam upstate.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Oh how old were you?

Speaker 4 (10:54):
I was probably like eight or nine at the time.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
I was twenty four. What really happened is your gold
fish swam down the toilet drain.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
I'm not even sure that he was nice enough to
put it down the toilet drain.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
He was a pretty sadistic bullsucker.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Well, Anna for Morris, tell me more about your childhood trauma.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Oh, I have plenty, so much time you got no
not enough.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
I'm glad we could bring you a little bit of
joy through reminiscing with your trauma.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
I do miss Goldie, so think about him very often.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
That's great. Hey, at least your goldfish has a better name, Goldie.
My grandmother's neighbor named his goldfish Charter Sauce.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
That's a choice.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
It is a choice. Anna, I love you, Thank you
for choosing us always. It's three things you need to
know with THELAM just want you to know you have
more time to submit for Alabama's Polite Porch pirates, where
we could show up at your front porch and give
you gifts if you want to nominate somebody. I've been
going through the nominations. We call. We're going to deliver

(11:55):
something to somebody next week, and we have talked to him.

in their life. Snoop Dogg was named Team USA's first
honorary coach for the twenty twenty six Winter Olympics at Milano,
Cortina Olympic Winter Games. Snoop Dogg, let me tell you

(12:18):
how he made the announcement. He made the announcement on
his LinkedIn page. On his LinkedIn page, he hapitated. So
I don't know what's more shocking that Snoop Dogg is
an honorary Olympic coach or that he has a LinkedIn?
Does he need a LinkedIn? I don't know. He had
to add that to his resume. So congrat Snoop Dogg.

(12:40):
We love you, and Sabrina Carpenter says one of the
keys to writing a hit song is to call men stupid. Well,
I mean that's her formula, I guess, I mean there's
for her. She was named Hit Maker of the Year
by Variety, and while accepting the award, she said, first
of all, do not try to write a hit, because
that's the easiest way to write a bad song. But
if you want it to be a good song, call

(13:01):
me in stupid in as many ways as you can.
And there you go. Thanks, Sabrina, You're stupid. How does
that song go? Come on, she's your girl.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
I don't want anymore now I'm hurt.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
That's three things you need to know. More at the

it watching your son Wressell? I was very sureful? Are
you are you like a sideline mom that's right up

(13:44):
there yelling or do you stay back and you're like,
oh I can't walk, I can't look.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Oh no, I'm up there yelling and video yelling and.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
That is great. How old is your son? Fourteen? I?

Thanks The Alabama Show on demand free on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
I need your help because I have a new job
and I don't know how to handle it. What is it?
What's the job? By the way, thank you for listening
to The Alabama Show. I'm Alabama with producer Blake's Yesterday.
I'm on the board of the Addiction Prevention Coalition, which
is a great nonprofit that does a lot of things
in the community for people struggling with addiction that help

(14:49):
people in recovery and people who are in addiction to
get out of addiction. Yes, correct, So I'm on the board.
I have never been on a board until like a
few months ago. They put me on the board and
I I was at a meeting yesterday, mm hmm. And
we go through the minutes. Have you ever like it's
like official. They have somebody that does the minutes. Somebody
goes motion to approve this, and somebody says motion to approve,

(15:13):
and then somebody has to say second, and then everybody
says I and then that go Does anybody have any
you know? Yeah, No, I've been in those meetings go ahead.
So the guy we get to the part about funding okay,
and he goes, I'm gonna step down for being head
of the fund committee. And the whole time I thought
he was saying fun committee, think he was saying fund

(15:38):
And he goes, if anybody would like to volunteer to
step up and take over, or if you want to
think about it and message just after the meeting let
us know or you know, and then he looks at
me goes, Alabama, if you want to do it, and
I'm like uh, And then the girl next to me
is like, I'll do it too, and I was like, well,
I was about to say yeah, and they were like, great,
CoA chair, y'all are co chairs of the fund committee. Fund.

(15:59):
I thought that they said fun. You thought the addiction
thing you had a fun commit I was gonna be
in charge of the fun committee. What would the fun
committee be for this? Have fun sober. That's a great
thing to help people, just like there's how to learn
how to have fun sober. Looks like you're funding a

(16:19):
new department for the now. I'm like and I was like, yeah,
I'll do it. And then I'm like, I don't know
what to do. This is so important and you know me.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
There's how do you how do you sign up for
a job that you didn't even know you were sitting?

Speaker 1 (16:33):
He said, fun? Look and then and look, this is
a very important cause to me, because if you've listened
to the show long enough, you know I lost my
mom to addiction six years ago, so it really is
important to me. So it's to help funding for the nonprofit.
So I'm gonna help, like I'm helping set up there.
We're gonna do a gala in the fall, and I'm
gonna help set that up together. So you'll hear me
talk about it when it gets time. You signed up

(16:56):
for an accidental job, I literally thought. He said fun,
commit and I was like, oh yeah, fun, come here, Yeah,
this is what I want. And then I looked at
the sheet and it said funding, and I was like, oh, fund,
you could give that to the other person. This one's
not mine. I'm here for the fun. Anyway, this has

(17:16):
ever happened to call the show? Eight three three five
one Bama is the number. That's eight three three five
O one two two six two.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
You were listening to the Alabama Show.
