Speaker 1 (00:03):
Corey Connor's just got in the house. There's now four
or five six players. I think it's six under let's
you know, several of Scheffler's got to six, but he
still got holes to play. Hatton's at six, McElroy Connor's
at six. So those are the four. The rest are
at minus fiver are below at the Masters. All right.
Today was announced on Twitter, because of course we announce

(00:25):
everything on Twitter. Wait a second, oh man, Jason Day
got lucky. Phil hit it in the water on fifteen.
Jason Days somehow held up. I don't know, he's got
the golf gods on his side. But anyway, on Twitter
today Brandon High made an announcement. He's uts and one
of the utsa's running backs and he's going to enter
the transfer portal. I think he's their best running back

(00:47):
and I thought he would be the number one running
back for UTSA going into the fall next year. But
there's one thing that changed all of that when a
few weeks ago they decided that those that went to
junior college, well, we're not going to count their years
of eligibility. And I'm really not sure why the NCAA
did that, because it's always been. Your clock starts the

(01:09):
second you play sports for anyone and it ends five
years later, and you get a bonus year if you're
injured or if you've set out a year as a
red shirt player. And most junior college players play one
or two years in junior college and so they have
either two or three years left to play to play

(01:29):
at the next level when they go to whatever college
they go to. But Brandon would have probably been the
number one running back I think had he stayed. But
with Robert Henry in the mix, he's probably number one
right now. And UTSA has two other really good running
backs from last year in Bryceondonell and Trey Henderson, and

(01:51):
Trey Henderson only played in four games last year because
he wants to compete for that number one spot, and
maybe one of those two guys beats out Robert, and
technically all three will play, but more than likely Number
one plays about to fifty percent of the snaps, Number
two plays about thirty five percent of the snaps, maybe forty,

(02:12):
and the other guy gets eight or nine ten snaps
a game. At least. That's been kind of the way
that Jeff's done it since he's been here. I'm not a.
I'm a believer and this goes back to my best
coaching knowledge that the more that a running back plays,
the more they get ingrained into the game. And if
you carry it twenty times for one hundred and fifty yards,

(02:34):
you're probably going to have fifteen carries that average four
and you're going to have five carries that average twenty five.
And it's that spurtability, that being able to kind of
read the defense a little bit. And so what J'll
typically see with UTSA, at least this has been the
way in the past, is the starting running back plays
the first two possessions and number two plays the next

(02:56):
two possessions, and then number three plays the rest of
the half. Than they do it again in the second half,
and periodically they'll work in the third guy. It'll be
really interesting to see how they spread that around. But
I think the Roadrunners and maybe Brandon's going to get
paid somewhere, and if that's the case, I certainly don't
blame him. But here's where I go back to the

(03:17):
need for buyouts, because Brandon High would be somebody that
would need to pay a buyout or whatever school he
goes to. If we had buyouts, he's he's a really
good player. He's somebody that they wanted and for whatever reason,
he's chosen to leave. And again, I don't blame players
for wanting to leave if they think they can better themselves,
but at some point that needs to be there needs
to be compensation. Back to UTSA and I'm in a

(03:41):
concert with Mickey Joseph from Grambling and Jay Billis from
ESPN and formerly a duke, that buyouts are necessary.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Yeah. Brandon Hyde put this out on his official x
Slash Twitter account. He wanted to say, quote, I want
to say thank you to the entire Roadrunner community, fans, coach,
and my teammates for all they have done and all
the support. With that being said, with much prayer and thought,
I have decided to enter the transfer portal. We're three
years left of eligibility end quote. So you know, like

(04:13):
you mentioned, if if he does in fact get to
go somewhere to where he gets to be the number
one guy. Again, I don't fault the kid whatsoever, especially
if he's I don't know what his financial situation is,
but if he's getting paid, you know, whatever.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
He's getting paid, it's probably more than you until U
TSA knows for sure what their revenue share number is
going to be and what their collectives are gonna be.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Contracts man, yeah, contract well.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
We're going to talk about that tune a little bit
as well. On the ticket
